All of the animes really exist, and places like the DWMA, SPR, and Cross Academy are placed in random cities in Japan, and the Japanese also know about the existance of the animes. Animes and Mangas were created to tell their story without anyone coming to bug them, because they think they're not real. Beware, may give some spoilers. I only know of a few, here are some chars:

GHOST HUNT:

Mai Tayama--15 year old girl who works at Shibuya Pshycic Research, or SPR, with Naru and Lin.
Kazuya Shibuya: 17 year old guy who owns Shibuya Pshycic Reasearch and works with Mai and Lin. Because he is veiwed as a narcissist by Mai, he is usually called Naru.
Lin: Man who works with Mai and Naru at SPR. He is Chinese :)
Jhon Brown: An Australian Christian priest who often works with SPR. He preforms excorsisms and helps very often.
Monk Takugaua: A Monk who also preforms excorsisms and often works with SPR.
Iako: A Shrine Maiden who often works with SPR. Her Excorsisms don't really usually work, but she's smart. She is mostly seen with Monk.
Mosako Hara: A famous Psycic who can see ghosts and can tell when a place is haunted or not.

VAMPIRE KNIGHT:

Yuki Cross: A Guardian of Cross Acedemy. She is the sister of Kaname and a Pureblood vampire who was once a human.
Kaname Kuran: Yuki's brother and lover. He saved her when she was five years old and brought her to Cross Acedemy, and ten years later changed her into a Pureblood.
