The year is 162 after Colonial Ascension. 30 years have passed since the Terran Unification War began.

All these years ago, President Brendon Sage ended the United States of America and took control for himself. Immediately afterwards, he ordered for a full conquest of the Earth renaming his country as the terrifying new superpower, the Terran Republic. All shadows of the old America are gone, replaced only by the militaristic republic with no intention of diplomacy. Since the 30 years, Brendon Sage is still the leader of the Terran Republic and now controls 70% of the Earth.

The Republic has now begun a final push to conquer the entire Earth. The prevailing question is however, what does the Republic intend to do after the Earth is taken? If the Republic succeeds in taking the Earth, that question may soon be answered…

January 7, C.A. 162

Things were looking very grim in the world. The ever-looming shadow of the Terran Republic was striking fear into the hearts of almost every human on Earth. The Republic made a great demonstration of power showing its conquest of Asia and Africa in the past few decades, but the fairly recent conquest of Russia was something that brought the free world to its feet. It was now only a matter of time before the final major powers would have their final stance.

The revolution in Japan was thus far the only successful rebellion against the Republic with the Japanese people being the most defiant and in desire for the sake of their independence and truly being the only ones with the technology and will to combat the Republic’s strength. It was about 20 years since that day the old Japan became Neo-Japan. With the will and power the Japanese people demonstrated, there was a fervor and strength to be seen in them that had not been witnessed in centuries.

It seemed however that this was not to be seen elsewhere, the European Federation was divided with many significant members siding with the Republic, the South African Confederacy was ill-prepared for what the Republic would have to offer of its full power, the Oceanic Union was merely an obstacle for control of the Pacific, and the Nation of Islam had yet to come out and make public relations with any other nations.

Even if it was possible to form an alliance with all of these remaining states, the Republic Communication Filter all the way on Baker’s Ridge would prevent any long term distance speech with anyone that spoke ill of the Republic. All of these in mind, communication on a world level was brought back to the most basic of methods through letters and any other messages that couldn’t be prevented through neutron filtering.

All of these things were well on the mind of King Ragnvald Thorstein IV along with the anxiety of his lost Queen… “I must not falter… My people need my leadership…” He thought to himself. He stroked his short brown beard in thought as he tried to come to terms with this situation. Ragnvald was aging and had little to support himself, as well as a son to bring his concern upon.

In that moment, his good friend and Prime Minister addressed, “My liege. The broadcast is ready.” Rolf Erling addressed his King.

Before standing to prepare for the speech, Ragnvald asked, “Are you certain the Republic won’t change anything Erling?”

Rolf answered, “They cannot do anything on a national level… Not yet at least.”

Rolf nodded and stood saying, “Very well then. Let us begin.”

“My fellow people of Scandinavia… These are frightening times that we now live in. The Republic has control over most of the planet now, and they have not responded to any of our diplomatic suggestions. But the last thing I want to be seen is a frightened Scandinavia. The last thing I wish to see is our nation to be drawn into a war that will destroy our way of life… I ask you not to join the fighting, and I ask you to stand for what humanity should strive for: Hope and Peace… If we hold on to these principles to our graves, then we have more than a mere chance to survive Sage and his army. I wish you, my people, a happy New Year and may God bless you all…”

Kitee Mobile Suit Base

“It is unfortunate that this message is only national.”

The pilots were only able to consider this for a while until an older voice asked, “Words aren’t going to keep Sage from entering these lands. Is Fenrir squadron back from patrol yet?”

One of the pilots stepped forward and saluted, “Yes sir, they got back a few minutes ago.”

The Captain ordered, “Good, tell the captain of Volsung squadron that it’s his turn to patrol.”

“Right away sir.” The pilot left to find the captain of Volsung squadron until he found him outside his mobile suit. The pilot stood to attention and said, “Sir! Captain Oskari wants your squadron on patrol!”
The commander said, “At ease Ove. I’ll be sure to address that to my squadron.” The command Ove was speaking to was Jacob Thorstein III, Crown Prince of Scandinavia.

Ove responded, “Very good sir. I best get back to my post. Edo you think y9our are adequeate for battle if necessary sir?”

Jacob responded, “Don’t worry about me Ove. I didn’t become Captain just because of my title.” An hour later, Volsung squadron was patrolling the border between the Republic and Scandinavia…
