Skye's Story

Daniel

He was glad that her arm wasn’t broken, he hated how long those bones took to heal, and it was such a nuisance with trying to get things done. She waited until her father was done hugging her. ”I’m not scared, why should I be? You aren’t that scary.” He glanced at the red head who scowled at him a little. Guess some were supposed to be scary besides the snakes? She didn’t hurt his brother though so he didn’t see why she would be any kind of threat. ”The only question I do have is about the Canis and Vixen. You said they were gangs but…”

Kayla

”They’re not quite gangs, Packs is the right term. Canis are the guys, Vixen are the girls.” The boy blinked, looking at her, ”And you’re all…?” ”Wolves, yes.” She crossed her arms, he said they weren’t scary, she didn’t think he had seen a true fight then. Teeth gnashing, claws flying, cutting, fur being flung around. That would scare him; her mind was already thinking if she could get him to see one of the fights. He wouldn’t be thinking they weren’t scary after that.

Zeff looked over at Skye. "Gangs? Really. That was your cover up?" He says with a raised eyebrow. He then looks over at the scowling red head before scowling at her. Why was she acting this way. Aren't alphas supposed to be professionalism and all that junk. Or are they supposed to be so uptight. Boss of everything. He growls to himself a bit closing his eyes and looking over at Skye. He could never imagine him being uptight. Growling at anyone that he thought was below his rank. Not that he thought the human was below or anything. Zeff sighed, "What to do now..." He says quietly, directing it more to him than any one else in the room.

Zeff looked down smiling until Skye mentions something about the Silvers. His head turns to the human. "Yeah, the peacekeepers. I'll be sure you would like them a lot..." He says referring to the people who try keeping the peace between all the shifters in Full Moon Park. He was pretty excited to se when the human was coming to school. All the rest as well. Maybe just the fact that he now had some people to talk to. He never felt to comfortable with his own kind ironically. Especially Vixen.

Daniel

He smiled, listening to Skye, Zeff and Keiro go back and forth about the group the Quicksilvers and him going to school. He was feeling a little better about the whole situation, these people weren’t any different than anyone else, they just happened to be animals sometimes, but they were still people. He couldn’t quite explain it, he did want to know how they got that way but he wasn’t sure they knew themselves, so he wouldn’t contemplate it further. ”I’m not sure when I am going to school yet, maybe a few days? We still have to get things unpacked from boxes and get the rest of the house organized.” A second thought was his brother, was going to school also, do the others shift while at school? Would his bother find out also?

Kayla

”Don’t wait too long to come, sports will be ending in a few weeks, would hate to have the newbie miss out on the games.” She chuckled, they did have the usual team sports like football and soccer and track, but they had slightly different versions of the same things while in their animal forms.

Zeff just listened for a bit on the comments people were making. His eyes shifting to the buzzing phones, then to the eyes, then ending up staring at other random things in the house. Like the wall phone, a painting, some magazines, etc... Zeff continued looking around until the subject of sports got his attention. Eyes focusing on the group once more he decided to speak up. "You would love the cross country team, or the track team. I think those are the coolest to watch. A variety of different species racing each other? Who wouldn't want to see that?" He says with a smile. "The plays and choir is cool to watch too... Using real animals instead of humans dressed in costumes." He chuckles. "Oh! One time they made an entire group filled with bird shifters sing in their animal forms!" He remembered that day. The cries the birds made melded together forming one melodic tone and with the right pitch and music, it was absolutely astounding.

Daniel

He smiled a little listening to them talk about the different things that they had for them to do in their animal forms. It seemed pretty interesting, though he slightly wondered what everyone would be thinking now that he knew what they were, and him not being the same. ”Do you all only have the one animal? Or can you change into different ones also?”

Zeff

Zeff looked over at the human. "Well, Canis can only shift into Canis forms such as Canis Lupus, the gray wolf and just about any other species of wolf in that family. I can shift into arctic, timber, Eurasian, gray, but they all have to be in the same Canis species or the scientific term, Genus." Zeff says before looking over at the other two. "...It varies with what kind of shifter you are. I mean yes I am a canine shifter but you won't see me shifting into a fox anytime soon nor a pet." He spats.

Dr. Hunter Allison

Hunter let out a deep, almost bellowing laugh, slapping Aryia hard on the back, who squeaked and glared indignantly at him. "Yes, Zeff is correct in saying that. Actually, isn't it odd? There are so many different species of the same animal, based on where they come from originally. While I come from a.... breed, yes I hate that word but it's the closest I can think of off hand--that can only shift into one animal, there are some like Aryia and Zeff who can become multiple kinds. Skye is the same way; she just chooses to stick primarily to one." He stretched lazily again, this time scooping up his wife and setting her on his shoulder. This wasn't hard, considering that the lovely woman was about two thirds his height, and a mere half the weight. She huffed slightly, smacking her husband across the back of the head before laughing, a musical tone reflecting that of a sparrow.

Kayla

She nodded at Zeff’s and the doctor’s comment. ”Exactly, we all tend to stick to our own type of shift, each of us sticking with a favorite, common shift. I think there are only a few now that can change into anything they want. And yes, you won’t find us changing into pets”

Daniel

He smiled listening, he hadn’t done too many searches on the animals, had only read about the basics in the books that he had, which didn’t help much as they were all stories, and fiction. He knew that when he got home he was definitely going to spend some time on his computer and study different animals. ”It seems you all have a great dislike for pets.”

Zeff

Zeff grunts. "Especially us Canis seeing that, humans have practically bred 400 species of pets from one single animal." He looks at the ground. "Not to mention you've tamed our lesser canine fellows like foxes and coyotes, even wolves themselves." Zeff sighs. "It also makes us seem weak and lesser than our humans selves like what we are now." He says before looking down at his human self. "Not trying to be mean or offend humans or anything but it's hard to like the term pet..." He says before grabbing and taking a bite of a sandwich.

Daniel

He nodded to them, as they were explaining why each of them didn’t like the term “Pet”. That made sense, seeing as they were all some sort of animal and the term pet made it sound like they had no mental capacity. He took his sandwich and ate it all in a few bites, he should probably get home soon anyways, he had things to do and his parents were going to start wondering where he went if he didn’t at least tell them where he was. ”Well, thanks for letting me know, and I’ll make sure not to cause too much trouble. But I should be getting back soon, still have things to unpack.” He stood and nodded to Skye’s parents, ”Thank you for the tea and sandwich. Maybe I’ll see you in school?” The last he addressed to the others, he knew he would be starting school in a day or two.

Daniel

He watched as Skye jumped up from the couch, and swayed. He didn’t think she should be doing much work considering how bad she was hurt. He smiled a little as she suggested that Keiro go get more people to help them move in and get settled. ”That would be great; I think my parents would like that.” He started walking to the door, knowing Skye was most likely going to follow him, he wasn’t sure if she was relieved or not about his reaction to him finding out their secret. She probably still was going to ask him questions, strange seeing as he should be the one to be asking the questions nonstop. He waited until they were just out of ear shot of her parents, at least as far as he figured they could hear, he didn’t know if their senses changed being what they were. ”You sure you want to help? You got hurt pretty bad.” He glanced at her arm, which was still a dark shade of purple.

Zeff listened to Skye carefully and almost immediately knew what she was doing. Zeff wanted to help out regardless of whether it would make the humans part of the 'crowd' or not. Zeff was quite bored if you could call it that. Living in the same town you knew since you were a small kid just gets boring after a while. In fact, the only thing that is ever really exciting is when they have to beat up Darus's goons or even better. Darus himself. But all the battles usually ended up with someone injured like Skye and Zeff didn't really want any other people getting hurt.

Zeff watched as the human had walked over with Skye to the side of the house, most likely talking about her injured arm the way the human cautiously glanced at it. He didn't want to disturb their conversation, knowing Skye she would probably play it off cool as if she didn't have venom traveling through her veins. Instead he would have to talk to the next best thing. Zeff turned his head toward Keiro just as he finished his sandwich. "Hey Keiro, can I come help?" He wasn't really sure if he was to talk to a Silver or the human his self. He didn't even know if he was needed at all since there were a good bit of Silvers probably willing to help out. All he knew was that he had nothing to do when he got home and wouldn't mind helping the human family settle in.

Daniel

He nodded once to Skye with a small smile. ”Ok then, just don’t push yourself too much.” He led her over to the house and back inside where his parents seemed somewhat relieved to see him and his brother had calmed down. Sitting on the counter with a glass of milk and a handful of cookies, the little squirt could be satisfied with almost any type of food. ”Don’t worry; we’re all fine, a few scrapes and bruises but nothing bad.” His mother looked only slightly satisfied, ”Are you sure Daniel? Are there any more out there? No one got bit?” He glanced at Skye briefly, he didn’t want her to freak out, plus he didn’t think the bite would be the same as a regular snake bite, would it? ”No, you don’t need to worry mother, just watch out for snakes ok? That’s all, there are a lot of large dogs here that look large enough to be wolves but you only need to watch for snakes.” His mother frowned; she would rather not have to worry about dangerous animals at all but nodded. ”Oh, and Skye is bringing friends over to help us unpack.” The woman tilted her head, ”You don’t need to do that dear, we can manage ourselves.”

Kayla

She set her mug on the table, giving a nod to the two doctors and headed out the door once everyone had left. Then the Canis poked his head in, saying they needed her help getting some of the Silvers. He then bounded off the porch, shifting and heading down the street. She sighed a little, guess they were recruiting them to help the humans. She walked out, shifting on the porch and bounding down the street, by now they could be anywhere in town. She headed to the park, she knew she would find a few there. She saw Kiero running in front of her and she decided she could check out the edges of town, she could find the multi-shifters there.

Daniel

He smiled at his mother, ”They’re just going to help. They want to get to know us.” His mother nodded, ”Ok then, if any of you need anything let me know.” He nodded right as his father walked in. ”What’s going on now?” He smiled, ”Skye invited friends over to come and help us move in.” His father nodded and smiled to Skye. ”That’s great, thank you Skye.”

Chris

He sat on the counter, swinging his legs back and forth while he munched on a cookie and watched the adults and the older kids talk. He was still a little flustered from everything that had happened before, that was why he stayed inside with Dan to play videogames. Those animals were strange, almost like they were talking to each other, but that wasn’t possible. He took another cookie, dunking it in the glass of milk; he was going to stay inside. No more animals for him.

Kayla

She ran to the edge of town to the place where many of the bird shifters hung out. This area was full of berry bushes and fruit trees. She padded around, a few of the birds in the area poking their heads out as things were starting to go silent. Not many wolves bothered the birds, and rarely came over in their animal forms. She glanced at them. Where are the Silvers? Skye has a job for you guys. There’s a human family moving in and she wants your help. A couple birds flew over, a small sparrow, a robin and a tiny blue bird. Skye wants us to help? Come on show us!! She dipped her head in a nod, Follow me then…Make sure you bring clothes, it is a human family. She took off, being by herself, without her pack, she felt somewhat vulnerable.

Daniel

His father nodded, ”Great, the more the merrier.” He chuckled and picked up Chris, putting him on his shoulder. ”enough with the cookies! You’re like an endless pit!” Chris stuck his tongue out, ”No! That’s Dan, mama calls me the disposal.” Daniel laughed as they headed back out to get more boxes to bring into the house.

Kayla

The three birds followed behind her quickly, they flew past her, and each headed in a different direction. They all came back quickly, shifted back to their human forms and in clothes. The three girls followed behind her, each of them talking to themselves. She barked at them to hurry up and not follow behind, their chatter more birdlike than she would care for. She would show them to the house, then leave, she couldn’t too close to the family, the pack may not like it. They may not chase humans like the Vipers do, but they didn’t get close to them like the Silvers wanted them to do. The Vixens kept to themselves, didn’t what was necessary to the benefit of the pack.

Zeff continued on his walk with the other two shifters. He didn't much favor those who shifted into human pets but these two were an exception. After about ten minutes walking with them, they seemed pretty cool. The oldest(The one who was a Silver) was named Caleb. He had a good sense of humor and entertained Zeff all the way to the humans house. However, Conor was quite the opposite. He didn't say much throughout the entire trip. Along the way he would nod his head or just say yes, chuckle sometimes. Zeff could tell these two didn't get on good terms with each other well, as far as he could tell, Conor didn't seem to like his brother much.

Course this didn't bother Zeff because he didn't have any older or younger siblings. Sometimes though, having to deal with the awkwardness between the two could almost be unbearable for the Canis and he would sometimes regret bringing the younger here but he knew everything will be well worth it when the human has blended in with the society and the town is safe.

Once they had arrived, Zeff saw that the Tamaskan and crane shifter had arrived and were talking on the front yard. Zeff found this a good time to wait for Skye and the human. Kayla and Keiro. Mind wandering around the group, he wonders about the people he has encountered today. Skye, the Human, Keiro, and Kayla. Mostly Kayla, but that was because she was the only Canis he has met up with today. Probably the first alpha he has ever talked to as well as the Human. In all his life, Zeff would have never thought that he would have a glimpse at a Human in the towns perimeter as well as an alpha. And it all happened thanks to that very human. That's why he was somewhat thankful for the humans arrival.

After another good 5 minutes Zeff decided to take a quick run to his house and get his clothes on so he could shift into his human form. Immediately dashing off to his house for 5 minutes, running into his house, putting on his clothes for another 5 minutes, and running back in a good 9 minutes(He ran faster in his wolf form). Once he had yet again arrived out of breath, the total number of minutes was...19 minutes. Clearly out of breath from the very quick errand, he slowly walked over to the house and leaned his back up against the wall.

Daniel

He followed Skye outside, his dad seemed a bit surprised at how fast the others got there, and how many there were. ”There is still about half the trailer full of boxes and furniture that need to be taken inside. We’ll start there, and then we can start unwrapping things.” Daniel helped get everyone by the truck and started handing out boxes, it was pretty simple since all of them were well labeled. Chris climbed all the way to the back and pushed boxes to the front were his dad handed the boxes down to the kids.

Kayla

The girls she led over immediately got to work, while she stayed back and glanced at everyone there. She didn’t shift back because she didn’t plan on staying, she had to get to the pack, it was late enough as it was. She stayed out of sight and dashed down the back alleys behind most the of the trailer ark type homes, passed the edge of town and out into the woods to her pack.

Daniel

He heard some yelling coming from outside and he quickly followed Skye back outside. Much of the other kids seemed to be…cheering. He blinked confused for a moment then looking over or around kids and once he stepped to the side to see, he first saw Kiero and a girl who had come with him, both running down the street. They were both holding food, attempting to keep a hold of it while they both booked it down the street, away from more animals. By the looks of it, he would guess they were strays, but being the way this town was he wasn’t going to comment on it, instead joining in on the cheering going on around him.

Zeff

Zeff quickly turned his head around to see the rabbits come with food along with some other stray animals. Zeff couldn't hold in a bit of chuckling as the rabbits high tailed away from the strays. Most seemed to be cheering for them to hurry and beat the strays it seemed or to not lose the food which was what Zeff was thinking at the moment. Zeff watched the rabbits run at all their might, which was pretty fast, away and towards the house. Zeff walked down the stares and began to cheer along with the small group.
