Introduction
my.Generation.
It's not where they've been, it's where they're going.
Plot
This is based off the short-lived television show on ABC that aired about six months ago. It was an awesome storyline in my opinion and didn't get the chance that it deserved. I recently remembered this show and decided that it would make a great roleplay if we had the right people and characters. Anyways, here's what the story is:
A documentary tv show crew showed up to a public high school in Arizona and filmed a select eight students graduating that year in 2001. The project of the show is to film the group of seniors and their lives in their last year of high school. They are all different in some way, all part of different cliques and groups, but their lives secret to the school's community are much different than their cliques.

It is now 2011 and the documentary crew is back to tape the lives of the people that once were in the graduating class of 2001. Though they have grown, these twenty-somethings haven't changed much. It seems as if high school followed them till now and they are dealing with the same drama and issues that they faced as seniors in high school. See below for the descriptions of each character.
The Students
The Relationship Organizer has been moved to it's own OOC section.
The Jock
Derrick Sanders
In 2001, he was the first string varsity quarterback and everyone looked up to him. He had a promising future ahead of him as he got good grades, and was offered scholarships for football not even halfway through his senior year. He was best friends with the Nerd and had a secret relationship with the Goth Chick, though he went out with the Prep all through high school, on and off.
In 2011, he is now married to The Prep, and is a sports announcer for the Arizona Cardinals. He still has feelings for the Goth Chick though, who lives in California at the moment. He has lost touch with the Nerd.
The Nerd
Brandon Yoder
In 2001, as said before he was best friends with the Jock. He was in all AP classes, and was the top in his class and Valedictorian. He had a huge high school crush on the Prep, but never did anything about it because she always liked The Jock and he didn't want to go after his best friend's girl. He recieved a scholarship to Yale and moved to New Haven.
In 2011, The Nerd now lives in Texas and works as a failing artist. He dropped out of Yale after the first year and lost contact with his family because he thought he'd be a failure. He is now dating The Bitch, but they aren't working out together. She is extremely bossy torwards him and he feels unheard. He still has feelings for the The Prep and wonders what could have been.
The Prep
Jamie Sanders
In 2001, She was the most popular girl in school and was your typical, shallow and childish preppy girl. This was mainly only an act though. She went out with The Jock, but only because they were both the hottest couple in the school. There were never big feelings for each other, but they managed to stay with each other by content.
In 2011, she is now a nurse at the Hospital in Arizona and is married to The Jock. She recently found out that she was pregnant and is now nine months in and could have the baby at any time. Her sister is The Bitch and is coming in to Arizona with The Nerd to see the baby and be with The Prep during it.
The Bully
Chad Mullens
In 2001, The Bully well, was the bully of the school. He mostly messed with the nerds and outcasts, including The Nerd, and the Outcast. He's cousins with the Stoner, and went out with the Goth Chick, though they don't speak anymore. He went to community college afterwards.
In 2011, The Bully is now the Nerd's best friend in Texas, even though he picked on him alot in high school. He is also going to Arizona along with The Nerd because The Nerd doesn't want to be alone with The Bitch as long as possible. The Bitch has lately been having an affair with The Bully unkown to the Nerd.
The Bitch
Layla Hanson
In 2001, she was the bitch that always talked behind other girls backs and got in to loads of trouble. She constantly got into fights with other girls and was the sister of the Prep. She had always liked The Nerd but never did anything until they ran into each other later in Texas.
In 2011, she is now a therapist and makes a good amount of money. She keeps in touch with The Prep and has been dating The Nerd for the past year and a half. She is having an affair with the Bully, but wants to stop so she doesn't hurt The Nerd any more, but she can't deny her feeling for The Bully.
The Outcast
Sarah Scott
In 2001, she was the outcast at school and never changed to fit the stereotype of the cool kid at school. She stayed true to herself, though it was hard sometimes. She was friends with the Stoner and they always had an attraction torwards each other, but never acted on it because it would make things awkward. She went to college in California for journalism and has lost touch with the Stoner since he went to war.
In 2011, she moved back to Arizona and has recently become friends with the Prep now that they've matured. She is still single, but has a daughter that is six. That may end soon though because The Stoner has just been able to come home and is coming back to Arizona.
The Goth Chick
Tarah Hawthorn
In 2001, she was the girl everyone was afraid of because she dressed in black and wore creepy makeup. She liked to stand out though and didn't care what people thought. During high school she had a weird attraction to the Jock and he did too, though they never acted upon it until after high school was over. She moved to California after high school ended.
In 2011, The Goth Chick is in California with her son of eight. She is single and has never been married. She knows that the boy is The Jock's, but has waited until now to tell the Jock. She is headed down to Arizona now to tell him the news.
The Stoner
Oscar Suarez
In 2001, he was the stoner in school, always getting high after school and partied 24/7. He was best friends with the Outcast and they always liked each other, but didn't act on it because they were friends. He's cousins with the Bully. He went into the army right after school and fought in the war for ten years.
In 2011, The Stoner has just gotten back to Arizona from the war and is set to meet the Outcast again and ask her on a date, which he never did in high school. He knows she is headed down here from mutual friends and is waiting for her return.
The Straight Arrow
Zachary Sanders
In 2001, he was the kid that you always thought should lighten up. He took things very seriously and you had to watch yourself when you joked around him. He's the older brother of Derrick by a year and constantly butted heads with the Bully constantly.
In 2011, he is also returning from the army in Afghanistan and is coming back to Arizona for the first time since he left to war once high school was over. He is hoping to make it back in time to see his brother's baby girl being born, but he isn't aware that The Bully is coming to Arizona as well, and they never really left on the best of terms.

Kurokiku wrote:The concept of the RP was not original material, but i didn't necessarily grade down for this. The premise was clear, but the character-slot format (i.e. this is character A who was like this in high school and is now married to character B and having an affair with character C) doesn't leave much room for creative character creation, and the characters don't ever do much to go beyond the stereotypes they follow. You established the ties between the characters before I got any sense of who they were as individuals. I understand that the concept of the source material is focusing on that, but the individual characterization was shallow because you were all a bit eager to rush into explaining who was doing what with whom. There’s so much focus on events that I don’t even get a sense of why it matters to me; I don’t empathize with anyone’s struggles. Everything is told substantially more than shown, and there’s a scarcity of sensory appeal. Watch your formatting-some people need more paragraphs and less awkward test blocks. There also seem to be some continuity and flow issues, as thought he authors were skipping chunks of time without even a sentence accounting for the passage. Your mechanics and formatting were strong overall, and I had no problem reading your writing or understanding what was going on, but overall I found the experience a bit bland. I think the best way to improve on this would be to allow a little more creative freedom in determining how the characters relate to one another- determining ahead of time who is having extramarital affairs with whom, for example, seems to be taking the idea of character "slots" a bit too far.

"Ya, I've always pictured myself being the greatest player to ever play in the NFL," said Derrick to camera, smiling. "Four superbowl wins by the time I'm forty." He then looked over to his girlfriend Jamie and wrapped his left arm around her. "And of course, I'd have my girl with me the whole way." He then looked over to Tarah for a split second, but turned back to the camera and pretended nothing had happened. He looked over to Brandon who was next to Jamie on the other side. "Oh yah. And my best bud Brandon living next door with his super model wife." He smirked and punched him on the arm playfully. "He knows it's true. He's single ladies!"
It was early morning, and the sun hadn't even rose yet. Derrick woke up and looked over at the clock. It was 5:00 in the morning. He hated it when he woke up real early. He rolled over and looked up to the ceiling, deciding if he'd get up yet. He knew he wouldn't be able to get back to sleep, and even if he did, it'd only be an hour's sleep before he went to work. He rolled over again, now facing Jamie who was still fast asleep. He put his hand on her side and kissed her on the forehead, and then rolled out of bed.
He moved out to the living room and sat down on the couch, then turned on the TV. It suddenly blasted out the volume and turned on. He grabbed the remote and quickly turned it down, looking back into the hallway to make sure he didn't wake up Jamie. She needed all the sleep she could get. The baby was coming any minute and then they wouldn't get any sleep for a year or more. He dreaded those days that were nearing quickly. Derrick had been hoping for a while that once Jamie had the baby, things would get better.
They had been fighting a lot lately, and Derrick had thoughts about leaving, and they'd divorce, but that would be the worst thing to do since she was about to have the baby. Besides, maybe they were just getting in fights alot because of the pregnancy hormones. He didn't think so in the back of his head, but ignored this most of the time. In all truth though, they had been fighting before that too; it just got worse when she got pregnant. They had fought so bad one time that he had cheated on her with Tarah, which he could never live down. He still hadn't told Jamie and he felt like the biggest jackass everytime he though about it. One day, it was all just going to come out, and that was the day he dreaded.

Layla tossed a little, half awake and half asleep. She rolled over to her right side, and unwillingly opened her eyes. She looked upon the clock and saw 5:00 am. She sighed and rolled onto her back, staring up at the ceiling. She crossed her hands over her chest and turned her head to see Brandon sound asleep. She rolled once more to her left, and snuggled closer against him. She sighed when she felt her skin come in contact with his, and she used one hand to gently stroke his cheek. Layla took a deep breath before sitting up on the side of the bed, running one hand through her long brown locks.
She started to get up before she turned to see her cellphone on the charger. She didn't open it and see her conversation with Chad, she just turned her face away from it shamefully. She then turned around and saw Brandon still sleeping, his face at complete ease. Layla put one hand against her temple and stood up, leaving their bedroom quietly and closing the door behind her. She walked down the hallway, looking at the floor the whole time before walking into the kitchen and sitting in one of the high stools before the island.
Layla looked up and saw the cabinet where she kept all of her old stuff. She climbed out of the chair slowly and walked over to it, pulling open the bottom drawer. She saw the old high school yearbook, and placed one hand over her mouth to hide her smile. She picked it up and returned to her chair, setting the book lightly on the counter. She flipped through all the pages until she found the senior pictures, moving through all of them until she found hers. Her picture was in the very first row. Chad's picture was in the very last row on the same page. Both of their pictures were the only ones that weren't smiling. Everyone else, including her sister, pictures looked sweet and cheery, while theirs looked bored. She flipped to the very last page of pictures and saw Brandon, and she suppressed a smile. The guy she had a crush on so long was finally hers, and she didn't even treat him like she should. She closed the book, and pushed it away from her, sitting at the counter a little longer.

The sun was beating down on Chad as he finished up his morning jog. It was around 4:00 A.M when he had left his small small apartment earlier this morning. He was panting slightly and he paused looking down at his black watch. 5:05 A.M. His breath was ragged and sweat was pouring from his body, leaving several wet spots on his black t-shirt.He shook his head and ran his fingers through the shaggy brown mane he called hair. He was debating calling Layla but decided against it. It was too early and Brandon was probably home. Brandon. The thought of his friend made him frown. All of the lies and the secrets, maybe back in high school he could have done it, but now that he was friends with him ....it just felt wrong.
Did he love Layla?Chad wasn't sure.He didn't quite know if he loved anyone or ever really had. He let out a small sigh and inhaled sharply before beginning to run back towards his apartment.As his feet pounded against the sidewalk Chad began debating with himself about coming clean. It wasn't like they could keep up this charade forever, and Layla probably had the same feelings about it that he did. Keep cheating with his best friends girlfriend? Or come clean and end up maybe losing both?
For now though he planned to just keep running.

Tarah made her way down her hallway to Dillon's room, with a cup of coffee in her hand she flipped on the light in the hallway and opened his door. "Dillon baby it's time to get up and get ready for school", she said in to the dim lit bedroom, the little boy sat up and ruffled his hair while yawning. "Hey mom, okay at least after today I won't have to get up so early", he said in mid yawn, Tarah chuckled, "Yeah squirt come on I want to be at work on time this morning". She flipped his light on as she walked out of the room, "Ahh! I'm blind!", he squealed. Dillon was soon dressed and had his back pack, he sat down at the small kitchen table in the cozy apartment. "Hey mom", he said as put a spoon full of Lucky Charms in his mouth, he swallowed and got a kin of sad look on his face. Tarah looked up from her lap top where she was going over the last pictures she had taken for work, "What is it squirt?", she asked with a concerned look on her face. "Do you think that dad is going to like me?", he asked, Tarah felt her heart break and almost had tears stream down her face. "I don't know baby I hope so, but he's got his own family to worry about and he doesn't even know about you. I'm really sorry that I didn't tell him sooner Dillon I was scared what he would think", she walked over and put her arms around him. "No matter what your dad thinks, you'll always have me. Okay anything that you ever want to talk about honey you know you can tell me, you know that right". Dillon looked up at her and smiled, that smile that made him look like Derrick every single time, "It's okay mom I understand", Tarah looked down at her watch. "Crap! buddy we got to get going or your going to be late for you last day of school", she said grabbing her briefcase, and sticking an apple in her mouth. "Oh no that would be the end of the world", said Dillon sarcastically as they rushed out the door.

Loud voices had awoken Jamie from her deep sleep, and as her blue eyes shot open, she was disappointed to find that those voices were coming from downstairs, and her husband was gone. Him and that damn TV, probably ESPN again. What ever happened to the days where they’d lay in bed all day, or wake each other up with soft kisses and whispers? Ah, that’s right. This was what married life was like.
With a roll of her eyes, Jamie sat up a little in the bed and reached for her phone. No missed calls. Normally, she might wake to find messages or urgent calls from the hospital, but they knew better than to call her in to work now that she was nine months into her pregnancy. She would be due any day now, and if she didn’t have the baby soon, she feared they’d have to induce her. What if the baby didn’t want out? What child would want to come into the world when their mother and father could barely stay in the same room together without driving each other crazy? Well, to be fair, things had only gotten a little more heated with her hormones all over the place because of her pregnancy, but still. Jamie and Derrick had never been the best at expressing their feelings, or saying what was on their mind. Instead, she let things go and thought she could pretend to herself and others that she just didn’t care, and that everything was fine. But the relationship didn’t feel fine. Jamie feared that Derrick might ask for a divorce, and she never felt more alone. While a divorce had been on the back of both of their minds for years now, Jamie never went through with it, always finding a reason not to. And now, especially with a little one on the way, her and the baby needed him.
Layla! Please tell me that you’re still flying over here, you promised. I really need you! Text me soon, and Derrick and I will pick you up from the airport when you get in. She texted to her twin sister, needing family more than ever right now. Gwen had been a good friend to her and offered good advice, especially since she had a child of her own. But again, family was family. After setting her phone back down, Jamie slowly, and carefully slid out of bed with a small groan. Her back had been killing her, especially during the last month, and she couldn’t wait to get their baby girl out of her body, and into her arms. Pulling her shirt over the baby bump, Jamie followed the sound of the TV into the living room where she found Derrick sitting on the couch.
“Morning,” She mumbled, rubbing her eyes until they focused enough for her to read the clock. She knew it was early, but she still rolled her eyes anyway when she saw that it was only 5:15am. “Going in to work early again? I thought you said you were going to work on the crib. You know I can’t put it together, the directions are confusing and I can’t bend over. Babe, the baby can come at any minute…” She reminded, as if he really needed it. She knew she was probably nagging, but perhaps she was using the crib excuse to hide the real reason she was upset; that he was going to work at all, when she was this close to possibly giving labor.

Oscar had decided that he hated coaches. Sure, he'd picked the cheapest one, but when they'd said it would take him to Arizona city he'd thought they actually meant the city, not some stupid depot about four miles outside of the main city. Bastards. Everyone else seemed to have known this and had friends come to pick them up. Why did his lack of organisation always have to bite him in the ass?
Thanks for nothing, he thought, but a smile was still tugging at his lips as he slung his backpack over one shoulder and started making his way towards the city, following alongside of the dusty road. He lowered his large sunglasses over his freckled brown eyes as he walked, glad that the sun wasn't out and beating down on them. It was the start of summer break, or would be soon, anyway. For once in his life, Oscar had money in his pocket-- he wasn't sure how he'd managed an honorable discharge instead of a general one, but it seemed that just completing a couple of tours of duty was enough to bump him out of that. Now he had to figure out what the hell he wanted to do next.
It was just like high school again.
"Where will you be in ten years' time?" he asked the air in a mock-up of the camera man's voice as he walked-- as a car shot past he held out a thumb but was ignored, as he knew he would be. His hair was already starting to grow out since his discharge from the army. "Same fuckin' place, same fuckin' problem," he replied to his own question with a couple of nods. "But this time, there's going to be one thing I don't screw up." After he said this, he clicked his tongue and thought of Gwen. He wished they'd stayed in touch-- he was just such a disorganised mess and ten years was a long time. He wondered how she was now, what she was doing. Was she successful? Married? Oh, hell no! He refused to think of that. He wondered not only about Gwen but all of the familiar faces he might bump into.
His thumb was still dragging in the air. Suddenly there was a series of honks and a passing car slowed down. OK, he was only a couple of miles outside of the main city now but every little helped!
"Sweet!" he exclaimed, heading for the car window. "Can you mish me over nearer to the city centre?" he asked.
Finally, he was on his way.

The alarm clock started to blare and Brandon reached over and hit snooze. "Urr..", he put the pillow over his head, "Somebody stop the world Layla I want to get off", when he didn't hear a response he sat up. "Layla?", but she wasn't next to him. He sighed that had been happening allot lately, he got up and made his way to the shower. Letting the water pore over him, he was beginning to think that Layla was not as interested in him as she used to be. It had never been a stable relationship, he always felt like she had hooked up with him for lack of options. But then again he wasn't much better, he knew that she was Jamie's sister and well why not. "At least you have a girlfriend if you had stayed at Yale you would have been single for the next eternity", he said to himself. He shut off the shower and stepped out on to the mat, grabbing a towel and wrapping it around his waist. He looked at the suitcases in the corner, they had a flight to Arizona this afternoon, they were going to Jamie and Derricks. He was looking forward to seeing them both, he couldn't beleive in had been ten years since he had seen them both. "The power couple of high school", he said smirking he got dressed and went out to the kitchen, "Hey hun we need to call Chad and make sure he's ready for us to come get him, so we can get the airport on time. You know how he likes to flex in front of the mirror and looses track of time", he said with a chuckle. He had actually become good friends with Chad they worked for the same company and Chad had "cooled off", in the past ten years. Don't get me wrong he can still be a huge dick sometimes but at least Brandon wasn't shoved into lockers with stinky gym shorts. He and Brandon had actually started working out together and Brandon had put on some muscle he wasn't the skinny little two pound weakling he had been in the past. He went over to the coffee maker and poured himself a cup. He turned around and noticed Layla looking at there high school yearbook, he looked across the kitchen island, "God I was such a dork look at me, what was I thinking wearing that shirt really", he laughed. He put his hand on Layla's, "Your sister will be all right you'll see before you know it she'll have that little girl. Then Jamie will have her twirling around the house in pink tutu's", he chuckled.
OOC Notes
"I'm not going to work early, I just woke up early. It doesn't matter anyways, because I can't finish the damn crib in thirty minutes," he said, his voice slowly raising. He lowered it back down though, because he didn't want to stress Jamie out, since that was probably the worst thing to do to someone who was nine months pregnant. He put his hand up to his face and covered it, deciding what to say. "I'll do it tonight. Just...get off my back about it."
Derrick moved out of the living room and started to go upstairs to take a shower, but then looked back to Jamie in the kitchen. "When's Layla coming in?" He hoped she'd say never. Most of the time he and Jamie got into a fight, she'd end up calling him after Jamie told the story. Then Layla would nag him for an hour about it. The two never really got along much.
OOC Notes
"Yeah, I'll call him. And I have to call Jamie, too. Let me go get my phone." Layla said, kissing his cheek on the way back to their room. She unplugged her phone from its charger and saw a new message from Jamie. "Layla! Please tell me that you’re still flying over here, you promised. I really need you! Text me soon, and Derrick and I will pick you up from the airport when you get in." She read it and smiled, knowing how Jamie was probably freaking out at the moment. We're leaving in about thirty minutes I think, I can't wait to see you, I miss you! I have to see how fat you are now with that baby inside you, haha. Love you Jamie! BTW, tell Derrick I said that his best friend is coming, MWAH! Layla sent the message and then scrolled over to her contacts.
Chad's name was not far from the top, and Layla took a deep breath before pressing his contact and the call button. She walked back into the kitchen, wedging the phone between her ear and shoulder before she turned back to Brandon. "Hungry?" She mouthed to him, motioning to the fridge.

He let out a sigh and he walked towards his living room, placing his keys on his small coffee table before he plopped himself on the couch.He heard the sound of heavy panting behind him and turned his head to see his three and a half foot tall Great Dane staring up at him."Hey buddy....looks like were gonna have to get ready to go huh?They better let dogs on planes or I'll be offically pissed."He reached his hand forward and patted the dogs head, pushing his fingers through the dogs white fur.
"Brrrrrrrrrrrrr.Brrrrrrrrr".Chad looked over towards his coffee table to see his phone vibrating and threatening to fall off the table. He reached forwards and grabbed it swiftlly, seconds before it was about to fall off.Layla. Probably wanting to ask about the plane ride or something.He pressed the green call button and pressed the phone an inch from his ear."Hey."He said in a low deep voice, watching his dog begin to circle his leather couch.
"If this is about the trip I'm already packed. Just went out for a run and was about to shave and get ready.."

She rolled the window down, "Ready to ride squirt?", she asked, Dillon smiled real big. "Hey Miss H can we come over after awhile", asked a boy named Kody, "Nope sorry hun me and Dillon are gonna be out of town for a couple of weeks", she smiled. "And we have a plane to catch this evening so we won't be home but I promise that when Dill gets back he'll call you guys and you can come over for a sleep over how does that sound", she said with a big smile. "Awesome Miss H bye Dill!", they said as they ran off, "Well buddie you excited?", she asked as they pulled away from the school. "Yeah it will be nice to see grandma and grandpa", said Dillon, Tarah knew better thats not what he was excited about. He was excited at the possibility of meeting Derrick.
When they got home she gathered the packed suitcases and threw in the trunk of the car. "Hey squirt make sure you got everything you want in your carry on cus I don't want to hear I'm bored mom", she laughed. He rolled his eyes he was already playing his Nintendo DS, "Yeah I got everything mom". "I-pod, snacks, gatoraide, video games, books, personal DVD player, DVD's, the kitchen sink", said Tarah listing stuff off. "Yeah mom I got it!", he said in an annoyed tone of voice. "Okay, I think we're ready", as they left out the elderly lady that lived next door stepped out. "Hello Tarah on your way out of town?", asked Mrs Bailey, "Yes, mam and thank you Mrs Bailey for offering to pick up my mail while we're gone". She waved to the old woman as they pulled out of the drive way heading to the airport.

"Ten Years huh...?" Zach leaned back in his seat, his hands coming up behind his head. "Entrepreneur, trillion dollar company, giant house, three Bentley's..." a faint grin showed itself as Zach shook his head before sitting up in his seat. "Honestly..." He messed with the metacarpal of his left thumb, "I couldn't tell you where I'd be..." He shrugged, a sinking feeling forming in his stomach from a faint thrill of nervousness. He glanced at his brother, then back at the camera for a split second before looking back down at his hands. "I just know I won't be here for too much longer." He paused for a moment, his right hand contracting and making a joint in his hand pop. He tended to do that when he was either nervous or not sure what to do next.
Zach's hand came from one side of his body and grabbed the seat belt, clicking it in just seconds before the flight attendant walked by. He looked like he had been through hell and back, and to tell the truth he had been. His dress blues were neat and without a single wrinkled, his pins and medals hanging on the left side of his chest. Zach wanted to go back to sleep for the next thirty minutes or so while the plane landed, but he couldn't... He was having one of those feelings like someone was watching him. Zach's left eye opened barely, staring through a crack in between two seats in front of him. A single eye looked through the crack, a bright blue eye which belonged to a young child. Zach found a smile coming to his face, hearing the kid in the seat giggle and turn back into their seat. Zach closed his eye though his smile stuck with him for a few minutes. His mind felt a little more at ease as he drifted back off to sleep for just a few more minutes.
We have landed at out destination... Please exit in an-
Zach tuned out the woman on the speaker system, slowly standing up and grabbing his carry on, a black messenger bag which he had since high school, more specifically freshman year. It was torn up and if you slapped it just right Middle Eastern dust would fly just about everywhere. He made his way through the flood of people making their way to the exit, giving up his position to a few of the elderly if given the chance. There were four other Marines on the same flight as himself, running into one of them as they reached the exit door from the plane. "Man I haven't been home in a little over eight months..." The guy maybe a little younger than Zach said, his eyes apparently catching the Silver Star on his chest, as well as the Purple Heart. "Try Three years..." Zach mumbled, the younger Marine not catching what he aid immediately, "Sir?" Zach shook his head, "Nothing, have fun while you're here soldier." The other Marine grinned, "Aye aye, Sir."
Zach entered the actual airport already, letting out a breath through his nose as he reached in his bag, pulling out a dusty iPhone. He flipped the phone on and navigated to his text messages, finding one from his uncle which gave his brothers current Address. He stood there for a second before making his way to baggage retrieval.
"You know you should come see your dad before you do back..."
"I don't think he ever wants to see me again. At least that's what he told me."
"Don't let that over grown bastard get to you. I had to live with that bastard for almost twenty years... He's proud of you no matter what he says."
The conversation played through the back of his mind, making him grit his teeth a little. He had gotten his things from the baggage center, making his way through customs and out to the main entrance. Zach flagged down a cab and gave the driver the address, "Yeah buddy, this one's on me." The driver replied, Zach raising an eyebrow, now remembering how most people seemed to do everything possible for you when you were on leave...
-About an hour later-
"Here you are." Zach stared at the front of the house, grinning a little as his hand came up and grabbed the handle to the door. He paused for a moment before actually getting out, looking at the driver with a smile on his face, "I can't thank you enough, sir." He said, his hand covered by a white glove extending to the driver. The man took Zach's hand and shook it, "Don't worry about it son..." The driver grinned, "Good luck." Zach nodded to him, going to the back of the van and grabbing the giant duffel bag filled with all of his clothes given to him by the government. He shut the back and gave a wave to the driver before turning and looking at the front of the house again. He stood there for a moment as the car drove off, sighing as he readjusted the white cover on his head before reaching down and grabbing his two bags, walking up to the front door and letting out a breath before bringing his left hand up, pausing for a moment before tapping on the door three times. "Three years..." He mumbled to himself, hearing someone talking in the house, and people moving around.

"Okay, we're about to leave now." She said in a low, sweet voice. "It's gonna be fun." Layla said in the same tone, looking down at the floor. "So, I guess I'll see you soon." She said, pausing before she said, "Bye Chad." Layla removed the phone from her ear and pressed the red end button. She stared at the phone a little longer before emerging from the bathroom.
She heard Brandon say that he was going to start loading up the bags, and she nodded. "Here, I'll help you." She suggested, picking up a few of both of their bags and walking out of the front door. She set a few bags down and unlocked the trunk before tossing the bags in. Once they had everything all loaded up, Layla pressed the trunk door down firmly. She knew that the car ride would be the worst, but after that things could get better. Her and Chad had kept it quiet this long, and she thought that they could hide it a little longer.

Jamie just sighed softly, letting it go. He'll do it tonight, right. When had she heard that before? "Alright, it isn't like you had nine months to do it, or anything." She mumbled quietly to herself. Did he even want this baby to come? She knew that they had their problems; some days better than others, but she hoped for the sake of their new little girl, for once, they could both grow up a little and make this work. They'd made it this long together, why give it all up now?
Turning toward the kitchen to make breakfast, Jamie slowly turned when Derrick asked her when Layla was flying in. "Some time this afternoon. When she calls, we'll need to pick her up; you know how she feels about cabs. She's flying in with Brandon too, I'm sure you two will have lots to catch up on." She nodded, smiling slightly. Derrick had been so close with Brandon in high school, he was one of the few friends of his that she could actually stand. Probably because he was nothing like his other arrogant, egotistical football friends. It was disappointing that they had lost touch, but it wasn't too much longer that Layla started dating Brandon, and she was still able to see him whenever she visited her sister. But Derrick never went. He didn't need to say it, though he someitmes did, but he wasn't the biggest fan of Layla. But still, it had surrpised her that the 'bitch' and 'nerd' of Class of 2001 could make a healthy relationship work. Now, why couldn't the 'jock' and 'prep'?
Just as Derrick was going back up the stairs, there was a knock at the door. They weren't expecting anyone, at least this early, so Jamie curiously volunteered to get the door herself, even in her pajamas. Jamie's blue eyes shot widen open though as she pulled open the door to look back at a fucking blast from the past. Zach's face was recognizable, but he looked so much older and mature since the, what, three years? since she'd last seen him. He'd always looked out for his brother in high school and had his back, which was admirable. And while she may not have been that close with him, she'd been much closer than most because of her relationship, even though off and on, with Derrick.
"Zach?" She gasped a whisper, obviously surprised to see him. Had Derrick told her he was coming? God, she had so much on her mind lately she couldn't even remember half of the things she was told anymore. "Wow, look at you! C'mere," Jamie laughed, leaning in to give the man a hug, whether he wanted one or not. "Can I take your bag?" She asked once she was pulling away, though she had a pretty good idea that she may not be able to lift it, or maybe she shouldn't be lifting anything in her state. "I'll get Derrick, he was just going up to take a shower. Wow, it's great to see you." WIth another laugh, Jamie led Zach inside as she walked back over to the bottom of the stairs.
"Der?" She called out to him, not willing to hike all the way up there. "Derrick! Uh, someone's here to see you!"

"Well its wonderful to see you both hows it going sport?", said Tarah's father addressing Dillon. Dillon smiled real big and ran to him "Grandpa!", he wrapped his arms around his grandfather's waist. The older man picked him up and Dillon hugged his neck, James and Esther Hawthorn where two people who were completely opposite. Esther was an odd character when everybody was into Disco in the 70's Esther was protesting the government. James on the other hand was allot like Derrick, he was the star quarterback for the high school. They had know each other in high school but didn't get together until they were in college together. The hippie and the jock, thought Tarah, her father actually worked with Derrick as a sports announcer, she didn't think that Derrick realized that he was Tarah's father. He was the one that was trying to convince her to talk to him about Dillon the last time they had visited three years ago.
As they made their way to the car with suitcases in tow, as Dillon ran ahead with his grandmother Tarah held back and walked next to her father. "So are you going to talk to Derrick this time?", he asked, "You know he's a decent kid and I don't think that he would be as upset about Dillon as you think he would be", he said putting his hand on Tarah's shoulder. "Yes, Dad but I was going to wait until after Jamie has the baby, I don't want to ruin everything in one fatal swoop", she said with her voice full of worry. "Well Jamie's a good girl too and they were separated when you and Derrick were together weren't they?", he asked. "That's what Derrick told me at the time but somehow I don't think it was entirely the truth", she sighed, as her father placed their bags in the back of the car. He walked over to Tarah and hugged her, "No matter what happens sweetie you'll have me and your mother supporting you all the way okay", he smiled. "Thanks dad", said Tarah as they got into the car and made they way home.

As he turned the shower on, Derrick heard the doorbell ring and rolled his eyes. Who was at the door so early? If it was Layla at the door saying that she was here early, Derrick swore to himself that he'd jump off the second story balcony. He groaned and left the bathroom and into the hallway to ask who was at the door. He saw Jamie at the bottom of the stairs, calling up to Derrick to come downstairs and he squinted to see a large man down in the hallway. Who was that? He finally realized that it was Zach. "Oh my god, Zach." He smiled and moved down the stairs to hug him since they hadn't seen each other for three years and had rarely spoke over mail between. Derrick quickly realized that he was naked, save the towel wrapped around his waist. "Oh shit," he started. He looked over to Zach and said, "I'll be right back."
Derrick bolted upstairs and turned off the shower, and then got into his shirt and boxers again and then slid a pair of basketball shorts on. He got downstairs again and moved over to hug his older brother. "How long are you back?" he asked, expecting the worst.

"This shit is too ..whatever. Alright Demon, Ms.Morris from next door is going to look after you for awhile ok?Be good buddy."He reached forward and gently patted the dogs head before stuffing his phone into his pocket and walking towards his bedroom, where his Nike bag was sitting.He grabbed it quickly when he heard a honk outside, more then likely the shuttle that would be picking him up.
"Later boy and don't get into any of cereal!"He called out before opening his front door and shutting it loudly.

An hour later Chad was pulling his bag out of the the shuttles trunk and throwing it on his back.He tipped the driver a ten and began walking towards the airport.The noise inside was deafining. People yelling in excitement from seeing friends and relatives, kids running around yelling while their parents scolded them just as loudly.Chad ran his fingers through his hair out of habit and began walking towards where flight 102 was waiting.
He looked at his black wristwatch and clicked his tongue impatiently, hoping Layla and Brandon would get there soon.

Zach grinned a little when his brother finally realized who he was. "The one and only." He said with a somewhat rough voice, giving off a laugh as he darted back up the stairs. He glanced at Jamie and shrugged, "He sure hasn't changed a bit..." he had a moderately amused tone to his voice, setting his duffel bag out of the way, readjusting his uniform a little as he stood back up. The patch on his left arm showed he had been promoted a couple of times since they had last seen each other. Three times to be exact. "So how have you..." He paused, glancing at Jamie's stomach and grinning, "Three been doing lately?" Before he could get a response his brother was already coming back down the stairs, Zach opening his arms and giving his brother one of their old bear hugs.
"They allowed me three months leave." He stated, the smile still on his face, "Not coming home for so long kind of helped that out." His right hand came up and slapped against his brothers arm, "So am I going to have a niece or, god forbid, a nephew." he looked over to Jamie, then back to Derrick. He hadn't been in contact with the entire western hemisphere since he was first stationed over in the Middle East. Hell, even after his time in the United States Military Hospital it was at a Naval hospital in Guam... And they're not kidding when they say the women are twice the size of the men.

She was lost in thought after Dillon went running downstairs to tell his grandpa the good news. She sighed, deep down she wanted to see Derrick too, after all these years she still had feelings for him. But then she had thoughts of Jamie and the little baby she was about to give birth to. If she were in that position she would not be very keen on finding out that my husband cheated on her eights years ago. And he knocked the girl up, she laid back on the bed, "God please let him understand, not for my sake but for Dillon's he's already missed out on so much", she felt the warm trickle of tears start to roll down her cheeks. "I really did fuck up everyone's life".

When Layla and Brandon reached the airport, Brandon was rushing to find Chad. The thought of seeing again made her heart beat a little faster. She quickly followed after Brandon, and then she saw Brandon come to a stop. She froze right behind him and looked up to see Chad before her. Her heart skipped a beat before she found her voice again. "Hey, Chad." She said after Brandon said something to him. She walked forward and gave him a light hug, looking into his eyes with her shiny hazel ones, when she pulled away slowly.
"So uh, where's your seat?" Layla said, trying to remove her apparent nervousness. Her hoodie was zipped up just below the bottom line of her black sports bra, giving her a beautiful tired look. She turned around and sat in one of the chairs, still looking up at Chad. The way his hair was tousled brought back memories they shared, and she longed to brush it back like she always did. Instead, she twisted her fingers together in her lap.

"Hey guys thats our flight we better get to the gate", said Brandon. He threw his backpack over his shoulder and he walked ahead of Chad and Layla. He knew something was up between the both of them his just didn't want to admit it. If he jumped to conclusions and broke up with Layla he would end up alone again and he couldn't deal with that. No it was all in his head he was just being paranoid then he saw the look in Layla's eyes he knew that looked he'd looked down at it before. He sighed, and shook his head, "everything is fine". When they made it to the gate he handed the lady his ticket, "Thank you Mr. Yoder you have nice flight", she said she gave Brandon one of those "Gee he's cute looks". He couldn't help but smile back, when he was in high school girls wouldn't give him a first let alone second glance. He could thank Chad for that, when he had decided to use the company gym and run on the treadmill. When Chad came up to him he was worried at first, expecting him to say "Dork" and knock him off. But he didn't he said, "Hey your names Brandon right I think we went to high school together", they spent the rest of the evening reminiscing and with allot of apologizing from Chad about the way he was in high school.

"Now Boarding for flight...."
"Hey guys thats our flight, we better get to the gate."Brandon said over towards Chad and Layla while putting on his backpack. Chad nodded towards him and then turned his head to shoot a smile towards Layla as he begin to make his way over towards the ticket lady."Guess who got the window seat guy?"He said impishly while wagging his eyebrow at Brandon and handing the woman the blue ticket.
~~~~~
Chad sat quietly in his little seat for most of the trip.He had "forgot" to mention the fact he hated flying when Brandon had asked him to come with him to visit Derrick and Layla's sister Jamie.He still had those high school moments when he merely wanted to appear as the cool guy,though doing that while feeling as if your legs were jelly was a bit difficult.
"How...many...more...hours?"He asked slowly turning towards Brandon in the seat near him?
Jamie laughed softly, instinctively placing her small hand over her stomach as Zach rushed back upstairs to change and she caught Zach looking at the baby bump. His question how her and Derrick were doing though would thankfully go unanswered. She wouldn't have answered him honestly, anyway. He'd just gotten back, the last thing he needed to worry about was his brother and his sister-in-law's shaky relationship. To anyone they knew from high school, it was old news. Same shit, different day. Since they started dating Freshman year they'd always been off and on. Even married and ten years later, things hadn't changed.
"You're going to have a niece. And I'm really glad you're here, you'll get to meet her before you have to get back." She said with a sincere smile, truly happy that he was back and could spend time with family. And soon, friends. Looking back at the guys, Jamie decided she was in the way. These two probably wanted to spend some time together, so she politely wanted to give them the space to do so. She excused herself to get breakfast started so the two brothers could catch up.
But first, Jamie rushed upstairs to change out of her pajamas and into a loose sun dress. At this stage in her pregnancy, it was the only thing she could really dress herself in without too much effort. Only flip flops covered her feet as she made her way back down and got started on breakfast, something light at least until the others arrived. Speaking of, she'd leave that to Derrick to; filling Zach in that a few other blasts from the past would be making their arrival today too.
1. I have updated the summary.
2. I'll be taking over the Stoner so Chirsty will actually have something to do other than be Jamie's friend...Instead of making a new character though, I think I'll be lazy and just go off of the original guy, Oscar.
That is all.
P.S. Thank you Starbuck for letting me know :)
