~ Lord and Lady Dickinson ~
---
The final rays of the sun settled into the west, and an evening promising of sin and debauchery awoke.
In a well-lit mansion overlooking the Thames, dozens of well-dressed servants scurried about making the final preparations for the New Years Eve ball later that night. No expense had been spared on this little get-together, which was sure to have over a hundred guests at the very least.
The majority of the entertainment was set to take place in the elaborate main hall of the house. With ceilings nearly 20 feet tall and three ornamented crystal chandeliers dangling overhead, the now relatively empty space was sparkling with potential. Extending from either side of the huge central room were two long wings lined with tall windows dressed in flowing red and gold curtains. Rising from the back of the central hall was a broad, sweeping staircase covered in a blood red carpet; the stairs led to the upper two floors of the mansion, which were unofficially off-limits for the party. Tables overflowing with food and fountains of champagne surrounded the main dance floor, along with a few empty chairs awaiting the lonely wallflowers. A small professional orchestra was beginning to tune and set up in the corner while the last of the exotic floral arrangements were dispersed around the room. Everything seemed to be falling into order...

When submitting a character application, please specify (anywhere it seems fit) your character's relationship with Lord and Lady Dickinson. How did they get invited to the party? Are they crashing the party? Are they there to do a dirty deal with Lord Dickinson for money or a trade of some kind?
Rules
- Advanced roleplaying and literacy - I don’t mind brief posts (a paragraph at the very least) as long as they get the job done.
- Your character may be human, vampire, witch/wizard, or some type of demon...
- No random were-creatures other than werewolves, which aren’t very common anyway.
- When a werewolf transforms, it turns into what appears to be a regular, albeit massive and highly aggressive, wolf. They have no control over the transformation and no memory of the events of a full moon night.
- Demons are mostly modeled after those in Japanese folklore, but I’m generally really flexible as long as its creative and not too unbelievable.
- Vampires are the most common of the supernatural folk. They can't turn into bats or any other random thing and their faces don't go all wonky when they're about to bite someone. It is possible for a vampire to regain their soul. They do have the typical vampire strength/agility/immortality, and they also have the ability to charm/seduce someone. That seduction power doesn't work so well on other supernaturals, however. They do have to be invited in before they can enter a home, but crosses and holy water and garlic aren't an issue. Fire, sunlight, decapitation, and stake to the heart are effective ways to kill them. I don’t really know what a “sparkly” vampire is...but I’m assuming its the type I don’t want here.
- Half demons are possible, but there’s no such thing as a half vampire or half werewolf.
- As far as magic is concerned.......nearly anything goes...within reason. I suppose you could check first if it seems too bizarre.
- The general human population has no knowledge of the supernatural world around them. Only a few are aware of any non-human activity.
- You’re welcome to have more than one character. I plan on beginning with the host of the party and then slowly transitioning to my main character, who will appear a little later on.
- Please post at least somewhat frequently.
- Romance is expected, but take anything beyond pg13 to a separate location please.
- Like I mentioned before, I’m pretty flexible and always open to input and ideas! Feel free to ask questions or offer constructive suggestions. I’m pretty new around here, so if I do something silly (which I apparently already have done), I’d appreciate you perhaps mentioning it and helping me out... xD
- PARTY LIKE ITS 1799!!!!
- I have no main plot planned, as I assumed this would be mainly character-driven. Feel free to leave the party in the plot, or even move on to the next day.

OOC Notes
As the final touches were dealt with around the the center ball room, he leisurely descended the sweeping red staircase, keeping to the far left side. In one hand, he carried a long black cane studded tastefully with rubies; in the other, he carried a goblet of champagne. No other guests would be offered a glass such as that for the evening; it was a rare piece he enjoyed showing off.
The mask he wore was elaborate, clearly expensive. It was made of glistening black and navy blue feathers and delicate pieces of gold leaf. His black suit had medium length tails, and he wore a pair of black gloves to match. His grey-blue eyes sparkled mischievously through the eyes of the mask as he surveyed the arrival of the first few guests. He enjoyed creating wanton situations with his excess wealth, and he did so hope that the late night would lead the party in such a direction.
In the corner of the room, the orchestra began to play quietly; they weren’t yet up to the festive dancing songs that were to come later in the evening, but even a little music cast the room into a new, somehow ethereal light.
