Mutants. Test tube babies, fused with the DNA of an animal. Experiments. Failed or successful? Brave enough to try to escape? Or too scared and willing to stay in the Dome? Up to you. [Closed]

What am I exactly? Eh. Who cares?

Posting has begun!

The only thing these children have known is the cold, hard cement cells that they have been in their entire lives, and the white lab coats that belong to the adults that croon false promises and maybe even the rare genuine caring word.

They are all test tube babies, born and raised in the facility. But they are all special, special and maybe even a little freaky. Because their DNA have all been altered and fused with the DNA of a single specimen of animal.

But there has been word that some experiments are planning on breaking out of here. But who knows if this is real or not? After all, maybe what the scientists are prescribing is actually helping them?

There is only one chance to find out. There is thing in the lab, called the Dome, where the mutants can interact with each other. Now is the time to exchange information, to exchange thoughts and opinions. Now is the time to open up and let the scientists in.

It all began fifty years ago, in the year 2013. A scientist, rather insane and only aged 18, named Riley Flynn, perfected the technique of splicing DNA and infusing it with the DNA of an embryo, thereby creating a mutant. A human being, granted with animal attributes. He started out simple, working with DNA that was similar to human DNA - cows and rats, in particular. Quite a few of those turned out to be very, very successful.

The man, young and a genius, gifted with an IQ that soared far above even Leonardo da Vinci's, began to grow ambitious. He could make an army, you see. Born into wealth, the man was a ticking time bomb of the perfect resources, with the perfect mind, and the perfect personality to carry out what could be the apocalypse that had been avoided in 2012.

But he died before his time. At the ripe young age of 39, Riley, twenty-one years after making his discovery, died under mysterious conditions. His work was carried out by his associates, and his most trusted advisor, his cousin, a young woman named Mallory Hyde. Mallory continued the experiments, and it was under her that the Dome was built.

Why not study the mutants in their 'natural' habitat? What natural habitat? The only thing these things had ever known was their cells and their handlers. But they were intelligent. Some of them anyway. The ones infused with toad DNA rarely spoke. They mostly communicated through croaking, their voice boxes having developed identical to those of the toad.

But then...there were the brilliantly crafted ones. The ones who had been given just enough DNA that they looked human. Until, of course, they yawned and their jaws stretched to one-twenty degrees and revealed forty six sharp, sharp canines.

The year is now 2063.

The experiments have multiplied, grown so much and researched so extensively that the only time they ever get to communicate with each other is in their time in the Dome. Sometimes put in there for days on end, sometimes given only an hour.

What are you going to do with your time?

The Dome

The Dome is exactly as it sounds: a large glass dome with a diameter that would take two days to walk from edge to edge. The glass surrounding it is a whole lot thicker than bullet proof glass and it’s a one-way mirror.

The scientists arranged on the balconies surrounding the dome can look in, while the mutants cannot see the scientists. There are five different doors leading in, each one leading to a different habitat when first entered. There is a desert, a forest, salty and fresh water and the arctic tundra.

There is also a section in the middle where they all intersect and this is rocky, but flat. This middle section has a large cylinder in the middle, which is also an entrance into the Dome. However, this entrance is mostly used by scientists. Experiments usually use the entrance near the habitat that best suits their needs.

The conditions are always perfect, temperature and humidity kept at exactly the level needed to be comfortable. Prey, such as rabbits and birds, as well as a wide variety of vegetation inhabit in the area.

The balconies that wrap around the Dome have telescopes at regular intervals for the scientists to focus on an particular experiment. There are different levels of observation. Ground floor, up to fortieth. The fortieth is less of an observational level and more of a lounge area for the scientists. The entire facility is structure around the dome. Each floor up to the tenth has cells.

To prove you read all of this, scientist character perspectives should include watching the experiments in the dome. Experiments should be of them thinking about life and liberty and all that good stuff...in their cells.

Toggle Rules

one. No god-moding or power-playing. This means no killing another character without permission.
two. Romance and violence is encouraged (they are mutants after all), but no explicit scenes. Keep it PG-13 kiddies.
three. Swearing? Sure. Just not every word.
four. If you have multiple characters, put all their interactions and the sort in one post. And if, say, you have two characters, each one talking to someone different. You must wait until both of the other characters have replied before posting again. This is done to reduce the chances that people get left behind. And it also forces people to be active.
five. Suggestions for plot twists are very, very welcome. However, no major changes without consulting me (akai-pyon) first.
six. Yes, I may suddenly say, "And then the scientists came and took [name], [name] and [name] to be experimented on. They later returned, changed." It might not happen very often, it might happen two days in a row. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. It is, however, up to you, to determine what change has happened to the mutant.
seven. At least three coherent sentences per post (Note: "Blah. Blah. Blah." He said. counts as one sentence. Not four.) This limits back-and-forth conversations and one-liners. Oh, and also, if you are having an interaction between three characters, each one of the participants in the conversation must speak or post before somebody who has already posted can post again. PM me if this rule confuses you.
eight. No, not everybody can be a wolf. Or a cat. Or a fox. In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I'm not accepting any wolves/cats/foxes. Be creative!
nine. To prove you read this, send me a PM with the phrase 'Nondescript noodle' in it.
ten. I have the right to ask for changes in your character. Don’t pout or complain. I hate complainers.
eleven. Notice, most these are not the cutesy 'I-only-have-ears-and-a-tail' kind of people. Some of them act like animals. Some of them can only think like animals.

Nira groaned as the harness was fastened around her. But as soon as he set her down a smile crossed her features. She just barely heard what he said and answered slowly, "I don't think so. I haven't been having any growing pains."
Her smile grew when he mentioned more spaghetti and she walked in a slow circle around him, then went back the other way, untangling the leash from him. She sighed as she stretch her wings back behind her fully. She reached her arms above her head and stretched her back, hearing a few pops here and there. She pulled her wings back in so she wouldn't take up as much space. She turned to look at her wings and ran her hand over one of them, loving the feeling of the soft feathers.

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

No!!! Super-sad-face. I was looking forward to roleplaying alongside you again. I do know what it feels like to invest in too many roleplays, then have normal life on the side. Good luck with whatever roleplays you are involved in.

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

Guys, I feel like a total a-hole, but I've gotta drop out. I did a very bad thing and took on too many rps. I've only posted once on this one... and I'm not feeling my character so much. Anyone is free to have him! Again, I'm REALLY sorry! :((

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

Forgive me, everyone, but I shan't be able to post anything until Friday. I have several tests tomorrow and Friday, along with my finals next week.

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

Hi just wanted to say that I need characters for a story I made. I really need male characters so if anyone wants to join here it is:
roleplay/sacrificial-piece/

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

Life takes precedent over the RP site. Do not worry, we forgive you.

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

Just a warning - I might be able to post as much as I like to. Simply because Finals Week is fast approaching and my two hardest finals are on the same day. *sigh*

Sorry!!!

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

Of course, akai-pyron, we are all excited to begin.

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

So~ We have all the characters in place. If everybody would fill in the "What do you think of your care taker?" section, I'll get the first post up as soon as I finish my homework.

Haha.

Is everybody else as excited as I am? :D

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

:O So mean! :((

Edit-

HAHAHAHAHAHHA!!! FALCON! Sky Flying Falcon! HA I FOUND YOU!

When I created the RP, I had a nifty little journal where I wrote down all the characters and their players. OMFG! I love roleplaying beside you! :D Wheeeeeeeeeeee xD

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

KapugenWolf, she's all yours. XDD

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

Muhahahaa, you have my character correct. I did play Miles, however you haven't gotten my old name :p. I'm not going to let you off that easy.

I hope this turns out good :).

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

Oooo, you play a game with me Templar, you do! >) I'm up for the challenge.

Of course, the sick bastard in me chooses 2, for the very reasons that Templar has stated. I prefer tragedy over comedy, in the language of Shakespeare.

But of course, you are GM and this is your story, therefore, the choice is ultimately yours.

Edit- After a bit of investigation I have boiled you (Templar) down to two of the abandoned characters in the swirling abyss of them that had been created. As far as the writing technique, I cannot say I'm an expert at deciphering differences and so you either played Miles Tyrone, the scientist who chose a different path, or the unfortunate dragon Kolo.

Watch me be entirely wrong on both accounts and be sorely humiliated. Either way, I still cannot remember you RP name, only those of your characters. :/

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

I'll let you guess, see how good your memory is :p. It may have been more obvious if my character had falcon DNA or was a giant, ancient construct from the time the world began.

Hmm, thats the problem with having offical slots and such that get reserved. Someone who reserves doesn't turn up and you can't replace them. It does have advantages true but it also has disadvantages. I'm surprised how you make it work with the restriction you put in about age and such.

With the story lines I personally prefer number 1. I think they both work well, however they'll define how the roleplay turns out. I would say number 2 certainly points to a much darker story line. I mean, death, destruction and so forth. Thats a bit darker then hope.

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

I'll take DawnFire's spot if you do end up opening it! I am really interested in this RP.

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

I'm actually quite excited to get this role play started. Why am I excited? Because of all the characters I've been getting. They're all awesome and I can tell that practically all of you are very good role players.

So, once we get those last two spots filled (I know that one of them should be filled tomorrow - I think I'll have to open up Dawnfire's spot), I'll post the introductory post.

There's really no plot right now. The experiments and the scientists just sort of interact for now. But I'm thinking one of two future plots.

1. Somebody spreads the rumor that they're going to try a mass escape. This rumor might or might not be true, and it worries both scientists and experiments. Security is tightened, time in the Dome is getting limited. Will the escape actually pull through? If so, where will they go? Because, after all, there is nowhere for them to live. The climate outside is suitable only to a few. All of them can feel the draft leaking in through the cracks during the winter. They can feel the scorching heat during the summer. And there are other unknowns as well. They've lived long enough, heard enough from their very caretakers.

"Poor things. They'd never survive out in the real world."

"They look like monsters..."

"We have to make sure they stay safe...."

2. A plague strikes swiftly and silently through the lab, killing off over twenty of the experiments in two nights. The cause of the disease is unknown, but it's said that it has something to do with the way some of the DNA in experiments have been twisted, leaving them vulnerable to the sickness. Experiments are herded into the Dome, where they will spend the next few weeks, carefully observed. Scientists will be spending nights with them, to make sure none of them attack each other. But the disease and the sudden death of so many leave quite a few wondering - What happened? Will the disease strike again?

Am I going to be next?

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

:) Yayness Templar! Might I ask what your former name was? Just so I can remember who it is I'll be roleplaying with again. :D

I almost revived Blue Lips, but I think that story is better left to my own mind. It became more and more specific/vivid in my head; putting in RP form would have killed it for me. Not that the players weren't AMAZING... it's just hard to orchestrate such a large scale RP. At least for myself. :P

Edit- SORRY I keep taking so long with the profile! My connection at work last night was zilch so I must create him now. :D

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

I thought that username was familiar, Lovely VonSchutlz. You went by another username, which I can't remember, when you started a really awesome roleplay I was lucky enough to be a part of (under another name myself). Your arrival here is promising, I'm proud to be alongside a writer of your caliber. :)

Other people would get very similar comments except I don't really know your writing :p

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

All are reserved! Please have them up by tomorrow, the latest.

@KapugenWolf: That spot was reserved by the post right in front of yours! I'm sorry!!

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

I wish to reserve Scientist ID: 907H40M1065, if it is still applicable.

Re: [OOC] My Shattered World

Sorry, ended up in the wrong RP somehow. Just ignore this comment.
