Introduction

This is the year 2234, and the people have evolved a great deal. Planet Earth has been almost completely covered by cities, and there are few remaining pockets of non-sentient life left that haven't been domesticated or put in zoos. However, one small part of the world remains as lush and as green as it was centuries ago. Those stretches of land are the Battle Racing Tracks (BRTs) These BRTs are hundreds of miles wide and can stretch on for miles themselves. The tracks themselves are filled with animals that used to live in the corresponding areas before human habitation encroached upon them.
These tracks are used to race, with the biggest ones being reported to the masses by the Battle Car Network (BCN), whose reporters fly beside the racers in special one-man transports with enough food and water to last a week along with the structure to head underwater along the route as well. The BRTs are enclosed by force field barriers that stop anything that hits them from escaping except for air molecules and sunlight. They are actually so big that the largest ones have their own weather systems. The largest one of all the BRTs is known as the Battle Car World Cup (BCWC) which, as its name suggests, runs all around the world. It starts in the North Pole, going along every single continent, before ending in the South Pole. It never stops, and even goes under water at certain points during the race.
Each portion of the race is geared towards a specific environment (permanent ice, tundra, underwater, rain forest, etc.) and is filled with animals not just from 2 centuries ago, but also from millions of years ago. People in the North American section might find themselves fighting a Spinosaurus, while over in the Pacific section one could be outrunning a Megalodon. The sections are in this order: North America, South America, Atlantic, Africa, Europe, Asia, Oceania, Pacific Ocean, and Antarctica. Each of the sections has one checkpoint and racers are expected to carry enough supplies for the each stretch. There are also traps, obstacles, and natural hazards to look out for; these include other racers, automated mechs that will attack any car they see, ice that gives away, etc. etc. The race is a life or death struggle, and everyone knows it.
At some of the major cities (and in whole new ones underwater) are checkpoints where each driver can stop and rest, filling up on fuel and tinkering with their gear. There is a strict 24 hour time limit, triggered when the racers pass through a certain gate with their trackers, which give off a loud buzzing noise if the racer goes past the 24 hours. If he/she does so, they are disqualified from the race effective immediately. If they attempt to participate in the race any further, special cops with stasis field generators are sent out to stop them. If they hit a racer with a stasis field generator, the racer is immediately immobilized and is then brought back to the nearest checkpoint for their punishment.
Each car in the BCWC has to have an underwater mode for when the track goes underwater. Other than that there are very few rules. Whoever gets to the finish line out of the survivors is the victor, but the prize is not known until the winner takes it and is different every year. For this year rumors abound that the prize could be hundreds of millions of dollars worth in gold and jewels, while others say it's the best battle car ever made. One thing's for sure, the racers aren't the only ones trying to get at the prize. Agencies from various governmental organizations try to break into the Battle Car Federation's (BCF's) heavily secured installation every year, yet always manage to fail because of the mechs guarding the prize. This year the stakes have never been higher.
