Story

Wealth, Power, Fame. One man obtained it all. He was known as the Pirate King Gol D. Roger. His last words sent hordes sailing into the seas.

"My treasure? Take it, I left it all there. In that place!" Were Gol D. Roger's last words before he was executed publicly by the World Government.

Pirates now head to the Grand Line with many different aspirations. Others rule the other four seas. The World Government fights against these pirates, captures them, and tortures. Both the Pirates and the Marines (The army and navy for the World Government) are mixed with honest and corrupt people.

Another force the World Government uses to keep Pirates in check are the Shichibukai. These are not Marines, but Pirates that have been granted sovereignty, as long as they fulfill certain obligations, such as accepting the call to arms when needed. There are seven of these and are extremely strong.

This Role Play will take place on the First Half of the Grand Line. Were will you hail from? What will you goals be? Who will you side with?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setting

The fictional world of One Piece is covered by two vast oceans, which are divided by a massive mountain range called the Red Line. The Grand Line, a sea that runs perpendicular to the Red Line, further divides them into four seas: North Blue, East Blue, West Blue, and South Blue .

Surrounding the Grand Line are two regions called Calm Belts, which experience almost no wind and ocean currents and are breeding ground for the huge sea creatures called Sea Kings. Because of this, the Calm Belts are very effective barriers for those trying to enter the Grand Line. While navy ships, using sea stone to mask their presence, can simply pass through, most have to use the canal system of Reverse Mountain, a mountain at the first intersection of the Grand Line and the Red Line. Sea water from each of the four seas runs up that mountain and merges at the top to flow down a fifth canal and into the first half of the Grand Line. The second half of the Grand Line, beyond the second intersection with the Red Line, is also known as the New World.

Image

This is one side of the World. Imagine the Red Line Extending around the whole world. The Calm belts are both above and below the Grand Line, which are not depicted in this picture.

The currents and weather on the Grand Line's open sea are extremely unpredictable, while as in the vicinity of islands the climate is stable. What makes it even harder to navigate is the fact that normal compasses do not work there. A special compass called a Log Pose must be used. The Log Pose works by locking on to one island's magnetic field and then locking on to another island's magnetic field. The time for it to set depends on the island. This process can be bypassed by obtaining an Eternal Pose, a Log Pose variation that is permanently set to a specific island and never changes.

Each Island on the Grand Line is almost it's own world. Each has it's own temperature, people, topography, and weather patterns. This can somewhat be thought of like Star War's planets. One planet may be all a desert, while another can be an island filled with Dinosaurs. Some may be more advanced then others, having different cultures, but all speak the same language.

There are also Sky Islands. These islands are very difficult to get to and equally as difficult to return from. They float on clouds, and are islands in a Cloud Sea. Some clouds are solid and others are like water. The World Government has no control over these islands.

Devil Fruits

Devil Fruits are a type of fruit which when eaten confer a power on the eater. There are three categories of devil fruit.

Zoan: The users of Zoan class Devil Fruits gains the ability to transform into an animal (and acquire every ability affiliated with the said animal). The user can also transform into a human-beast hybrid form. There are Zoan Devil Fruits not only for common animals, but for prehistorical animals and mythological creatures as well.

Logia: The rarest of the three classes, users of Logia Devil Fruits gains the abilities to transform themselves into an element (making them intangible or indestructible). They also gain every ability related to that element and gains the skill to regenerate every part of their bodies (even their whole bodies) from that element. Logia users can increase and control every part of their transformed bodies into elements, but they can't control or generate their elements from nothing.

Paramecia: The most common of the three classes, users of Paramecia Devil Fruits gains super-human physical abilities. Other users can alter features of their bodies or their environment. Finally, there are some users than can manipulate and generate some kinds of substances.

Devil Fruit users cannot swim, they will sink when in water. When even partially submerged in sea water, they lose all of their strength and coordination, although some abilities remain. 'Moving' water such as rain or waves does not have this effect.

Skeletons

Character options:

Pirate: Be part of the Pirate Crew. Anyone who chooses this will all be in the same pirate crew. The story will begin with these characters meeting on the first island on the Grand Line.

Marine Admirals: There are three of these and are very powerful and have to follow the orders from the World Government.

Shichibukai: These are not Marines, but Pirates that have been granted sovereignty, as long as they fulfill certain obligations, such as accepting the call to arms when needed. There are seven of these and are extremely strong. They often follow their own motivations, and sometimes turn on the World Government.

Races:

Humans: Average humans. Not much else to say about them.

Big Humans: Pretty much just larger humans. Not as common as humans.

Giants: There are very few of these. They are bigger then Big Humans by far. They are strong, intelligent, but slow, and cannot be devil fruit users.

Big Giants: Extremely Rare! Giants, but larger.

Angels: Live in the sky islands. They are much like humans but have small wings on their backs (no, they cannot fly). They also use dials. (Explained in Random Facts.)

Mermen: Resemble fish, usually ugly. They are strong and superior under water. They are uncommon on land. Cannot use devil fruits.

Mermaids: Beautiful beings. Fastest swimmers in the world. They can change their large flipper into legs once they reach an age of thirty years old. Cannot use devil fruits.

Cyborgs: Can be any of the above but modified by Mehcanisms. They can turn their bodies into weapons and hide them effectively.

Anyone being an Angel Might want to look into Dials.
The characters and events from the manga/anime can be referred to but should not effect the story.
For those who know the show - The Shichibukai will count as the replacements for Moria and Crocodile. The events will take place before Ace's capture. Blackbeard it yet to be a Shichibukai.
If you want to be a character from the show put in an app and I'll look it over.

Important Marine Locations

Impel Down - Impel Down is a large submerged tower-like structure whose foundation is at the very bottom of the sea bed. Due to it being built within the Calm Belt, the entire structure is constantly surrounded by gigantic Sea Kings swimming below the water. Along with these beasts, the prison is guarded by a force of Marine battleships.

Within the dark confines of the prison are various cells and torture chambers that used for the prisoners. The cells are all made from seastone to keep those with Devil Fruit powers from escaping. The torture chambers are used for all sorts of brutal unspeakable acts. Among these include continuous whipping, brutal beating to death, boiling cauldrons for burning and drowning, and spiked pits used for impaling.

The prison is carefully monitored all around by a Surveillance Den Den Mushi. The generator room of the entire prison is located on the first floor, before Level 1, and as are the controls to open the Gates of Justice.

Marineford - Marineford is the main headquarters of the Marines. It is where Fleet Admiral Sengoku and the three Admirals reside, along with many Vice Admirals and lower officers when they aren't assigned to another base. The city surrounding marine HQ is inhabited by the families of marine soldiers.

The only safe way to reach here is through the Gates of Justice.

Enies Lobby - Enies Lobby also known as The Judicial Island, is a government-controlled stronghold in the Grand Line. Enies Lobby is located on an island referred to as both an "afternoon island" and a "never-night island" (obviously because it is never night time there). Enies Lobby leads to Impel Down and the Marine Headquarters directly. Because of this, there are many Government Agents stationed here, roughly 10,000 troops, a mix of those from both the World Government and the Marines. It is surrounded by a waterfall.

Gates of Justice - The Gates of Justice are three massive structures that each located in the Marine Headquarters, Impel Down, and Enies Lobby. They resemble large gates built into the air with the symbol of the World Government on them.

The purpose of these gates is to allow easy travel for Marines between the three respective places they are located in. Beyond the gates is a massive spiral water current that is in between the three locations. By riding this current, the Marines are able to travel much faster to these locations than they would normally. Traveling normally through on this current while the gates are closed however would simply force any ship to pass on by the locations due to the current. When the gates are open, the current is let in and any ship can enter their destinations with ease.
