Aidan "the Mad"

Odd even for an Irishman, there isn't anything normal about Aidan. He claims to be able to speak with spirits, fairies, and angels as well as being able to tell the mood of the world. He doesn't fear death and is considered quite mad and dangerous

Description

Basic Appearance: Image

Height: 5"8

Clothing: Aidan tends to dress in clothes made of leather or animal skin, though he once donned a set of monk's robes. He usually wears a necklace with strange wooden beads around his neck.

Personality

Aidan is quite out of bounds with the normal rules of medieval society. He answers to no one, traveling in the great forests of England and sometimes seems rather sad, longing for the "Ancient Days" where man revered something greater than himself, before he became corrupted by greed and gold. Aidan follows the "Old Ways" and sometimes feels he's the last of a dying breed.

By no means, however, is Aidan a grim man. He is rather playful and enjoys confounding those that do not understand with his "mad rantings" about spirits and old gods long-forgotten.

Equipment

Harp: Aidan's most beloved possession, an old harp made of oak with strings that are dull in the day but at times shine brightly in the moonlight, or so Aidan claims. It nonetheless produces beautiful music.

Medicinal Bag: With pouches stuffed with ashes and medicinal herbs and filled with crude, hand-carved medicinal instruments necessary for healing wounds and diseases, it is surprisingly useful and actually helps when one knows how to use what is within.

Staff: An ordinary walking stick that Aidan once took a liking to, it is useful when one is unwise enough to attack a mad woodsman.

History

Aidan will say little about how he came to England. What he does say is that the "Life-force" guided him and he has since wondered the woods of England, keeping to himself mostly, playing his harp, living off the land, treating illness and injuries of those that deserve his help and confounding those that mean him harm. The song of his harp is said to entrance many of a listener and those foolish enough to trouble him have found themselves lost in the woods, sometimes never to return home. Aidan has pursued his own spiritual quest and is content with his life. He cares little for the affairs of humankind, but he has heard of Robin Hood and is mildly curious.

Note: Aidan's mysticism, I think, is up to individual interpretation. He can be quite mad or there could be something compelling about him the speaks of ancient wisdom, passed down from generation to generation. Hope he's accepted.
