Personality:
Abelard is a quiet man, who talks very little but speaks much, though he is -- by no standards -- shy. Born under the second sun and the fourth moon, Abelard certainly shows a great deal of wisdom and understanding, and has even been considered an abnormally kind and accepting man. He lives as he wishes to, with the expectations that others should be granted the same, though this point of view has been battered by the appearance of Xephon and the constant threat of death's stalking. A pacifist by nature, Abelard has nonetheless gained a proficiency in the use of maig for harder defense purposes, yet prefers to do what he can with it in order to ease others' lives and rarely depends on it for himself. The greatest ability, in Abelard's belief, is the ability to cultivate a living thing and raise it; he has had no family, as he feels virtually no sexual interest toward the opposite sex, nor to the same. Though he is dry, Abelard's sense of humor is often mostly self-deprecatory; his humor matches his sobriety, as he has never touched a drop of alcohol.

History:
Abelard was born into a fairly well-off family in Pandora, who chose to live in a modest house yet were irresponsible with their money. His father was a San 'taic technician, and his mother performed odd jobs around the community. His older brother, Pierre, and he, performed well in their schooling. Abelard, however, excelled in runae maig, though he would often perform poorly so as not to offend others. Pierre was struck by Xephon soon after the disappearances began, only a few years after Abelard and he had moved from their parents'; Abelard only heard of his brother's disappearance through his parents, whom he had been staying with during a period of unemployment. Though he did not know exactly what was occurring, Abelard reasoned that the disappearances were connected, and abandoned his work as a schoolteacher to live in a small hamlet several miles outside of Pandora.

Abelard now lives in a small cottage, held together by a combination of maig and carpentry. There is a safe which holds what little money he has, and what he collects from performing favors for his fellows in the hamlet, as well as from the brief, temporary employments he has taken on over the year.

San`taic: The safe also holds the inert husk of his old San 'taic, which, when active, was usually silent save for occasional snarky, witty, but perceptive comments. Abelard would often refer to him as the "darker cousin I never knew I had." It often hovered behind him to the left, speaking with a mechanical rendering that was vaguely feminine in its speech.
