Vampire King's Servant

Name
Sarai Ozeiel

Nickname
She's often called Mouse because she's quiet and hard pressed to speak around other vampires.

Age
532 - turned at sixteen years old.

Gender
Female

Appearance
Sarai is young and relatively short, standing only at 5"5 and barely weighing 115 pounds. She is thin but not boney and her skin is quite pale, matching her bright white blond hair. Often she is the last person to be noticed in the room, her sense of fashion and natural stature nothing shocking. As a former human, Sarai has a penchant for more standard Earthly fashion trends as opposed to her vampire cohorts. She walks quietly and talks lowly most often and easily fades into the background due to her overall appearance being rather plain. Most often Sarai keeps her hair long and bone straight - her natural style. Her makeup is often subdued and she doesn't have the typical vampire flare to be anything eccentric looking. As a result she's often feminine and sophisticated in a human way, with her makeup often a 20s or 50s throwback - her two favorite most recent decades. Everything she wears is functional with a slight girly twist. She is only 16 so she often looks more childish than adult, but it suits her and most often has people ignore her more than they already would which is good in her book.

Occupation
As a human of Cruorem Orbis she was born into slavery and served as a blood servant to many of the King's courts. When she was turned by Corvin, one of the King's secretaries and schedule planners, she became a keeper of humans, before graduating to prepare humans for bedding, before finally ascending to formal paperwork and assistant clerical work, until most recently King Alexander assigned her to the care of his latest human slave Simone.

Skills/Equipment
By way of physical strength, Sarai has little but she is quick on her toes and has a fast reaction time considering her age. Her greatest skill is perhaps her control over her thirst. As a human turned vampire who then worked with humans for three quarters of her second life, she has spend more time around bleeding humans with the strict rule not to harm them. As a result she is not as weak and vulnerable to blood, though she still needs to drink every day. She is subdued and her lack of passions often work to her advantage, as well as her overall attentive manner - she's most often a wallflower taking in the details of a situation, making her a valuable source of information on the court and those within it. When it comes to formal fighting, she's more of the flight type though she can throw knives fairly well - enough to give her time to get away that is.

Personality
Sarai isn't called Mouse for gnatty hair or buck teeth - the nickname stems from her stature around her fellow vampires: quiet, squeaky, and to a degree a nuisance. She is not the quickest learner, and her human intuitions often trump her vampire ones. The result: she works twice as hard to get something right the first time and still she often screws something up a long the way. At heart Sarai is submissive to her court members. She feels lowly and as such she acts that way. In the vampire hierarchy she remains low, though no longer the lowest. Conscientious of her place, Sarai aims to do all that she can to please those above her, and rarely as such does she think or take time for herself. She is mannered and respectful. Her curiosity however can get her into trouble, and her ability to find herself in a room full of people discussing important details within the Vampire Court is astounding. But she is fiercely loyal and she would sooner die than roll over on anything related to the King, despite her not knowing him well or ever having worked with him directly until she was assigned to care for Simone.

Around humans Sarai acts completely different. They are stupid, expendable food sources to her, the lowest of the low. While she herself was one, she views them as gross animals that give into their passions too often and are ignorant of the consequences of their actions. The superiority that she feels around humans leads her to feel little empathy for them. She is not afraid to talk down to them, be harsh, or force them to comply. This side of her disappears completely around other vampires, however. Though the entitlement she feels can sometimes spill over - leading to less than good outcomes.

History
Sarai was born a slave. She was the product of two humans of Cruorem Orbis who somehow procreated. When she was born she was immediately whisked away, raised as a captive of the court. Her blood was tantalizing, a rare type that she cannot remember. It made her worthy of being kept by the court, first as a blood slave for the vampire children, and then ultimately to officials within the court itself as she grew older. Her life was difficult. Each year seemed to see all of the people she knew killed. She was beaten often, or sucked dry within an inch of her life. It was a violent and cruel life that got marginally better when she was brought into a dinner party for administrator's within the court and sat in front of Corvin, a secretary for Alexander concerned with updating the King's schedule when he was seeing people. Corvin became addicted to her blood. As a result he began to favor her. Initially it seemed too good to be true, as the care she received was so much better than before. Then on the night of her sixteenth birthday Corvin moved to bed her, and then he turned her without even thinking about what she wanted. Sarai survived the transition, but barely. When she awoke, it was a torrid affair. To be a turned vampire had her better off than being a human but still less than the natural born kind. Corvin trained her before sending her off to work within the court as a keeper of the blood slaves. She went to tending her friends before they died, taking in the children of slaves and giving them over to vampire children. It proved no better to be on the other end of the deal. But it hardened her and after a century of having every one of her humans under her care die, she stopped feeling. In time Sarai moved to tending to humans for bedding, a humiliating position but one she did well. It was only within the past century of her life that she was taken out of human care and into the bureaucratic fold: Corvin hired her as his own assistant. She was so excited until she began to work for him. The love he had felt for her, the addiction he had had to her as a human, was gone however. The reality was that Corvin was an incredibly violent man and Sarai became his favorite play thing. Fifty years ago Corvin died. Sarai maintained her job, away on an errand when it happened. Corvin had enemies, that she knew. She never cared to learn the details. She was happy not to deal with him finding it fun to bleed her dry, even as a vampire. She moved onto more clerical work, filing, petitions, letters and bookkeeping. She was a go getter of coffee, clothes and supplies. The trip to Earth had her brought along, recommended for her ability to blend with humans, buy supplies, meet with the people of earth. Sarai never expected to be sent by her cohorts to tell the king that Nebellia was out. She drew the short straw as they say, and suddenly landed herself caring for a human. And for the first time she was tasked with keeping one alive - something that's proven nearly impossible thus far.

Other
Likely to die soon. Possibly. Who knows?

Simone wrapped her hands around the doorknob, attempting to make as much noise as she could to get attention first before she fully intended to open said door. Only she didnā€™t get the chance because once again Alexander was behind her, pulling her away with his arms of steel. It didnā€™t matter how hard she fought to stay where she was, he pulled her away and her fingers were forced off the door and into the air. He leaned back so that her feet were brought off the ground and immediately she began to struggle, squirming and writhing in his arms by kicking her legs out, throwing her hands into his arms, digging her nails into his skin. Or at least she tried to. Frustration had her grunting and crying out at him as he whirled her around effortlessly and tossed her on the large bed. She landed with a soft bounce on her back, her hands reaching out to brace herself. Immediately she shift to gathering her knees under her, not liking that he was standing there over her while she was on a mattress in a more vulnerable position. Simone stared up at him with heated eyes, still shaking. She couldnā€™t tell if it was the blood loss from his little stunt or fear. Likely it was some combination of the two. Despite all of that, she momentarily closed her eyes and saw herself wanting him there. Wanting him. Gagging softly to herself, she curled her toes in her boots and gathered fistfuls of bedding to draw herself away from such an insane fantasty.

ā€œNext time you try that, it may be my guards who catch you and believe me; thatā€™s something you want to avoid,ā€ Alexander warned her. She wanted him sort himself out, crossing the room back towards the door. Heā€™s leaving! she thought to herself. Why did she suddenly want him to stay? The prospect of being left alone in a strange room in a mansion serving as her own personal prison, unsure of when he would return, unsure of when he would come back to drink from her again. Her left hand idly slid to her neck and she paled, finding herself doe eyed and swallowing air as fast as she could. Donā€™t panic, she told herself. Only that served to ramp up her near hyperventilation.

ā€œI recommend you stay here. The servant will be told to procure you any meal you would like. You need to replenish the blood you lost,ā€ he stated. Oh God Food. Simone had half expected him to forget that she needed to eat. As if on cue her stomach rolled, twisting and growling. The redhead clenched her teeth and sprang off the bed after him, only he was already out the door and locking it by the time she got there. Banging a fist into the thick wood, she protested his departure.

ā€œYou bastard! You fucking sickā€¦.sicko!ā€ Simone yelled after him, her energy draining so fast without him near her. She was also running out of insults. She heard the hum of voices, his groveling authoritative tone still catching her, making her anticipatory of something she couldnā€™t describe. Then she heard him leave and everything fell silent. Simone could hear herself breath, her heart still rushing in her ears. Turning from the door she took in the room a second time, allowing her back to slump into the wall behind her. Dejected, she took in the furniture again. As she took in the impressive and expensive looking bed frame with itā€™s ornate hand work and carved designs, all Simone could think was that it suited a vampire. This did tell her one thing: he wasnā€™t so psychotic that he had tried to copy her apartment for her. He hadnā€™t been following her then. He was waiting. Simone squeezed her eyes shut, tensing her shoulders before she hissed in her pain. Glancing over at her right shoulder, she peeled away the sleeve of her coat slowly, taking in the dried blood that ran down her arm in a gory display ā€“ appearing worse than it was. He had cleaned up his own puncture wounds but she was still hurt from her own doing. Sliding her coat off entirely, she dropped it on the floor before walking to the bathroom. When she stepped inside the lights turned on automatically. Unlike the ornate furniture, the washroom was surprisingly modern, though dark in color palate with red walls and white trim. She didnā€™t care to take in any more details than her own injury.

As such Simone turned her right side to face the mirror, cringing as she saw shards of glass glittering against her skin. Hesitantly, she reached for them with her left hand, not sure of any better way to clean it up than to take out the bigger pieces. Pinching one between her thumb and index finger she immediately cut herself. Tossing it into the sink with a hiss, she felt her shoulder twinge with her tension, only leading to her hands trembling more than they were. It was at that point that she opened a medicine cabinet on the wall, sorting through various bathroom products left for her. Home waxing. Body lotion. Soap. Bath scrunchie. Loofa. Nail polishā€¦. she listed off what she saw until a pair of tweezers came into view. Snatching them off the shelf, she made quick work of the rest of the shards. Grabbing a washcloth, she dampened it before grabbing a toothbrush and putting it between her teeth, unsure of how much it would hurt. Fucking glass.

Slapping the hot cloth onto her shoulder had her yelp. Tossing her head back, she clenched her jaw and free hand tightly, swallowing the bile rising in her stomach from the pain and the fact that she had somehow done this to herself in own defense. Reckless Simone. Stupid. Why on earth did you think you could hurt him? Washing the dried blood off her arm was a slow process. While her coat had taken the brunt of the glass and its slashing effect she still had a trio of large gnashes twisting out from a center point on the top of her joint. The cuts werenā€™t so deep that she needed stitches, but she knew that were she to go to clinic they would likely use surgical glue or something to help it stay closed. Fortunately she was healthy enough for it to clot on its own. Thinking about that only led her full circle to him biting her again. She felt her breath seize in her chest at the thought of that happening again. She needed out of here. Now.

Keeping the cloth wrapped around her shoulder, she slid her t-shirt over it as best she could. As she walked back into the bedroom she looked at the furniture a third time, running her fingers over the granite top of the nightstand and dresser. Kneeling, she pulled out one of the drawers, surprised when she found herself faced with hoards of womenā€™s clothing, all brand name, all close to her size. Sapphire would have a fit to get her hands on some of this... she thought idly as she dumped the contents on the floor without caring. Flipping it over, her thoughts were confirmed. The drawer had a wooden base. And wood can be used to fashion a stake. He is a vampire after all...

Grabbing the large drawer handle with both hands, she stood with her back to the large corner post of the bed frame. With a quick inhale, she spun on her heel, throwing the drawer out to catch momentum before allowing it to crash into the bed post. Like thunder the wooden splintered, jagged pieces flying everywhere. Dropping what remained of it in her hands, Simone searched for anything remotely triangular before turning her attention to the bed frame, which had cracked itself. Itā€™s perfect. She became frantic then, hearing shifting from beyond the door. Grabbing another drawer and dumping its contents as well, she spun again, throwing the corner of it into the bed post and allowing it to smash as well. A second time had the drawer become completely dilapidated, the bed post groaning. Simone had the third drawer in hand when she saw the bedroom door open a crack, a strangers eyes looking in with alarm before withdrawing, locking it again behind her. I hope he isnā€™t attached to this bed, she thought then, allowing her anger to surpass the fact that her shoulder was bleeding again with her efforts. Throwing the third drawer into the bedpost had a large chunk of it split and fly off. Climbing onto it, she rammed her fingers into where the rest of it was split, pulling at it with all of her weight until it split further, giving her a large stake like spike of wood to hold.

This human was clearly unbalanced. No one had ever broken the furniture on their own before. Only his highness in his passions which is to be expectedā€¦ The servant was a meak girl, pale with dark brown curly hair reaching her lower back. She was dressed like many of the others, though her outfit had a more modern taste. Still, she walked hurried with her chin down to find the king, trusting that the guards he had posted outside of her room werenā€™t going to storm in there. She had smelt her bleeding when she had pounded on the door like a psychotic one. Perhaps she didnā€™t realize that she had almost a hundred vampires within her midst, all powerful, all hand picked for this life of servitude.

Following the kings scent was not difficult and his voice traveled. The servant found him in one of the quieter rooms. His daughter was with him. The princessā€™ presence had the servant tuck her chin in further. ā€œYour highness,ā€ she chimed in weakly. ā€œApologies. She appears to be destroying the roomā€¦ā€ she added lowly. ā€œSheā€™s hurt herself in her efforts to fashion something like a stake it seems.ā€ She wasn't sure what to do. As a servant she had never been the one to tend to the humans that were brought home. It was a job for someone with more...capacity for dealing with them. Like Brigitte. Wherever the girl was.

Sapphire had a faint feeling that this guy was going to end up driving her absolutely insane. Sheā€™d never before thought that of someone, because honestly she had this tendency to leave people who irritated her this way, yet she didnā€™t particularly wish to leave Sabine. At the same time, however, sheā€™d tried, hadnā€™t she? Half-hearted as it had been, she had tried, so really, all of this was his fault. Yes of course. He was the one who kept following her when she attempted to walk away from him. Now, she couldnā€™t possibly be blamed for his oddities. Exactly. She didnā€™t really want to be there, and she didnā€™t enjoy his company in the leastā€¦ it was all because he refused to stop following her around. All him.

As he condescendingly tried to throw her off of her ideas and thoughts of him, Sapphire raised an eyebrow. This only served to prove her point further, did it not? Obviously this was a man who did not like being figured out; this much was rather apparent, which meant that were she right, he would refuse and try to make her seem silly and dumb for even suggesting it, whereas if she was wrong, he would be much more lighthearted about it. Perhaps even play along and let her think whatever she wanted. But no, Sabine had seemed bothered by her words. So despite his way of talking to her, Sapphire simply stood there, brightly blue eyes looking up at him skeptically. After all, she wanted him to know that she did not buy his bullshit.

As he finally finished his little attempted dissuasion speech, Sapphire tapped her right index finger gently against her bottom lip, looking up at him, her irritation briefly forgotten with her realization. This all proved her thought. Without knowing it, Sabine was revealing himself to her. Interesting. A slight glint of amusement sparkled in her gaze, yet her expression was theatrically thoughtful ā€“ a purposeful act, mean to be seen through. ā€œMy my,ā€ she began, her voice lilting just a little. ā€œArenā€™t you on the defensive?ā€ It was an observation and nothing else; a rhetorical question in every way. In spite of the odd game right now, Sapphire wasnā€™t about to stand around here all night. Nor did she have much patience left and it seemed this man was rather adamant regarding his little quest to irk her.

And so, Sapphire told him to scoot off, suspecting heā€™d merely follow if she began walking first; after all, he had shown nothing else so far. Ah, and yep, the irritation was back. The second he opened his mouth, sarcasm spilling forth in hordes, Sapphire rolled her eyes at him, not giving him the pleasure of seeing her dance to his flute, so to speak, which meant she stood still, not even following him with her gaze as he circled her. Arrogant prick. Her lips pursed slightly as he spoke, but she said nothing. Instead she waited for him to move back to actually facing her, which surprisingly happened rather quickly. He even took a step back towards her, bowing down his head a bit to look her in the eyes. Her sapphire depths were alight with the fire of her soul as she stared right back at him.

ā€œWell,ā€ she then finally said once heā€™d told her to ā€˜toddle offā€™, ā€œSo far Iā€™ve found that you refuse to leave me be when I do ā€˜toddle offā€™, so I figured perhaps I would be able to get rid of you if you left me.ā€ She said the words harder than she meant them. That was a rather defining trait of the blonde woman. If she had to be honest with herself ā€“ and she most times preferred to be ā€“ she did actually like being around him. She liked the sexy purr of his voice, and his touch had been electric. Sheā€™d never experienced anything like it and part of her wanted to explore where that could goā€¦ yet another part of her wrote it off as impossible because he was, wellā€¦ him. He was impossibly arrogant and with a deluded sense of self-importance.

She was fairly certain that would never work out. Besides, theyā€™d hardly had a civil conversation. And she didnā€™t like him. She was merely oddly attracted to him. ā€œI wanted to be gentlemanly and escort you wherever it is youā€™re headed, but then again that might not be the wisest plan, considering the last time I did something polite for you I lost my handkerchief and a jacket. I suppose we donā€™t always get what we want.ā€ He then said, making it sound as though he was the victim here. She snorted, dryly amused. ā€œOh, yeah, sure, youā€™re such a victim here. Poor little Sabine. I didnā€™t want you to follow me anywhere, remember? Besides, if youā€™d only showed up sometime in between then and now ā€“ you know, those two years ā€“ youā€™d have been able to get both your jacket and handkerchief back.ā€ She said coolly, narrowing her eyes as she continued to stare back at him.

ā€œBut you didnā€™t, and really, why should I hold on to your things? You showed your priorities in disappearing for two years. I showed you mine by throwing your shit out. Deal with it.ā€

Alexanderā€™s feet moved only slightly and more or less by instinct when she began fidgeting, trying to stomp her heels into his shoe-clad toes. It wasnā€™t that it would hurt him, but having been at war for the entirety of his life, Alexanderā€™s body had learned to react instinctively whenever a move was made against him. Of course, with Simone being human, Alexander didnā€™t need this right now. After all, she was much smaller, much weaker, much less trained, and hell, Alexander had battled both Lykae and Demon, coming out the winner. Well, that was obvious since he was still alive. It meant that she was even less than no challenge. He almost felt embarrassed on her behalf. Silly human.

She could hear her heartbeat speeding up as he held her wrist, watching the bared side of her neck pulsating happily. Odd; he was entirely full, yet her throat looked so very inviting. Perhaps he was truly addicted. Hmm. Blood-addicts were dangerous vampires to have around humans. He had not brought a single, and honestly he killed them instantly. They were a danger to have on earth and he had enough trouble controlling Nebellia. Hell, they were even a danger to have around back home. They would kill anotherā€™s slave because they lacked control. Any person without control was dangerous, but it was much more so with a vampire. After all, a vampireā€™s life force had to come from living creatures. Humans, to be exact.

Alexander was completely calm while he was with Simone, however. He didnā€™t feel the blood lust. The only thing really drawing him towards her blood was the memory of the divine taste, and he could deny himself that pleasure easily enough. Even as she spoke, he only lazily let green eyes graze the guard watching them. Then he suddenly chuckled, shaking his head. ā€œPrison?ā€ He asked her, almost an innocent touch to his tone of voice. ā€œOh no. Prison is not a place for lovely little things like you.ā€ He meant that. His prisons were not places anyone wanted to spend any time. Alexander liked to make punishments the worst they could be.

The small prison situated in this earthly mansion was situated in the basement. It was all rocks and metal, dark and damp. It was a cold, hard place; just the way he wanted it. A perfect place for criminals and traitors to rot. That was when a smirk spread on the face of his guard and Alexander felt Simone tense even more. As a result, Alexander raised a single eyebrow at the guard expectantly. His grin fell and he hurriedly moved out of sight as the king turned his new human around, placing a firm yet gentle arm around her waist, releasing her wrist. He was smiling wryly himself, watching her.

Her words, however, caused the smile to disappear and his eyes to harden as he looked down into her eyes. ā€œYou should not make threats like that,ā€ he then said coolly, ā€œI have told you; all I want from you is your blood. Nothing else. I see no reason for you to be so melodramatic.ā€ Then his smirk was back and he leaned in, his breath tingling upon her skin as he whispered huskily into her ear, ā€œIt is not like you do not like it.ā€ Then he moved back a little, his free hand moving up to caress the side of her neck where he had bitten her, then dancing down her collarbone, leaving a trail of fire behind. His eyes had turned darker, hooded intensely.

Then he straightened suddenly, breaking the connection as he tilted his head. Nebellia was back. So were Brigitte and Captain Bowman. Well that meant he would have to leave this little flower of hisā€¦ while she was bleeding. Oh, wait, was that the scent of blood from the outside. He sighed slightly. As brilliant as she was, Nebellia was a burden unlike any other. Sheā€™d disobeyed so many of his orders in only one night. Of course, knowing her, that had hardly crossed her mind. Then he looked back at Simone thoughtfully. ā€œUnless you would like to be killed by vampires in this place, you might want to limit the bleeding. And clean yourself up.ā€ He then lifted her up bridal-style, one hand on her back

The king did not take a second to wonder who was where and who did what. Instead he merely said ā€œfollowā€ as he passed the guards along with Sarai. His speed was incredible as he made it through the house, not caring one bit that Simone would most likely end up rather confused. As he entered his own chambers, he placed her on the sofa in the living room connected to his bedroom. His rooms were a bit more modern. Alexander had taken to some of the more clean-cut styles and surfaces of this decade, yet many rooms of the house had not been renovated for many years. He hadnā€™t cared to. After all, they were either used by servants/slaves or not utilized at all.

He stood only for a short while before the first guard showed up, followed by the other and then the younger Sarai. ā€œShe does not leave your sight,ā€ he told them all once they stood straight in front of him. He glanced briefly at the bloody human before putting a cold set of eyes on the three vampires. ā€œI want her protected from anything and anyone ā€“ herself included. She is off limits. You will stay within my chambers to properly watch her.ā€ He then looked upon Sarai, addressing her. ā€œLittle one, you are the only one allowed to invade her privacy. You will accompany her everywhere and you will make sure she is bathed and presentable. You will tend to these self-inflicted wounds of hers, and you will be held responsible should she not be properly nourished or hydrated.ā€

Then he paused briefly, his piercing green eyes taking in all of them once more before finally adding, ā€œshe is not allowed to leave my chambers. Understand?ā€ Through all of this, the king had completely ignored Simone's presence, except to glance at her, making sure she stayed put. His chambers were the best place for her to be right now, considering her bleeding. It would mark her as his property personally and tell everyone that she was off limits.

ā€œOh no. Prison is not a place for lovely little things like you,ā€ he had commented. The words lingered in her head. He obviously didnā€™t understand what it meant to be kidnapped. This entire house had become her own personal jail. A well dressed renaissance-esque purgatory filled with vampires. Simone was starting to think that she was dreaming. It was clear that he was what he claimed to be. These people didnā€™t appear fooled or part of some cult. His face had morphed in front of her like a rapid animal. He had drank from her in a way impossible for a human to do. Still, vivid dreams were not beyond her. Maybe killing herself would make her wake up. Hence her comment. She was surprised as he turned her to face him. Simone kept her hands at her sides, awkward hovering away from his now that her wrists were freed. She didnā€™t want to touch him. He didnā€™t hold the same hesitation as his fingers gripped her hips and lower back tightly.

ā€œYou should not make threats like that,ā€ Alexander rebuked her. Simone scoffed, her defiance unfaltering as she stared at him. ā€œI have told you; all I want from you is your blood. Nothing else. I see no reason for you to be so melodramatic,ā€ he added. Simone frowned at him, attempting to lean away from him as he moved beside her ear, his lips brushing against her cheek as he moved, his cold breath running down her throat. Simone shivered, cursing as her body seized with anticipation with his proximity. Her hands began to shake again as she grew excited. God damnit. Stop it! she told herself in thought.

ā€œIt is not like you do not like it,ā€ he reminded her in a subtle whisper. Simone closed her eyes, feeling her upper lip twitch. She didnā€™t look at him as he moved to touch her neck, trailing his fingers along her exposed collarbone. Now that she had her coat off a lot more skin was showing. He was amused by the fact that her skin flushed where he touched her, prickling with pins and needles, anticipating more. Itā€™s so wrong. Itā€™s so wrong to feel like this.

ā€œPlease stop,ā€ she forced herself to say. He straightened, and withdrew his hand. Simone looked up at him out of the corner of her eye, tucking her chin into her neck, staring at the floor and clenching her teeth.

ā€œUnless you would like to be killed by vampires in this place, you might want to limit the bleeding. And clean yourself up,ā€ he told her. It sounded like an order and she looked over at her shoulder then, seeing that it had bled through the cloth and her shirt with her efforts at fashioning a stake. ā€œMaybe if Iā€™m a mess you wonā€™t touch me,ā€ she grumbled, not against becoming living filth if it meant he wouldnā€™t come near her.

Alexander responded by kneeling once again to lift her against her will, one arm behind her knees and the other behind her back. She straight in his grasp, not leaning into his chest like before. Instead she stared straight up at the ceiling, glaring at him. The position wasnā€™t feasibly however. The moment Alexander stepped beyond the threshold of the room he was moving so fast that Simone couldnā€™t even breath. The house and all the people in it blurred. She could have sworn the skin pulled back on her face from the force of the air moving against her. When she gasped for breath they were standing still in front of a set of dark double doors. When they stepped inside she was greeted with yet another dark bedroom, only this time the furniture was far more modern. It was sleek and sophisticated and right out of an IKEA flier. Everything looked perfect. When he set her down she bunched her knees into her chest, taking a moment to take in the change of surroundings. The house was huge. His room was smaller than the one she had been in but it still had itā€™s own living area before his grand living space ā€“ containing the largest king sized bed she had ever seen. The walls were dark, the windows drawn. The light was still warm, casting an almost romantic glow up the sides of the room. A BDSM writer would have a hoot in this setting, she thought dimly, before looking up as the air shifted and suddenly five additional faces were staring at her, including the female who had looked in on her not moments before in surprise.

ā€œShe does not leave your sight,ā€ Alexander told them all. ā€œIā€™m right here,ā€ Simone reminded him, a terse reply that earned her a cold glance. ā€œI want her protected from anything and anyone ā€“ herself included. She is off limits. You will stay within my chambers to properly watch her.ā€

Iā€™m a danger to myself now? That comment had her raise an eyebrow. Then came the realization thatā€™s he would have five sets of her eyes on her, four of which belonged to tall and Ken doll looking guards, all dressed in the same red and black military style coat, all turning to look at her given their new instructions. They were threatening, that much was certain.

Simone watched Alex turn to the only female in the room, dressed in an odd black dress with long ice blond hair that was settled on her shoulders, pin straight. She looked intimidating on her own and younger than the rest. Her physical age couldnā€™t have been more than seventeen Simone guessed. She looked intimidated as Simoneā€™s captor turned to her.

ā€œLittle one, you are the only one allowed to invade her privacy. You will accompany her everywhere and you will make sure she is bathed and presentable. You will tend to these self-inflicted wounds of hers, and you will be held responsible should she not be properly nourished or hydrated,ā€ he ordered. ā€œYes your majesty,ā€ Sarai obliged, nodding her head and blinking twice, biting her lip at her new assignment. ā€œWait a second! She is not---" Simone protested. The red head stared at the servant who was now tasked with her, eyes blazing at the prospect of thisā€¦woman watching her do something so mundane as go to the bathroom. It was disgusting.

ā€œShe is not allowed to leave my chambers. Understand?ā€ Alexander concluded, his voice suddenly booming and applying to them all. ā€œNo prison my ass!ā€ she replied, moving to stand off of his couch which caused all of the guards and even the young female to shift towards her. Simone moved then, gripping the cloth tied around her wounded shoulder and tearing it off, exposing the deep cuts and fresh blood. She threw the bloodied fabric at Alexander. ā€œI will not be humiliated like this!ā€ Simone shouted.

Sarai made no move, looking at the idiotic girl she now lived to clean and keep proper. She had the strange feeling that this human would be the death of her, especially as she suddenly threw a shred of bloody fabric at the king. She gasped, bringing a hand to her mouth to keep herself from rebuking her just yet. No, that would come soon enough. Still she wondered why Brigette wouldn't be tasked with something so personal to the king. Fortunately Sarai had a strange control over her thirst. She closed her eyes and took in the scent of fresh blood, sighing not out of content but irritation. Sheā€™s only causing more problems for herself canā€™t she see that?

ā€œWait a second! She is not---" Simone attempted to interrupt, causing Alexander to send her a chilling look, his eyes hard and commanding. Instantly she cut off her sentence and he moved his piercing green eyes back to his guards and the smaller servant. ā€œShe is not allowed to leave my chambers. Understand?ā€ He told them firmly, not caring one bit that Simone was looking quite outraged behind him. His patience with her was starting to wear itself down. She had actually interrupted him! No one did that, and he didnā€™t like the fact that she thought herself worthy of doing so. Not even his daughter dared interrupt him.

He noted them all nodding, the guards bowing deeply to indicate that they did indeed take this burden upon them. Sarai, the little servant, curtsied as well. Alexander nodded once, taking a step towards the door before Simoneā€™s voice rang out behind him. The king stopped immediately, turning towards her instantly. If she did not stop calling this place a prison, he would show her exactly what prison was! Maybe then she would recognize the kindness he was showing her! If he had to be perfectly honest with himself though, he probably wouldnā€™t keep her there long enough for her to learn anything. He didnā€™t like spending time there himself, and he couldnā€™t keep an eye on her the same way.

Plus, all of his guards had access to the cells down there. Then again, maybe she needed to experience that; maybe she needed to feel the bite of another, the ferocity with which most other vampires fed. Yes, that would indeed do wonders for her attitude, would it not? Yet the thought of another feeding on this woman, was appalling to him for some reason. Alexander had truly enough never liked sharing, but he hardly cared when it came to humans. Normally. But with Simone the mere imaginary image of it was enough to make his considerable amount of muscle mass clench.

He watched quietly as she moved to throw the bloodied piece of fabric sheā€™d had around her deepest wound at him. He narrowed his eyes then, green depths uncharacteristically angry. This level of impertinence would not do. Especially not in front of staff. Now he was genuinely angry with her, needing to show her the power he had. Needing to make her realize how incredibly wrong she was to think she had any rights here.

The king moved to her in an instance, stopping only a hairā€™s width away from her, moving his head to stare down at her. His right hand was rapidly brought to her chin, holding it to force her face to his, her eyes to his. ā€œSimone,ā€ he began, his voice deceptively calm considering the cold anger in his eyes, ā€œIt seems you are under the impression that you have rights here.ā€ It took not even a fraction of a second for him to move the both of them to a wall, his imposing body capturing her between itself and the wall, his right hand still keeping her eyes locked on his. ā€œYou do not,ā€ he finally sneered, moving his face down to hers until their noses were near touching.

ā€œUnderstand that you are a human in a house filled with vampires. Understand that I am their king. Now, try to grasp the fact that you are subject to whatever I feel the need to do to you. If I wish for you to be skinned alive, you will be. If I wish for you to be locked in an actual prison, you will be.ā€ His eyes had turned from angry to hard and cold, unbending and demanding. ā€œWith that in mind, consider now the gravity of your situation and the consideration I am in fact showing you.ā€ With that, the vampire king let go of the difficult human, taking a step back to watch her briefly before glancing back at Sarai, his voice harsh and commanding as he said ā€œClean her up now.ā€

In the next instant, not stopping to even consider Saraiā€™s reaction, the king had both the guards pinned against a wall by the throats as he looked down upon them. ā€œIf you even take a sip of her blood, I will make sure you regret it for a very, very long time.ā€ He let go of them just as he heard Brigitte by the door. He merely looked at her as she greeted him respectfully. He said nothing as he moved towards her, stopping once he was directly in front of her. ā€œYouā€™re late and I am not in a good mood.ā€ It was all he said to her before stepping out of the room, knowing she would follow him and close the door behind them. It was a warning for her in all honesty, telling her that his patience was not at its usual level and that she should walk very carefully right now.

The pair hadnā€™t moved more than a few meters from the door when Nebelliaā€™s unmistakable scent washed over him and soon she stood in front of him. The king quietly paused, his body perfectly still, arms crossed over his chest as he watched her, listening to her words, his gaze scrutinizing her. Not a word passed his lips, nor did a single expression change the cold look on his face. Frankly he was fed up with people today. Some quiet solitary would be nice. He let her hang there for a bit, not moving even the fraction of an inch as he observed her until a minute had passed. Curious about the human she could scent on him, was she?

ā€œNebellia,ā€ he then started, his voice patient, but on the verge of letting some other unknown emotion pass, ā€œDo not take me for a fool.ā€ By that of course he referred to her excusing herself by pretending sheā€™d done it merely for his sake. He still had several human slaves around. Besides, they were in the human world. Food was everywhere, and he was quite capable of procuring his own nourishment. They both knew his adviser had had her own interests in mind. ā€œYou had your orders.ā€He furrowed his brows ever so slightly, bowing his head a bit to look down at her fully, ā€œYou chose to ignore them. Not only that, but I assume you are to blame for the delay of Miss Lebelle as well.ā€

He paused briefly, knowing no one would dare speak in the brief interim. Then he continued, raising a single eyebrow in that expectant way of his. ā€œHow much chaos did you bring about, Nebellia? How public were your displays? And ah, please do tell meā€¦ how many humans did you have to enthral?ā€ Alexander didnā€™t care about the humans themselves, but he did care that they did not draw too much attention in this place. Nebellia had a tendency to forget about such things.

"All you have to do is ask, Miss Parker. I have not heard the words 'Do not follow me' cross your lips in this conversation. And you know they would work, I respected your wishes well enough the last two times we met, did I not?" Sabine said, raising an eyebrow at her in that arrogantly controlled way of his, patronizing her quietly. She narrowed her eyes at him, clenching her teeth. Well, he was simply full of shit. He hadnā€™t stopped following her last time theyā€™d met. In fact, heā€™d secretly followed her, and as much as the gesture was rather sweet, it was also a little creepy, and now he was completely ignoring the fact.

ā€œExcept you didnā€™t respect my wishes last time, did you? No. You followed me anyway.ā€ She sneered the words, her limit about to be breached. There was only a certain amount of arrogant dickhead she could take within the span of a day, and Sabine was certainly a master at playing the ā€œirritate Sapphireā€-game, not that it was that difficult a game really. A lot of people irritated her. When she was sober. Maybe that was what she needed; alcohol. Yes. She needed alcohol. And she needed less infuriating men. She needed men she could understand. She neededā€¦ anything to make sense, really, because it seemed things around Sabine were so confusing. As much as she liked being around him, she also hated it.

When he replied "I told you I had other business to attend to" to her noting his absence once more, she rolled her eyes, merely glaring at him as he continued talking. "Traveling here from my more permanent residence isn't as easy as clicking my fingers, Sapphire. Two years isn't even that long, honestly. Usually vacations find themselves short and far between. Anyway, you didn't even have to think about it, Liebchen, you could have just put them in a box and forgotten about the whole thing until my return.ā€ The words caused the blonde woman to fold her arms across her middle, raising an eyebrow to exude indifference.

ā€œCould I now?ā€ She icily asked, to which he responded "Unless you cared that much. Why are you so hurt that I didn't return to you sooner? Did you think I'd forgotten about you? And that made you so angry that you had to take some foolish revenge and 'get me back'?" She snorted, drily amused. After all, she hadnā€™t actually thrown out his stuff, which made his analysis rather flawed. ā€œOr maybe,ā€ she said, her voice still sarcastically amused, ā€œI actually clean out my stuff once in a while, and after you had been gone for a while, I saw no reason to have your stuff lying around my apartment, when that space could be used for something actually worth keeping around.ā€

With that she began turning, but he spoke up again and she paused to glance at him. ā€œOh,ā€ she said, overly dramatically surprised, ā€œwell, my deepest apologies for not being a mindreader then. Of course I should have magically known that you did not live in San Diego.ā€ Then she turned back around facing away from him and towards the club she was headed for. ā€œYou know what, Sabine? Until you admit to yourself what you want from me, how about you stay away from me entirely? Leave me alone.ā€ With those words, she began walking again. Away from him. But it seemed as soon as the words left her mouth, she regretted them. Why did she do that? Ugh, he was so irritating!

Simone inhaled sharply, her body once again seizing as Alexander stared down at her. Despite her inclination to, the redhead didnā€™t shrink back. Instead she stepped forward, feeling her chest brush up against his as she tossed her shoulders back. Defiance. It was the word that defined her life. Even as a child her parents had thrown their hand in the air, constantly frustrated with how headstrong she had a tendency to be. Perhaps that was why she chose to work with animals over people ā€“ they frustrated her and her them and the checks and balances always worked out. With individuals, however, she never quite knew when she had pushed a person to their limit ā€“ let alone a stranger like her abductor. Or a vampire. But she wanted to know. What irritated him. What would piss him off. Her display clearly did.

Simone stared up at him, ignoring his hand on her chin, titling her head back, forcing her to look up at him like she were kneeling. ā€œSimone,ā€ he chided her. She tsked in return, flaring her nostrils like a pissed off horse. ā€œIt seems you are under the impression that you have rights here,ā€ he rebuked her. ā€œI do,ā€ Simone scoffed. That earned her a cold stare. She gasped as her feet left the ground, his free hand shoving her back with his gliding steps to the wall. Her shoulders met the drywall with a thud and she inhaled sharply, looking at him through lowered lids, seething. An attempt to shift her head out of his grasp proved fruitless, only making her lips twitch in anger. ā€œYou do not,ā€ Alexander countered. Her heart leapt into her chest as his tone changed drastically. This was different. It was almost animalistic. The amusement was gone. He leaned in and she arched off the wall, feeling like the sun was searing her cheeks only it was his proximity, the fact that his cold breath ran across the bridge of her nose and her cheeks. So close, she could stare into the flecks of his irises, see the flawless quality of his skin. Not even an eyebrow hair was out of place. The short stubble he kept looked almost painted on. She was staring into perfection.

ā€œUnderstand that you are a human in a house filled with vampires. Understand that I am their king. Now, try to grasp the fact that you are subject to whatever I feel the need to do to you. If I wish for you to be skinned alive, you will be. If I wish for you to be locked in an actual prison, you will be,ā€ Alexander continued. Simone didnā€™t flinch or bat an eyelash at his statement. But he didnā€™t, she reminded herself. Clearly she hadnā€™t pushed him to his absolute limits. That told her something. ā€œWith that in mind, consider now the gravity of your situation and the consideration I am in fact showing you.ā€

Iā€™m supposed to be grateful? Was she supposed to collapse on her knees and praise God that she had been kidnapped by a man who stripped her of her basic rights? Heaven almighty be praised! She had been saved to be a blood slave!

Hell no.

ā€œClean her up now,ā€ Alexander barked, dropping Simone. She barely had to straighten herself out. ā€œIf you think you can dominate me, youā€™re wrong,ā€ she told him. Simone intended to say more when suddenly a cold spider like hand wrapped around her left wrist, yanking her off center. Stumbling away from the king, she pulled back on her hand only to find the girl with the white blond hair forcing her out of the main room, deeper into Alexanderā€™s bedroom. ā€œGet!ā€ Simone shouted, gripping the girls fingers with her own and trying to pry them off, locking her knees only to find herself dragged by the servant against her will. Despite her small size and apparent youth she was incredibly strong.

ā€œYou had best mind your words,ā€ the servant snapped, turning to continue dragging her into a bathroom. Simone tripped over the threshold. As she scrambled to avoid falling to her hands and knees on the floor the door was closed and locked behind her. Sarai stood behind her, her eyes large and glassy looking. As Simone looked over her shoulder at the servant she was astonished by how much she looked like a China doll. Small primly glossed lips, thick lashes, perfect hair and the dress was just a little too much.

ā€œIf you think youā€™re going toā€¦ā€ Simone started, raising a finger and finding herself immediately defensive, looking back into the expansive bathroom, seeing a large claw foot bathtub to the corner while a monstrous black onyx and stainless steel shower stall with frosted glass was to her left. The sink was pristine and not a towel or bit of tissue was out of place. Even the toilet paper was folded.

ā€œI will not be scrubbing you down myself unless it comes to that,ā€ the servant cut her off. ā€œI donā€™t want to put my hands on you but I will if I have to.ā€

Simone swallowed, watching as the servant licked her lips, her eyes darkening for a moment as she exhaled, her shoulders dropping before she sighed, crossing her arms tightly across her chest.

ā€œWell?ā€ the servant asked, raising an eyebrow. ā€œWho are you?ā€ Simone wondered aloud, her own forehead knitting as she tried to figure out this new stranger in front of her. The servant moved, her short heels clicking against the tile until she stepped out of them, moving to open a hidden cabinet to pull out a set of plush white towels. Simone tensed as the girl approached her then, holding them out for her. ā€œMy name is Sarai. I am a servant of his majesty the King. So long as youā€™re alive, you are my task. And my task right now is to bathe you. I am five hundred and thirty two years old. I have seen every bit of the human body there is. But if youā€™re modest, Iā€™ll turn around. But I am not to leave this room.ā€

Simone took the towels as they were handed to her, opening her mouth to speak only to have Sarai press a finger to her lips. ā€œOr I can rip your clothes off of you, force you into that shower, and wipe you down like a baby, ass and all. I donā€™t mind either. If you think heā€™ll avoid you just because youā€™re a mess, youā€™re wrong. You will be cleaned up. If anything, staying like this just invites the starving guards outside to suck you dry and fuck you for fun, even if it means dying a horrible death after. They live for the thrill and you my dear, are a wild one and the hunt only serves to excite them.ā€

They stared at each other for a moment then. Simone weighed her options silently, trying to hold her ground, trying to feel the energy she did when Alexander was in front of her but it dissipated when a knock came at the door.

ā€œIs she cooperating?ā€ a male voice inquired, one of the guards. Sarai lifted her chin then, asking Simone a silent question. For a second she hesitated, before she stepped back and felt her lower lip tremble as she unbuttoned her jeans and began to pull her shirt over her head.

ā€œYes, weā€™re quite fine,ā€ Sarai replied then, her voice monotonous and informative, all at once telling the guard to leave them be while responding to his question. At least she didnā€™t have the audacity to gloat.

Timeskip!!
We're jumping two weeks forward in time - Go write, you crazy bastards =D
- I should add that it's evening

Image

Heels clicked melodically, the pace of the well-poised, confident, blonde woman purposeful. She was clad in an eye-catching sunset-orange dress, the cut of it teasing but not improper. The length was just perfect as it stopped right above her knees, showing off bare, long and toned legs, and while the cut on the front was not matronly, it was not meant to show a ton of cleavage either. She seemed determined, as if she was on a hunt and had her sights set on something specific she could not live without. Her sapphire-coloured eyes were dark with shadows, as though her mind had been haunted for weeks.

And indeed, it had. No sound had come from Simone, no word of her location, no nothing. The police search had turned up empty so far, and they said odds were Sydney and Sapphire would never see their older sister alive again. They said that after two weeks, it was best not to hope too much. Yet Sapphire refused to believe it. She had a feeling Simone was okay. Orā€¦ at least alive. She didnā€™t know why or how, and regardless of instincts, she still worried. A lot. Sheā€™d barely been able to work, and lately sheā€™d gone out every night, drinking herself to the point of oblivion. It was all she could do to remain standing.

She was scared. Plain and simple. Scared for her sister, more than anything. Sapphire wasnā€™t used to such things. She was always the fearless one, the sister who would try anything once and never ignore a dare. Yet with Simoneā€™s disappearance, fear was suddenly ruling Sapphireā€™s life, and at the same time she had to stay strong for Sydney. Around her younger sister, Sapphire was as calm and collected as ever, never letting slip that she was just as worriedā€¦ just as horribly frightened. Where ever Simone was, Sapphire really hoped she would soon be able to get to a phone. Orā€¦ something. Any sign of life would do by now.

Shaking off her worries, Sapphire stepped into the night club she had been headed towards, glancing at her outfit in the window for a brief second as she did. The shadows refused to disappear, but alcohol would certainly get rid of them. It usually did. As such, the blonde moved to the bar instantly, opening her leather jacket. Mere minutes later, the young blonde was smashed, strong alcohol coursing through her veins and in her intoxicated state, for once throughout that entirely too horrid day, she felt like she could breathe. She ran a hand through her loose, blonde locks, leaning back in on the barstool.

Suddenly balance left her and she felt the stool disappear beneath her as she scrambled but as soon as sheā€™d realized she was falling, someone had placed a hand on her waist, the other swiping in to move her feet away from the knocked over piece of furniture. He said nothing as she looked up into brown eyes. Brown. That was so wrong. They were supposed to be green. He was handsome. Well, not Jensen Ackles handsome, but he had a messy Johnny Depp look about him, and he smiled at her as she finally regained some kind of drunked equilibrium and giggled as she stumbled into a standing position. ā€œWoops,ā€ she exclaimed, and he chuckled. ā€œYou should be more careful with these things,ā€ he said, gesturing towards the chair before moving it into an upright position.

ā€œYeaaahh,ā€ she agreed, a little dizzy, ā€œprobably a good idea.ā€ Then she turned on her heel, about to sashay her way onto the dancefloor when he gently wrapped his fingers around her wrist. ā€œHey,ā€ his voice interrupted, oddly gentle but flat to her. ā€œAre you sure youā€™re alright? Iā€™d be happy to take you somewhere.ā€ Sapphire stopped, staring at the man for a second. Then suddenly she laughed. ā€œOh no, no! No need. I am fine just like this. More than fine. No worries.ā€ Then she leaned in, moving her lips to his ear as she whispered conspiratorially ā€œIā€™m justā€¦ā€ she giggled, ā€œreally drunk.ā€ He snorted. ā€œI see that.ā€

As if ignoring what he had just said, Sapphire continued, ā€œAnyways! Iā€™m Sapphire, itā€™s nice to meet me, pleasureā€™s all yours. Wanna dance?ā€ As the word ā€˜danceā€™ left her mouth, she grinned, her body already starting to go with the beat of the music. He looked at her, dubious for a moment, but no words escaped him before Saph had him by the wrist, dragging him onto the dancefloor. ā€œCome on!ā€ she shouted over the music. He laughed, choosing wisely to merely let her lead the way. ā€œDo you always just drag guys along?ā€ He asked, clearly amused as she put one hand behind his neck, the other placed on his chest. She giggled, almost stumbling in her heels when she tried to take a step towards him, but she managed to regain balance. ā€œPuuurrtty much,ā€ she told him in reply.

It didnā€™t take long for the guy, whatever his name was, to forget talking as Sapphire began moving. Soon his hands were on her waist, on her hips, on her stomach or back ā€“ wherever he saw fit as the blondeā€™s movements grew more heated, her dancing oddly elegant in spite of the sexual nature of it. The rest of the world was lost to her in her little bubble of alcoholised bliss.

Unfortunately, however, that didnā€™t last forever, and after only a few minutes, something drew Sapphire out of the mindless dancing. Something tall, pale and alluring. As she looked over to find him looking at her and the man she was with, her breath caught in her throat for but a second, sapphire eyes widening slightly, but fortunately she was able to keep up her dancing, or the reaction would have been much to obvious. He was practically glaring at the two of them, a brooding character to his usually so impassive features. Didnā€™t like her dancing with others, eh? Oh, she had definitely been right! Which meant she was milking this for all of its worth.

And so, Sapphire sent a flirtatious but challenging smirk his way, lifting her hand from the manā€™s neck to send Sabine a little wave before she picked up the dancing, hips swaying sensually, moving just a little closer to the one she was dancing with, all the while keeping eye contact with Sabine, her blue depths gleaming with mischief as she grinned. She barely noticed how the guy she was with took small liberties, like moving his hands a little too low, or how he moved to trace his lips up her neck.

Elbow placed on the armrest of a grand chair, chin rested on the pad of his thumb as his index finger thoughtfully curled around the strong feature, the sole king to an entire race sat perfectly still, the control he implemented almost breathtaking in its own beauty. His brows were furrowed ever so slightly as his mind raced, the only part of him truly moving at this moment. No one could guess what hid behind the green, piercing gaze of Alexander ChartƩs, and few wanted to truly try. Fewer still dared ask. The man was dressed in a pair of black pants paired with a dark grey, formfitting long-sleeved tee. It was simple, nothing flashy about it, yet he had so very clearly been born to take the throne. He needed nothing; no words, no servants and no expensive materials, to let the world know that he were in fact a king.

Two weeks it had been. Two weeks since he had brought her home to spend the rest of her days as his blood slave. Two weeks were nothing. Two weeks were a barely even a blip in the lifespan of a human, so to him it was laughable to even consider it an amount of time. And yetā€¦ so much seemed to have happened. How was that possible? The first week with the redhead had been trying. He wasnā€™t sure why, because honestly heā€™d had slaves fighting it before and heā€™d merely restrained them without second though, yet the mere idea of doing that to Simone, was justā€¦ wrong. Heā€™d fed on her every day, however. Not because he needed it, as he felt oddly full even after just a bit of her blood, but because the taste was addicting.

Heā€™d found himself wanting to taste her on a real orgasm. Heā€™d found it made the blood sweeter, and the idea of her blood getting even better was almost too much for him to resist. Regardless, he knew the odds of her surviving a trip to his bedroom were close to zero, so he stuck with the hands-off approach. On the second day, however, when heā€™d come to feed on her, sheā€™d put up quite the struggle. In fact, sheā€™d thrashed so violently that sheā€™d made his feeding on her all kinds of messy, so on the third day, heā€™d enthralled her to remain still, yet once he let her out of it, sheā€™d actually run from him.

Now, normally Alexander had no problem with fear. In fact, he considered it a decent substitute for respect, but watching her run from him, that horrified look in her pretty eyesā€¦ it had struck something in him. He didnā€™t know what, and he didnā€™t want to delve into it too deeply, but heā€™d promised himself never to scare her that way again. Then heā€™d wondered why the hell he gave a fuck, and wondered whether he was going soft. He hadnā€™t come to a conclusion yet.

As a result of the incident, Alexanderā€™s treatment of Simone had become much gentler, perhaps with the realization that no matter her bravado, she would eventually break if he was not careful. Of course everything seemed to be backwards with her, because usually his goal was exactly that; to break the humans. And he did so carelessly, because he did not regard their mentality nor their emotions as things of importance. With Simone, however, part of him couldnā€™t quite deal with the thought of her losing that inner fire of hers.

Then, however, the first week had passed, and something in her had changed. Something had put out the fire. In spite of his considerate treatment, Simone had broken, and he didnā€™t have a clue what to do about it. After all, he had never really wanted to bring back the fight in his slaves. He didnā€™t know how to go about it. He knew giving her freedom would be the ultimate solution for her, but he wasnā€™t about to do that. After all, she still was only a human, and he still had not found a way to live without her blood, so what? He could give her some level of freedom, right? He had already given her a room to herself once more, a proper bed instead of the sofa in his livingroom, but it hadnā€™t helped much. She remained unnervingly quiet.

ā€œYour majestyā€, the sound of a male servant brought the king out of his musings. He glanced at the young vampire, raising an eyebrow, as if to say ā€œwhat is it?ā€ The servant cleared his throat before continuing. ā€œI was sent to inform you, that the human is ready for you, your highness.ā€
Alexander responded with a curt nod as he elegantly moved into a standing position, ignoring the people around him. After all, he was not done thinking and he had not moved for any of them. He had moved because dinner was ready; because he had wanted the taste of Simoneā€™s blood on his tongue for hours.

The king was completely soundless as his legs carried him towards the room in which Simone was kept. Normally his food would be brought to him, but as heā€™d already found, everything was different with this human. The door to her room was opened by one of the guards stationed outside and the king took a single step inside, hearing the door close behind him. Green eyes took in the room briefly before falling on Simone.

ā€œGood evening, love,ā€ he began smoothly as he strode towards her, eyes intensely on hers, steps purposeful. They both knew what was coming next.

14 days, 13 hours and 22 minutes. She had been imprisoned in this mansion for 14 days, 13 hours and 22 minutes. Simone knew that she had changed. Four escape attempts, one violent race for the door, two foolish attempts to get by Sarai, one desperate effort to slip a note out the window into the yard for anyone to find. 14 feedings in captivity, only twice had she been free to actually move of her own accord. Whenever she closed her eyes she could see the second time, how he had cut something vital when sheā€™d thrown her head back to get away from him, how her carotid or jugular or something in her neck had suddenly sprayed across the wall and him like a slasher flick before heā€™d covered it with his mouth. Thereafter she had been immobilized but the experience was with her whenever she closed her eyes, whenever she faced the prospect of yet another feeding. It was that or his mutating animalistic face from in the car.

The third time she had remembered. Nothing had prepared her for the jarring bite of his teeth into her skin and the resulting break through of some block he had placed in her mind of the first two times they had met, how he had fed on her involuntarily and made her forget, how he had attacked a man more violently than she remembered. He had never been the devilishly handsome man in the club. He had always been a monster and moreover it appeared that he was always going to be. He took from her every day, almost faster than her body could recuperate. Her inherent reaction had been to get away from him as fast as possible. They had been laying on his bed ā€“ or more he had frozen her standing still and carried her over to this monstrous (and pointless ā€“ did Vampires sleep?) mattress, laid her how he wanted and taken his fill. When he had freed her of the thrall ā€“ as Sarai called it ā€“ Simone had rolled away from him and off the bed, landing on her hands and knees, looking up at him terrified before she moved to press her back into the corner of a wall. When he had moved, sheā€™d raised her hands to defend herself. He had never been kind to her. He had always just wanted to take and take. When would this end? Never. That much had become clear very fast. There was no way to win.

Sarai had been instructed to flip her sleeping schedule but that hadnā€™t happened. Now, on the 14th day in captivity, she was twenty-three hours without sleep. Whatever she had been given for lunch she had thrown up. Food had become another issue. She hadnā€™t been allowed near the kitchen and whatever junk they kept bringing tasted more like gruel than food. With stress and anxiety now she wasnā€™t holding much of anything in her.

Simone stood in her own private bathroom, the very same one where two weeks ago she had plucked glass from her shoulder. Nothing about it had changed, except that Sarai stood behind her, dragging a brush through her freshly washed red curls, fluffing them on her shoulders. Simone raised a hand to the red scarf around her neck, rubbing the silk between her fingers. Sarai had chosen her outfit again, leaving her dressed in a proper black dress, tights and nearly thigh high lace up suede heeled boots. The blond vampire stepped back, set the brush on the counter and smiled. Simoneā€™s lips were set in a thin line, her eyelids hanging low while she turned to face her servant, not needing to be told, knowing what was coming, understanding why her skin had virtually been scrubbed raw.

ā€œLet his majesty know that she is prepared,ā€ Sarai informed one of the guards standing closer to the bedroom door. He stepped out and when it closed behind him Simone flinched, clenching her hands at her side. When she had woken up the second day, all she had wanted was for everything to be a dream. Startled awake by noise, Simone had found herself curled up in the fetal position on a loveseat in his living room. When she had rolled onto her back her eyes had landed squarely on one of the assigned guards. The sucking sounds, the sloshing of a tongue, the quick breathing, the subtle whining. It all demanded her attention and she had been affronted by the fact that the man was feeding on a human ā€“ a scraggly brunette woman dressed in cheap linens. She had been boney and incredibly pale, holding her hair aside and visibly wincing as the guard took his fill. When he was sated he pushed her away and she bowed, setting her hair back over her shoulders, tucking her chin, and walking away to the next, where she offered her neck again, only he took her wrist instead.

Sarai had noticed that she was awake then and had pulled her into the bathroom for a second time. ā€œThere are other humans here?ā€ She had demanded. The servant had sighed, looking at her while rolling her eyes. ā€œOf course,ā€ Sarai replied, her tone implying Simoneā€™s own stupidity. ā€œWe must feed every day.ā€

ā€œDid you abduct them as well?ā€ she had demanded. ā€œThey are from our homeland. Now in the shower. You smell like sweat.ā€ Rendering the question effectively moot, Sarai had shoved her into the scalding water.

Now as she stepped back into the main room, Simone found herself adopting much the same disposition as the other humans she had seen. Her head was low, her arms slack. She held her fingers together in front of her, her toes touching while her heels flared outwards. Dimly she stared at the floor, not paying attention to the new dƩcor, the modern furniture, the vibrant splashes of red and dark wood. She had to admit it was more to her taste, but she was hard pressed to like it.

Sarai stood off side, taking a bag of laundry into her hands containing towels and the previous days clothes. The feeding was the only time when her servant was able to step outside, to rush and order things she needed. The room was always empty when his majesty was present. Simone heard the door shift and with a snap the blond girl was out the door, closing it behind her while Alexander stepped inside. Simone kept her head low, not acknowledging him while her heart raced in her chest. The anxiety of being around him hadnā€™t changed. The arousal hadnā€™t. Her curiosity hadnā€™t ebbed. He was gentler, yes. But he was still the king. He was still taking from her without asking. He was still amused by how he made her feel. It made no sense to her. The pleasure that came from him felt immoral. And the others, whenever the guards or Sarai was feeding, they looked incredibly pained. Why was it different?

As he walked up to her, Simone clenched her teeth, keeping her chin down, closing her eyes knowing he would try to look into them.

ā€œGood evening, love,ā€ he greeted her. Fuck you, she thought lowly, not saying anything. In fact she hadnā€™t said anything to him in days. Perhaps he wanted it this way. All the other vampires seemed much happier ā€“ Sarai especially ā€“ that she was compliant. Maybe it was better to be like the others. It had certainly been less draining and damaging on herself. But slowly Simone felt herself slipping away in the process. All she wanted was to see her sisters and her parents. She had cried the past few nights thinking about them, how much worry she was causing them, how they must be panicked and scared and would always wonder what happened to her. The thoughts made her inhale sharply, feeling her eyes sting. Still, she fought off the tears, bracing herself for him, for what he was going to do. 14 days, 13 hours and 36 minutes.

When Sabineā€™s eyes narrowed further, Sapphireā€™s grin widened. Oh, but he was being such a stubborn, stubborn thing, wasnā€™t he? She giggled when he rolled his eyes at her in the most childish, offended manner, and turned his back on her dance. His entire body remained tense, however, even as he sat there, eyes taken off of her and the guy she was with, in a display of defiance. And he remained in his seat. He didnā€™t strike her as the type to usually willingly partake in anything fun so she wondered why he would be there if not for her. But that didnā€™t makeā€¦ except maybe it didā€¦ and oh. Sapphireā€™s eyes widened as the male she was with slid a hand under her dress.

By instinct, she pushed him off, frowning at him as he stumbled back a few steps. She swayed slightly, suddenly a little out of balance, and she reached out to hold onto some random person. She sent the young girl an apologetic, drunken smile, and fortunately she remained standing until Sapphire had found control of her legs once more and let go, sending the girl off with a happy ā€œthanks, darlinā€™!ā€ She had turned to wave her unexpected helper off, but as she swung back around, the guy she had been dancing with was suddenly back and a little too in her face. ā€œLook, Iā€™m sorry, but itā€™s not like you werenā€™t asking for it.ā€

Sapphire blinked up at him, taking a few seconds to take it all in and properly decide on what he was actually saying to her. Then she laughed, the sound mocking in itself. ā€œI didnā€™t ask for shit, but thanks anyway.ā€ With that she ran off, forcing her way through the throng of people to reach Sabine, surprisingly graceful as she scooted in between his seat and the one next to it, reaching out to twirl a strand of his hair around her index finger. The grin she directed at him was happy to see him, and she was. For some reason having Sabine here made the night better. Not that she could grasp why on earth it would. Heā€™d done nothing but piss her off.

ā€œYou look so cute when youā€™re all brooding,ā€ she teased him, sapphire eyes gleaming mischievously. In fact he looked rather sexy. It was a little odd, to be frank, but her body seemed to magnetically take itself towards him. Sheā€™d accepted the fact that he was a force to be reckoned with when it came to her body, but this was odd. Maybe it was the alcohol. Yep, it was definitely the alcohol. It always made her more susceptible to male charms andā€¦ physical approaches. Well, usually it did. It always had before sheā€™d met Sabine. After that other guys hadnā€™t really been able to get much of a reaction out of her. Maybe that was why it was so intense with him; she hadnā€™t gotten laid in so fucking long.

That was what she needed! Sex! Yes! That made sense! And andā€¦ damn it, she needed to findā€¦ someone. Didnā€™t matter who. She was too drunk to properly remember tomorrow anyways. Sabine was still looking awfully sexy. Maybeā€¦ no. Nuh uh. Not Sabine. No way. He wouldnā€™t, anyway. He was too uncomfortable with touch. Yep. There was no way. Regardless of her own mind having gone over it all, however, Sapphire couldnā€™t stop her intoxicated brain from wanting what it couldnā€™t have.

Besides, she couldnā€™t resist teasing him a bit. After all, it was Friday and the night was young! She looked up at Sabine, that playful smile still on her lips. ā€œSilly of you, though, to be sitting here like that, when you could come dance with me instead.ā€ She told him, letting her eyes study his, not caring one bit that her own were probably a bit glazed by now. Then she smiled wryly, leaning in to whisper in his ear, ā€œSabine Marx. The man who isnā€™t man enough to take what he wants.ā€ Straightening back up, she raised an eyebrow then. ā€œAnd donā€™t tell me you donā€™t want me, darling. At least you definitely donā€™t want others to, and lies are such tasteless things.ā€ Of course being obnoxiously intoxicated, Sapphire didnā€™t quite grasp the implications of her words.

As Alexander approached the redheaded human in front of him, he took in her appearances, evaluating her state in a way he rarely bothered to. After all, he had people to keep the humans alive and well enough to be fed on, but it seemed Sarai was doing a rather terrible job when it came to keeping Simone well nourished. The human had lost weight in the past two weeks, the colour in her cheeks was slowly dwindling with the lack of energy, and the bags under her eyes spoke much of her lack of sleep. She looked pale and feeble. Especially in contrast to the wild, vibrant locks framing her features.

And her stance. Truly, Sarai could not be blamed for the change within Simone; the odd submissiveness, which heā€™d found himself liking less and less, the quietness, the lack of spark in her eyes. Her fight was gone. Well, most of it. As he reached her, Alexander curled his index finger under her chin and tucked it upwards gently, looking down at her thoughtfully. Such an odd little thing, she was. And to think heā€™d wanted to get rid of her fire before. Now all he wanted was to get it back. He sighed, looking down at her, a slight glint of worry in his green depths.

He couldnā€™t thrall her again if he wanted her to regain some of that previous fire sheā€™d presented him with. She had to be able to at least moveā€¦ right? Well, it was a step on the way. Since sheā€™d hurt herself in trying to fight him on her second day here, Alexander had not felt comfortable letting her have control of her own body while his sharp, long fangs were in her neck. Last time she had survived well enough, but the amount of blood everywhere had been trying on his guards who were much younger than he. Besides, what if she severed something important? If she died, Alexander was screwed. As such, heā€™d kept her still against her will, but now sheā€™d been compliant for quite a while and he felt comfortable enough letting her have some bits of freedom back.

ā€œSimone,ā€ he then began, his tone surprisingly gentle to anyone who had not seen the king around Simone for the past weekā€™s time, his green eyes intense on her, ā€œI am going to trust you not to hurt yourself while I feed on you.ā€ He said no more as an arm was placed around her waist, the hand under her chin moving to swipe her hair to the side ever so gently, pushing the red scarf down enough to reveal the spot he always bit, his fingers brushing her skin teasingly as he did, before the hand cupped her cheek. It did not take the king much time to tilt his head down and to the side, fangs sliding out automatically as he moved to sink them into her neck, right at that wildly pulsating vein he had come to know so well.

No matter how many times Alexander had Simoneā€™s blood, the taste never became boring. It was an explosion of tiny orgasms on his tongue as it, gentle and controlled as ever, lapped up every single drop of blood coming out of the holes he had made himself. He always healed her up afterwards. Always. It was an odd contrast really, since Alexander was usually a rather cold individual. He did not oftentimes care enough about a person to show signs of compassion, except when it came to a select few. Alanya, Nebbs were two ā€œlivingā€ people he genuinely and openly felt any level of affection towards. As much trouble as Nebbs was, she was still a friend, and although he would often find himself frustrated with her, she would always remain so. Hell, if she had not been a friend, she would not have been alive.

As Alexander finished his feeding on Simone, having fought himself not to move his hands from their relatively innocent placements, he drew back carefully, his tongue sweeping over the two perfect puncture wounds. They healed up as always, and as he held up the human woman, the hand on her cheek moved to caress her hair. His gaze was at the door as he wondered at everything that had happened. Then he murmured softly, that sliver of worry not quite hidden in his voice, ā€œyouā€™re not eating properly.ā€ It was a statement. It was not harsh, nor was it demanding of her. He was merely curious to see whether she would speak up. He was giving her room to after all. He assumed there was a reason she was losing weight here, and he wanted to know it.

Simone looked down at where her fingers pulled at his hands, her palms warm against the solid cold quality of his hands. Her nails clawed at him gently, attempting to pry his grip off her hip. Alexander may well have been solid marble. Not a single scratch appeared on his skin and no matter how hard she tried to snake her hands under his he was unmoving. The vampireā€™s grip was strong, yet she didnā€™t feel the pinch of his grip.

ā€œIā€™ve noticed,ā€ Alexander remarked lowly. Simone sighed. His attentive nature did not surprise her in the slightest. Having fallen silent as she had, the past five days had merely been a number of exchanged glances. It was not beyond her to notice that he was paying attention to her every move. Simone knew that he did the same then. The air in the room shifted and she felt her body respond differently to him accordingly. While his touch was cold, she was suddenly heated. Slowly she raised her eyes, merely keeping her hands over his. Squeezing his hands gently, Simone met his gaze, her cheeks flushed. With a steely gaze she stared at him, feeling the tension explode the moment their eyes connected. It felt like a strong current was running between them. In that silence, she bit on her lower lip, blinking twice, unsure of what else she could tell him.

ā€œWould it help any if I made the kitchen available to you? You couldā€¦ prepare your own food,ā€ Alexander asked her. Simoneā€™s eyes widened at his proposal. Holding her lip between her teeth she searched him for signs that he was lying, scanning his face for any subtle twitch. He was so close. Simone could feel his breath on her cheek, the few times he did inhale and exhale. The strong scent of male body wash hit her hard, paired with his natural smell, the very same one she had remembered and craved in dreams for two years after meeting him for the first time.

ā€œContrary to what you believe, Simone,ā€ Alexander added, ā€œyour wellbeing matters quite a bit to me.ā€ She exhaled in a short breath, her gentle side fading as the redhead couldnā€™t help but rolling her eyes at him. The heat disappeared as she leaned away from him, shifting her hands to his hips before falling to her sides, unsure of where to go. Still, she wanted to touch him. That she couldnā€™t deny. The fear, the anxiety, it faded into the back of her mind when he demanded her attention, having made her feel what she did during the feeding. Just like she was fresh from an orgasm only he amplified the strength of it and its duration 10x moreover than any man she had ever been with.

ā€œSure,ā€ she whispered lowly, sarcasm lacing her tone as she replied to his comments about his concern for her. ā€œI see the real difference between myself and the others by the way. Want me to kneel on my feet and kiss your shoes in thanks?ā€ Raising an eyebrow, she looked back at him, waiting his reply. The offer of a real kitchen brought to her mind the possibility of getting her hands on knives. Weapons. But her stomach rolled then, painful enough to make her split second of sass dissipate as she winced. Breathing through her hunger deeply, Simone turned her cheek to him and leaned closer so that she was practically hunched over which was more comforting. It wasn't just weapons that mattered. Who was she kidding. Simone was starving and she typically had an appetite that rivaled the zoo's lions. She leaned her forehead to his shoulder where his heart would have been were he human. Simone wrapped her hands around him then, falling out of their present as she gripped him tightly. He wasn't a monster to her then, but instead oddly consoling. With her face against his chest and with a deep breath she was completely washed over by him and sudden pressing and engulfing desire.

Simone sighed deeply, leaning her weight into him almost entirely. She dragged her hands up the length of his back before grabbing onto his shoulder blades, grounding herself with her grip. It was so satisfying that Simone didnā€™t even realize what she was doing when the bedroom door opened and the sound of the lock caused her to come to. The daze faded and she shifted, seeing Sarai appear with several boxes in hand. Simone watched the servant set them down on a bench by the doorway before curtsying low to the king.

ā€œApologies for interrupting your highness, may I speak with you?ā€ Sarai asked lowly, keeping her eyes averted from him. Simone bit down on the inside of her cheek, squeezing her eyes shut in her efforts to quell her desire to just jump him. She could see it when she closed her eyes. Not the horrific splashes of blood. No. Having been able to feel and react to the feeding, something seemed to have changed. Maybe she would feel differently when he left. She couldnā€™t deny it however. When she closed her eyes the violence wasnā€™t what she saw. Instead she saw passionate heated kisses between the two of them. Swallowing, she hoped he would decide to leave then.

When Sabineā€™s arm moved to wound around her waist, his hand curled at the base of her spine, Sapphire found herself looking up into his eyes, seemingly falling under a subtle spell he appeared to be weaving. She just feltā€¦ safe. Being in this firm embrace felt right. It seemed his embrace had been what sheā€™d been waiting for all of her life and she gave in to that feeling, enjoying the rightness of it. Like she was supposed to be here, like he was her home away from home. She felt comfortable. It was so odd, considering she barely knew him, but for some reason, in this moment, she trusted him more than anyone. Trusted him to protect her and take care of her; trusted him not to hurt her.

Odd, considering he already had, but thoughts like that were discarded as her body seemed to melt into his, as though the two of them became one, and her body had been shaped to fit his perfectly. The way heā€™d tensed when sheā€™d kissed his neck deliberately still lingered. The memory of it was heady. The fact that she could affect him that way was enough to let her know that he did indeed want her too, and heā€™d obviously loosened up around her, considering he had told her he did not like to be touched only two weeks previously, and now he seemed happy to put his hands on herā€¦ liked to be touched by her in turn as well. Just like his possessive look when she had danced with that other guy had jolted something inside of her, his nearness and embrace did too.

The heat and desire seemed constant and she felt fairly certain it would not be sated until he gave in. She desperately needed him to give in. Now that sheā€™d felt his proximityā€¦ felt his embraceā€¦ she couldnā€™t imagine letting go again. She needed it. God knew why, but she did. Then he finally spoke and once more, as the husky purr washed over her, Sapphire had to bite down on her lower lip, looking up at him with both desire and wonder. She took a deep breath, trying not to be too taken by the mere sound of his voice this way. Why was he being so difficult? Never had she had to fight to get laid this way. Guys usually came running when she called, but no. Sabine simply had to be challenging when she wanted him more than sheā€™d ever wanted any other man.

ā€œI thought a gentleman was supposed to be nice. Orā€¦ in the very leastā€¦ considerate,ā€ she countered playfully to his words, having regained her equilibrium surprisingly quickly as she leaned her face in to nuzzle the tip of her nose gently against the lobe of his ear. ā€œBut no,ā€ she then continued more quietly near his ear, ā€œI happen to be rather fond of this version of you.ā€ When she straightened to look into his eyes once more, she added, ā€œalthough in all honesty, you are being terribly difficult,ā€ with a teasing smirk on her lips, her drunken eyes flicked over his face. His lips. Why wouldnā€™t he just fucking kiss her? Did she seriously have to do everything herself? Psh. Men.

Soon, however, Sabineā€™s hand was playing with a strand of her hair, and once more a shot of electricity shot through her, although this one was different. It wasnā€™t going to her groin. Noā€¦ this one shit straight into her heart and she found herself taken aback by him. Her heart sped up just a little as she stared at him observing her hair. Such a simple act, really, yet something about the process was utterly captivating. It took him but moments before he was tucking the strand of golden hair back behind her ear and her eyes widened just a fraction. So gentle yet so powerful. Sheā€™d seen him tossing around a group of fit men, yet he was so utterly gentle with her, his obvious strength only evident in the firmness of his embrace.

His hand brushed through her soft locks and she tilted her head to the side a little, watching him so deliberately placing his hands on the small of her back to join the first him. It seemed he was all she could pay attention to right now. He was all she had an interest in. She blinked a couple of times when his eyes suddenly found hers once more, and the jolt of it caused a soft gasp to escape her as she sucked in a breath of air. So intenseā€¦ his eyes. Even though there was an amused edge to them, they drew her in like nothing else possibly could.

When he then spoke, however, a frustrated sigh escaped her and she narrowed her eyes at him impatiently. ā€œOh no. No. You donā€™t get to do this to me.ā€ She stood up on her toes as to level the two more, although it really didnā€™t do much, so she just ended up looking rather silly, not that she noticed that much herself. Her hands twisted in his hair as she looked up at him, a drunken, decisive fire in her eyes, clearly mixing with desire and impatience. She was horny and he needed to stop playing around!

ā€œYou want me too or you wouldnā€™t be here, so stop pretending to merely be playing along.ā€ She stated, her tone not taking no for an answer. ā€œSo,ā€ she then continued, ā€œeither you pick up your game, or Iā€™m sure I could find several other willing men in here.ā€ Heā€™d challenged her, but this way he could tease her all night and sheā€™d never get fucking laid! No proper sex for two years could make a body rather wanton, and he clearly had a lot of damned self control. Ugh, she hated men with self control. They were so difficult to manipulate with sex. Tsk tsk. Sabine wasnā€™t going to give in until he felt like it, no matter how much she teased him.

Althoughā€¦ apparently her kisses did have some effect. If this didnā€™t work, she had plenty of other cards up her sleeve. No matter how it seemed, she wasnā€™t giving up. She wanted him, damn it, and her sex-deprived body was going to have him.

When Simone replied, Alexanderā€™s initial reaction was to chuckle, relieved to see these little flashes of the human woman heā€™d brought home with him two weeks ago. ā€œItā€™d be a start,ā€ he responded playfully to her question of whether he wanted her to kiss his shoes in thanks, an amused glint in his eyes. Of course he didnā€™t expect her to do it ā€“ after all, she didnā€™t seem to have much regard for his position, no matter how many times it had been demonstrated. Especially not considering her sarcastic tone of voice. She was much too proud a little creature, wasnā€™t she? Rather interesting, it was.

Ah, and sheā€™d rolled her eyes at him. He wasnā€™t particularly fond of people doing that, but thenā€¦ people had never done that around him. Well, okay, so Alanya had done it a few times, but that was different, since she was his daughter, and it had been during her moreā€¦ rebellious phase. Fortunately sheā€™d gotten over that many centuries ago. Honestly it had been quite a bother, both to him and everyone else, because sheā€™d frankly started exploring how far her looks and a few well-placed words and touches could get her. The answer had been served after a little while; very far. A beautiful woman could easily find herself in a very powerful position if she knew how to work it. Alanya had both the talents and the looks, so although she was not queen yet, she was regarded as one.

Alexander himself had conflicted feelings about that. On one hand, he was proud of her prowess, but on the other hand, he didnā€™t particularly like the way men looked at her. Perhaps that was the base of his dislike when it came to Alanyaā€™s involvement with Daniel Bowman. As much as he tried to convince himself that heā€™d gotten used to it, a father never really did let go, did he? Regardless, he didnā€™t react to Simone rolling her eyes at him. Heā€™d merely chosen to ignore it because frankly she didnā€™t know better. True, he could educate her, and he could most likely turn her into the same meek kind of lamb as the other cattle in his household, but there was something different about her. Perhaps the taste of her blood made him more inclined to enjoy being around her. It definitely had to be the blood. It set her apart.

Heā€™d looked into her grey eyes for no more than a few seconds when she suddenly hunched forward, a pained expression crossing her pretty features. He stared at her, panicking quietly. ā€œSimone?ā€ He urged, worry shining through clearly in his voice. What did one do in a situation such as this? He was about to call out to the guards when her stance changed and she leaned into him, the look of pain dissipating. She was okay, right? This meant she was okay? She couldnā€™t not be okay. He was going to kill Sarai if Simone fell ill. That servant girl had done a piss-poor job of taking care of the redhead as it was.

When she gripped him tightly then, her arms wrapping around him, Alexander breathed a small sigh of relieve. The tense state of her muscles was no more, and she now seemed to fall into him, holding onto him as though he was her salvation. Odd situation really. She was holding onto him while his teeth were not in her neck. She hadnā€™t done that before yet it feltā€¦ well, he couldnā€™t quite decipher what he felt about it, and he certainly did not even want to consider that shot of panic heā€™d just experienced. Never would he even give it a second thought. He really didnā€™t like the direction that would take him.

His free arm came to wrap around her too as he drew her closer. Her hands sliding up his back, pressing her body closer to his even more, made Alexander look down at her fully, a mane of red meeting his gaze as he held onto her firmly. Was there a reason she was doing this? What was her game this time? His mind doubted her every move, racing away as he attempted to analyze her reasons for this. She seemed to hold onto him for dear life, and although Alexander didnā€™t want to fully recognize it, he didnā€™t want to let go of her again. For some reason unknown to him, having her in his arms was justā€¦ the way it should be. It felt like he was in the right place, and that more than anything worried him.

It worried him more than this inexplicable urge to tip up her chin and take her lips. Why did he want her this way? It had to be the blood. Yes, the blood must call to him in more than one way. That was the only real explanation. He couldnā€™t possibly want a human this way for any other reason. Even the ones he took to bed, only joined him there because he wanted to taste their blood on the high of an orgasm. There was nothing better. That was all it was. Nothing more. One hand danced up the middle of her back then, stopping only between her shoulder blades when he heard the door open without a single knock.

Alexander stiffened, immediately irritated. He didnā€™t have to look to know who it was either. Funny how she thought she could suddenly take liberties wasnā€™t it? Even Brigitte, who had been his personal servant for almost two millennia, did not dare take liberties. Perhaps this little thing needed to be put in her place. He could feel Simone shifting in his arms, and he ground his teeth, closing his eyes briefly to instill patience in himself. Alexander did not tolerate anything less than the utmost level of respect and Sarai seemed unable to deliver. That disappointed him greatly. One did not just barge in on a private audience. One did not just barge in on the king, period.

When the thing spoke to him, he reluctantly let go of Simone, looking down at her flushed face before glancing at Sarai, his eyes flashing with censure. The king clearly wasnā€™t happy with her. ā€œVery well,ā€ he told her then finally, his voice patient and calm, but clearly with an undertone that told him he was less than pleased with the way she had justā€¦ waltzed in like she owned the place. Then he bent down to place a soft, lingering kiss on Simone cheek as he murmured, ā€œThis will only take a little while, then I will take you to the kitchen.ā€ He grabbed Sarai, his firm grip around her wrist a little too tight to be anywhere near polite.

Alexander forcefully dragged the servant out the door, slinging her in front of him once they were outside and he let go out her to rapidly close the door. Only then did his eyes flash with real anger, burning into her. ā€œYou will never again simply walk in when I am with Simone,ā€ he ordered, his voice hard but controlled. ā€œDo you understand?ā€ He did not have to utter a threat. She should know very well that failure to obey was met with executionā€¦ unless your name happened to be Alanya or Nebellia. Or Simoneā€¦ apparently. But that didnā€™t count. She was humanā€¦ and she was new. She didnā€™t know better. He watched her quietly for a little while, before continuing, ā€œNow, what do you want?ā€

Simone breathed slowly, swallowing and holding her eyes closed as she felt Alexander withdraw. She couldnā€™t explain it, but she wanted to savor the moment. The anxiety and fear she had felt that morning were at the back of her mind. Something about touching him was consoling. More so, however, she felt the attraction blistering, the very thing she had been trying to deny since he had sauntered over to her at Blues Pub. The very thing she had been trying to deny since meeting him period. As she soaked in her physical reaction to him, she wanted desperately to act on it for the first time. Her hands slid away from his back reluctantly. As his hand swept away from her lower back, she sighed, moving to look over at Sarai who stood awkwardly by her pile of boxes and fresh clothes before looking at the floor and turning away from Alexander entirely. The heat in her cheeks was undeniably. The pressure in her stomach and the jolt of her nerves in her legs was electric. She was hungry but she wanted more than food.

ā€œVery well,ā€ Alexander replied to the servant. Simone bit on her lower lip a second time to keep herself quiet. The wall went back up. The mental war with her physical allure to him was re-ignited. As the king turned back to her she let her eyelids sit heavy again, barely looked at him as he leaned in then and kissed her cheek lightly. Her entire body reacted to the simple gesture and she tensed, feeling the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. Simone clenched her hands in fist and held her breath as he pulled away. It may have taken him a split second to do it but he seemed to move in slow motion. Where his lips had touched she felt on fire. You shouldnā€™t like this. You shouldnā€™t want this, she rebuked herself in thought vehemently.

ā€œThis will only take a little while, then I will take you to the kitchen," Alexander murmured. Simone didnā€™t respond, watching as he moved in a blink to snatch up Saraiā€™s wrist. The servantā€™s eyes widened in surprise and she yelped lowly as she was suddenly taken outside. When they stepped outside the room she exhaled loudly, her chest suddenly rising and falling rapidly. She breathed fast, bending over to place her hands on her knees. For the first time in two weeks she was completely alone. She felt like she could breath again. The air seemed to change with their absence and her body relaxed in a way she hadnā€™t thought possible. She rushed to the bathroom, feeling her stomach twist sharply again. Simone couldnā€™t tell if the anxiety was butterflies, fear or relief. The redhead turned the sinkā€™s cold water tap on full blast, shakily grabbing a face cloth so that she would wet it and dab at her cheeks and throat. Her body was so feverish and yet when she glanced up at her reflection she looked gaunt and pale, signs of blood loss on top of her lightheadedness and fatigue. While she wanted to cook herself a feast, Simone was confronted by her desire to just curl up in a ball and pass out.

Sarai knew she had overstepped the moment she stepped back into the room. For some reason she had forgotten to knock. It was the first time that she had ever not requested to enter a room before she did. The young vampire inhaled sharply as the king looked at her sharply, his eyes glaring at her like knives. She looked at the human girl to avoid him, her shoulders tightening as she tried to physically shrink away from his view. The human girl was flushed and still sickly, all signs of her morning and lack of sleep. It wasnā€™t like Sarai wasnā€™t trying. She was a handful. Maybe the king didnā€™t see it but while her fuss had died down, she hadnā€™t stopped throwing up that morning for close to an hour after waking up in a complete fit of screams and tears. Again. And only after four hours of peace ā€“ but who was she kidding, even when the girl slept things werenā€™t peaceful.

Alexander excused himself. Sarai didnā€™t understand why the girl needed to be told that he would only be a minute. She didnā€™t matter. She was food to him. Temporary. She would inevitably be cast aside. They all were eventually. Sarai was surprised that she had lasted as long as she had already. It was increasingly apparent that something was unique about her.

Sarai was surprised when the king approached her, grabbing her left hand tightly in his and pulling her out the door into the hall. She squeaked in shock, feeling his strength and the grinding of her wrist in his grasp, her bones protesting his crushing grip. When they were no more than two paces from the door he released her and Saraiā€™s shoulders were at her ears in a split second, her eyes lowered and her entire posture became apologetic.

ā€œYou will never again simply walk in when I am with Simone,ā€ he ordered sharply. Sarai flinched at his words. She knew she had done wrong and the guilt was suddenly so heavy on her shoulders. She was screwing up. They all had bets on how long she would last too. She had heard them in the laundry room as she left. This girl would be the death of her and no measly human should be capable of causing a vampire their life. Especially not this childish one.

ā€œDo you understand?ā€ he asked her again. ā€œYes your majesty,ā€ Sarai replied lowly, her voice laced with fear. She looked up at him wearily then, feeling whipped by his rebuke. Sarai anticipated being struck. It had happened before by others when sheā€™d screwed something up. She was nearly rendered to shaking in front of him.

ā€œNow, what do you want?ā€ he asked impatiently. Sarai moved slowly to collect a small bag she had left outside the door, never turning her back to the king. Slowly she pulled out Simoneā€™s stained clothes from the first day she had arrived. ā€œYour highness, I wanted to know what you wanted to do with these. Weā€™ve been working to clean them but her blood has clearly stained them. I know Miss Nebellia may have use of them?ā€ she asked meakly, holding out Simoneā€™s torn shirt, the dark brown splotches embedded in the fabric. Sarai breathed in the girlā€™s scent clearly in those moments, waiting for him to respond before she set it back in the bag. ā€œI also wanted to explain her condition,ā€ she swallowed, not sure if she was in a place to justify any aspect of her actions. ā€œIā€™ve tried to flip her sleep schedule as you prefer, but she physically canā€™tā€¦she sleeps for three to four hours at a time and she talks. About you. Last night she called out for you. When she woke up she was physically sick. She vomited for an hour. Yesterday as well. The day before it was less. She eats but she canā€™t stomach it. I have tried everything I can think of short of human drugs to make her sleep and calm down. I donā€™t understand because in her sleep she isnā€™t fearful. She soundsā€¦aroused.ā€

At that she stopped her commentary, letting him process what she had seen and heard in the past few days before she continued. ā€œIt is also a question of mine as to whether you intend to bed her. That will requireā€¦preparations,ā€ she added lowly. Alexander was likely familiar with her earlier position with preparing humans for any upper level elite who wanted to enjoy more carnal pleasures with them. It was a job she had been happy to be rid of. It was a low position, but undoubtedly important. Still, she had never thought of it as something to be enjoyed. They were lowly creatures. Gross. Expendable.

He was grinning at her! And he looked good while doing it. No matter how mocking or patronizing his amusement, the smiles he sent her way always did catch her attention. He didnā€™t strike her as the type to often show emotions, so whenever his lips twitched around her, it felt good. Like sheā€™d accomplished something few others could and she didnā€™t even know if that was the case! Silly of her, really. She was a silly thing. Yep, that was it. There was her explanation. She was simplyā€¦ silly. And she was wishing and wanting for things she couldnā€™t have andā€¦ andā€¦

Her thought trail was broken instantly when Sabine spoke up, his hand flattening as he smoothly pulled her closer yet, the entire movement so impossibly suave. It just seemed soā€¦ perfectly practiced, like heā€™d quite a few more women than one would initially think. She drew in a deep breath, sapphire eyes looking up into deep emerald, her entire body vibrating with anticipation. Just the idea of his lips on hers had her brimming, excitement and desire coursing through her, melting her body in his arms, curving it to his will. Whatever he wanted to do to her right now, he could. Not because she consciously had made that choice, but because her mind seemed to have turned itself off right in that moment, electric impulses keeping her still, gazing up at him.

ā€œYeah?ā€ She breathed, the word expelled on an almost warm, slow pant. It seemed the two were captured in the still eye of a storm as their eyes met fully, and perhaps she was merely imagining things in her drunken stuporā€¦ but she thought she sawā€¦ desire in his eyes as well. So far sheā€™d had to read the little things and guess her way to unsure conclusion, but now he was giving her definite proof; he wanted her. She wet her lips slowly, almost nervous. Which was odd; sheā€™d been with quite a few more men than she cared to mention, but none of them had ever made her nervous. Apparently everything with Sabine had to be different, and right now it was intoxicating.

So intense andā€¦ before she had time to register anything properly with her slurred senses, the feeling of lips on hers, made her pause. For a brief moment she looked up to see the face of the man she had wanted for two yearsā€¦ then her lids fell shut and she gave in. Her arms around his neck tightened and she thereby pulled herself in even closer, but he was frustratingly still. She made a soft protest against his lips and almost in response, Sabine tilted his head just a little to the side as he deepened their kiss.

Sapphire moaned softly, the pleasure coursing through her from such a simple thing almost too much for her to handle. She quivered ever so slightly from pure, undiluted desire as her hands in Sabineā€™s hair tightened impossibly. Her breath had slowed, yet her heart sped up as she grabbled to get closer to him, to feel more of him. This was soā€¦ perfect. Never had a kiss felt this way. Ever.

All too soon, however, he broke the contact, but it was soon replaced by contact between her sensitive skin and his demanding, arousing lips. Her head lilted back a little, soft, heavy panting defining her breathing pattern. He was teasing her. She hated it. No. She loved it. Waitā€¦ noā€¦ she hated it. Yet she loved it. It was torture though. Then he murmured huskily into her ear and another shiver danced down her spine as she took it in, her lips sliding up just a little as she watched him through an aroused, drunken haze. She nibbled on the inside of her lower lip as she purred a soft ā€œmmmmā€ in reply as his lips trailed down her much too sensitive neck.

Her eyes rolled back as she gave in to yet more pleasure. Gods, she couldnā€™t even imagine the pleasure once theyā€¦ oh the thoughts alone were almost too much to contemplate. But then he stopped and her eyes opened slowly, searching for his faceā€¦ searching some explanation for the sudden changeā€¦ the lack of touch. She needed it, damn it! He couldnā€™t stop nowā€¦ he couldnā€™t justā€¦ couldnā€™t just leave her hanging there. It would be much too cruel. Torture, to be frank.

When he spoke again, she barely registered what he said, but the toneā€¦ that sexy purrā€¦ it had deepened. He felt it too. That was all it took as she leaned in, her lips trailing up his neck as she murmured on a soft hum, ā€œDonā€™t stopā€¦ā€ The words left her lips only to be passed on to his ear as she nibbled on it softly, ā€œplease donā€™t stopā€¦ā€ The words were breathyā€¦ desperate. Her nails scraped gently against the back of his head as she held onto him, all thoughts of dignity forgotten. ā€œI need this,ā€ she finally admitted breathily, pausing briefly before adding ā€œI need youā€¦ā€ She didnā€™t pause to think; barely registered what she was saying. There was no deliberate calculation to it; no clever thought process. No. This was raw and devouring.

She feared him. The servant girl. Like she should, of course. Her head was down between her shoulders which were hunched upwards as though they would protect her, and her gaze was almost glued to the floor. She had even flinched when he had spoken to her, and now she seemed to shy away from him. Afraid of being struck, or simply afraid of what he could do to her? His green eyes scanned her observantly, the thought process behind them not easily read as the usual, cool, calm shutters settled over his expression. When she replied, her voice was shaky and unsure, and Alexander took it all in.

Heā€™d have to look into this servant. Normally Alexander didnā€™t bother with such trivialities; he had people for that after all, but this one seemed just a tad too physically afraid of him as thought she expected him to personally dish out some punishment. Apparently she didnā€™t realize that he was above such things. How long had she been in his services? Honestly he had no idea. Sheā€™d been recommended to accompany him to earth, so heā€™d taken her, but before then he couldnā€™t remember noticing her really. The castle at home was swarming with servants at all times, but here she was one among few, and sheā€™d caught his attention, even if he was rather irritated with her at the moment.

Perhaps a change of subject would do them both well. Alexander did not like to dwell on the little things, nor did he see a point in further investigating this matter until he had looked into her past. As such, Alexander demanded to know what she had wanted in the first place, and watched her, a little impatient, as she seemingly dragged herself to some bag she had apparently brought with her. The scent of the contents was quite familiar, but it seemed disturbed byā€¦ different kinds of detergents. The second the bag was opened, however, the scent of Simoneā€™s blood became quite obvious, but Alexander remained impassive, waiting to hear the explanation for this display.

When she asked him what to do with the, frankly, ruined shirt, Alexander stood quiet for a few moments before inclining his head. ā€œYou may pass it on to the royal adviser.ā€ He told her. Really, it was a nice way of ordering her to make sure the clothes got to Nebellia. ā€œMake sure she knows to come see me before she does anything with them,ā€ he then added before falling silent. The girl obviously had more to say, so he raised an eyebrow by way of letting her know he was done speaking.

When she finally began speaking, Alexander listened closely, his green eyes intensely focused on her, just like his mind was fixed on taking it all in. He was about to reply to her explanation, but paused when he noticed she had more to add. The final question however, had him pause, looking at her with his brow slightly furrowed. Where did she get off simply asking him questions such as this? Quietly Alexanderā€™s gaze burned through the small, doll-like servant. She couldnā€™t possibly expect this to be proper behaviour? He did appreciate the note about Simone dreaming about him though; it was indeed an interesting bit of Intel.

He took in a breath, closing his eyes briefly to regain that impassive face he liked to don before he looked down upon her once more. ā€œSince you have found yourself unable to handle one measly, human woman, I will take care of it. She is near-ill and she is weak. I tasked you with the duty to look after her and make sure she stayed healthy.ā€ He told her this with a cold, hard voice before he continued in much the same way, ā€œI feel fairly certain you have not properly obeyed my orders, Sarai.ā€ He paused, knowing she would not dare speak. ā€œHowever,ā€ he then concluded, ā€œI am in a generous mood, so I will let you live ā€“ I will give you one more chance on the condition that you do not disappoint me once more.ā€

His gaze fell from her to the door of Simoneā€™s room then as he concluded, ā€œAs for Simone, I do not wish her dead. My plans do not involve her sharing my bed.ā€ With that he left her, not even giving her a moment to reply as he entered Simoneā€™s room once more. Really heā€™d only pared her because he did not need the shortage in staff. Alexander was no a compassionate man, nor was he the type to give second chances, but luckily for Sarai, he had not brought all that many servants. He paused briefly inside the room before it dawned on him that she was of course in the bathroom, but the water seemed to be running, so he politely knocked on the door. ā€œSimone,ā€ He spoke gently, his tone completely different from the one he had taken with the servant, ā€œthe kitchen is waiting.ā€

Sarai nodded uncomfortably when Alexander ordered her to bring the ruined closed to the royal advisor. The prospect of encountering Nebellia was almost more intimidating than dealing with the King. The more she spoke, the more the meek servant realized this was only the second time he had ever directly spoken to her one on one. This coincidental assignment of caring for his human was exactly that. Many of the other staff felt that she lacked the experience and understanding to do it. Her previous tending to humans had been to prepare them to die, never to keep them alive. As she spoke she wondered why the king himself was holding out on this one. The girl was tortured and feisty. Nothing about the redhead was simple. Sarai had never met a more demanding human in her position at the court and only one thing explained it: she was of Earth, not Cruorem Orbis. It would be a pleasure to introduce her to her place, though it appeared she was learning.

As she proceeded to try and explain herself, to justify the realities of the humanā€™s condition with her efforts, Sarai watched the king closely for any response. His discontent seemed to grow, his eyes darkening, his lips unmoving, his stature all the more imposing. It reminded her of her initial job at the court, shortly after she had been turned. Unlike many in the court, she had not been born a vampire. Her entire life she had been lowly, though favored by one man who worked as a coordinator of the kings schedule. That had been her saving grace and her inception into the monarchyā€™s court. Initially she had to tend and bath any humans kept on the primary grounds for staff consumption. One hundred years into service she had graduated to preparing humans for bedding, almost all of which died. She was a midwife for a short time, which proved the most challenging. Then, after two centuries of hard word, she had graduated to working as an assistant to one of the kings secretaries, her very own maker, but the man had turned out to be cruel, violent and to a degree sadistic. Sarai didnā€™t deny that her anticipation of the king striking her stemmed from her experiences under Corvin. Luckily for Sarai the man had died in some accident relatively recently. She had never been privy to the details. She had never wanted to know. It was a blessing to not be beaten by her superior anymore for the most menial of mistakes.

ā€œSince you have found yourself unable to handle one measly, human woman, I will take care of it. She is near-ill and she is weak. I tasked you with the duty to look after her and make sure she stayed healthy,ā€ he replied. Sarai swallowed, biting her tongue ot prevent herself from blaming the girl for her own condition. Could that not be the case? It clearly was. No matter what she did she couldnā€™t force her to sleep or keep food down. She had done all she could. The girl was far more civil now wasnā€™t sure? And obedient? Was that not at least somewhat better? Instead of rebutting the king, she nodded. ā€œI feel fairly certain you have not properly obeyed my orders, Sarai,ā€ Alexander added. That comment made her tense. It stung to be told that she had not done as instructed. Did effort not count for anything? She couldnā€™t refute his stance however so she bowed her head to him, shamed. Wonā€™t the laundress be happy to have won her bet that I would be dead by the end of today.

ā€œHowever, I am in a generous mood, so I will let you live ā€“ I will give you one more chance on the condition that you do not disappoint me once more,ā€ Alexander suddenly concluded. Sarai looked up at him rapidly then, gaping and with wide eyes for a split second before composing herself. She sighed, relieved, but still remaining in a shrunken defensive posture in front of him.

ā€œAs for Simone, I do not wish her dead. My plans do not involve her sharing my bed,ā€ he commented. ā€œYes your majesty,ā€ the servant replied lowly. ā€œApologies for my inappropriate questions.ā€ Sarai watched as he sluffed off the incident. When the king turned to the door his demeanor changed. Sarai held it open for him, watching as he strode across the room with purpose and toward the bathroom where the water was running. Simone was out of sight, but that didnā€™t seem to matter. He lightened, it seemed, at the very prospect of seeing the girl. That fact was startling but she knew that it was essential to keep such thoughts to herself.

Letting go of the door the servant collected the bag of stained and bloodied clothing, leaving the vicinity for the mansionā€™s basement where the royal advisor had been roomed. As she approached she saw Brigette, the kingā€™s personal servant, standing alone. As she approached, Sarai bowed her head. While they were both servants, Brigette was the superior. In fact she was to most of them because of her proximity to the king at all times. Sarai had never truly talked to the fellow vampire.

ā€œIs Nebellia within her quarters?ā€ Sarai asked gently, her voice low and lacking the sharpness she felt comfortable using towards Simone. She was the mousy servant they all knew her to be when she was away from the human, mostly because she knew her place was much lower on the food chain than most everyone else and tenuous at best given her lack of formal ties or history with the monarchy. ā€œThe King requested that I bring her these samples, but to insist that she speak with him first before doing anything with them,ā€ she added, unsure of what the girl would say or do. The lack of musing sing song comments from beyond the door ā€“ or any noise of any kind really ā€“ was telling however. Nebellia was likely absent.

The cold water was like salvation, tempering her peaking body temperature while startling her awake. Simone breathed heavily, feeling the nausea return with her anxiety. In her chest her heart beat so fast and so hard that it hurt. The sound of it consumed her attention. Sitting down on the edge of the bathtub she tried to breath slowly to calm herself down. Slowly it proved more comforting to let her knees bend and to slide to sit on the floor. Pressing her cheek into the outside of the porcelain tub was refreshing. Holding the icy and wet cloth to the back of her neck helped as well. Zoning out entirely, she felt herself rapidly dozing, her eyes fluttering as sleep overtook her. As quickly as she was asleep she was awake. A knock on the bathroom door proved startling and Simone inhaled sharply, sitting upright only to smack her head into the vanity beside her. Wincing, she withheld her need to curse and moved to stand.

ā€œSimone,ā€ Alexander inquired. ā€œThe kitchen is waiting.ā€

Pinching the bridge of her nose, she felt the moment of peace slip away. Shakily she shut the water off. Throwing the wet cloth into a laundry basket she moved slowly to open the door. For as much as she anticipated Alexander behind it, he still surprised her. Moreover seeing him was exciting to her and she smiled lowly for a moment before wrapping her arms around her chest and averting her gaze to the floor.

Following him back into her bedroom, Simone paused at her nightstand to sip from a glass of water. Tilting her head back she sighed. The silence between them was interrupted by a sharp growl from her stomach, she straightened immediately, blushing and biting the inside of her cheek before glancing over at him, sure to find him amused. The exhaustion she felt still made her want to just climb into bed, to beckon him to join her. She didnā€™t know why but Simone felt that if she laid there with him holding her, she just might sleep soundly. It seemed unthinkable. He was the reason she felt this way, that her body was suffering chronic blood loss and the fear and the insomnia. Everything was his doing. Yet her physical response to him now was changing. If he wasnā€™t in the room she was afraid. When he was it wasā€¦different. And so inappropriate. The war continued.

Swallowing, she moved silently to follow him to the door. Keeping her arms wrapped around her chest and her head low she walked with him. Simone had stopped trying to memorize the hallways. She walked slightly behind him, her gaze directed towards his sculpted back. Her eyes danced over his defined shoulders and for a moment she caught herself nearly drooling. That was quickly corrected when suddenly they crossed the main lobby. The door to the house was visible then, the grand windows covered by curtains and obscuring the outside. Simone stopped walking. A window overlooking the mansionā€™s portico, however, was uncovered. The redhead found herself standing in a patch of fading sunlight. It was almost evening again. But the light, she craved it. The sun felt warm on her hands for a split second and she smiled while it remained on her. When it faded she exhaled lowly, turning back to look at him and to skip the few steps she needed to to catch up to him. Of course, the heels of her boots didnā€™t want to coordinate with her and she tripped in her rush, her knees buckling. Simone reached out to grip him, her hands gripping his closest arm tightly. Still she landed on her knees at his feet, staring at his shoes, her hands gripping his arms. More a moment she was stunned and only slowly did she move to look up at him, her expression surprised. ā€œApparently even fate wants me at your feet,ā€ she commented sarcastically.

Alexander didnā€™t bother even answering Sarai when she apologized. The words were redundant since he had already spared her, and either way they would never help any. Alexander heard so many apologies every day heā€™d become more or less immune to them; they mattered for naught. They were rarely genuine; people spoke them too much without sincerity to them, simply because they thought them to be helpful to get themselves out of a scrap. Alexander himself was not one for apologies. He did not speak them if he did not mean every single word, and even them, to be honest, the words rarely ever left him. Perhaps because he rarely regretted his actions. There was no point in fretting over mistakes made in the past. Besides, everything usually ended up working out either way.

As such, the king ignored the servantā€™s presence as he made it into Simoneā€™s bedroom and on to the bathroom door. When she did not reply, he sighed. He did hear the water shut off on the other side, and some scurrying about, but she did not speak. If she did not emerge soon, he would go in regardless, permitted or not. It was, after all, still his house, and he could technically do as he pleased. He didnā€™t even know why he wasnā€™t simply doing that; taking what he wanted and not caring more about it. Curious little human she was.

Finally the door opened and she slowly made her way outside the bathroom. His lips quirked ever so slightly into a ghost of a smile. She was so paleā€¦ so fragile. And to think Sarai thought he would bed her in this state. The mere thought was repelling. He would snap her like a twig in no time. Besides, she simply wasnā€™t at her best when it came to appearances either, even if he did quite like that dress on her. Even her hair lacked its usual glow. Well, hopefully some ā€œreal foodā€ would do her good. If it didnā€™t, Alexander had no clue how to make her better.

Her eyes, however, had this littleā€¦ spark in them when she briefly looked at him before averting her gaze like all the other submissive servants and slaves. Not sure what to say really, Alexander chose to stay quiet as he began walking, but he paused when he heard her stopping to drink. He glanced back at her, noting the sigh. Was he that terrible to be around? Hah, no, of course not. He wasnā€™t a terrible person until he wanted to be. His thought trail stopped immediately when he heard her stomach growling, narrowing his eyes slightly. If he hadnā€™t already told the servant he would spare her, now would have been the perfect time to punish her for the malnourishment of his most favoured human.

He didnā€™t like the sound. It meant she needed food and reminded him once more ā€“ as if he needed more reminders ā€“ of the fact that she was starving under his roof. He should have put someone else in charge of her care. Brigitte wouldā€™ve forced the food down the humanā€™s throat if that was what it took to obey her orders, she would have sought alternative solutions when she discovered that Simone would not sleep properly and that she could not keep the food down. Alexander was not above using magic to solve his problems, but he figured the least Sarai could have done was request medication. Sleeping teas, herbs to calm her stomachā€¦ whatever worked. After all, they had developed quite a few things such as these to keep their humans alive and well.

Then again, he had a feeling he should be blaming himself. That could wait, however, because right now blaming the servant worked so much better and it kept his head clear in spite of the way he seemed to worry about this frail being constantly. He still said nothing though. She did not believe that her wellbeing mattered to him, and words would not convince her. Actions would. Not that he cared what she thought of him. Of course not. Not one bit. Why should he? He was the kingā€¦ he didnā€™t care. Nope. She was simply a lowly earth human and she didnā€™t matter one lick except for her blood. Preciselyā€¦ nothing but food, she was. And he never cared about his food, so of course thisā€¦ worry he was experiencing had to be no more than a side effect from her abnormally delicious blood.

The second Simone put down the glass, Alexander resumed his walking, deciding that instant that he was not stopping for her again. Why had he even done it in the first place? Stupid human didnā€™t know to follow him of course. She was used to all this odd ā€œequalityā€ where people walked side by side and waited for each other in spite of rank. He needed to impress upon her the importance of their hierarchy. It was the foundation on which their entire society rested and this consideration to her wants and needs was far below him.

As they walked, the eyes scouring his back werenā€™t lost on him, despite the fact that he did not once turn to look at her. Instead a smirk formed on his lips. Funny how this usually happened. No matter the cruelty he would display towards humans in the beginning, they could never deny their attraction towards him, only this time the attraction wasnā€™t entirely one sided. He wasnā€™t blind after all; he had taken note of the urge to kiss her previously. He just didnā€™t want to contemplate it too much at current. There would be time for that later.

When they reached the main entrance Simone stopped. Alexander glanced backwards briefly, noticing the way she seemed entranced by the sunlight, before shaking his head. He turned around and kept moving, knowing that she would follow once she realized he had not waited for her. He had never understood the allure sunlight had. Then again, heā€™d been born a vampire so he had only been able to endure it with age. To him sunlight was nothing but a weakness; a disadvantage during war times. His kingdom was vulnerable during these lightened hours, and both Lykae and Demon-folk damn well knew it. Demons drew power from the sun, just like the Lykae drew from the full moon, and Vampires did from great amounts of blood.

Sure, older vampires could withstand exposure to the sun for several hours without feeling it, but many of the ā€œsheepā€ in his army, were too young. As such, the sun to him had always been a reviled adversary. His ears perked for a moment as he picked up on Simone trying to catch up with him. He slowed down his walk only slightly, but before she reached him fully, she tripped over her own feet. Alexander turned around just as she tumbled to her knees before him. Of course he could have caught her, but what was the fun in that? He smiled wryly as he looked down at her. His eyes strayed briefly to her hands still gripping his arm before landing on her face once more, the amusement in his eyes saying all that he didnā€™t.

She was looking down at his shoes, stunned by her fall apparently. Humans really did have such a short response time and more often than not they took forever making decisions or getting over a simple fall. It wasnā€™t like sheā€™d fallen flat on her face, so he didnā€™t see what the surprise was about. She was a human; she had to be used to stumbling around. When she spoke though, finally looking up at him, Alexander chuckled, the sound deep and husky, but filled with genuine amusement. Oh, he was enjoying this quite a bit. She looked good that way. He eyes had a fire in them right now, yet she was in a submissive position; it was a lovely mixture, really.

ā€œI cannot blame her. It is a good look for you,ā€ he teased, raising an eyebrow as reached down to tip up her chin just a little further. He smirked, the curving of his lips displaying faint notions of predatory amusement, yet the charming exterior gave it that special allure so many women found themselves drawn to. ā€œI rather like you this way,ā€ he noted, his tone deep and intense, the playfulness almost entirely gone as his green eyes became just a little darker, ā€œperhaps you should make a habit of it.ā€ Okay, so he liked his women submissive. This one had a heat in her cheeks and her eyes in this position. Perhaps from embarrassment ā€“ he wasnā€™t sure ā€“ but that did not matter, because his main concern was the fact that it stirred something carnal in him.

She looked absolutelyā€¦ well, to use a human expressionā€¦ hot. He couldnā€™t remember ever having a woman look this sexy to himā€¦ this alluring. He couldnā€™t though. She would die, and he wouldnā€™t have that. He kept watching her for a little while, eyes intensely focused on every minute detail. The way her chest rose and fell with her every breath, the way her hands shivered just a littleā€¦ even that special way her eyes glinted in this light. Then, however, he managed to shake himself out of it, and he reached out, wrapping an arm around her as he moved her forcefully into a standing position.

As he did, he spoke off-handedly, his tone suddenly back to normal, ā€œNo matter, though. You need food.ā€ Then he easily guided her into the kitchen, his arm still firmly around her; couldnā€™t have her falling again after all. He had been much too tempted to forget about her nourishment for a while back there, but fortunately his infamous control had come to him. The room they entered was grand and modern ā€“ it was the only place they had recently had redone and only because it was a room used rather often. It most likely held all sheā€™d need, although he honestly didnā€™t know; he had no clue how to cook and he didnā€™t have an interest in learning either. Why should he?

He let go of her then, looking down at her to take note of every expression ā€“ every reaction and that was exactly when another scent intruded on his senses; Nebellia's. Well... he supposed this meeting was inevitable, wasn't it? It would happen sooner or later, so perhaps now was not too bad a time for it. At least he was there to make sure his adviser didn't step out of bounds, although he figured it would be at least a little while til she did so again. After all, her "toys" had only just been returned to her after last time.

Brigitte now had Nebellia's door memorized. Each curve and slant of the wood grains, the dull shine of the door handle, the dark stains near the bottom, all of it completely memorized. That was how long she'd been staring at it. Though accustomed to His Highness punishing her for mistakes in a multitude of ways she did have to say that this way was maybe the most gratifying and worst of them all. The week she once spent in the dungeon didn't compare to what she could only describe as utter boredom. It was a startling sensation at first for her then it passed and now she could only continue tracing the door grains with her eyes. Two weeks now it was, and the silent vampire had come to regard the door as a mentor of sorts. It did not speak, it did not move, it did its job and did it to its maximum capability. This door was far superior a servant than Brigitte could hope to be and so as the hours had passed she'd begun to imagine herself as the door, hoping to push away the annoying feeling of her boredom. So in tune was she with this door that upon its opening and releasing of Nebellia she had only swayed her body along with it, opening and closing.

Now her orders had been to make sure Nebellia stayed in her room for the two weeks she was grounded. On the occasion Nebellia would have to leave her room to retrieve something in which case Brigitte was to follow her and make sure she returned promptly. These were the few and fleeting moments in which Brigitte was not a door. Now, with Nebellia leaving in such a fashion Brigitte could only assume the grounding was over. Though she should report at once to His Highness her mentality was still so akin to the door that it was hard for her to move her body in a non-door like fashion. Thus it was in the midst of a deep mental struggle that Sarai caught her.

ā€œIs Nebellia within her quarters?ā€ The mouse of a servant asked. Brigitte slowly moved her eyes up to the face where the words emitted from and blinked. She really should move. An inch at the least. Her finger twitched. There, she thought to herself. People twitch. Doors don't. Another finger twitched, and then she was able to fully turn and face Sarai. Back to her normal state of mind she was better able to focus on what the other servant was saying. ā€œThe King requested that I bring her these samples, but to insist that she speak with him first before doing anything with them.ā€ Brigitte glanced down the clothes Sarai held and briefly considered what should be done with them. No one actually ever entered the lab. One always knocked on the door (sometimes for quite a spell of time) and waited for Nebellia to come out. This was a bit of a pickle. The bloodied clothes were seemingly important and without Nebellia there to open the door...Brigitte wracked her mind to see if she Nebellia had mentioned where she was going but she did not recall a single vocal interaction between the two. There was only one option it seemed.

Brigitte grabbed the girl by the shoulder and took a deep breath in. She easily latched onto Nebellia's scent and began heading in that direction, dragging Sarai with her. Though she would have preferred to just take the clothes herself it was not her job. So she would bring her to Nebellia and then head off to His Highness. This would not only make sure that Nebellia was officially un-grounded but it would also make certain that Sarai's order was carried out efficiently. Although Brigitte always put her own orders first, there was nothing that bothered her like knowing that the other servants weren't carrying out their duties as optimally as they could. It was her belief that if His Highness told you to do something, you did it to your very best. He would not assign people tasks they could not handle...Brigitte paused in her pursuit and looked back at Sarai. This servant girl, though easily forgettable due to her nature, had been handed the task of caring for the human named Simone who His Highness had brought back. Brigitte's eyes narrowed slightly and a sour taste began to fill her mouth. Perhaps this girl was out delivering these clothes because she had not done her original task correctly. The very thought alone made Brigitte dig her nails into Sarai's shoulder and she began dragging her along again, this time her steps more brisk.

Her nose was telling her that Nebellia had gone to the kitchen. She took Sarai and practically shoved her towards the doors, ready to get on with her own personal business. As her hand left the servant girls shoulder she froze. Ah, His Highness was here...wait...with the human? Brigitte tilted her head to the side, rather perplexed at the situation. His Highness was in the Kitchen, a place he never went, with a human and...Nebellia. The situation really almost caused her to frown, though her lips chose to purse slightly instead. Under these circumstances she decided it would be best if she waited outside for him to conduct whatever business he had in there...though...Brigitte shot a "Go on" glare at Sarai. She was still rather disgusted due to the fact the the girl could very well have not done her job right but Brigitte would make sure she would do good on this one.

The very fact that he was amused irritated her. Simone was not the clumsy type, but having been as sick as she had been that morning and now as hungry as she was, walking in heeled boots was no small feat. As she looked up at him, she felt the humiliation rapidly turn into frustration ā€“ with him, with this ridiculous outfit and moreover with the entire situation.

ā€œI cannot blame her. It is a good look for you,ā€
he teased. Simone huffed, clenching her teeth together as he raised an eyebrow and moved his hand to tip her chin with his index finger. It was an odd gesture he continued to do. No matter his response or fixating presence, Alexander always had to force Simone to look up at him directly. She swallowed as he smirked. Her hands dropped to her sides clenched in fists, ready to push herself up off the floor.

ā€œI rather like you this way,ā€ he noted. The groveling tone of his voice made her stop. Simone gasped involuntarily, the husky quality of his voice catching her off guard. It was a dark and suggestive comment to her that was both exhilarating and discomforting. The hair on the back of her neck stood on end. ā€œPerhaps you should make a habit of it,ā€ he added. "Never," she muttered in reply. Simone felt her breath quicken and she shivered, like a chill ripped through her or some invisible figure had drawn a finger up the length of her spine. The redhead narrowed her eyes as him, clenching her teeth to prevent herself from sassing him, from giving into this game of toying and persuasion that he seemed to now be playing again. But she couldnā€™t deny something deep in the bit of her was there, that was dying of happiness because of this expression of desire on his part, to have him standing over her and ordering her to do something. Few people ever tried to force her to do something and those who did often failed to stop her from doing what she wanted. Except for him.

Simone stared at him and for a moment silence lingered. She was locked into the draw of his eyes, the tension building. Where he touched her was heated again. The feverish feeling returned and her thighs twitched with anticipation. The longer he stared at her, the longer he kept the a physical connection to her, the more the feeling seemed to grow. Her head was swimming in something like endorphins but it was different. It was hazy. The discomfort with him, with what he had done to her, the visions of the horrific feedings, the injuries, it all disappeared. Suddenly it was just so easy to give into the sensual ecstatic feelings he drew out of her simply by being present and keeping one finger drawn under her chin. He was like a drug and the more she had of him, the less she could resist, the less she could think rationally about the evil he was.

Simone blinked twice as Alexander shifted. The moment ended and she gasped when he wrapped an arm around her side and effortlessly pulled her to stand. He pulled her into his hip, forcing her to feet to coordinate themselves. Simone tensed, looking away from him and at a curious staff member walking by with a basket of linens.

ā€œNo matter, though. You need food,ā€ Alexander concluded and suddenly they were moving and Simoneā€™s heels skidded across the floor as he took a faster pace than she was prepared for. She whimpered lowly, the sound more of frustration with herself than him. It was a discontented guttural noise as she tried to coordinate herself with his step and keep track of where they were going. The halls seemed to blend into one another until they turned the corner into a large industrially equipped kitchen. As he let go of her Simone stumbled, only preventing another fall by gripping the counter tightly. Her lips parted in surprise as she took in the full scale of the cooking space in front of her, with nothing but top of the line appliances. The only disconcerting thing was the sheer amount of stainless steel and white tile, making it feel more like a doctorā€™s office if you didnā€™t account for the stove and refrigerator in the corner.

She had no idea where to start. The redhead stepped forward, opening the closest cupboard to her only to find it empty. Pursing her lips she moved to pull open a drawer, finding it filled with pots and pans of various sizes. Wouldnā€™t it be nice to wallop him over the head with one of these? she thought to herself as she picked a heavy weight cast iron skillet out of the mix and set it on the stove. It was right about then that another vampire entered the room. Simone stopped dead in her tracks, staring at the woman with tight lips and tense shoulders. She appearedā€¦strange, her purple hair cut to a short pixie cut, her outfit appearing to be more of a costume period dress than anything current. The woman hummed as well, noise that broke the silence of the kitchen.

Before Simone could even react to that Sarai was suddenly shoved into the room through a side entrance, another vampire girl with pale blue hair pushing her with one hand dug into the servantā€™s shoulder. Sarai hissed when she was finally forced towards Nebellia, wincing at Brigetteā€™s infliction and startled to see the king and girl she had been so happy to be temporarily free of back in the same room. Sarai looked at Simone directly, her eyes not pleading but gauging what was to come. Simone stepped back towards Alexander, her hand reaching to grip the handle of her skillet tightly, defensively, as if the thing could vanquish the creatures in the room. All at once Simone felt threatened and the sound of her heart in her ears only made it worse.

Sarai stepped towards Nebellia awkwardly, her head low again and avoiding eye contact. "Miss Nebellia, the king instructed me to bring these samples to you but to inform you to speak with him first before doing anything," she explained simply, her voice low but not so quiet as to be non-existent. It certainly lacked the sharp authoritative quality she used when addressing Simone directly. It spoke volumes. Sarai knew her place in the room and she was the lowest and youngest. Her mistakes with the human made her feel even more insignificant than the girl herself. She simply wanted to do her job and leave.

Alexander did his best to ignore the odd pinch in his stomach when Simone stumbled again, and instead managed to simply look at her, raising an eyebrow. This really was starting to become a problem, wasnā€™t it? The king crossed muscular arms over his chest to keep his hands away from her; she was supposed to cook. He couldnā€™t go around distracting herā€¦ or himself. He really, really needed not to distract himself. Funny how his bloodlust was so under control with her, yet most everything else was not. He wasnā€™t quite sure which was worse, but he was pretty sure the slaves were rather grateful their king would not be eating and killing one of them on a daily basis.

So he chose to focus on her face and the reactions the kitchen elicited. Ah, he couldnā€™t quite discern whether she was surprised or impressed. Perhaps a mixture of both. Green eyes danced over the redhead human, focused on her in that certain way heā€™d found himself often falling into around this human. Why on earth was she so captivating? Was it the hair? Heā€™d always had a thing for true redheads. Not gingers, but redheads. Are, but they were such rarities, and Simone apparently set herself apart even more. Everything she was, everything she made him think of and doā€¦ were abnormal. So out of the ordinary that he felt certain she was not fully human.

As she started searching the kitchen forā€¦ whatever she needed, Alexander let himself focus instead of the scent of his odd little adviser. She was close ā€“ her humming, a very distinguishable sound, was starting to get a little too loud for his liking. She had her own way of doing pretty much everything, which made her more than easy to recognize, but he really did dislike her humming. It wasnā€™t beautiful or melodic. It was jumbled and chaotic, everything Alexander attempted to rid himself of. As his eyes slid over Simone, watching her looking at a skillet with a ratherā€¦ funny look, he smiled wryly. ā€œDonā€™t get any ideas,ā€ he told her playfully, inclining his head towards the cooking device.

Aaandā€¦ there she was. Alexander didnā€™t show her the courtesy of turning around. Instead, his eyes remained on Simone. She was not here for him. He could tell that much from the lack of the scent of that bag Sarai was supposed to hand her. However, as he felt her gaze, he sighed and turned to raise an eyebrow at her. Her eyes had turned to Simone, still why humming that destructive tune. Oh he knew that smileā€¦ and he knew that look. ā€œNebellia,ā€ he warned subtly. Simone was not a human she was allowed to play with. Perhaps he shouldā€™ve talked to his curious adviser while heā€™d had her on house arrest, but it had simply been too satisfying to see her pout and sulk.

Oh, Alexander cared plenty for his dear Nebby, but their relationship was a complicated one not easily discerned and interpreted. Perhaps because they were complicated people, who, in spite of how things may look, understood each other surprisingly well. Right now, however, that incessant humming was getting on his nerves. He could practically feel Simone tensing a little behind him. Of course he couldnā€™t blame him. Even his guards feared Nebellia. She just hadā€¦ a certain something. Perhaps the air of insanity was what made people so unsure, but regardless she was oftentimes a lot more intentional in her endeavors than people gave her credit for. Hell, sometimes it even took Alexander a little while to figure it out.

He wouldā€™ve said something then, except he knew Sarai and Brigitte would be joining them in a second andā€¦ yep, there they were. Great. Now all they needed was Bowman and Alanya and it would be a most joyous gathering. He noticed Simone moving towards him, clenching the skillet in her hand, but more so than see it, Alexander smelled her fear. And for some reason, he didnā€™t like itā€¦ which was weird, because fear, just like sexual climax, had a tendency to make blood sweeter. As if wishing to reassure her that she was safe, Alexander snaked an arm around her waist, gently drawing her closer to his side.

But he sighed, closing his eyes as he pinched the bridge of his nose the second Sarai spoke. Oh, but at least Nebellia stopped the awful humming. Small favors, small favors indeed. As Nebbs examined the contents of the bag given to her, Alexanderā€™s once more hard, cold gaze fell on the small, lowly servant. ā€œSarai, you may follow Brigitteā€™s example.ā€ He said coolly, dismissing her. Then his eyes easily moved to Brigitte, his tone of voice changing to a much softer one. ā€œSweetheart, I believe Sarai could use some educating. Make sure she gets it; Iā€™m afraid she has not been all I had hoped for.ā€ He told her casually. Sarai had fine control of her blood lust, and Alexander appreciated that, so he did want her to keep serving Simone. But at the same time, she needed to be put in her proper place, and Brigitte would do that just fine.

Ah, Nebellia seemed rather pleased with the leftover samples sheā€™d quickly determined them to be. But of course heā€™d known sheā€™d be. He couldnā€™t help a wry smile as his adviser spoke, twirling happily as she gracefully moved into a curtsy. ā€œThis is not us making up, Nebby,ā€ he told her casually, the use of her nickname telling her that he was no longer angry with her. She was always Nebellia when he was angry or irritated with her, Nebby when he thought her to be cute or when he simply felt in a good mood. Nebbs was rarely used to address her when it came to Alexander. He preferred Nebby. It had a better ring to it, perhaps. ā€œYouā€™ve been given these because I need you to have them.ā€ He told her this pointedly, but of course that would not prevent her from thinking of it as a present, becauseā€¦ well, such were the ways of his dear adviser.

Another sigh escaped him the second he was Nebellia notice the skillet in Simoneā€™s hand. Oh, lovely. As much as he didnā€™t know exactly what she would do, he knew sheā€™d do something and that someone wouldnā€™t like it. Both his eyebrows shot up when he witnessed her grabbing it with her teeth only to place it atop Saraiā€™s head. Then he chuckled. If nothing else, Nebby certainly did have the ability to amuse him. She cleared her throat theatrically and he smiled wryly as she winked at him. Oh yes, she was playing around. Good. That meant Simone was safe a little while yet until he could speak with his adviser. Which would be soon. Perhaps he should leave Brigitte and Sarai here with Simone. Sarai could learn. Yes. She should learn.

When his adviser spoke again, he cast her another dry smile and motioned for her to follow him as he glanced at the servants. ā€œYou two stay here. Make sure Simone has everything she needs to cook herself a proper meal. You have your orders.ā€ Of course by that he was referring to Sarai learning from Brigitte. Hopefully theyā€™d put that together. If they didnā€™t, he needed new servants.

As he made it outside the kitchen, he stopped in the main hall, waiting for his adviser before he looked at her and spoke. ā€œI want you to replicate her blood, if possible. Humans do not live forever, and her blood isā€¦ almost magical. I canā€™t have it disappear once she dies of old ageā€¦ or self inflicted damages.ā€ He paused briefly before looking at her in a more concentrated manner. ā€œAh, and Simone herself ; the humanā€¦ sheā€™s off limits. You are not to touch her, nor to be responsible for any kind of harm done to her.ā€

Simone didnā€™t know where to look. The purple haired woman stared at her and the redhead watched the woman take her in head to toe. The look in her eyes was unsettling, and all too alike the lions at the zoo when they were hungry. ā€œNebellia,ā€ Alexander said lowly, his voice rebuking and warning the woman of something she shouldn't do. Simone looked from the king to the purple haired woman, unsure of the word. He said it like one would say a name but it sounded so foreign and strange. Unnatural. Simone shifted, feeling her kidnapper wrap a hand around her waist protectively. His touch lacked the heat from earlier. Instead his hand sat cold on her hip, holding her in a place she didnā€™t want to be. The appearance of others reminded her that she was not alone in this house, that more than just Alexander and Sarai were complicit in keeping her there. The danger she felt from all of them, from what they were, it made her feel like she had been thrown into a cave with five starving lions that she couldnā€™t tame.

Sarai stumbled with her words, suddenly another person entirely as she was shoved forward and forced to present a bag filled with something to the woman. Simone watched her, astounded by the sheer difference in the servantā€™s demeanor. She appeared small and her voice was completely devoid of the sharp authority she had come to know in the past 14 days. The other vampire behind her with the pale blue hair looked nonplussed with the entire situation. ā€œSarai, you may follow Brigitteā€™s example,ā€ Alexander ordered. Simone didnā€™t like his tone, nor the fact that he was ordered her servant to be so like this other behind her, the one who had forced her into the kitchen so brutally. ā€œSweetheart, I believe Sarai could use some educating. Make sure she gets it; Iā€™m afraid she has not been all I had hoped for,ā€ Alexander added, directing his words to the blue haired girl. Simone shifted beside him, discontent with his rebuking. Sarai had held her hair the past few mornings, wiped her mouth when sheā€™d finished hurling her anxious guts into the bathroom toilet. She had done all she could short of doping her up, offered teas and made her sit and eat or read or something. She had certainly tried. Simone didnā€™t like that she was suddenly to blame for something. Even though she had hated every minute of the girl following her, watching her every move, she felt like she owed her something. She certainly had been good to her, and Simone knew she had not made the girlā€™s life easy. No. Alexander was to blame for her state. Even then her stomach was rolling, the anxiety rising as her heart fluttered. Simone felt her hands grow sweaty and she wanted out of this tense room.

It was only when the purple haired woman pulled out the black fabric of her shirt that Simone realized her personal clothes were being handed over. She gasped as the woman brought the black cotton to her face, burying her nose in it happily. Simone tensed when the womanā€™s gaze flitted back over to her, lit up like a Christmas tree.

"This is a rather unexpected pleasantry,ā€ she laughed. Simoneā€™s upper lip twitched with the sound, her hand tightening defensively on the handle of the skillet. "A rather odd way to have one of our make-up interactions, Your Majesty," she added, spinning on her heel to sudden curtsy low to Alexander. ā€œThis is not us making up, Nebby,ā€ he replied lowly. Ah, so Nebellia was her name. ā€œYouā€™ve been given these because I need you to have them,ā€ he explained. Simone looked at the bag of clothes angrily, her eyes narrowing. Her fear was blistering, but something else was there again. Anger. He was giving away the only tangible remnants that she had of her freedom to some psychotic bitch who wouldnā€™t stop laughing, who seemed all too amused with this sitation, who stared at her like she was something to own. Simone wanted to hurt him then. She wanted him to know that she felt like he had taken something from her, something so valuable. Her freedom. Her sanity. This state she had been in, this complacency, the teasing, the desire, he was making her feel it all. It needed to stop. He was a disease that couldnā€™t be given into. She wanted out.

Unknowingly she had begun to swing the skillet slightly. Nebellia shifted then and Simone gasped, watching the woman suddenly crouch down, her head twisting as her jaw extended with fangs in sight. Her teeth clamped down on the metal of the pan and ripped it from her hands like a dog, standing with it in her mouth beaming. Simone stared at her aghast, her free hand lingering in the air in a fist for a second as Nebellia stepped back and turned to Sarai, dropping the skillet on the girlā€™s head. Simone glared at the woman, intermittently watching Sarai close her eyes and exhale deeply, humiliation flooding her face as she stood stock still so as not to disturb the thing on her head. Alexander chuckled lowly and Simone shifted, her left elbow jutting sharply into his side. She didnā€™t know he felt anything, and she doubted her did, but it was her way of telling him to shut the fuck up. The entire display was worse than playground bullying.

"Well! Now that the scary skillet has been taken care of~ Dearest Lexi-Pop," Nebellia purred, "How did you know I was looking for samples? Such a thoughtful present you've given me. Was there anything you wanted me to do with it?"

ā€œYou two stay here. Make sure Simone has everything she needs to cook herself a proper meal. You have your orders,ā€ Alexander replied, moving to release Simone. She watched him by looking over her shoulder, her hands gripping the counter though her anger had given her the energy to stand on her own. The king exited through a set of doors, motioning for Nebellia to follow. All at once the room fell silent and Simone turned to look at Sarai and the other. Sarai shifted her shoulders and tilted her head, taking the skillet into her hands before walking over next to her.

ā€œWhat is it you intended to make?ā€ she asked lowly. Simone watched Sarai glance back at the blue haired girl while she spoke. ā€œIā€™m sorry to have caused you trouble,ā€ Simone whispered lowly, stepping away from the shorter blond servant to open another set of cupboards. She was confronted with sack upon sack of steel cut oats, a select few bottles of spices set into the corner. Opening another set had her exposed to several tubs of vitamins and enhancers. This was clearly a kitchen meant for feeding the simplest of meals to mass amounts of people. ā€œWhat is it you intended to make?ā€ Sarai asked again, moving suddenly to touch Simoneā€™s hand as she tried to open another set of cupboard doors.

Simone tore her hand away from the servant, watching Saraiā€™s eyes grow defiant. ā€œWhat is it you want to cook Simone?ā€ she demanded a third time colloquially, her eyebrow raising and her chin lowering as if to say this was the last time she would be asking. The redhead glared back. ā€œSome chicken or something I donā€™t know,ā€ she answered grudgingly. ā€œYouā€™ll keep your fucking hands out of it though. You cook shit for food.ā€

ā€œExcuse me?ā€ Sarai rebutted, as if offended. ā€œYes, you do. It tastes like cardboard every single time,ā€ Simone elaborated, walking past the blond to the large double door fridge. ā€œDonā€™t!ā€ Sarai warned. It was too late, however. There was a reason Nebellia had been heading to the kitchens. As she opened the fridge Simone was confronted with blood. Not in bags as she would have expected, but vials and test tubes of it, and other substances in racks. All of them were labeled, all of them collected it appeared within the past week. Sarai slammed the doors shut and forced her away. ā€œWhat the hell do you do here?ā€ Simone sputtered. Sarai shook her head, sighing as she almost always did. Her lack of answer did her no good. Simone could feel her blood boiling, her horror and fear fueling her growing hatred for all that they were, for what they were doing, for the humans who walked around and gave themselves over so willingly. She didnā€™t know what she was doing then as she reached for the butcherā€™s block closest to the fridge and withdrew the knife with the biggest handle.

Sarai growled at the girl, watching her eyes lock in on the set of knives. She snatched up a cleaver without even hesitating. Sarai moved quickly, grabbing the human's wrist tightly and squeezing her fingers, forcing her to let it go. She shoved her into the counter, forcing Simone's back to Sarai's chest in an instant so that the servant could reach her ear. "We are vampires Simone. Clean blood is essential. Your food is kept in a separate fridge. Now cooperate and don't be stupid, these halls are crawling with guards who would leap at the chance to bleed you dry if your blood was exposed by something like this knife."

Slamming the cleaver into the cupboard to prove a point, Sarai stepped away and rolled her shoulders, moving stiffly to open a smaller bar sized fridge underneath one of the cupboards, exposing a wide array of vegetables and meats not kept elsewhere. Yanking out a package of boneless skinless chicken breast, the servant tossed it at the human girl who remained stunned. Simone fumbled with the meat, scanning the label before looking back at the cleaver dug into the counter top to the hilt of its handle.

"Cook woman. I'm sure if the king knows of your threats to stab yourself with that knife you won't be here again," Sarai mentioned coldly. Stupid child. Though she had to admit, the fight in the girl's eyes was something she hadn't seen since the first day, not to this degree, not in this feisty way. The blond looked back at Brigitte, unsure of what the girl would say about the display, about her tactics, about everything.

Ohh, this one had a lot of energy, didn't she~? Nebellia didn't even bat an eyelash at the girl who was glaring at her so firmly. How utterly adorable! Why couldn't she find playmates like this again? Ah yes, that was right, she wasn't like Danny-Pants, who literally walked around with his tail on the front end rather than the back and wagged it for all the girls to see. Sure, the method was effective to a degree but it was rather crude and she was a scientist~ Lexi-Pop's approaches were much more forwards but seductive in turn, and she honestly just couldn't see the appeal of... slowly reeling in the catch. Once it was gotten, however... Yes, a nice, long drawn-out playing session was much fun indeed.

She drew her mind away from her experiments, eyes following after Lexi-Pop as he ordered the two servants to stay. She smiled overly widely at the trio standing in the kitchen before sauntering after the king. He led them out to the main hall, a fair distance from the kitchen and away from any potential eavesdroppers. Not that many would want to get in close proximity with Nebellia anyway--everyone remembered the incident just several months ago when one of the guards had stumbled a bit too close to her lab. The fumbling idjit had tried to enter and set off one of her many traps. He had been lucky only his eyes had been gouged out~

She chortled at the memory, staring up at Lexi-Pop with her wide eyes happily. Mmm~ He could deny the present all he liked but things like this happened far too often after they had spats. She'd always get something nice from him one way or another afterwards. His gaze was firm, however, as if to tell her playtime was over for the moment. She released a sigh, closing her eyes briefly. As always, the shift was very apparent--her eyes lost their obsessive glean, mouth relaxing into a more neutral position. Her internalized changes of mental stability confounded most but Alexander was experienced enough not to even bat an eyelash when it happened.

ā€œI want you to replicate her blood, if possible. Humans do not live forever, and her blood isā€¦ almost magical. I canā€™t have it disappear once she dies of old ageā€¦ or self inflicted damages.ā€ There was a pause as his eyes narrowed, regarded her more carefully. Nebellia dropped the bag from in front of her, holding it loosely in her hand as she stared back.

ā€œAh, and Simone herself ; the humanā€¦ sheā€™s off limits. You are not to touch her, nor to be responsible for any kind of harm done to her." The scientist let the briefest of frowns flit across her face as she nodded her head in consent to his wishes.

"The replication process should be simple enough--her blood compound shouldn't be that difficult to break down. As for this... magical quality you speak of..." She trailed off, reaching into one of the pockets on her dress and pulling out a thin needle along with a mini vial. She had always made it a point to carry odd assortments of things for those "what if" scenarios. She held the objects out gently towards him, gesturing towards his fingers. "I'll need a comparison to see if you are the only one that experiences this phenomenon. Certainly there have been satisfying humans but as for those with blood that seems magical... Hmm, it will make the experiment interesting."

"As for the human... very well, you have my word that she will be safe--at least as far as I am concerned." She handed him the needle and vial, letting her touch linger only long enough to tell him she was only doing this for him. To deny her the chance to toy with such a specimen, she'd only relent because he asked. She dropped her hand to her side, glancing back at the kitchen doors before settling her gaze on Alexander again. She gave him a quick curtsy but the frown had once again returned to her lips.

"The girl is malnourished and her body does not look like it is functioning at its healthy capacity." She was a bit wary to suggest it as mere mentioning would imply that Alexander was not knowledgeable. But it wouldn't do to have the human in that state--the blood on the shirt was old, she could smell it. At least a week or two. That was all well and good, but she would need more blood, more samples. And samples taken from a girl that was in that kind of sickly state would not provide optimal results.

Her tone was careful and politely pitched. "I can give my observation papers to Brigitte or.. the other girl, whoever you feel more comfortable to take care of your human. The servants were not tutored to take care of humans effectively and while I may experiment, keeping my subjects alive is also essential for my work. It may aid in the human receiving better care than she has." She bowed her head respectfully towards Alexander when she finished but still maintained eye contact. Her lips pursed slightly, she was his adviser after all--if things were awry, it was her job to fix them.

Normally, a smirk would've touched on to his face when Sydney relented, processing his offer and (after seemingly battling it mentally), conceded to it with a sigh. Normally. But his anger did not go away as easily as all that, so he only stared at her coldly as she spoke. Her eyes flitted to the ground, voice coming out small as she uttered two words of the utmost humility, given the situation. She thanked him, softly nodding. He let her walk ahead of him a bit as she followed the direction of his gesture, heading out of the entrance. He should cool down, why was he still so discontent with her? She had done as he had suggested, she had fallen into place as he had known she would. But her words were still grating on him in the back of his mind. Garreth wasn't sure precisely why but there was something unsettling about what she had accused him of.

She was just a trivial, human woman--she was ignorant to the ways of the world and none too bright, despite what she might think. So why was this bothering him? He had been called many other things in his life, some names much more horrifying than what she had shot out and, in those cases, had been absolutely true. Her insults were menial, as was her place in the workings of things. He shouldn't let it get to him like this; anger only brought him closer to another part of himself that he would not succumb to. Not here, not now. He was beyond blind rage--he had proven that many many years ago.

With a deep sigh of irritation, he unlocked the car, the two of them sliding into the front seats. He had guessed she would take the front one as she had--she was at least smart enough to put aside her petty ideals for the sake of her sibling. Another trait they had in common. His hand tightened on the steering wheel at this thought, sharply pushing the keys into the slot and turning them so that the car would start.

ā€œWhere are we going?ā€ Her question was plain but quiet. Perhaps she could tell he was annoyed but he was quite certain she had no idea as to what extent he was. If she did, she would've probably fled from the car screaming. It wasn't his getting angry that she would be frightened of, it would be what he would do... what he would turn into.

He shrugged off the uncomfortable image and stepped down on the gas pedal, pulling out of his parking slot. "The club." He answered curtly. He could almost feel her questioning look on him and he regarded her out of the corner of his vision, eyes flashing with a bit of silver. "I'm sure by now you're smart enough to process that the scene we were privy to couldn't have possibly been without witnesses--yet none of the hu... people claimed to have remembered anything." He adjusted himself quickly, careful not to let that particular word slip out. He carried on without paying it much attention, brushing it off as he would most insignificant things.

"We won't be trying to see if anyone remembers that night--but perhaps that owner friend of yours will remember some... unique regulars. That may give us a clue as to what transpired." He explained coolly, keeping his eyes on the road now. While he was certain the parasites would've gotten rid of all evience of their carnage or kidnappings, he was also sure they wouldn't have gone to such lengths to enthrall humans upon every visit. That would rouse too much suspicion. Odds were someone in there would remember one of the parasites--they tended to stand out, especially in dark settings like clubs.

He fell silent as he became absorbed in his thoughts, not speaking again until they reached the front of the club. The sign still had yet to be fixed, he observed briefly. He stepped out of the car, waiting on her before entering the building. Unlike the other night, there was no disgusting scent ot fill his nostrils, only the usual scents that humans carried with them.

"After you," He said, directing Sydney towards the back to where the owner was. As a rule, he didn't like crowded places like this. So the sooner they were able to leave, the better.

Brigitte Lebelle

Brigitte stood with her back pressed firmly against the counter, arms folded over her chest. Her nerves burned slightly and her throat was tight. This was the reaction she always had whenever His Highness addressed her. A slight chill slithered down her spine, though it was impossible to notice due to how well she kept herself composed. When His Highness spoke to her, that was one thing; but when he told her to do something...Brigitte often wondered if this was perhaps the emotion so commonly referred to as ecstasy. When being told what to do, and then accomplishing that order optimally-- now those were the rushes that could cause her to break her otherwise door-like self. Though the latest rush that had run through her after His Highness' newest order was still fading away, Brigitte knew it was important she begin her new task immediately. Sarai and herself were to remain in the kitchen with Simone and aide her in cooking a proper meal.

Although it was such a seemingly simple order the fact that she had no clue as to what constituted as a "proper meal" for a human was throwing a slight curve-ball at her. In the middle of her mulling over this the human woman had opened the fridge that held the mansions most easily accessible blood. And now...there was a clever in the wall. Although Brigitte did not believe that the attitude Sarai was showing was needed in the slightest she figured it would be best to just quell the two down and get everything done. Rolling up the sleeves of her white shirt she moved over towards the two and easily pulled the cleaver out of the cupboard then held it under a sink faucet, running hot water over it to disinfect whatever was on the cupboard doors.

"Cooking?" Brigitte inquired towards Simone, the cleaver now rinsed. This woman wanted to make something with that meat...and this clever seemed to be necessary. "Direct." She lay the clever down by Simone then grabbed an apron from one of the various kitchen draws. The servant couldn't cook but she'd be damned if she didn't know where everything was in this mansion. Making a tight knot around the back of her waist she gave Sarai a chill glare. "Listen. Follow. Done." The mousy servant did not need to be making things worse with her snapping. If her cooking skills were as bad as the woman had said then she was not going to be making any decisions. Although she was still at a loss to what was proper food for a human, if a human was telling one not to cook it then one had better stop.

Brigitte rolled her shoulders back then leaned forward across the counter to Simone. "Cooking. Now." Her words, though noticeably sharp, were as usual said in such a gentle voice that it just about stripped away any feeling of command from it. Thankfully, her face had such a look to it that one could not help but realize how serious she was. It was interesting really, just how many contradictions this ghost of a vampire was full of. Her gaze flickered between the human and the other servant then she pulled herself back into her normal posture and gripped the counter edge slightly. It was time they made this food.
