Description

Appearance: Mary "Munki" Ragell stands at approximately 5 foot tall, possessing a lithe and thin body though obviously athletic in a lean sort of way, looking to be in her early twenties. Her skin is light like a normal plains human though slightly grubby from years in Black Port and her eyes are a wild, energetic green that seem to sparkle with mischievous thoughts. Her long, black hair is braided, beads scattered here and there but otherwise kept free with her long Anubian tail a similar shade, looking as though it belongs on a monkey and not a human. Mary is only Half-Anubian on her father's side and therefore her animal traits are more suppressed, not covered in hair as he was but still host to a number of indicators. Her nose is discernibly ape-like though not entirely in an unattractive manner, on the contrary the girl is quite good looking, and is always sniffing more something, beneath Munki's devious smile her canine teeth are also enlarged but not particularly sharp. Her dexterous, talented fingers are long with sharp nails and her feet are always without shoes, they look more more like hands and are know to function as such. The thief normally wears a baggy, dirty set of formerly white linen shorts and a brown, sleeveless shirt with fraying sown patterns at the bottom with her pants held up a length of cord. Over this she generally has a long but weather beaten buccaneer's coat, a mottled shade of green with bronze buttons and a surprizing amount of hidden pockets inside. She is an excellent and quick climber with great acrobatic skills and can play a mean fiddle, or most other instruments.

Personality

Though without any formal education Mary Ragell is quite intelligent with a relentless wit, making jokes whenever the opportunity arises regardless of how appropriate it is or whom she is speaking to or being accused by at the time. However this thief is cunning like a fox, using her brains to find the best and most clever stratagem to solve a problem though rarely applying this to any 'good' cause. She is friendly and trusting of others though wary of authorities, loving games, tricks and entertaining other people with her talents. Munki is a borderline kleptomaniac, stealing whatever she can, whenever she can which is often being such an opportunist but is not a good fighter but uses her cunning and acrobatics to overcome this. Mary loves the sea, hence why she has decided to turn to piracy, and when she has a spare moment sings and plays songs about it. There are rumors that either she or her instrument, or sometimes both, are imbued with magic due to her skillful playing and is known to favor the greenskin god Haltheris though pays most worship to Dreaous. She isn't fond of killing without reason and has an aversion to eating meat though she will do so if there is no other option.

Munki is no coward but, due to a life of evading the law and deception, her nerves are somewhat highly strung and gets nervous easily when her situation becomes dangerously. When she is afraid or backed into a corner her mannerisms become more monkey or ape like, making incomprehensible simian sounds and impulsive actions.

History

Mary Ragell was born in Black Port, the daughter of a scheming Anubian peddler man and a former acrobat woman, quickly adapting to the crude and crime riddled environment. Her father's shop was set up in a shady part of the town's port, near pirates coming and going to and from pillaging sea-side villages and other ships, finding herself fascinated by them. However, she spent much of her time learning to steal and pickpocket most inventively soon became one of the best, one day taking a fiddle from a man's hand without him noticing. Instead of selling the item, like she normally would have let her father do, she grew quite fond of it and taught herself to play like she had the devil's hands and began to use it to further her thieving abilities. Of course, Munki's taught her all she knew about acrobatics and other entertainments which given her monkey-like nature was swiftly mastered. By the time she was 16 she was the best thief in Black Port, using her music, dance and feats of agility to distract her marks whilst her tail and feet took all they had. Though a proficient sneak the girl found the best place to hide was in plain sight but also simply loved the fun of entertaining people though the sea still called to her.

Unfortunately one day she made the mistake of picking the pocket of a disguised soldier, there to infiltrate the cesspool and stop the pirates there. At first he noticed nothing, enjoying the show as she took everything her had but only minutes after the show he found what Mary had done, realising that it was her he summoned his fellow soldiers and took case after her. Luckily, she was fast and agile, thus able to escape him though he is till scowering the port for her. The town now too dangerous she decided to join the crew of one of the pirating vessels, now attempting to board one by any means necessary.
