Long John Silver pulled himself into a seated position as a voice cried out amongst the several disturbing sea-life sounds.

“The Captain is aloft”

Narrowing his eyes, he tried to get a good look from his standpoint. Even though he towered above many of the crew-members with his quite impressive height, it was still seemingly impossible to get a clear view. Sighing, he decided to slip into the kitchen, pretending to prepare dinner for the crew. Hoisting himself up on the counter, he began slowly peeling a potato, humming an old sailor's song he'd heard years ago. There was no need for him on deck before the Captain had settled in and given her orders. What use would she have of an old, hah, cook? No, appearances were vital, and his place was here.

"aww.. smell that fresh sea air, lad nothing can beat the smell of a royal navy ship.." he smiled, as the two walked up to the ship "well maybe If €I was commentating it..." ((think I spelt that wrong)), He noticed a rather large man standing by them and walked to him. "A hoy, captain I trust all is well?"
"Well indeed but I am not the Captain," then man pointed to a fancy carriage that arrived. "Theres the Captain."

Captain Smollett stepped out of the Carriage, looking up at her ship. everything looks in order she thought as she walked to where the three men had joined each other. "Mr Arrow, as always this ship is right on... can you do nothing wrong?"

"Captain you flatter me..." Mr. Arrow smiled.

Smollett looked to the other two, "and you must be Mr. Sparrow and young Turner, right?"

"Aww right yeah, are you sure your The Captain Andromeda... oh" he smacked his head, "that should have been a warning."

Smollett laughed, "I think I know who I am, but Besides that I would like to take a look over the crew." she said stepping away.

"I don't like her..." Jack uttered, to young Turner...

Smollett's first stop was to check on the cook, "Mr. Silver?" she said walking down the steps... "Long John Silver is it?"

Preparing a simple dinner for the crew was incredibly easy, even if peeling potatoes all day was going to be quite a bore. Nonetheless, it would be worth it as soon as they reached their destination. Silver sighed happily at the thought of Flint's treasure - large heaps of gold, enough to satisfy twenty men for three lifetimes each. His imagination jumped at the thought of what he could do with that treasure on his own.

"Mr. Silver?" A voice called from the stairs. "Long John Silver, is it?"

A younger woman appeared in the stairs as he grabbed a hold of his supporting stick, moving over to get a better view. "Aye, that'd be me, Ma'm. Long John, to friends," Silver did a small bow, complete with a fancy gesture of his arm, pretending to swing a non-existing hat. He had already hidden his captain's uniform in the cabin. Right now, he prefered to wear simple and inconspicious clothing, including an apron to further the impression of him being an experienced cook. "At yer service," he added, smiling brightly at the Captain.

"Yes well Mr. Silver I just wanted to inform you that there will be no Alcohol permitted on this journey..." at least not with the likes of this crew. Although she knew this would not stop the crew from drinking it was start. "Also your cabin boy young Mr. Turner is on the upper deck awaiting your guidance, His fate is in your hands Mr. Silver." She waited for his response.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"No one insults the Captain, sir... she is the most decorated Officer in His Majesty's Navy, despite her age and gender..."

"And yet sevvy, I don't feel the least countable with a Woman Captain... When I hired I was going but recommendations I had no Idea she was a woman." Sparrow looked up at Arrow, "What are you like her trained pet or something?" he asked.

"I am only a friend of her family..." Arrow muttered, "that all... and it's all we hope will be..."

No alcoholic beverages.. This woman is practically asking for a mutiny, Silver thought to himself as he smiled brightly at the Captain. "No alcohol, duly noted, Ma'm," he answered happily.

"Also your cabin boy young Mr. Turner is on the upper deck awaiting your guidance, His fate is in your hands Mr. Silver."

"Aye, I'll get the boy workin', Captain," Silver nodded, before making his way up on deck. A cabin boy was great, however it was very much unplanned, much to Long John's dismay. No matter, he'd keep the boy so busy, he'd be unable to think straight for weeks. Moving with surprising grace over the deck, he soon spotted Turner through the minor ocean of familiar faces.

"Oy, Mr Turner, I believe you have a date with a potato-peeler downstairs," he shouted, grinning at him. "Get a move on, lad, wouldn't want the crew to go hungry, now!" Silver ended, turning around to begin on his way back down.

"Right..." Smollett uttered walking on checking on the rest of the crew, whom she found to be a ruthless band of buffoons. Good God Mr. Sparrow must be an Idiot to hire such a crew. she thought as she headed to the top deck where Mr. Arrow was waiting. "Captain should we weigh anchor?"
"Hold on Mr. Arrow, I need to talk to Sparrow before we lift of."

Sparrow nudged the lad, "Go on I'll be fine." then started to walk away to the front of the deck. "Ahoy sevvys" he said to some of the crew.

"Mr. Sparrow!" The captain called, "I need to see you..."

"Yes mommy..." Sparrow laughed. good on jack good one

Scotty walked across the deck, watching the men around the ship, he saw Jack and yelled, "When are we leaving? This port gives me a bit of the creeps", he sat on one of the barrels on deck, likely gunpowder or rum, he looked at the open sea outside the port with longing, not wanting to be stuck, Jack had promised him treasure on this trip, but surely he needed the experience that Mr. Flint had aswell.

Silver decided not to make much off of it, simply pointing at the barrel of potatoes so that Turner could begin his job. He then began preparing the vegetables. Luckily, it seemed that the goods had not been spared, and even though he had to hide the alcohol, there was no doubt the crew would eat well during their journey. Not that it mattered, Silver would have gladly suffered through six months of oatmeal for the treasure they were heading out for. He heard people shouting on deck, but decided to ignore it, concentrating on his work. As always, appearances. That, and the Captain would never forgive him if the meal was late. "Just keep peelin' those potatoes, lad," he commented to Turner. "If ye have blisters on yer fingers at the end of a hard day o'work, then yer doin' it right."

"Ready the mainsail you misbegotten, flea-ridden curs! We need to sail with the tide and I aim to see that we do!"

Hook looked around at the group of miscreants that he was forced to work with. Pirates the lot of them, if there were a one. Sighing, he shook his head. Yes, he had been working with pirates for most of his life, but this lot was probably the worst he had ever sat eyes on.

Suddenly, movement by the bough caught his attention. Ah, it was the captain and the financier. Hook knew very little about either of them. The captain was Andromeda Smollett, a commissioned captain in the royal navy. She was said to be related to a Duke, though with all the rumors flying about, this was as likely to be fiction as fact. Of the financier, he knew even less. His name was Jack Sparrow, and he had, rumor held, been a notorious pirate at one time. Hook hadn't been in the Caribbean at the time, so he wouldn't know either way.

Looking around, he watched as the crew made ready to sail. There was the midshipman, tying off the main line, and there was the quartermaster, testing the helm. Deckhands swarmed the main deck, doing various jobs. Good, Hook thought, taking a quick count in his head, all present and accounted for... except one.

Making his way down below decks to the galley, Hook looked around. Not there... not there... not... Oh, there he was!

"Greetings, Mr. Silver. Glad to see you're hard at work."

"Soon I hope." Jack muttered to the crewman. "The further away from shore the better... If you ask me..." I'm still wanted by the crown after all.

"Mr. Sparrow!" Smollett walked up from behind him, surprising poor Jack. "What!" he cried trying to sound like she didn't scare him.

"This crew you hired, tell me where did find such whats the word Arrow I said something quite good a little while ago..."

"ruthless band of buffoons, Ma'am" Arrow said in a mono tone voice.

"There poetic and pose..." she moved her head to the man whom Sparrow was talking to. "You get to work, we weigh anchor in half and hour." she said as Arrow called the warning... for all crew to come for roll call before they shove off.

Jack muttered, to himself... "Buffoons my ass,"

((IDK...))

"Greetings, Mr. Silver. Glad to see you're hard at work."

Silver spun around with an elegant smile, greeting the other man with a bow. "An' a good mornin' ta you, my good sir," he grinned. "O'course, somebody's gotta make sure the crew gets their daily fill of," he stared into the pot he had spent the last half hour making, "good, healthy, an' nourishin' stew!" He declared. "As soon as Mr Turner finishes up with those potatoes, that is," he narrowed his eyes slightly in Turner's direction before laughing heartily. "I'm only jokin', me lad. Can I offer ye anythin', sir?" he directed his question at Hook.

"Can I offer ye anythin', sir?"

"No," Hook replied, "That won't be necessary. I was just reassuring myself that we had remembered to get everyone aboard. It would hardly turn out a good voyage if we had left the cook behind."

Walking back up the stairs to the deck, he stopped midways and leaned back down. "We'll be casting off soon, should you want to want to get your last glimpse of land before we head out."

Coming back on deck, he looked about at the deck, once more going over the list of crewmen. Yes, he knew the captain had just called for roll, but though he had heard little of the captain or financier, he HAD heard about Mr. Arrow, a notorious disciplinarian who, as sources said, was insanely strict about the rules on the ship. Though it was the first mate's job to command the deck crew, as like as not Arrow would check with Hook first, just to see if he was doing his job. Better to be prepared than not.

As he made his way down the stern, he heard the disgruntled seaman shout out.

"Easy there, lad." He called. "You'll have your work upon you soon enough. Enjoy the quiet moments, because heaven knows we don't get them often enough."

Walking over to the financier, gazed out to sea. "So," he started, trying to ease into conversation, "you're our magnanimous benefactor, Jack Sparrow, eh?"

Jack wasn't paying attention to anyone; it was as if his mind had completely left his body. When at last it returned to him he looked at the men who were obviously talking to him. “Sorry what? "Glad to be appriciated, sire," the cook laughed, returning to his own business as Hook returned upstairs. He thought he heard the outlines of Jack Sparrow's answer and shook his head, sighing. "I hope ferr his own sake that he's drunk," he mumbled. Just then, a different-sounding female voice rang out. "More women?" he asked, a little louder, but probably not loud enough to be heard upstairs. For a moment he looked unhappy, but his trademark grin soon returned. "Oh, well, the more the merrier, I suppose," he said with a sudden jolly tone, continuing his work.

The old man appeared from below deck, squinting his eyes to the sun for a moment as he cast his weathered gaze about and sized up the gathering crew. "Aye Lass, ye'll survive 'em. Old Crouch'll see to that." A massive gnarled hand stroked the doorway as he walked through in admiration, feeling the pulse of the ship through her wood. She was a grand lady and he was anxious to feel her rocking beneath him once more.

He looked about for the Captain and once spotted him made way. "Captain, the lass is ready." He boomed out as he neared the group, paying little heed to those around the captain as he referred to the only lady of importance to him.

A skinny-looking sailor was sneaking his way downstairs. Raising his head a little, he met with Silver's eyes, a small nod from both sides in silent agreement as Silver put down his things.

"Will, my boy, why don't you head on up and help set the old lady to sea, eh?" the cook grinned, waiting for the younger man to take his leave before he excitedly gestured for the thin pirate to come closer. Wiping off his hands on his apron, he almost jumped up and down with glee. "Well, come on man, let's see it! You managed to get a hold of it, didn't you?"

The man shifted uncomfortably, looking away from the eyes of his superior. "There were some.. Difficulties, sir," he answered. "We didn't get the map."

The anger in Silver's eyes was clearly visible as he rose up to his full height, towering over the considerably smaller man. "Garret Tulley, ye pathetic little shrimp!" the pirate practically growled, grabbing a hold of the other man, "what do ya mean, difficulties?" he hissed. Tulley, however, seemed unable to answer.

"Now, you listen to me," Silver continued his rant in a lower tone of voice, bringing his face closer so that the smaller man would catch every word. "If the Captain discovers yer true intentions, do ya know what she'll do? She'll lock ye up for the rest of the tour and send ya to the judge. Listen closely, Tulley, this is very important. Do you know what I would do if you fail me?" He let go of him, limping back to the cooking stew to stir it slightly. "I'll leave it ta yer imagination. But remember, I have experience in dealin' with the likes of ye. Now get up on deck and get me that bleedin' map!"

Tulley nodded quickly and disappeared from the angry pirate's sight. It took him a moment to calm down, but Silver was soon back to his old self, humming a tune and moving through his kitchen with surprising perfection, taking his pick in the few spices affordable.

Hey Renthead! Thank you so much for the welcome. ~looks to your face with concern and gently edges the keyboard away~

Anyone have an idea of where Elizabeth and Will are at this point in terms of relationship? I can roll with anything but wanted to know if there was a preference. Strangers, friends, closely involved?
Thanks and have a great day!

Re: [OOC] Pirates of Treasure Island

Hey Rai!

Thank you so very much. I'll go ahead and create Elizabeth tonight and do a post for her, then I can always delete if there are any objections. I'm sitting in a hotel a few thousand miles from home and would love some rp to occupy my time!

I really appreciate the welcome! I can never have enough rp in my life so this is a dream come true!

Gratefully,
Mah :)

Re: [OOC] Pirates of Treasure Island

Greetings Mahailabertrand!

I can't, obviously, speak on the behalf of our entire, hah, crew; but I personally wouldn't mind Elizabeth coming along for the ride. As my character mentioned in my last post - the more the merrier!

And welcome to roleplaygateway! It seems to be malfunctioning a bit at the moment, at least for me, but I'm sure it'll clear up in a week or so ;)

Re: [OOC] Pirates of Treasure Island

Hey Guys (and Gals),
Just found roleplaygateway tonight and am so thrilled to see this Pirate RP. I'm from the old msngroups days of rp and have missed it terribly.
I introduced a character, James Crouch, on the thread already and just now saw that there is already a Boatswain. I had been mentally picturing him as Bosun but please give him whatever job you like and I'll roll with it.

I'd love to bring a female character in and saw that Elizabeth was absent still. What would you think about me bringing her in dressed as a boy and hiding out as one of the crewmembers?
Thanks!
Mahaila :)

Re: [OOC] Pirates of Treasure Island

Just a quick question: Are we using the highly-competent Mr. Arrow from the Muppet Treasure Island, or the worthless, drunk Mr. Arrow from the original Treasure Island?

Re: [OOC] Pirates of Treasure Island

Dude he sounds cool... It's fine...

but we still need a Turner... considering he's like the lead main...

But I'm gonna warn you guys If I end up taking him too he'll end up looking ike this

only slightly younger...

Re: [OOC] Pirates of Treasure Island

Would it be inappropriate if I were to submit James Matthews (Captain Hook) in a slightly altered (read: no Peter Pan connection) form for the position of boatswain (bosun)? If so, I've got another character... (but I'd rather play Hook.)

Re: [OOC] Pirates of Treasure Island

Aright, I'll write an intro for him, then :) /shuts up.

Re: [OOC] Pirates of Treasure Island

yeah... and I think thats what he dose in most interpretations... too...

Re: [OOC] Pirates of Treasure Island

How'd you like to do this, by the way? Should I have him pose as a cook for the crew, like the novel?

yeah... Nigel Throneberry I love one... but like now I'm watching Professional Pirate...

Re: [OOC] Pirates of Treasure Island
