Altheda Ali stepped into the lab, with a smile. She was going to get her Pokemon, and would be very happy. She hoped she could get a cute one. A cute one would be good to show off in contests!!!

Sheena entered the laboratory, nervous. She didn't know which Pokémon to take, what the choices were. She was worried that the Professor would think that she is too old. All sorts of worrisome ideas and problems jumbled themselves in her head, so much that she didn't watch where she was going and bumped her knee on a table corner. She clenched her teeth in pain, but naught a sound came out of her mouth. She looked around, searching for the Professor.

"Hello?" she called, uncertain.

Professor Towers was standing by the table that had the Six Poke Balls on it, each one containing a Pokemon. He was mostly going through his notes, awaiting the myriad of trainers that were likely to come soon. He whipped around to see two of them.

Hello! Hello! Welcome. I called you here for a reas-? Wait, where are the others?

The Professor needed to know it seemed as he asked both the aspiring trainers.

It was at this moment that Vande Andire bust into the lab as well, standing by the others.

So, I was told to come here today alongside you pathetic lot. I wonder why?

He was rather rude it seemed, and this got a glare from the Professor.

It'd be wise if you remained quiet.

The Professor then turned to face Sheena Mariconi and Altheda Ali.

Well, while we wait for the others, you'll get your first pick. Go ahead and choose any of these six Poke Balls. The Pokemon within will be with you through all your challenges. Each one is about as new to the world as you are, so you can teach each other as you journey. Vande! You let the ladies pick first, so no ideas.

The Professor then stood aside to let the trainers pick.

Eva Calentia walked toward the lab, still stretching from her lengthy nap. She felt refreshed and ready for anything. Plus, today was the big day! Before any more time went by, she would finally get her first Pokemon. For what purpose?

...Well, that didn't matter quite yet, did it?

As she headed down the street from her behemoth of a house, she smiled as the wind lightly whipped past her legs, which were clothed in a skirt and high stockings. Eva wondered what it would be like to have a Pokemon running by her side, and she sighed in anticipation.

As she approached the lab, she panicked at the sight of two other people entering. She wasn't the first one?! How would she get the one she wanted, then? Luckily, one of them was her friend Sheena. As the pink-haired girl walked in, she called out, "Sheena! Wait for me!" She waved madly as she tried to catch up. Upon reaching the front room to the lab, she said, gesturing madly all the while, "I'm so excited! What Pokemon do you want?"

At that moment, she realized that she had practically interrupted the good Professor, and so she stood back. "Oh, sorry sir. I'll wait for these two to pick their Pokemon." Internally, she prayed that neither the boy nor her friend would pick the Shinx. She wanted that Pokemon badly, so that she could be just like her crush-for-a-day Volkner. She mentally fangirled just thinking of him.

Sheena Mariconi finally spotted the Professor. He seemed to be waiting for something... possibly her and other Trainers. She sighed, rubbed her knee and walked to him. She stopped in front of the scientist and put her hands behind her back, "Sorry, I was lost in my thoughts... I'd like to become a Trainer, if it's possible."

She sighed in her thoughts, cursing, 'That's it,' she told herself in her mind, 'He'll say I'm too old for this, and tell me to return to school that I need to finish up. I'll never complete my dream of becoming a Trainer.' She continued to berate herself, almost unconscious to the outside world unless the Professor answered.

Sheena Mariconi glared at Vande, "Pathetic? I'll show you..." she huffed inwardly. She then blinked at the six spheres laid out on the table before her and the others. She bit her bottom lip. Yes, she was thrilled that she could actually go on an adventure, but she didn't know what the starters were... "I don't know, Eva... I don't know which ones they are..." She turned to the Professor, "What are they again?"

Professor Towers pointed at each one, starting with the top left, and ending with the bottom right.

This one is Treecko, the next is Chimchar, the one after is Squirtle. For the bottom row, the one on the left is Vanipeti, the one centered is Geodude, and the rightmost is Shinx.

Six Pokemon for you to choose from. Take your pick.

The Professor was friendly compared to the other trainer.

Sheena Mariconi 's eyes lit up as she heard the name Treecko. It was one of her favourite Grass-Types, if not, the topmost one on the list! She silently squealed in delight and snatched the Pokéball containing the little lizard, "I'm taking Treecko! He's such an adorable lizard!" She stared at the Pokéball for a few moments, wondering what to do now... "Now, I need to find a decent nickname..." She grinned at the myriad of possibilities that went through her head.

Professor Towers smiled.

An excellent choice. Are you going to give it a nickname while you're at it?

It was like the beginning of every adventure...

Vande Andire seemed irritable now.

Professor, when can I choose?

The impatience in the boy was startling.

Professor Towers answered Vande.

In time, in time.

Sheena Mariconi tapped her finger on her chin, her sky blue eyes looking up in thought, "Yes I will... I'm still choosing is what..." She rummaged through the pile of ideas, trying to find the perfect one... One name surpassed them all in terms of awesomeness, and it imprinted itself on her retinas, sealing the Treecko's naming fate, "How about Bullet? Yes, Bullet sounds nice." She grinned, rubbing the Pokéball in delight.

Professor Towers commented.

A fine name indeed. Take good care of your Treecko, and you'll be just fine Sheena. Now you don't have to worry about Grass, Thick Grass, Puddles, and other places Pokemon tend to leap out from.

Sheena Mariconi grinned at Professor Towers, "Thanks, Prof." She bowed, then stood back up straight, turning towards Eva, "Meet you outside!" She ran out of the lab, happy to have her first Pokémon.

Professor Towers turned to Eva.

Your pick Eva. Take your time. No rush.

Eva Calentia spoke up, doorway. "Professor, I don't want to intrude, but..." the girl glanced nervously at the third girl, who was much younger than either her or Sheena. "I really want the Shinx. Can I... is it alright if..."

She couldn't figure out how to phrase what she wanted to say. However, her arms did; they flailed wildly as she gestured vehemently toward the PokeBall that Towers had indicated contained the precious Pokemon.

Professor Towers nodded.

If you want it, take it. There is no rush. Are you sure you want the Shinx?

he asked.

Eva Calentia practically shouted, "Yes! I mean, yes, sir. Sorry, I just..." she trailed off and rushed toward it, picking the Pokeball up as though if might break. Beaming, she declared, "I'll call it... oh, I don't know. Shinx are normally fast, right? So I'll call this one 'Speed'."

As Eva examined the Pokeball eagerly, she wanted to know everything about her new Pokemon. Gender, personality, history... there was nothing more exciting to her than seeing what kind of Pokemon would be her friend forever.

Professor Towers thought for a moment.

Speed. A fine name for sure. Take good care of it now.

the Professor reminded.

Now why don't you go meet your friend outside, compare Pokemon, talk, have a battle even. I'll wait for the rest of your friends to show up.

Vande Andire grew angry.

Professor! I can pick now, right?

he asked.

Professor Towers answered.

Soon, Vande. Let the others pick first.

Eva Calentia nodded eagerly. "That sounds like a great idea!" She smiled at Sheena eagerly, hoping she didn't seem like a total dork. Soon, very soon, she could look at her Pokemon for the first time!

Sheena Mariconi stared intently at the Pokéball nestled in her hand. She was nervous. Very nervous... What was she going to say to Bullet? Will the Treecko accept the nickname? Is it a girl or a boy? What's its personality? Many questions pushed and shoved to get Sheena's attention. She shook her head and took deep breath, exhaling loudly, "Well, here goes." She lightly tossed the sphere into the grass, watching as the white light released the familiar green lizard. The Treecko merely looked around, with a somewhat bored expression. It spotted Sheena... and waved, "Tree." Confused, Sheena waved back, wiggling her fingers, "Um... hi. I'm your Trainer... My name is Sheena. I'd like to know... are you fond of the name, Bullet, perhaps?" The gecko merely tilted his head in confusion, blinking. Sheena sighed, "I guess you don't understand what I'm saying, huh? Well, let's just say that your name is Bullet now, OK?" The Treecko blinked again, then nodded. He grinned at Sheena, "Cko!" Sheena grinned back, "Cool! So from now on, we are on an adventure! We'll get to travel the region and discover new Pokémon along the way! How would you like that, Bullet?" She sat on her knees to be at his level... Somehow, he looked smaller than the average Treecko... he was probably still growing.

Eva Calentia walked out from the lab, smiling intently at her new Pokeball. A brand new Pokemon! Unlike Sheena, who seemed extremely stressed as she considered the task at hand, she was completely excited. While she wanted to learn everything possible about the Pokemon, the important thing was that she had a Pokemon.

"Right then. Come on, Speed!" She tossed the ball high in the air like she'd seen her Volkner do on TV and out popped...

...what had to be the cutest thing that she'd ever seen. "Shinx?" It questioned as it wandered about before seeing Eva. She eagerly looked at it as it grew excited upon seeing her. "Well, hi there! Aren't you the cutest thing?" she said, walking a few steps and crouching to rub its head. "I'm Eva. And I'm your new trainer."

Both trainer and master seemed very pleased with this fact.

Sheena Mariconi looked over to Eva who had just exited the Lab. She smiled as her friend got the Pokémon that she wanted. She walked over, Bullet close behind, and looked down at the Shinx, "Well, you got a Shinx. I guess that's the one that you wanted? You named it Speed right? I wonder why?" She knew about Eva's "crush" on Volkner. She giggled at the thought.
