Once Upon a Time

An ancient war that preceeds the lifespan of modern times. One of darkness and light, of divinity and sacred freedom. Prometheus, the Titan that gifted humans fire with aim to have the Goddess ascend to rule over the pigs that clearly are unable to rule for themselves. These humans were given fire and instead of creating something greater, they kill each other meaninglessly. What better to do then to summon a Goddess to fix the wrongs of humanity and set the world on the rightful path yet again?

But at what cost?

A Prophecy, with a certain year. A Prophecy, passed down by an ancient family for generations before being handed to its current bearer through sheer chance. Whether to ascend the Goddess or lock her away for eternity, one must possess the Prophecy.

The Reign of Ira Shoku

A spawn of Prometheus, Ira Shoku, now leads Japan with his mighty fist. He controls all as the country's Emperor, and his goal seems to be the destruction of all that is light. A betrayer of Prometheus, his dream of once wishing to save the girl destined to be the Goddess has since been twisted by the darkness of his ambitions. With the cursed Hemond children as his right and left hands, and what's left of his faction of Prometheus serving his mighty Empire, Shoku destroys for the sake of destruction, searching for a meaning he no longer remembers.

It all seemed over. He had the Girl of Destiny under his thumb, he had the prophecy waiting to be deciphered, and the resistance against his power - Hime's Freedom Fighters, his exwife's HIVE, and the scattered gangs of what used to be Tsukasa's Yakuza, all too busy squabbling amongst each other to mount a real rebellion against him. But in a single instant, the tides turned. His own daughter vowed to free both the Hemonds and the Prophecy - but despite being caught yet and her having her plans foiled, the book of destiny has gone missing and it was anyone's guess as to who may possess it now.

His plan cannot proceed without it, and with this, a new opening has shown itself. If those who fight for the light wish to change the course of fate, now is the time to act.

The Truth of the Prophecy was that it was really a story with many different endings, each one a possible future. Mizuki was doing her best to guide the timeline along the path that would take them to the ending in which Yui was given the free will to decide her destiny for herself, the moment the Light Seed fully matures. It's a constant in every ending, that horrible date looming down on them. 2045 was the deadline, almost exactly halfway through the year the Light Seed would mature. They had two and a half years before it would all be over. "...No." Mizuki said, her expression darkening. "There's things you don't want to know. Just trust that I'll take us on a path to avoid the bad." One of the worst endings was where Mayumi's faction of Prometheus takes Yui and successfully implants her with their seed to forcibly give birth to a new Cocoon, one they could control from infancy.

There was a reason Mizu reacted with fear the moment she first laid eyes on Mayumi.

"We can just ask Damian if we want to know." Aria added with a half smile, knowing that the telepath was aware as well. That was still problematic, but it wasn't as bad as it could be. Damian did have the Prophecy yes... but the version Mizuki let him take from her head was simply the ending she was trying to go for. He didn't know about all of the branching paths that could lead them further down the road of tragedy and disaster. Now Yui was in a meditative trance, no doubt trying to pry open the first gate with the clues Mizu had given her. The Oracle looked exhausted as she watched, what had happened to the lively girl Aria wanted to protect? When had she become such a husk?

Then finally Yui seemed to awaken a portion of her power. She implanted her blood into the dragon, giving it extra power as the acidic blood laced where the air fangs were. Aria grinned and moved her arm, having the dragon snap at the air playfully. "Maybe we can beat the Black Reaper with this." Aria went to pat Yui on the head. "Over time we can come up with more complex combinations too. This one's pretty simple to start with." Simple, yet powerful. Maybe this would be all they would need.. but knowing Ronan and his ridiculous strength, he was probably being taught new tricks to trip them up in battle the next time they met.

"Listen carefully, please, Yui." Mizu interrupted, rubbing her eyes as if trying to stay awake. She was probably going to need a nap after this. "You can go to the second gate in an emergency... but don't go any farther. The farther you go, the easier it'll be for enemies to access your light." It would make her stronger for them, yes... but it would also ease the process to turn her into an Ultimate Weapon. "The rest of us will get stronger too, so Yui won't have to open more than the second gate." She was kind of curious about how many gates there were... but maybe it was better not to ask for now.

Anyways, this phase done, it was time for the second part. "Let's test your reflexes and reaction times now." She threw a chocolate bar at Yui and grinned. "I'll be using my wind to attack and try to steal it from you. Your job is to protect it. Whoever wins gets to eat it, okay?" She lunged then, sending gusts of wind to try to stun Yui for the easy grab.

When Yui next opened her eyes, her blood had mixed with the air from Aria' dragon. Together they controlled it, moving it in a slow arc around the room. "Wow," Yui gasped, her light bearing mark so luminous that it shone through the shirt she had adorned. Aria speculated as to whether or not they could beat the Black Reaper with these powers and Yui was confident that they could. "He doesn't have combo attacks," Yui pointed out with a smile. It was a shame that Mizuki did not trust enough in Yui to reveal her own fate. If she did, perhaps Yui would reassure her that she couldn't have children, that her uterus was non functioning, thanks to the efforts of Ira Shoku. "We can build on it," there was always room for improvement in Yui's opinion.

"It's my future," Yui huffed, uncertain as to why it suddenly bothered her so much. Yui wasn't going to pry, however, since she knew that Mizuki was tired and looked as though she needed a nap. No doubt her heart troubles were going to continue to elevate and lead them down a troubling road. Perhaps there was some bargain they could put forth, a heart transplant for a favor. The child was attempting to think strategically, but she had background nor experience to put plans into place. Yui would allow the adults to handle that, since she was only ten and had no knowledge of the real world. "Do you really think we can beat them with this power?" Yui looked down at her hands and opened and closed her fists.

Yui turned to Mizu when she addressed her, blood returning into the light bearer's hand. "Don't go past the second gate," Yui repeated with a nod. Noted, she wasn't even sure how she could unleash the second gate. "I don't want that to happen," there was a note of fear in her voice, recalling how the Matriarch had tortured her until Yui could no longer remember who she was. "I won't need to though, because Aria is strong and Xavier too!" Yui smiled, her eyes sparkling with faith and determination. Xavier appeared from around the corner and leaned against the wall, no doubt wondering what they were all up to. Yui couldn't see him though, she was busy practicing with Aria.

The child caught the chocolate bar in both hands and looked up, Aria was testing her reflexes. The child jumped over the first puff of wind and ducked underneath the second one, hitting the floor. "I'll protect it!" Yui squeaked, rising to her feet. This was a play fight, no need to worry. Yui formed a fist, a small blood knife appearing in her hand. "There," she whispered, the only weapon she would use and Yui had ensured that it was blunt so that there was no risk of harming Aria. She threw the knife, hoping to protect the delicious chocolate bar so that she could at it herself.

That's right. Ronan was very strong, with all of his training, but he wouldn't hav combo attacks. Haruka's power was of a different sort, a non-combative sort, so he would have to handle the battles alone. So by teaming up, Aria ad Yui would be strong enough to stand their ground, wouldn't they? Well, Yui could always stand her ground, but would adding Ari to the equation be enough to turn the tables and have the advantage against Ronan? "We'll do a little practice every day to try to come up with more combo attacks!" They would be strong, they had no choice but to be strong. "Maybe we can try making a storm of wind and blood?" A tornado that used the power of both, that would certainly be powerful. Of course, they couldn't practice that one inside.

Mizuki nodded, seeming a little sad about her role, about the future roads that she saw, the different horrible possibilities that could happen. It was almost a superstitious fear that kept her quiet, as if by speaking of the bad futures, they would have a greater chance to come true. "I'm sorry." And she looked it too. Aria noticed it, a little - how her little sister was slowly showing signs of having emotional capacity, ever since she had to give up her view of the world that everyone was a mindless puppet. "Once we have our happy ending, I'll tell you anything you want to know then, okay? ...Promise?" It was with relief that she heard Yui swear to not go past the second gate. It was just too much power and too much risk to put onto Yui, they couldn't let her. She would never hand over that key.

As Aria prepared small harmless wind attacks to try to take back the chocolate bar, Mizuki's head lulled and she shut her eyes. "I'm... gonna... take a nap now." She mumbled and went still. For all of her mental turmoil, the Oracle always had been a peaceful sleeper, never moving or making noise. "Let's not get too noisy, we don't want to wake her up." Luckily they weren't having a serious fight now, just a little play one to help hone Yui's reflexes and reaction times. These were fundamental skills the fish would need to have - not all of a fighter's power was in their ability, after all.

Yui's aim with the knife was true, and it struck Aria right in the collar. She let out a mock cry of pain, letting up on her attacks. That was when she noticed something very strange. "Wait, isn't your blood acid?" She asked, holding the knife so it wouldn't touch any surface. Yeah, Yui's blood was supposed to be able to burn everything and yet on Aria, it had no effect at all. "Why can I touch it?" Well, that question was probably one for someone smarter than her, so she put it aside. "Good throw! You earned the right to your chocolate." That's right. If she had killed herself or been killed, then who would be here to be Yui's big sister? Who would be here to train her and love her as much as she did? Maybe in the beginning the closeness was fake, but it was as real as it could be now.

"It is," Yui frowned. Her blood had an acidic quality that melted through most things, except, apparently, Aria. "I wonder why you're immune?" Yui had no idea as to what the answer could be, considering her blood had already dripped a hole through the bandage she was attempting to use to wrap her hand with. Yui eagerly received her prize, a bar of chocolate which she tore into and nibbled on, the taste flooding her tongue and filling her mouth in a most pleasant manner. Xavier emerged from his hiding spot, giving both girls a clap on the shoulder. "That was great, you really are getting stronger!" He grinned, no doubt happy to see them thrive. "Thanks!" Yui beamed, as happy as a duck in a pond.

"I have an idea," Xavier smiled. "Why don't I purpose a contest? The winner will get bragging rights. We'll have battles, each of us against one another and the winner will move on to the next round and the winner overall, will get a prize of their choosing." Before they could respond, Xavier began to draw rankings. "There's five of us, not including Mizuki and Leo, who will be our judges. So it'll be Yui Versus Damian in the first heat and Ally versus Aria. Then I'll fight winner number one and if I lose, she or he fights winner number two. Then, whoever wins in that round is the winner, but if I win, I fight winner number two." Yui's head was spinning while trying to process the chart. She silently sounded out the kanji, attempting to figure out the tiers. "You can fight however you'd like. The one rule? You can't use your light bearing gift." Yui took a step back, gasping. Sure, that would only make it fair considering some of them had noncombatant abilities, but Yui was small and weak, even against Damian.

"But-but how am I supposed to win?" Yui almost whimpered, the cogs of her brain attempting to come up with a solution. "You'll have to fight for it. I think we rely too much on our light bearing gifts, this will give us a good experience in fighting without it. We'll have to wait, of course, until Ally wakes up, which, with Damian on the case, I expect won't be all that long." Yui swallowed hard, nodding. She would have to practice more without the use of her ability if she wanted to win against Damian, whose fighting skills were ones that Yui was uncertain about. As far as she knew, Damian was the one who came up with the plans and didn't fight. Would he accept this contest?

"I'll do it, I want to get stronger and this is how!" She squeaked, clearly fearful, but full of brave determination. This would be a good experience in fighting against every kind of light bearer, not just combatants, but those with mental capabilities like Raven. Oh wait, Yui just realized, she wouldn't get to do that because they weren't allowed to fight with their light bearing abilities. Swallowing hard, the child stared at her hands, the pale skin was already healing the thin cut that had formed on her palm when she had burst through her skin in order to use her ability. Was it a blessing or a curse? Yui had yet to determine.

A new game was decided for them to play, but it was going to have to wait until they managed to wake up Ally, or until Ally was able to wake up on her own. They were still going to need Damian to get back to them on his progress on finding out what happened and why she was still asleep. As for the acid immunity, they would probably need tests and analyses done by Mayumi before figuring out the answer to that one. Maybe it had something to do with the mental cage having the spider lily mark as the keyhole to open it up? "I guess that means you never have to worry about hurting me." Aria told Yui. Hopefully that would help her stop being afraid of her powers. Even if Yui wanted to grow strong, they all knew she preferred not to hurt anyone if she had the choice.

"Should we start a workout regimen?" If they couldn't use their light bearing abilities, they would need to use their bodies instead. She grinned, taking Yui by the hand, almost possessively. "We can teach you how to use your muscles, or something, Yui." She stuck her tongue out at Xavier and Leo before shaking her head, hugging Yui to her chest like a stuffed animal. "This training session's for sisters only!" Even if Damian was kind of a wimpy nerd, Yui was still even weaker physically. The fish deserved a better showing than to lose in the first round, that's for sure. An evil grin spread on the traitor's face and she whispered into the fish's ear. "I'll teach you all of Damian's weak points, hmm?" It was a little sad though, because Mizu would have loved to partake in this. The chance to mess with people's heads in a fight? That sounded right up her alley.

Damian walked in then and he seemed somewhat tired. "So you know what happened?" Leo demanded before the telepath could even speak. Damian had spent the last few hours in his room, trying to get into Ally's head and see what's wrong, and why she was still asleep. Perhaps now he had an answer for them. He sat down and nodded. "She stayed behind on purpose to try and talk one-on-one with Loretta to tame her." Damian explained. Aria already had a feeling it wasn't going to be that simple. Otherwise he wouldn't look so lost. "But she didn't remember that the dream would end once Yui wakes up, but since she didn't get out, she's stuck in your imagination right now, Yui."

What did that mean? How did that even make sense? "Wait, what does that mean?" Aria asked, very much confused by this. Stuck in someone's imagination? "She was trying to call out to you and tell you what happened, but I guess you didn't hear it yet." Damian paused for a second, then a light went on in his head. He definitely had some sort of idea as of right now. "If I opened your mind network a little, maybe you'll be able to hear her." Like a voice in her head, or an imaginary friend that wasn't actually imaginary. "Do you want to try it, Yui?" A strange thing was going to happen to Yui? "Will it hurt?" The big sister demanded protectively. Damian shook his head. "It might feel a little uncomfortable as I widen a neural path, but it shouldn't really hurt. A small headache, maybe."

Yui nodded, if they couldn't use their abilities, then Yui wouldn't ever have to worry about hurting someone with her terrible blood-bending ability. It was good thinking on Xavier's part, knowing that the poor child was terrified of hurting anyone, no matter how much she claimed that she wanted to grow stronger. It was a relief to hear that Yui hadn't hurt anyone during her debut, that Mizuki had prevented the child from crossing the dangerous line that meant she would be turning into a monster. Even now, her light bearing mark shone purely, the Matriarch had been unable to turn so much as a speck of it dark and so she had resorted to other means, desperate for something that could stop her tyrannical husband, going so far as to use her adopted daughter.

Yui tapped her finger against her chin. "What kind of workout regimen?" Yui inquired, rocking from side to side. The training session, of course, would be for sisters only. "Does that mean Mizuki is going to come?" Yui inquired, her eyes wide as she wondered what they were going to do. It was true that their little fish had no idea hwo to use her muscles, she had never learned anything about strength training, not retaining the information that Shoku had driven into her, although her muscle memory served her well during battles. Again, that was only when Yui was fighting with her ability. "That's cheating!" The child shook her head insistently, wanting to play fairly. Yui had no cheats to offer Aria and even if she did, the child wouldn't spill them because it wasn't right.

That was when Damian arrived, spilling the details on what was happening to their friend. "I'll do it, what do I have to do?" If all Yui had to experience was a slight headache in order to bring Ally back, then she would dive right into it. As such, Yui scrambled onto the couch and smiled, "Okay, I'm gonna close my eyes, so you do what you have to." She lay back, her head on a pillow and waited, eyes closed. There was a slight tingling in her head, then a disconnect and her outward body began to seize.

Yui felt as though she were falling through a hole, diving into the depths of her imagination. While her outward body stiffened, then relaxed, Yui fell further into her mind, down the slide into the tunnel that eventually led her tumbling onto a white sandy beach. "Ugh, there's sand in my mouth," Yui could feel it grinding between her teeth in a most awful way. She stood, brushing herself off and looking around. A tiny island in the center of the ocean, almost instantly she was struck by fear before recollecting that this was only her mind and Yui was not stuck all alone on a sandy beach.

"Ally!" Yui called, hoping to find the girl quickly. "Ally! Where are you?!"

"Just remember." Damian's words before opening Yui's mind so she could dive in. "The safeword is Apple Juice." If she spoke it, Damian would be signaled and take her out right away, even if it meant leaving Ally stuck in there for the time being.

The path was shut. Ally closed it on purpose and she turned around to face Loretta. She knew the shadow girl would try to cause problems later... but she also knew she wasn't evil. Loretta was a victim and Ally wanted to save her, even if it meant doing something risky like this. "I'm going to save you." She said, spreading her arms wide as if she wanted to go in and hug the poor shadowy girl. "You were a good person once. You were originally destined to be the Cocoon, right? You were meant to be light like the rest of us." But because she was handed over to Shoku, the good in the child was corrupted and twisted from torture and misery and cruelty all at once.

The girl who had become the embodiment of darkness seemed to laugh at this measly attempt at saving. "Save? You don't want to save me. You just want to control me so that you'll be able to control Yui, too." She had learned the hard way from Shoku not to trust anyone, not to expect anything from anyone. All the other Light Bearers allowed her to suffer her fate. If they really cared, they would have saved her before she became like this and was replaced by the child that knew nothing, the imposter borrowing her body. "You're such a fool, staying here like this." The dream was starting to destabilize now, because Yui had waken up. They wouldn't be ejected though, they would remain locked in Yui's subconscious.

"I want to help you, because I believe we could have been friends." Ally said, calmly and her voice was full of hope. Then suddenly the darkness engulfed her and her surroundings became a tiny room in the middle of nowhere. Loretta's voice echoed around her but it was impossible to know where she was. "Then you'll have to understand what my life was. I'll let you experience it all from my own eyes!" So Ally was forced to live through all that Loretta had suffered in her time as Shoku's Subject. Being splashed with water, naked, because of Ronan's disobedience. Being hit by the electric whip because Ronan refused to kill. Ronan's empty promises of protecting her as time and time again he was too emotional to take a life.

"Why are you hurting her?" Ronan begged one day. "Hurt me, instead!" Shoku smiled at him but there was no kindness in that expression. "Because it's more damaging psychologically to see someone you love being hurt." Running through the maze with the burning floor, being dissected and having her limbs cut up over and over again, locked up in a tiny room and being forced to kill those who begged for their lives in the Hall of No Escape.

And it was in that state that Ally was in, unable to cry out as she was still trapped in the memories as Loretta. Above the island, seemingly floating in the air, was the tiny room made of iron and chains that Loretta had constructed to hold her while she waited for Yui to sleep again.

The island was deserted, the branches of its trees waved with artificial wind flow. Yui tucked a strand of short hair behind her ear and made a slow circle, the sand crunching between her toes, a texture the child had never felt before. "Where am I?" A beach, the one she had seen in her dreams so many times, but where? How had she gotten here? The sun was high in the sky, Yui had to shield her eyes in order to prevent he sun from glaring into them. Behind her, something rustled in the trees and the child turned swiftly, baby blues upturned, at last noticing the strange box that was floating just above the treeline. The child gasped and stepped back, water lapping at her ankles. "A-Ally?" Yui swallowed hard, inching her way towards the trees.

This was a dream, wasn't it? Or perhaps it was truly a nightmare? The culprit materialized before her, a dark reflection of who Yui would have become. "Took you long enough," Loretta grinned, but there was nothing malicious about it. She flicked the child's forehead, then hugged her protectively. "I won't let these people hurt you," she whispered, stroking Yui's hair possessively. "They won't hurt me!" The little fish shook her head, tensing up in Loretta's embrace. "Yes they will, they just want to use you, use us." Yui swallowed hard, in her dreams her wounds had healed, but in the real world, they were still covered in the afflictions of the Matriarch's "love."

"Take me to her," Yui demanded, her expression becoming serious. "No, she's going to hurt you. She tried to invade your mind." Yui shook her head, "No, she was trying to keep you from hurting me!" Yui replied, pushing Loretta away from her. The child's reflection balled her hands into fists, "I won't let you see her! I won't let you see any of them ever again!" Loretta's fists burst with blood, it was clear that she was determined to keep Yui here. "It's my body!" Yui screamed, a sword forming in her own grip. "It's my body, you don't exist anymore! Just, go away!" The two girl ran at each other, tumbling in the sand as their blood collided, shooting them both backwards across the beach. It seemed that they could not clash because they were one entity. "It's my body!" The child screamed again. "I never asked for your protection!"

"Fine, but when they hurt you, don't say I didn't warn you! Don't come crying to me when you're sick of your family using you! Everyone will use you, don't expect to be treated differently!" Slowly Loretta faded and a staircase appeared, leading up to the strange box. Yui took the stairs two at a time, calling her friend's name. "Ally!" Yui screamed, her throat raw as she at last reached the small hatch that had opened up. "Ally, I'm here to save you!"

Why wouldn't anyone do anything? No one was doing anything at all. As her body decayed, as the tank was put together and tested, no one did anything at all. Ira Shoku had won, and Ally knew there was no way to fight back. She had lost her legs a while ago, and now her arms were gone. She was just a log laying down in the cell, awaiting the ultimate destiny. Ally, who hadn't seen the sun in ages. There was a failed rescue attempt but it felt millennia ago and that dark haired girl that called her sister was punished for her insubordination. At least there was the silver lining that with the curse spreading and taking her bodily functions one by one, the torture had more or less stopped. No more would she be subject to the electric whip, to have to run in the maze of burning floor.

It was a very long time since Ronan had ever done much but stare at her. The empty promises weren't spoken, and his mind was taken more and more with every white devil he swallowed at Ira Shoku's behest. The loyal soldier, stripped of everything that made him Ronan. He would stare, but ultimately he did nothing. It wasn't his fault, but it stung all the same. It would soon be all over, anyhow. All that was left was to wait until her body decayed to the point that it died on its own and then it would be into the tank for her. Would Loretta let her out, then? Or would Loretta force her to experience however long she had to float in the tank of misery too?

But then someone was calling her name, very faint, like a background noise from behind the stage during a theater play, a sound the audience is meant to ignore in favor of what was happening on the stage itself. But the sound grew louder and stronger and more insistent for the second round. The image fizzled out in front of her and then the box was opened, there was Yui, somehow here for her. Ally stared up numbly, as if forgetting exactly how to move. She had spent what felt like years, mentally, inside of that box as she processed Loretta's entire life memories.

It took a moment before the dreamweaver remembered that she wasn't really Loretta. "Oh.'" She croaked, and then sported a smile. "You came for me." The island was back to seeming peaceful again and Loretta was who knows where. Chased away by Yui, maybe. "Sorry for the trouble. I just wondered if I could save her somehow." Loretta Hemond was very much a victim, she deserved a happy ending too. "I'm not going to give up on her... but maybe next time I should plan it out together with all of you instead of try to solve it alone."

The Heiress's big compassionate heart was in ruins and she broke into tears, now knowing entirely what Loretta had suffered, and what Yui couldn't remember due to how extensive the trauma had been. While all that was happening to the child, Ally was whining about the toy princess tiara not having enough gems on it. She really had lived a spoiled life while others lived in suffering. While Yui had found a new family and love, Loretta had none of that, only darkness and false hope and a pain that never ended. "We have to save her." Ally pleaded, shivering. "So she can move on in peace." It was too late for a happy ending, but maybe at least they'd find a way to let her rest like the sweet angel she should have been allowed to be.

Yui shook her head, holding onto Ally who clung to the child for dear life. "You already saved her." She said quietly, ensnared in the arms of a girl who hadn't known what true pain was like up until that moment. "Let's go home," Yui took both of Ally's hands in her own and closed her eyes, allowing the two of them to melt back into reality.

Her limbs tingled oddly, Yui wasn't certain what had happened, but her head felt fuzzy and she knew that Ally was back. "Yui? Yui! Oh thank goodness!" There was an oxygen mask pressed against her nose and her shirt was gone, two large, metallic stickers placed in the center of her chest. "I thought I was going to lose you, don't scare me like that." A warm cloth was pushed against her face, wiping up droplets of blood. "What happened?" Yui slurred, body feeling weak. "You had a seizure and then your heart stopped." The child bolted upright, "You're alright now, it looks like, but I'd like for you to take it easy." Her heart had stopped? That wasn't supposed to happen, Damian had promised it wouldn't do anything! "Nauseous," Yui suddenly complained, clutching her stomach. The Resident brought a trash can forward so that Yui could heave everything in her stomach. "That's normal," he offered her a cup of water. "Your body was in survival mode."

Once checking that Yui was alright, albeit a bit unsteady on her feet, Leo rushed to check in on Ally, who would just be waking up. Yui had been asleep for only a half an hour, but a lot had happened in that span of time. She rose, her healing factor kicking in to pick up the slack, allowing the child to seat herself at the dining room table, where Damian was making lunch. "Yui! Oh my goodness, you're okay!" He put down the spatula and ran to her side, hugging her quickly. "Aria! Yui's up!" Damian called, hoping that the Idol wasn't too upset over what happened. Damian, of course, had gone into an anxious panic of cleaning and cooking, hoping that Leo would have it under control and praying that both Ally and Yui would be alright.

"I'm hungry," Damian laughed and returned to fixing up sandwiches, placing a peanut butter and jelly in front of the child. "What's the purple stuff?" Yui inquired, a stark reminder of the fact that she still had so much to learn. "It's called jelly and the brown stuff is peanut butter." Yui hesitated, "Like jelly fish?" She wrinkled her nose, but took a bite anyways. "No, like mushed up grapes." It was good, comforting somehow, reminding Yui of something warm that her mind couldn't quite connect. "I like it," Yui finished her sandwich quickly and drank down her glass of milk, sighing as she leaned back in her seat. "Wow, that was fast!" Damian laughed, his grin one full of relief. He was so happy he hadn't accidentally killed her by opening up the depths of Yui's imagination.

"What's a seraph?" The little fish suddenly inquired. "A type of angel, why?" Damian inquired curiously, fixing up curry for the others since Yui's taste in food was still quite childish. "I just wanted to know," Yui shrugged, wriggling out of her seat. "Don't go running around now, you should rest. Don't bother Mizuki either, she's asleep." Yui nodded, she was going to go check on Ally to make sure that the older girl was alright after this strange scare. Yui knocked on the door, which opened up to reveal Leo doing a dexterity check on Ally to insure she hadn't lost any bodily functions over the course of the few hours she had been out.

When Yui seemed to be broken after Damian's little stunt, Aria would have ended up breaking something if Minako hadn't come to calm her down. She told her to let them handle Yui's health and to just go check in on Mizuki. The Oracle was hardly awake, looking up at them through heavily lidded eyes. On the floor was a game system, fallen from the bed. "Bored...." Mizu murmured as she tried and failed to reach for the game. "You should get that for her." Mina said with a smile. The Sanctum Agent knew from their time at the Dollhouse that watching over comatose Mizu was usually enough to get her to calm down to some extent. "Come on, you doofus, don't just drop your games like that, you'll hurt them!"

After some time Aria fell to sleep and Mizuki did too, Aria's head resting on the bed. The sisters remained like that for the time being until an unknown amount of time later, someone tapped her on the shoulder. "Ari, wake up. Yui's up, they saved her." The idol blinked and snapped to attention. "Oh. Okay, lead the way." She glanced back at Mizu, still deep in her slumber. How had she fallen asleep so easily? A twinge of guilt stabbed her heart as she reminded herself that it was all her fault that this happened. If she hadn't tripped the implant on the heart, Mizuki wouldn't have taken such a downturn in her health. Everything was always her fault because she was the traitor. "I know that look on your face, it's the 'I'm going to beat myself up in my head.' look. Stop it, it's not pretty and Yui will know." Sure, but that didn't mean she could just pocket her feelins away. The Sinner always was and always would be someone that lived by the whims of her heart.

Yui was eating a sandwich and Aria gave her a wave. "You scared us a little there." She murmured quietly, fidgeting uncomfortably in the seat she took. "What even happened? What did Loretta do?" She was curious, and also it would be good to know a little bit so that she could be maybe a bit more prepared next time. Yui then asked something strange, about what a Seraph was. When had any of them spoken of that before? Suddenly afraid, Aria took Yui's hand. "You're our angel and that's that!" Was asking cryptic things something to do with her Light Seed? If so, Aria didn't want Yui to get further into it.

At least, not without Mizu's guidance on the matter.

Aria followed Yui to where Ally and Leo were, where experiments were being done to test Ally's reflexes and other things. "I'm okay. Physically, anyways." Ally glanced behind at the sound and teared up again at the sight of Yui, no doubt reflexively remembering all of the cruelties done to that tiny little body. "I do have... a question though." Ally was quiet, pondering how to bring this up. "Yui... your body, when Loretta had it, it died. And then it came back to life... somehow. Didn't Mizu tell us the Light Seed is supposed to leave to a new host if you die?" Died? Aria completely blocked out the rest of what Ally asked and hugged Yui. "Yui doesn't need to know what Shoku did to her!" Though it was possible the idol was more afraid of the past than Yui herself might be.

It was such a blessing the fish didn't remember a thing.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare anyone." Yui said between bites, feeling particularly ravenous. "I don't even remember much of what happened when I fell asleep, it just felt like I was falling and then I was on a beach!" Yui chugged a cup of water, feeling as though there was bread stuck in her throat from her sandwich. What happened? Yui thought back to the battle and summed it up quickly. "Loretta wanted something, but I don't know what. She said she wanted to protect me, but I don't think that's what she really wanted because she's dead and well... she's me." How was Loretta supposed to protect them if she no longer existed? perhaps she was simply a piece of Yui that desired protection and a family that didn't want to use her for her ability? They promised that they wouldn't, although perhaps a part of Yui didn't believe it? "I told her to leave me alone, because it's my body." That had made Loretta part ways for the time being.

Their angel? Yui liked the sound of that! "I'll be the Freedom Fighters angel!" Yui nodded in agreement. Damian stepped forward to ruffle both girl's hair. "An angel and a sinner, I wonder what kind of idol pair you would make?" Damian snickered, setting down a plate of curry chicken in front of Aria so that the other girl could eat lunch. Upon hearing Ally stir in the other room, Yui rose, taking Aria's hand and walking alongside her to the room where Ally was being tested by Leo to make sure that she was okay. Physically, her functions were perfect, mentally, however, it was clear that Ally was suffering. As soon as the two girls stepped into the doorway, tears sprung to their friend's eyes and Yui felt another set of arms wrap around her, another warm embrace. The little fish closed her eyes, leaning into it.

Ally confirmed that she was alright, then asked a confusing question. "I... died?" The child's voice was barely above a whisper as she digested this information. "Shoku can do things that many of us don't understand. Or maybe there's an incubation period?" Leo said quietly. "How long between death and being revived? Maybe the Light Seed was preparing to transfer when Yui was revived?" The Resident was attempting to run through scenarios, muttering to himself as he did so. What they all did not realize was that Yui's body was one that was composed entirely of light. To lose the Light Seed would mean to cease existing as a whole. She would be erased from the face of the earth and reborn in again in another form, perhaps in this universe, or simply spend eternity floating in the void between realms.

"Ally, Xavier came up with a contest to help make us stronger!" Yui squeaked, suddenly recalling the competition that they would be starting tomorrow now that the dream weaver was awake. "We're not allowed to use our light bearing abilities, but we can do anything else to fight!" Yui rocked back and forth on her heels, looking between Aria and Ally. "Us girls should train together! We'll take them on, girl's against boys!" Yui pumped a fist into the air, clearly excited for these play fights in order to prove herself. She would not be useless, Yui would fight alongside the freedom fighters to the best of her ability.

"That's right." Aria said with a smirk, knocking her head into Yui's for a playful painless little headbutt. "You're the Angel of the team!" At Damian's little tease a strange idea came to mind. What if she taught Yui to sing? Wouldn't that be - but, no, didn't Yui say once before that she wanted to live a quiet life? "It's not like she wants to be an idol or anything." Aria murmured in some lame defense, shaking her head. A different idea came to mind then, and this one wouldn't require much of anything from Yui. "But a tag team for a singing game might be fun. The angel and the sinner, hmm?" And since it was just a game there would be no performance anxiety or anything. It was just be fun and games.

After inhaling her lunch, Aria followed after Yui to go and check in on Ally, who had finally rejoined them. Aria was secretly glad they didn't have to do this whole big quest to bring her back - too many times did they lose team members and need to spend weeks planning a rescue attempt. It would be best if they could face the upcoming challenges as a team from now on. Ally revealed a truth they hadn't yet known, one Aria wished could remain in the dark. Leo took it with excitement though and was already running off possibilities by mouth. "I don't know. Loretta's memories are unreliable around then." Ally told Leo, rubbing the wet out of her eyes. "There was a suspension tank... maybe that had something to do with it?" Leo was scribbling things down already, possibly things to ask Mayumi and, if needed, Mizuki once she was awake to consult the Prophecy if it had any insight to glean upon them.

Putting that aside for now, it was time to finally tell Ally what she had missed out on. "Well, not really boys against girls, since we're up to fight one another, Ally." The idol corrected Yui with a sort of guilty shrug. It still wouldn't hurt to train their dreamweaver some basic techniques though. Not that Aria was particularly strong or anything... but of the girls here, she was the most athletic so would have to be enough of a qualifier to make her a personal trainer for them. "Is she cleared to go, Leo?" The resident gave a nod. "There's no particular physical damage, she should be just fine."

And that was how the three girls ended up at the gym. "There's nothing without the foundations, so let's start with strength and stamina first." Sure, she could show them tips and tricks with martial arts, but it wouldn't do any good if they didn't have some muscle built up first. "The boys think they can have an easy win, but let's make sure it's a girl that wins the tournament!" The first step would be for them to run laps around as long and as hard as they could to test how their stamina was already.

Yui's stamina had always been an issue. Ever since she had awoken, she barely had the ability to run for thirty seconds before tiring out and feeling as though she was going to collapse. Having Aria make her run multiple laps left Yui exhausted and as soon as Ari gave the two girls the okay to finish, Yui fell to the ground, breathing hard. "Water," she begged, reaching out for the bottle that Ally retrieved. The child sucked down the liquid inside, her legs trembling when she attempted to stand. "Aria, I think you pushed her a little bit too hard." Ally joked, sweating as well. The Heiress went to grab more water as Yui eventually was able to stand up on her own. "Okay, what comes next?" She inquired, ready to continue their training.

Next was weight training, bicep curls, reverse flies, triceps dips, and so much more. Yui used one pound weights, doing reps slowly alongside Aria and Ally until her arms burned and she could no longer lift the weights. "I'm so tired," they did abs next, crunches, sit ups, bridges, and so many exercises that Yui's head was spinning so badly she didn't think she could stand upright. "I can't get up," the child groaned, every muscle in her body aching. Her muscles had remembered how to fight, but they had not recalled the physical endurance that came with being pushed so hard for so long. "Here, I'll carry you," Ally knelt down and Yui flopped onto her back, allowing the older girl to carry her. "Dinner should be ready by now," boy had they worked up an appetite!

Their first contest was tomorrow, Yui was afraid that she was going to be too sore to fight against Damian. He wasn't all that strong, or at least, Yui didn't believe so. She had never seen Damian fight, she had never seen him workout or go to the gym with Xavier. "Aria, will you sit next to me again?" Yui inquired as Ally opened up the door to the apartment. They were lucky that their building had a gym and indoor pool, which Yui was eager to go to. Perhaps tomorrow after her fight with Damian she would be allowed to go swimming? "What's for dinner tonight?" Yui inquired as Ally placed her in a seat at the table. "Chicken katsu and a mild curry," Damian placed plates down, with a miniature version for Yui.

The child tucked in, thoroughly enjoying her meal. She had managed to eat about half of it considering that the portions were rather large. "I'm proud of you," Leo nodded, "You've gone from eating about as much as a bird, to almost the normal amount for a ten year old." Of course, none of them knew the truth as to her real age yet, except for perhaps Mizuki who seemed to know everything about Yui, which made the child rather uncomfortable to think about. "I'm a little bit nervous about tomorrow, but I'm going to do my best!" Yui said, determined. "I'm gonna fight my hardest as well," Damian said with a nod, wanting to be respectful despite the fact that he was older and much larger. Damian was going to hold nothing back.

It was nice to be out of the apartment, even if it was just for training. The apartment got stuffy after a while, a change in scenery was always welcome. But as the training went on, Aria knew they'd have to go back to the grind. "You both did well!" Aria encouraged the two slaves being worked to the bone at her command. To their credit, they performed without complaint, to the best of their abilities. "Next time let's check out the pool, maybe we can bring everyone with us?" They all deserved a break of sorts. Still, how long was their hiding here going to last? How long until Aria was put back onto mission duty? Right now, the only ones on active duty were Damian, Xavier, and Mizuki only to the extent of keeping Tsukasa and the Yakuza obedient to the Freedom Fighters. If Minapon counted, she was at work too as she tried to track down Damian's family member.

"We're home!" Aria called as they left the elevator and entered their room, using her key to get them in. The smell of delcious food was there waiting for them, already set up and prepared. "Just on time, we finished preparing the table just now." Mizuki was awake, to Aria's relief, giving a feeble wave of her fingers as a greeting. "After eating, can we have a movie night?" The Oracle asked as Aria took her seat between her sisters, ready to assist Mizu in eating by spoonfeeding her like always. "Trying to play games makes me tired... but movies will probably still be entertaining!" Trying not to think about how hard it was to see her so immobile, Aria nodded. "We should make use of that big screen television somehow, right? Let's do it." Yui and Ally deserved some nice relaxation after the cruel workout the idol had given them, in any case.

As they ate, everyone was happy about Yui's progress, able to eat almost as much as someone her age should. Ally went oddly quiet, but since she didn't speak up her thoughts, no one really noticed. "I trained them well, we won't lose to you boys." The Sinner turned her nose up in pride. "So we found where Fox and Noise escaped to." Xavier informed them, back from his mission of transporting old machines from the Dollhouse to the port where Mayumi had picked them up to take back to the Undersea. "Where are they?" Aria asked, curious. She had almost assumed they died after that chaotic battle near the border of the Minato Ward. It was probably good that they didn't. "They were in hiding at Sanctum's place. This morning Mizu and I had to negotiate with K to have them released into Tsukasa's custody." Wait, but didn't that leave something out? What about the Matriarch? Was she confirmed dead, then?

Before she could ask, Xavier finished her thought for her. "In exchange, K wanted to keep the Matriarch's body to study the modifications she did to herself." Grafting light bearing marks onto her body, using the serum to bond them to her neurons so it wouldn't dissipate like usual, with the side effect of the light melting away at her body inside out because she wasn't meant to be a light bearer at all. Wasn't it bad for someone like K to get her hands on research like that? "What if we informed Shoku?" Aria asked suddenly. Since she was the traitor, Shoku was no doubt expecting a report by the end of the week. "We know he wants to reunite his family. Maybe he'll ignore us for a while and wage war against Sanctum trying to get his ex back?"

A spoon clattered to the ground. "As nice as it was to stay here..." Mina stood up, suddenly tense. "You know I'm a Sanctum member, right? There will be consequences if you try to turn us into the scapegoats." Right. Aria had completely forgotten that Mina wasn't really on their side at all, merely staying here as a guest for her own safety for the time being.

"I'd love it if we can all go swimming together," Yui looked down, swinging her legs. They had access to a pool, it was just a matter of finding time for them all to go downstairs to the basement level, where the pool was tucked away, hardly anyone using it considering the fact that it was so cold outside. They could have it all to themselves when they eventually went down, if the opportunity ever emerged. Yui was halfway through her meal when Mizuki suggested a movie night and Yui excitedly nodded. "Yeah! Let's watch another Disney movie!" The child clapped her hands together excitedly, holding her breath as she waited for the verdict of the others. Aria agreed as well, saying that they should put it up on the big screen. "Maybe not another Disney one," Xavier spoke warily. "I don't think I can stand another round of Moana," he was just kidding of course.

"I think the movie should be Mizuki's pick, since she suggested it. Just, nothing scary, alright?" Damian scratched his cheek, since he too was a bit squeamish when it came to horror movies. "Disney, Disney!" Yui chanted, her smile wide. She lifted her fork as though it were a flaming torch in determined protest. Moving right along, they began to discuss other topics, like the fact that they were training hard. "Aria pushed us too much," the child grunted, leaning back against her seat dramatically. "My muscles hurt so much that I thought I was gonna pass out!" Ally pushed Yui's water a little bit closer to her, a reminder that the child should be chugging at least another cup to ensure that she remained hydrated.

The Fox and Noise had been spotted? Yui bit down on her lip, recalling how Noise had been beside her, unwilling to help while the Matriarch tortured her. The child shivered, scratching at one o her healing wounds underneath her bandages. "Isn't it better if we just leave them? They don't want to be involved, so we shouldn't force them." Yui couldn't say the same for Sanctum though, who were proving to be a meddlesome force in the war. The Freedom Fighters were subtly stepping up their position, taking over small wards where they could have a larger influence. Of course, they couldn't completely overthrow the Enforcers, not unless they wanted to draw too much unwanted attention to their organization, which was attempting to usurp Shoku through means other than force. Of course, if they had to, they would resort to it. They wanted to prove themselves trustworthy, not paint themselves as public enemies.

"What is Sanctum?" Yui looked up at Mina as she directed the question towards her, realizing that she knew nothing about this Mina or where she came from. "And um... don't take this the wrong way, but who are you?" The child knew nothing of this strange person who had suddenly joined their team, probably not the best addition, but then again, she had saved Aria, so the least they could do was protect her for the time being. "And if you aren't part of the Freedom Fighters... what are you doing here?"

Mizuki smiled that her idea had been so accepted. Everyone was ready for a movie night. "I'll do some research then." She said, using her voice-controlled phone to search for a good Disney movie for them all to enjoy around the TV room. With that dealt with, Yui showed off how tired she was and Ally gave a little giggle as she ate Damian's food. "Don't push them to the point where you risk hurting them." Leo warned tersely, shaking his head at the over enthusiastic girls. "It isn't fair, because we're naturally weaker than you boys." Based on muscle mass alone, boys were definitely stronger. But that could be overcome - for example, Aria was sure she could beat Damian in a fist fight. But Xavier was stronger still. "They did good, I'm proud of them."

At Xavier's update on the warfront, on the newfound spotting of Fox and Noise, Yui spoke up, bringing the idea of leaving them out of the war to the table. "If they have powers that they're willing to use, we have to accept all the help we can get." Xavier said, knowing how stacked things were against them. "We won't force them to help, but if they want to, then they should." Especially Daisy's ability to completely cancel out Ronan and Raven's, powers, she would be very useful in a fight against the Reapers. "We can use them to rescue Ronan and Raven." Mizuki said, no doubt seeing them as nothing but pawns to be disposed of. While she had grown fond of her family and no longer tried to manipulate them, that sentimentality did not extend to anyone outside of their circle. "They're free to do as they wish after that." Knowing Fox's loyalty to his master, he would help even if they didn't ask.

At Aria's plan to trick Sanctum into a fight with Shoku to buy the Freedom Fighters time to prepare, Yui was questioning again. None of them seemed to know anything about Sanctum - except for Minako, of course, since she was a member herself. "We're a group that believes it's wrong to try to manipulate the Light Seed." Minako said with a wink that wasn't very friendly. "You really shouldn't be trusting the Hikari sisters." Isn't that what the Matriarch warned them against, too? "Why does everyone say that?" Aria demanded, feeling a need to know, a need that she knew wouldn't be satiated here. "You should ask the Oracle. She knows very well who the Hikari sisters are." But Mizuki wasn't going to tell them anything of the Prophecy until she decided they needed to be informed.

"Why are you still here? The coast has been clear for the past few days now." Damian queried, his suspicions mounting. "We kept you here for safety, but it's been safe for a while." Was it - it couldn't be - she was here on a mission, wasn't she? Aria shot to her feet, holding out her arms protectively in front of Yui and Mizu. Even if it was her old partner, she would turn against her to protect her family. "Relax, I'm not a threat. Sanctum's against Shoku just as much as you guys are." Mina raised both hands in surrender. Obviously she would, what idiot would try to cause a fight in a room full of light bearers when you didn't have an ability of your own? "Damian, the survivor from your family told me to stay here to try and see how much you knew, since... the truth is..." She smiled and it wasn't clear if it was kind or not. "They're a member of Sanctum, and they want to see you again. Will you come? Alone, or with protectors, it doesn't matter. You're welcome over any time... and for this visit, we promise no harm."

The situation was tense, the entire room holding their breath as they waited for Damian to decide whether or not he wanted to see this supposed succeeding member of his family. "I'm not sure," Damian admitted. "If I really have a living family member, why didn't they reach out to me themselves?" Was it a girl or boy? Old or young? Yui too, was curious as to who the surviving Rey was. Of course, she knew nothing of Damian's family life aside from the fact that they had all been executed per Shoku's instructions as accusations against Damian being a light bearer. Silently the Freedom Fighters waited for Damian to make his decision, which they were fine with him taking his time on all things considering. He had two options, either to ignore the offer and continue living in silent grief, or contact this supposed family member and risk fraternizing with the enemy.

Still, it would be nice to get some sort of closure. "I'll see them," Damian said quietly, coming to a decision. "I'll be taking the time of course, there's no way I'm going to meet his person alone." Xavier clapped Damian on the back, "Smart," he praised with an approving nod, Damian's cheeks flushing in embarrassment and pride. "I want to meet your family!" Yui chirped, hoping that her voicing this was not rude. "You will, or at least, what's left of it." Xavier hit Damian on the back of the head, then promptly hugged him. "We're you're family idiot!" He said loudly, quickly embracing the brown haired boy. Damian's blush betrayed his inner most thoughts although Xavier didn't see it due to the fact that the two boys were hugging.

Yui thought back to this new information, wondering what she was going to do considering everyone was telling her not to trust the Hikari sisters. "But they rescued us," Yui protested, wondering if there was anyone that she could truly trust. Loretta's words rung in her ears, the fact that everyone wanted to use Yui for her abilities. "Let's not linger on these sad topics, let's think more about the movie! I'll take Mizuki to get it ready!" The child chirped and slid out of her seat, taking the handles of Mizuki's wheelchair to drive them into the living room. "I'm worried," Yui confessed once they were out of earshot of the others. "What if Damian's family member tries to steal him from us? What if Fox and Noise coming just throws everyone off?" They would have to train hard together in order to sync their abilities and make sure that they could operate flawlessly.

"Aria is putting up a strong front, everyone is." But well, Aria was easily manipulated by the Matriarch thanks to the darkness and Yui felt partially at fault. Perhaps if she wasn't so weak, she would have been able to protect what was most important to her? Maybe she could have even stopped the Matriarch before the woman had been able to hurt them? Alas, however, Yui was small and hardly able to do anything on her own. She strove to be not just better physically, but mentally as well so that next time they faced enemy, she would be ready. "I just wish there was no war so that we could all enjoy our time together and sit on the beach and have picnics." Wishful thinking of course, since the war had been raging for so long that Japan had forgotten what the sun looked like.

With bated breath, they all waited for Damian's response. Would he agree to go and see his remaining family member, or would he stay here and leave that part of his life behind? Who was it that was reaching out? A mourning mother? A desperate father? A bereaved brother, a sad sister? It was anyone's guess, and no one had the right to decide but Damian himself. In the end he made his choice - he would go, but he would bring the team with him. They would all get to go visit the Sancutm Base. "Good." Mina smiled and sad back down passively, having no clear intent to do any harm here. "I'll organize the meetup in the next few days, then." She would be their guide to wherever the Sanctum Base might be. "We'll join you after we clean up here." Aria told Yui who was taking Mizu to get the movie ready.

The Oracle was quiet, wondering if Yui had anything in mind to talk about or if this was just because she needed to get out of the room in case things got intense again. It shouldn't have been a surprise - they all knew from the start that Minako's loyalties belonged to someone else. Aria's friend, yes. But an ally? That was still up for debate. "You and Aria won't let him be taken away." Mizu said with a half smile, obediently sitting in her chair for Yui to transport her. Was losing the strength of her limbs and her bladder frightening? Of course it was. Was it embarrassing needing help with everything and having to wear a diaper again? Probably. But there were more important things to worry about than one girl's dignity. "The two of you are kind of clingy, you know." A faint attempt at a tease.

Naturally they were all putting on a strong front. "They're almost afraid to show you their weak points because they don't want to worry you." Aria was just as fragile as ever, flip flopping between worthlessness and distraction like a yoyo that couldn't decide on anything. Damian seemed to have been recovered from his Ronan obsession, but once they saw the salt and pepper-haired boy again who knew if those lingering feelings would prop back up? "You shouldn't feel responsible for anyone's situation." Mizu said, looking up at Yui with some sense of fondness. "We'll end the war and have as many movie nights as we need to recover." No, she wasn't going to mention that Yui had a very short deadline regardless of if they won or lost.

They arrived to the TV room, and Mizuki nudged her phone at Yui. "This is the one I chose. It's Brave! It reminded me of you, you have the same color hair as Merida." The Oracle was glad no one really gave her a hard time for how she was before... because if someone brought attention to that, it would've been embarrassing. Just being allowed to assimilate with the team on her own was kind enough. "Hey, hey." She lowered her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "Let's wake up early tomorrow... I'll show you how to make my cookies to surprise everyone with!" She fidgeted a little in her seat, almost as if she was shy. "Only if you want to, you don't have to..." The sickly girl almost looked like a begging puppy.

Yui nodded her head in agreement, they wouldn't let Damian be taken by whomever the mysterious relative was. Or perhaps Yui was deluding herself into believing that she could keep their strange, broken family intact? Was it selfishness that made her cling to the ones who had rescued her from the iron cuffs that Shoku had wrapped her in? Or perhaps it was a need to repay the favor that was priceless? Her entire life, Yui had felt as though she was merely a pawn, unable to protect the other pieces on the chessboard, but able to be sacrificed to protect the Queen. The child was not aware of the fact that she was the Queen, with other players set about the board to protect her. If this was true, then Mizuki, the Oracle, could consider herself the King. Unless of course, there was a boy, just like Yui, who, like her, had a body entirely composed of light.

Or perhaps something much more sinister.

The likelihood of that was an impossibility of course since there was only one light seed. "I just love everyone so much, I want them to stay beside me." Yui retorted, not meanly of course. "I hope that we can all be together for a long time." If Yui had to be the pawn to protect her family, then so be it! She would face whatever adversary tried to tear her family apart and would do it with bravery and a smile, just like a real hero of justice! "Is it wrong to cling to the things we love?" The child whispered, slightly worried by Mizuki's claim of Yui being clingy. What if Yui was being annoying? What if they didn't love her, but merely tolerated the child due to how useful her ability was? Not that she had offered to help up until now, Yui was fine with being protected. Then again, if that was true, why would Aria come to snuggle with her every night? Why would Damian bake cookies and make hot coco for her? Her heart slowed, they loved her just as much as she loved them... right?

"I think they're afraid that they aren't going to be able to protect us." Of course they wanted to protect Mizuki as well, since she had grown up with them. In comparison, there was still so much that they didn't know about Yui that in all honesty, she would be considered a stranger. An unknown, an entity that they really should consider a danger considering that they knew more about Minapon's past then they did the child's. Of course, Ally had seen it all but she had yet to spill the details of the horrific things that Yui had endured underneath the hands of her supposed adopted Father. "I don't feel responsible," Yui shook her head, because, well, it was true. She hadn't been the one to kill Jenny, or kidnap and torture Damian. Yui too, was a victim in all of this.

"Brave..." Yui looked at the cover. "I haven't seen it yet, I'm excited to watch it though!" Her smile was wide. "My hair isn't red," Yui shook her head. "It's brown silly!" Yui's hair was more of a caramel color than anything, a deliciously warm color, although she hadn't seen it in a long time considering it was just growing back. "Ooh yeah, that's a good idea! We can eat them after our tournament!" To call Yui a cookie monster was an understatement. The child was obsessed with all desserts, but especially chocolate chip cookies. Who had gotten her so addicted to these sweets? None other than Aria, who had introduced Yui to chocolate.

Mizuki nodded as Yui spoke of her unending love for the whole family. They really were the shining light of her life, that much was certain, at least in her point of view. Mizu had a different idea of things of course. The Oracle had the perspective to consider Yui's life one without any kindness. There wasn't a chance for long lasting happiness from the start. Yet she had the resolve to see this through to the end, to 2045 when it would all end. "Hope it won't be too long until we can enjoy peace." They would need to finish Shoku off so Mizu would be granted the medical care she needed. For her services, she deserved a transplant, right? Once Shoku was gone he wouldn't be able to block access anymore. "Aria clings harder than you do, you weirdo."

"It's the fact that they're older, so they feel responsible for us." Mizu wasn't sure if Yui understood how the elder members of the family saw things. "They're fighting this war for the sake of the next generation to live in peace. They want to protect those that are younger, that's how they see their duty." To preserve the innocence of the children. "They want to save you from the fate the Light Seed gave you, and they want to save me from the heart trying to kill me." And the more they fail, the more it eats away at them bit by bit. Were they going to be able to protect them, in the end? No, probably not. Because on the path to the ending where Yui got to 2045 with her free will intact, there was one very real consequence of achieving that.

Well, suffice to say, unless the book was lying, the Oracle wouldn't be there to see it.

With Yui's approval for the movie, while debating the color of her hair to not actually be red but to be caramel instead, Mizu spoke to her phone to connect it to the television and then began the screen cast with the movie already loaded up. "I guess we wait for them to show up now. Don't forget to come get me early tomorrow morning!" She said, shifting in her wheelchair with a bit of annoyance at how sluggish her body felt. "Can you move me onto the couch? Just for a little?" She didn't want to spend every waking moment in the chair. At least the couch would be some sort of variance. "Thanks, Yui." She thanked the fish in advance, untensing her body to make her easier to move.

It didn't take long for everyone else to show up. Minako was notably absent, seemingly having no interest in trying to get along with the rest of them now that her true intentions were revealed. That was fine, the Oracle didn't particularly like Aria's old partner anyways. She had her uses but in the end she wasn't a part of the family. "Sorry that took us so long, we were getting snacks for the movie." Xavier had a bowl full of different snacks. Fruits, yogurts, a bag of chips, a box of chocolates. Damian was carrying drinks, fruity juices in various flavors. "Well, let's start the show, or something." Aria plopped her but in the seat next to Yui as Mizu told her phone to press play.

Yui assisted Mizuki in transferring to the couch and clambered up beside her. "I think we're all afraid for the future, but that's why we fight our hardest in the present." To protect their destiny, to walk the paths that they wanted to pave for themselves and not the one anyone else had carved. It seems the others had been busy rounding up snacks and when they at last arrived, Yui was eager to watch the movie. She moved onto Aria's lap so that there was room for all of them on the couch together. Mina was notably absent, although it should have come as no surprise considering all that had happened earlier in the evening. "It isn't as musical as the others," Yui noted, seeing as to how there was no opening song or fantastically animated choreography. Still, Yui managed to enjoy it up until the point where she fell asleep.

"I'll take her to bed," Xavier volunteered, lifting Yui up so that her mumbling didn't interrupt the others. He tucked Yui into bed and returned to finish the movie. Damian was fully engrossed, his arms wrapped around the bowl of popcorn as he waited to see what fate beheld those for the characters in the movie. Ally cried at almost every turn, having lost her Mother at a young age, she related to the movie in a deeply personal way. Xavier simply thought it to be a most entertaining topic and was engaged in the events of the Mother that had turned into a bear and the child who had almost as good a shot with a bow as Jenny had with a gun. Meanwhile, as Yui slept, her dreams took a strange turn and with no Ally to guide them, there was no one to stop it from turning bad.

"You're such a special little girl, you don't even know it yet." Yui looked up at the woman speaking to her. She had warm eyes and a smile that lit up the room. Kimiko Hemond was as vibrant as her daughter, who was watching her Mother with a certain enthrallment. In Kimiko's arms was a book with a blue cover and a little girl on the front, reaching up to the stars. "Read," the baby Hemond demanded, reaching up for the book. "No, you've already had your story for tonight. It's time to sleep now," Kimiko drew up the covers to Yui's shoulders and kissed her forehead. "Don't go," Yui begged, holding onto her hand. "Please don't leave me," Kimiko quirked a brow, when she laughed it was as light as a bird. "My special girl, I'll be back in the morning," Kimiko promised; but Yui knew that as soon as she stepped out that door she would never come back.

Time ticked on, when the door opened once more it was Ira Shoku who stepped inside. Yui was no longer in a child's bedroom but in a laboratory, wearing nothing but a thin white paper gown. "Ronan, you've been a bad boy." Shoku's hand stroked Yui's spine and the child shivered, attempting to disappear. "And you know what that means," the Ronan before her had black hair and blue eyes that twinkled with fury. His light bearing mark was still white, a stark contrast to the boy he was now. "Don't hurt her," Ronan threatened. "Or I'll hurt you," Shoku laughed. "Brave words coming from a coward, I'm afraid your punishment for your disobedience will be dealt by your own hand." He beckoned Ronan forward and handed him the whip.

"Don't do this," Yui whimpered, hearing the crackle of the electricity. "I'm not going to hurt my own sister!" Ronan yelled, tossing the whip as far away from himself as possible. "If you continue to disobey me, I'll make sure that the punishment is even worse."

"I-I'm sorry Loretta," Ronan raised his hand, the whip shaking in his grip. "I'll make it quick-"

Yui bolted upright in bed, breathing hard. She slipped off of the mattress and silently padded across the floor, making her way to the kitchen in order to wait for Mizuki.

It had been a while but the dream of the hospital room was back again. Mizuki stood up, once again feeling strength in her limbs. The doll was there, unmoving as usual, doing nothing. The room was shadowy, bleak. What was happening, what was looming in the darkness here? "This feels too realistic to just be a random dream." She usually didn't remember most dreams, but the fact that she always remembered these ones had to be at least somewhat significant. No answers came from the doll on the bed, however. Whatever. Mizuki traipsed over to the bathroom to wash her face and as the water rinsed down she realized that it didn't feel a thing like water. A strange dark liquid oozed out almost like ink dripping out. Was it connected to an oil well instead of a reservoir?

The mirror was off, as well. It didn't blink, it didn't move as she moved her head, it simply stared back at her, more like a window than a mirror. "Hello?" Mizuki asked her reflection. She didn't hear an answer but the reflection did appear to be speaking. Instead of sounds, words appeared on the mirror, reflected backwards and junbled up to the point that the Oracle couldn't possibly hope to read what was being said. "Are you the Goddess? Then why do you look like me? If anything you should be Yui." The mermaid was the fated one to wield the Light Seed, and no one else. So this thing looknig back at her couldn't possibly be the Goddess. "Are you my subconscious?" Perhaps it was a representation of emotions trying to break through the grey walls of the hospital she was confined in. Was that what these dreams meant?

The answer was no because when Mizu returned to her bed, it was occupied. On the bed, was a dead Yui, staring lifelessly up at the ceiling. Mizu stared for a moment as words failed to form in her head, then a beam of light enveloped them both and Yui was gone, leaving nothing but a feather from her ear. That was what
shocked her to wake from the restless slumber.

Well, first step was to try to exchange her diaper. Mizu told her phone the instructions and hooked it to a machine next to her bed. A mechanical hand appeared to change her diaper, clean her bottom, and then replace it. The Oracle really did feel like an incompetant baby like this, but it was nothing compared to having to suffer from the curse like Loretta did. Time to roll into the chair, then, and get ready for the cookie session with Yui, who had fallen asleep during the movie and missed its ending.

"I'm here, Yui." Mizu waved as the chair rolled automatically to the kitchen, following the vocal instructions. It was very thankful Ally installed her equipment with the latest voice-recognition and language softwares available, all gifts from VorTech's stores of fancy technology. "Phone, show recipe." She grinned and showed Yui the recipe as displayed. "Chocolate chip cookies of love. I can gather some things, so mind making the dough? You should break the eggs first and then..."

"Mhm! You can count on me!" Yui smiled, giving Mizuki a thumb's up. the child went to gather ingredients, pulling out eggs, butter, chocolate chips, and dry ingredients to mix into the bowl. There were three kinds of sugar, one being sugar in the raw which would caramelize and give the cookie an almost toffee like flavor. Yui excitedly mixed the ingredients together, patiently listening to all of the instructions Mizuki gave her. "I had a nightmare last night," Yui said quietly while waiting for the cookies to bake. "I don't remember all of it, but I think Ronan and Shoku were there." A vague sense of terror had been left on her shoulders, making Yui slightly nervous and rather jumpy.

"I hope it doesn't come true." The child stood as the timer beeped and removed the cookies from the oven, the delicious smell of baked goods wafting underneath her nose and filling the air. The sun had risen slowly outside of the windows behind them, sending floods of color in puddles across the floor. "Ally told me that nightmares are usually a warning in our brains." She had also said that every face they saw in their dreams, they had seen in the real world, so perhaps Ronan and Shoku were randomly chosen? Yui couldn't exactly recall the specifics and she had a feeling it was something she more than likely did not want to recollect. Yui yawned and stretched, attempting to shake off the sleepiness. She had a tournament later in the day with Damian, so Yui had best warm up!

"I should train! I hope I can beat Damian today, I want to win!" Yui did some sit ups and push ups while waiting for the others to meander into the kitchen. "Mm, smells good. Getting some early morning baking done?" Damian inquired, wearing pajama pants and a button down shirt. It was clear he was still very tired, considering he was only wearing one sock. Damian poured himself a cup of coffee and snagged a cookie to dunk in it. "Hey! You have to wait for the others!" Yui said, shaking a finger at him. Damian winked, "we just won't tell them." Well, it should be fine considering Damian needed energy in order to make breakfast for everyone. Almost as soon as he was done with his coffee, Damian began to fix up a meal with vim and vigor.

"It smells good, what'd you make?" Yui helped Mizuki transfer to a seat so that she wasn't stuck in her wheelchair for breakfast. "I made us Miso soup, fried rice, and pan seared fish. A true warrior breakfast," Yui wrinkled her nose, uncertain that warriors ate fish. The others would all eat fish happily, but Yui wasn't so thrilled considering it was their nickname for her; their little fish. "Isn't it a little weird to eat things that come from the ocean?"

As their little fish followed her instructions to the dotted Is and crossed Ts, Mizuki and Yui had time to spare to converse casually about things. She was feeling a bit under the weather so she would probably take a nap during the tournament or something. Even something as basic as telling Yui how to bake cookies was enough to wear her down. What happened to the light bearer that killed their way out of Shoku's base? Would that be the only time she would be useful? "Why wasn't Ally in the dream with you?" Wasn't that one of Ally's duties as the dreamweaver? To make sure Yui got good night sleeps? "Well, whatever happened, it probably wasn't real. You're fine." Despite her heart starting to warm, it was quite clear the Oracle was bad at the whole comforting thing.

The cookies were heating up in the oven and the smell wafted through the kitchen. Mizuki was staring at her phone, wondering if it was possible to play a game on it but with how weak she felt that was probably impossible. Damian had come, like a mama bear sensing her nest was being trifled with. The kitchen really was his home, after all. "Just make sure to put everything back as how I organized them when you're done." Damian told them as he began making breakfast to them. Mizu nodded and tried to use the remote control hand on her wheelchair to help put things away. The telepath, however, wasn't going to let that happen. "Our dishes are delicate, so - ah, just don't worry about it. I can clean up after you two this once." The Oracle nodded and allowed Yui to transfer her to a chair. "Thanks, mom." She said snidely. With a nod in Yui's direction, "And you too, Yui. It was fun!"

Someone then grabbed Yui from behind, making a little roar noise. Just a small one so it wouldn't actually scare her, just a tiny little surprise for their precious cinnamon roll. "Roar?" Aria lifted Yui up and spun her in the air as if she were a ballerina. "We're eating fish! And you're our fish! We're just fattening you up so we can cook and eat you later!" She pretended to take a bite out of Yui's hair only for Xavier to transport the fish out of her arms, into his grasp with his powers. "Don't just grab her like that, you're going to startle her!" He scolded, cross at how his old friend seemed to abandon all caution with the child's diagnosed PTSD.

Unamused, Aria pouted at him, seemingly forgetting temporarily all about how she was the traitor. "She's used to be my now, so she doesn't care!" She tried to reach for Yui and then the two got into a bicker battle over who would be allowed to hug her. It went on and on until Damian had to shut them up by throwing spatula at them. "No fighting at table or no food for either of you." The mama bear was back, and he was going to tame his unruly family members. "Now, sit and enjoy the meal." He winked at Yui in particular, his opponent for the tournament. Aria and Ally shared a competitive glance with one another, both intending to try to win their bout.

Re: Start

That word is hopefully correct. I mean I just made a new post so I hope so.

Re: Start

Word on the street is that we're alive again.

Re: Start

No, there will be no posting order.

I went in and did it for you, before you post, just copy and paste the code into the reply box.

Re: Start

Hey, I was just wondering if I forgot to do something in my post since mine lacks the whole character card portion at the top of it. And sorry if its something basic that I simply forgot to do since I rushed it a bit to get it done.

Re: Start

Hey, will there be a posting order?

Re: Start

Image

We will be starting tonight, but before you post, here are a few things you should know.

β˜› You have been in this world for give or take a month. While it may seem as though everyone died on the same night, in truth, everyone died around the same time. You could have been there a week longer, or maybe a few days less.

β˜› You do have memories of your last life, unless you've explained that your price is the loss of memories. You have the same soul, but a different body.

β˜› On the night of the full moon, your first faerie revel will take place. This will be the night the RP will start at. It is during this revel that you will discover the truth about your existence, that you've been chosen for a great journey to defeat Sorrow.

β˜› What is Sorrow? Sorrow is the personification of the grief, sadness, and loneliness of the world. Should you be succumb to these feelings and be swallowed by Sorrow, you too will become a dark puppet for Sorrow to manipulate. There are ways to combat this and return to normal, these will be discovered during the RP.

β˜› Have fun~

Re: Start

Hey Queen, you can go ahead and continue without me, you don't have to wait ok? You know the situation, so I probably wont be a major poster, I made Nyx and 'outsider' type because of that so there's no need to wait - I can easily just read over everything and catch up. :)

Re: Start

As of right now, we're awaiting on two people to finish their characters before we can begin. Squarenuggets is nearly half way done and Skykoko (Xue) who is hopefully beginning to finish up their bio. Thank you for your patience everyone, we'll be starting soon.

Re: Start

Yes Squarenuggets, there is one position open and it is that of the Changeling. You have forty eight hours to submit a work in progress in the CS which is posted somewhere in the OOC and five days to complete it. Please make a proper reservation if you wish to pursue the position.

Re: Start

Hey this looks extremely interesting and I was just wondering if anything else was still available.

Re: Start

Same here. He's done.

Re: Start

I have completed as well!

Re: Start

I've finished.

Re: Start

Allright I'll go for it. The WIP will be in tomorrow, but since it's Easter Sunday I probably won't be able to do a whole lot.

Re: Start

That would be a very interesting sort of haunting, I think you should go for it. Remember that once Sorrow is defeated the ghost will go away.

Re: Start

I was sort of thinking maybe he felt like he caused the death of a loved one, and constantly a ghost, or a voice would speak to him about how their death was his fault.

Re: Start

β˜› TrivuLED || You have one major ability and one minor ability, shapeshifting will have to be one of them.

β˜› Phantom's sword || I suggest you choose one emotion to discard, otherwise we'll end up with quite the dull Valkyrie

β˜› Afreerobin || What sort of haunting? Would he be haunted by something he did in his past? Haunted by Sorrow?

β˜› Victorant || A position may open, I'll be in touch if it does.

β˜› Mazamazari || The Destiny Price is yours.

Re: Start

Agh I'll take the Destiny Price :o

Re: Start

It seems like everyone is having quite some difficulty with finding a price so let me give you a few ideas:

β˜› Memory || Every time you cast a spell or use crucial magic, you lose one memory of your past.

β˜› Feeling || The lose of an emotion like sadness or no longer being able to feel happiness. You could also lose the sensation of pain and while this may sound beneficial, it is actually quite a dangerous condition.

β˜› Destiny || Every time you have a brush with death you lose a year of your life.

All of these conditions will be reversible once Sorrow has been defeated.

Re: Start

I apologize for that little disappearance, everyone's reservations seem to be in order so I'm going to put you all down. You have 48 to submit your WIP and five days to finish it. Failures to reply will be considered a strike and remember, three strikes and you're out.
