Abilities
When a serious man turns drunk without the use of alcohol, or when a naturally cheery person acts as though they might be suicidal even though nothing terribly traumatic has occurred in their lives, that's when you know that Lydia Fatebane has recently been feeding. This demon's powers are unique in their own way. Instead of simply sucking out the pure life force of her victims, Lydia absorbs the personality of a person, as well as their emotions. This leaves her victims in a strange state that forces them to act the opposite of their usual demeanor. She does her feeding by simply staring into her desired prey's eyes. Once she's locked on to their glare, the target becomes paralyzed for a few short moments as Lydia's eyes turn a bright gold color, and the aura of the victim transfers from their body to hers. This ability is valuable not only because she is able to manipulate her victims once she's fed on them, but because the aura she drains from her targets enters her body and goes through a process similar to that of photosynthesis. From there, the person's aura will then give her one of many different possible powers. For example, an energetic or flirtatious person will give her powers of pyrokinesis, while a cold-hearted victim will allow her to use cryokinesis. There are many possibilities and it is exciting for Lydia to adapt to new abilities given to her by different types of people. In addition to feeding, Lydia can also teleport to places she's been to before, and use intangibility to walk through solid matter. However, although her powers may be somewhat advanced, she has quite a few weaknesses that give almost any ordinary person an upper-hand on her...
Weaknesses
Sunlight- Similar to a vampire, Lydia will burn in sunlight unless she has protection or cover. (Such as a hood, which she wears quite often) Brief unprotected exposure to sunlight merely stings her, but too much exposure can actually be fatal for her body and can kill her if not treated in time.
Emotions- Perhaps her biggest, baddest, and most tragic flaw: due to her powers, if Lydia expresses any type of emotion herself or tries to develop some sort of unique personality, she will undergo a trance-like state that can only be described as "extremely dangerous". From the way she's talked about it in the past, this state can literally mean the slaughtering of many people, and the destruction of towns and cities. Nobody knows for sure what really happens when she enters the trance, but if there's one thing for sure, this weakness means that Lydia is quite similar to a wanted criminal, as evil spirits seeking to have power and dominion over the world are always after her and trying to make her crack.
Telepathy- Most demons are able to use the psychic power of telepathy. However, Lydia has never been able to access the power even once. Back in her childhood, her sister used to pick on her often for this flaw.
Father- Lydia may be powerful, but her father is even more powerful. Highly feared among the demon community, if he were to approach Lydia again, she'd probably wind up dead.
Skills
Hunting- Because she isn't always willing to feed on actual human beings, Lydia goes hunting often and absorbs the behavior of animals. While it doesn't give her the real pleasure that feeding on actual personalities gives her, it's just enough to hold her over. She uses hunting rifles all the time, as they allow her to express feelings of anger and rage that she cannot show through facial expressions.
Meditation- As it puts her into a somewhat tranquil state and allows her to concentrate, Lydia is skilled at the art of meditation.
Historian/Memory- She reads quite often, and so the young woman can remember things from many pieces of literature that include legends, people from the past, and places.

Lydia Fatebane is one of those people who believes that when life gives you lemons, you take the lemons and either chuck them at life's face or squeeze the lemon juice in life's eyes. Yes; being a cold-blooded demon, this girl has an appetite for destruction that would make Genghis Khan blush. However, she tends to keep her aggressive tendencies on a down-low, as she always has to be aware of her emotions and how she is expressing them. In fact, Lydia is unable to naturally develop her own personality due to conflicts with her emotional weakness. That being said, those who first meet Lydia describe her as being dark and mysterious. With a monotone look and constant scowl on her face, people brand her as the girl who "doesn't have a soul". She's awfully quiet and introverted, so she usually doesn't have anything to say in most situations. However, when she does have something to say, it's either sarcastic, or insulting. This isn't always a bad thing, however, as her impulsive honesty can sometimes be quite humorous in the eyes of others. Professing to be a misanthrope, Lydia claims that she is cynical towards humankind, and would prefer not to be around any source of human life if possible. However, not everyone who knows her believes this to be true, as she is still willing to make friends, or "allies" despite her hatred...
In fact, if one were to dig down deeper into Lydia's behaviour, they'd find that she's really not so mean-spirited after all. Sure, she likes to point out people's flaws, but she'd never hurt someone with the actual intention of bringing them down. If something is good, innocent, or righteous, Lydia has the conscience to not tamper with it. She is truly caring and protective of those who are close to her, even though she may not show it emotionally. She will help others when need be, and can even give good advice to those who need it, as she is very intelligent. Being monotone does have its advantages, as it allows Lydia to stay calm and collected in most dangerous situations. Although she'd usually rather be safe than sorry and play by the rules, there have been times when the brown-haired demon has been rebellious, and negligent towards immoral traditions. Even though she may make sarcastic remarks about those with strange, different personalities, this girl has paved her own ways in life quite a few times.
There have been many times in her past when Lydia has felt slight remorse over her lack of identity/personality. However, whenever she has fed herself too much, becoming "full", her body will experience something similar to a sugar-rush. Her scowl turns into a smile, and Lydia's dark and depressing attitude turns into that of a spunky, energetic, and genuinely cheerful young woman. (she also still retains her wittiness and sarcasm)
In the international demon community, the Fatebanes are a household name. With an incredibly long lineage and aristocratic-like power, they are both feared and well-respected. Because of this, Lydia has never had a normal childhood. Similar to faerie and selkie sanctuaries, the Fatebanes resided in a large castle near the northern Norwegian coastline that was concealed from the public eye. Lydia was born on January 12 to Cyrus Fatebane (the powerful matriarch and leader of the family) and his wife, Hermia Fatebane. The young girl's powers were known when she was born, as the prophet of the family had foretold of her strengths and emotional weakness. As a result, Lydia was raised in solitude during her early years so that no emotional ties could be built between herself and her family. Her younger sister, Ruby, was born a year later.
When she grew older and was allowed to live with the rest of her kin, Lydia learned that she was quite different from her parents, uncles, aunts and sister. For one thing, when the tightly-knit relatives feasted on the human cattle brought up from their castle dungeon, most of them sucked blood or absorbed raw life-force, and Lydia only fed on personality, never actually draining her meals to death. Her sister absorbed her victims' intelligence, but yet she could still kill. The Fatebanes are considered to be extremely predgidous towards humans and other magical species. The pure-blooded family is even biased towards half-blooded demons. From the influence around her, the young girl learned to grow ignorant to all other species as well. She grew even more hatred towards humans when her mother died. One morning, her entire family walked into their dining room to find Hermia Fatebane dead and bleeding, while Cyrus held her in her arms, crying and claiming that vampire hunters had raided the castle and killed her in the middle of the night. Lydia was clearly sad, but obviously was forced to suppress her brokenheartedness due to her emotional weakness. Instead of crying that day, she broke all the windows in the house.
After the death of her mother, it wasn't long until her father married someone else. Her name was Sabrina Morthlock, and she was cruel, cold, strict, and forceful. However, Lydia does not remember seeing too much of her in her past. When she was about ten years old, Cyrus Fatebane grew more serious towards his first-born daughter. Now that she knew about vampire hunters, he didn't hesitate to tell her about the Dark Ages, a time when demons and other species were hunted down and killed due to human injustice. He told her that with her strength, she would be the one to strike revenge against the humans and make the world free for all magical species. Without hesitation, Lydia committed herself to learning all that she could about combat and her powers. She met with many influential people, and received much attention in her father's coven/army. Sometimes, she was even taken to small villages so that she could train and kill like she would eventually do in the future. With her sister in the spotlight, Ruby grew jealous. One day, Lydia was given a human bodyguard so that she would be safe from those who would try to kill her. In the middle of the night, Ruby slaughtered the man just so she could prove that she was stronger, and more worthy of the title as Lydia's bodyguard. Her father agreed to his youngest daughter's pleas, and so Ruby was taught how to fight as well. When Lydia asked Cyrus when she would be able to start her mission and reclaim her world for the magical species, her father told her that she would begin her mission when she turned seventeen.
The day of her seventeenth birthday, Lydia was going to have a celebration at night where she would finally show emotion, and use her trance-like state to start "purifying" the earth. It was on that day that a human servant approached her and told the girl the truth...all of it. He revealed that her mother, Hermia, was never murdered by vampire hunters, but by her own husband in the middle of the night because he had learned she was a half-demon. He also told her that Cyrus was only using Lydia to practically reform the world into a place where demons would rule, and he would be king. The girl didn't particularly believe him at first...until she did more research during the day. From her grandmother, she learned that since birth, Hermia was practically forced into a marriage with Cyrus only so that his powerful daughter could be born. She was going to try and save Lydia from his influence, but was killed before she had the chance to steal the girl away. Knowing the truth, Lydia knew what she had to do. Stepping into her family's courtyard during the night of a full moon, she pretended as though she would eventually seep into her trance, but teleported when her father asked her to due so.
From then on, Lydia was on the run for the rest of her life. Because her bitchy and crazed sister was in charge of protecting her, she chased the girl and confronted her many times, urging her to come home through the use of violence. The monotone young woman was able to hold her sister off every time they met. However, things started to grow progressively worse. Her sister placed a bounty on Lydia, and stated that if any demon coven found her and brought her back to safety, they would be handsomely rewarded. The girl was actually kidnapped a few times, but escaped and managed to leave the continent of Europe and move into Canada. Knowing that she was like a wanted criminal, Lydia took extra caution in all confrontations she had with demons and other magical species. However, she was still being hunted down despite her carefulness.
Eventually, she thought of a plan; since most of the demons in her family and in her father's army were weak to sunlight, she would move into a warm-climated area. Teraton, North Carolina seemed to be the perfect choice, as it not only was home to a sunny beach, but it was a safe haven for a variety of species such as shapeshifters, selkies, witches, etc. Lydia has moved into Teraton three months ago, and has taken residence in an abandoned house. She does not have a job, and retains a mysterious aura amongst the Teraton community. She has taken interest in the shapeshifter population, as she wants to become a member of one of their packs for alliance purposes. However, she knows that joining them is not her place. Nobody has tried to capture her since she first moved into the town, but the young woman still has her eyes open, and is quite cynical towards most of the citizens of the Teraton.
