Introduction
Runes. Somehow, these temporary tattoos give powers to people. They allow amazing attacks, summons creatures or weapons, defend people against other Runes... they are truly amazing. They cannot kill, only the pain is felt, albeit not as intense as the real thing. Recently, Alquira decided to start a tournament, called the Runic Dimension, to see who would defeat the ten best Rune users, the Runemeisers. Only one problem wrecks the fun and excitement of it all... one participant is somehow able to kill the others. How he does it, no one is sure. BUt one thing is for certain, it's that no one is safe.
Here are the rules: respect, PG-13 romance (if any), and no God-modding. If you create Runes (you'll probably have to), a character can only have up to 20 Runes on him, and they must have a limit to the number of uses (10 maximum). They also must be approved by me, and if they are of the Invocation or Arsenal type (see below), they must have a time limit. When you start, your Runes are not all new, which means some might disappear after your first Combat.
Rune categories:
Martial: Runes that give a physical attack
e.g. Rapid Fire: a flurry of punches.
Arsenal: Summons a weapon
e.g. Desperado: Summons two revolvers for 5 minutes.
Invocation: Summons a creature
e.g. Wrecksteamer: Summons a giant steam-powered robot with a mace right hand
Guardian: a defensive Rune
e.g. Mindwall: creates a dome of psychic energy around the user
Hex: Runes that give a long-distance attack or anything that doesn't require physical contact with the opponent
e.g. Spiral Flare: a spiralling flame
Being: any Rune that affects someone's state of being
e.g. Angel Wings: user sprouts angel wings

OOC Notes
Matthew Sunders yawned openly. He leaned on his arms on the table in front of him, bored. He started tapping his glass of soda, watching the bubbles rise to the surface. He sighed as his gaze slipped towards the Runes on his arms. Multiple pictures engraved on his arms until their power would run out... he snickered, that would be soon for some of them.

Twinkles walked up to the cafe quietly, the hood of his black cloak covering almost all of his face except the very bottom of his chin. The cloak hid all of his runes perfectly. He slipped into the cafe silently and sat down at a table near the door. He patiently waited for a waiter/waitress to make their way over to him, and when they did, he just pointed to the menu that stated that he definitely wanted a coffee. Once the order was taken he sat quietly at his table, seemingly not paying attention to anybody, but nobody could really be sure since the hood covered his face.

Matthew Sunders watched as Twinkles entered the café. He snickered again, wanting to do something to surprise or catch the hooded Runemeiser's attention. Tthen again, his boredom was starting to get the best of him. He sighed and got up, the chair legs scraping across the floor. He took his cold glass and walked to Twinkles' table and sat in front of him, watching, trying to cattch a glimpse of the mysterious person's face through the shadows of the hood, "'Sup?"

Twinkles raised his head slightly, but with the cloak still covering his face. He let out a quiet sigh. He looked at the runes on the other guys arms, it was obviously Matthew. The waiter came back with a small cup of coffee and placed it directly in front of him. He tentively took a small sip, somehow his hood managed to stay on.

Matthew Sunders chuckled, "I forgot how silent you were Twinkles... I'm also wondering if you're a mute... But that's beside the point. Going good today?" He drank from his soda.

Twinkles glared at Matt from beneath the hood but didn't say anything. He was pretty sure that the other would try to pull down his hood at some point. He carefully took another sip of his coffee. He gave a small shrug, indicating that he had a decent day at least. He turned his hand towards Matt, the gesture clearly asked if Matt was having a good day as well.

Matthew Sunders grinned, "Yeah it was good, despite the boredom... speaking of which I still am..." He leaned against his hand, "I'm itching for a battle or something like that... haven't had challenges in a while now..." He looked back at Twinkles.

Twinkles placed a gloved hand to his chin. A battle? It didn't sound too bad. Even though he would have to take off is cloak in order to be able to fight to his fullest potention. He quickly finished his coffee and paid his bill. He stood up quietly and walked towards the door. He was almost to the door before he turned around and looked back at Matt. He jerked his head to the door indicating for him to follow.

Matthew Sunders grinned evilly. He got up quickly, then fished a pack of fake cigarettes (chocolate-flavoured) out of his pocket. He put one to his mouth and lit it up using the blowtorch he carried around, "Looks like you're in..." He followed Twinkles outside.

Twinkles walked onto the street. He took off his gloves first, revealing pale skin. Then he diligently started taking off his cloak. The hood fell revealing bright blonde hair with small streaks of silver/grey. His blue eyes filled with some form of excitement. Sparing with Matt was usually great fun, even though his face was as impassive as usual.
OOC Notes
Matthew Sunders walked a few meters away from Twinkles before stopping and facing him. He sneered, hanging the blowtorch on his belt and letting the fake cigarette fall in his mouth. He promptly ate it, "Ready?" He inhaled greatly, "Spiral Flare!" A massive spiral of fire spewed from his mouth, heading directly towards Twinkles, hard to dodge because of its massiveness.
OOC Notes
Twinkles closed his eyes and moved one hand that was close to his body away from him and towards Matt, his Luft attack sending a blast of air towards the flames and sending them back towards their caster. If he could muster up the emotion, he would have smirked at the mock battle.

Matthew Sunders blinked as he stop spitting out flames. Feeling the heat come closer, he cursed, "Nitrous Rush!" He felt the boost of energy go through him. Dashing to the side at an amazing speed, he pretended to unholster two guns, "Desperado!" Two revolvers appeared in his hands, and he knew they wouldn't last long. Pointing at Twinkles, he shot.
OOC Notes
Twinkles dodged the bullets and summoned one of his mildly strong spirits. He definitely didn't wish fatal harm on Matt. He sent the ghoul towards Matt at light speed and let the spirit mess around with Matt's sight quickly dashing around behind Matt while sending another gust of wind towards him, sending him gently to the ground. He walked in front of Matt, wondering what his next move would be.
OOC Notes
Matthew Sunders growled as the little ghost annoyed him. Trying to shoo the soul away, he felt something push him forward. He dropped his weapons as he fell down facefirst. Growling he quickly got up... and stared right into Twinkles' face, "You're gonna pay for that... Rapid Fire!" His fists started punching Twinkles' at the speed of light. His friend would feel the pain, only decreased.

Twinkles placed both hands in front of himself, using his Bone Barrier to block the punches. He was still slightly drained from using his Geist attack, so one of the punches caught him on his side. Keeping one hand in front of him making sure that the barrier stayed up, he grabbed his side. Matthew was indeed a worthy opponent to fight. He backed up a good dozen paces before using his Spiritual Kick attack. He wondered what his next move should be....he still didn't have the energy to use Geist again, and he only had six Lufts left....and he didn't want to cut Matt open with his Scythelir....but he didn't feel he had much choice. He would only use it's smallest setting then...Matt would barely have a scratch. He let down the Bone Barrier and summoned his Scyth. He moved it slightly towards Matt, a small cut appearing on his hand.

Matthew Sunders felt the pain of being scythed. He doubled over. He decided to change tactics, and got up painfully, "Wrecksteamer! Ironhound! Bullet Barrage!" A steam-powered robot with a mace for a right hand, a doberman and a railgun appeared at his side, "This time, I shall defeat you!" He started shooting while the two Invocations dashed towards Twinkles.
OOC Notes
Twinkles moved both hands away from his body and onto the summons. His Ghost wind attack froze the doberman and Wrecksteamer in their place. He then used his Scythelir attack on Matthew again, this time aiming for his stomach. Twinkles made sure the attack wouldn't cause too much pain for his friend. After a moment his shoulders sagging from the energy use. He could feel his clothes get damp from the sweat that fell down his face. He was definitely getting his daily workout from this battle.
OOC Notes
Matthew Sunders could see that Twinkles was getting tired. Now that the Nitrous Rush was almost gone, he started feeling slightly tired. He decided to finish this. Ignoring the scythe through his stomach, he laid a single finger on Twinkles' shoulder, "Combustion." His friend would burst into flames.

Twinkles fell to the ground, his body convulsing like mad. He felt as if he was burning to death. Once he felt the flames die down, he felt as if he could breath again. He sucked in the air greedily almost before looking up to Matthew. He knew he had lost this fight, but it was still fun...most likely for both of them. But he himself would never say that. He got up on his shakey legs and held his hand out for Matthew to shake.

Matthew Sunders looked blankly at Twinkles... his face then brightened into an ecstatic smile, his eyes closed. He took his friend's hand and shook it, "You're all sweaty," he said bluntly, before laughing.

Twinkles gave a half hearted glare to his friend before pointing to the sweat dripping down Matt's own face. He looked around the street, as if to ask what Matt wanted to do now? There was no way that Twinkles was up for another battle, his breathes were still slightly labored and he could still feel the slight tickle of flames dancing across his skin. He picked up his gloves and cloak, but felt too hot to put them back on.

Matthew Sunders grinned, "Let's go back in the café shall we?" He helped his friend to said place.

Matthew Sunders observed his arms. He saw the Runes of Ironhound, Combustion and Bullet Barrage fade away, revealing his skin again. He sighed, passing a hand through his hair, shoving the other one in his pocket. He took out a fake cigarette and lit it up with his blowtorch, "Looks like I'll have to buy some more Runes. Let's see..." He put the cigarette pack back in his pocket and fished out his wallet, opening it. He nodded, "Looks like I've got enough to replace them." He looked around now where is the shop again?

Twinkles nodded and pulled up a part of his pant leg to see one of his runes. Still intact he saw. He was pretty sure Luft would be disappearing soon. He pulled out his own wallet and sighed. He would have enough to replace a few runes....He grabbed Matt's shoulder and dragged him in the direction of the shop. Every Runemeiser knew where the Rune Shop was...It would be his luck to be friends with the one person who lost his way there.....

well, the no kill, is that you feel the pain (decreased) but you can't die... things that crush, don't crush you, they just make you fall to the ground, and blades well... It's like virtual reality in that case, it goes through you but doesn't cause wounds... you still feel the pain though... the plot is to stop the killer or something of the sort, or escape the killer

Hey, I'm interested in joining this RP. One thing, first: do you have the details of the plot worked out? Also, how does the "no kill" thing work out with, say, a summoned robot smashing you with its uber-mace? Or maybe a sword, whose sharpness was enhanced by the use of rune, slicing off your arm (or head)?
