Inner Self's Name:

Image

Type of Dreamer: Normal dreamer

Image

Age: Kiyu appears to be around his late teen years, probably almost twenty years of age.

Gender: Male

Appearance: Kiyu stands at a height of five feet nine inches, and is usually dressed in clothing that doesn't hinder his movements. Usually a simple cloak over his shoulders that is a deep rustic red in color and black pants are the only thing he wears. Long golden hair flows passed his shoulders to curl along his sharp features. Golden yellow eyes that seem to glow peer out from his bangs that surround his face. Across his left shoulder is a simple peice of leather, possibly just for show, or maybe protection no one knows. His hands are armored just enough to look dangerous, but nothing more. A single horn curves outwards from the top of his head, giving him a demonic feel.

Personality: Though he's not soft spoken, Kiyu rarely talks too much. He'll engage in conversation if need be, but for the most part is reserved in what he says. He's got an air about him that tells of a deep sadness and an even stronger guilt. Kiyu doesn't like being alone, though and is fearful of being lost. He enjoys songs very much, and often sings softly when he's not around people.

He's a good listener to those that wish to talk to him, and keeps people company just the same as he likes to have company himself. Kiyu doesn't like people being hurt or taken advantage of and does his best to protect the weak by being strong himself. Though he doesn't wish to hurt people, due to his past, he will fight if given strong enough reason to. Otherwise, Kiyu will try to run from the fight, taking whomever is there with him as well. When he does fight, he will try his best to minimize the damage and if at all possible, knock out his opponent.

Though Kiyu doesn't speak much and is very easy to get along with, he also has a great fear that lingers around him almost all the time. Kiyu has been building on his softer side for years, trying to bring it into play and keep it there as much as possible. For all of that, though, it is a lie. The soft smile and sweet personality once he's spoken a few times, are nothing but a carefully constructed mask.

There are times when Kiyu will suddenly slip into being a lucid dreamer, meaning he is well aware of his surroundings and knows that it is a dream that he is. However, when this happens, his true self will take over his constructed facade and wreak havoc. He becomes a cruel, sharp tongued person with no love for anything or anyone around him. Though he knows that his other self has created relationships, he has no care for the feelings of the others.

He will insult the others and take advantage of them at any time he pleases. He is a sadist as well when it comes to a fight. He enjoys putting people through pain and killing slowly. Kiyu will go looking for a fight if all else fails, finding the thrill of the action to be most pleasing. He will leave behind anyone that his former self has worked with, and if they get in his way, most times than not Kiyu will turn on them and try to kill them.

This side of him, is his true self. The darkness that resides in his heart is thicker than that of his softer being. With the dark side of himself being much stronger, it gives rise to his stronger abilities inside the dream because he is highly aware of what's going on and can manipulate his power accordingly. Even so, with his darkness the stronger part of him, Kiyu's softer side is most often shown because he is not a lucid dreamer. He only slips into lucid dreaming every once in a while. However, he can be manipulated by others should they find out about his darkness, and his lucid dreamer state can be brought out.

This the largest reason to why Kiyu is reserved when talking to others, because he is highly fearful of his opposite side. Deep down he knows that his darkness is the true part of his being, but he's convinced himself that his softer side is his true self. His guilt and sadness add to this fact, and he does his best to hide them all from others.

Abilities:

Demonic selfs abilities:

Pulse I ~ Dark magic. Kiyu, in his lucid dreamer state, becomes a force to be reckoned with. He can manipulate his magic to further degrees than his normal dreamer state. Kiyu can draw energy from his opponent until that opponent dies. He can send a wave of crystalized spikes towards his enemy as well, and can curse his opponent so that whatever wounds they recieve are harder to heal, if at all.

Though highly deadly especially in his lucid state, Kiyu tends to draw the energies from his opponent more often than using his other abilities with Dark magic. Drawing his enemies energy from them is a slow process, offering him the pleasure of watching his prey die before him. However, he can only do one thing at a time, and to draw the energy of someone takes a lot of concentration and power on his part.

Should Kiyu face more than one opponent, he will most likely switch tactics and use the other two branches of his Dark magic which are far more easier to cast and keep using. In such cases, casting the curse first is his favored tactic and then sending the onyx colored spikes at his enemy right after to deal as much damage as possible.

Normal selfs abilities:

Pulse I ~ Dark magic. In Kiyu's normal dreamer state, he is far less powerful than in his lucid state. He is still able to draw someones energy from them, but he won't ever do so until they die. He can send the crystalized spikes as well, but in far less number than in his lucid state. Finally, the curse simply makes the opponent bleed more rather than making it difficult to heal.

In this state, Kiyu has a strong distaste for his power because he fears that it may transition into his lucid state far too easily. However, if provoked into a fight and forced to defend himself or someone else, Kiyu prefers drawing the energies from his enemy, just as in his lucid state. Doing this allows him to knock out his opponent far easier than having to deal with them in close combat.

If faced with multiple enemies, Kiyu will have to make a choice of retreating or fighting back. Most times, he will summong the crystal spikes and create a wall between him and the larger group of enemies. This is because of his wish not to hurt people if at all possible. The less of his pulse he uses, the calmer or better he feels.

History

Kiyu lived in a small town before everything happened with the dreams. His true self was a young boy who loved music and being with friends. He had a happy family and he was known by the name of Zariyith. Zariyith's family supported him in every endevour that he wished to go for, and he eventually settled on music studies. Before that, though, there was a terrible incident that changed him forever. At the age of 11, Zariyith and his best friend Uriya had gone to play like they normally did.

Just like normal boys, they rough housed, wrestled, pretended to fight with each other and other playful deeds. The difference was that they were playing around near the street in front of Zariyith's house. As they played, it turned into a wrestling match. Zariyith managed to get the upper hand in their little match and rolled over so that Uriya was on top of him. It was a move he'd seen plenty of times on the T.V, and he had always wanted to try it. After asking his close friend if he was ready, Zariyith tossed Uriya off of him via kicking his feet up and outwards.

Unknown to both boys, the street was far too close to them, and Zariyith had just tossed his friend into the path of an oncoming car. Later he was told that the moment his friend hit the car, the death was instant. Being at such a young age, Zariyith had gotten minimal punishment for what had happened, the incident being called off as a mere accident. However, to Zariyith, it was much more than that.

As he grew older, the torment of losing his friend in such a horrid way continued, and as time passed, his 'other self' became more and more apparent. Questions circulated in his mind, causing him much grief. Had it really been an accident, or had Zariyith tossed his friend on purpose, knowing that Uriya would die? He tried to build on the fact that it was merely an accident, that he hadn't wished for that to happen at all, but the more he fought with himself, the more he felt he was losing.

Eventually, Zariyith went to college and got a degree in music. From there, he became a singer, but his songs were nothing of what he originally wanted. He had a beautiful voice, but his lyrics were darker than his appearances. Zariyith made a name for himself as he went along, but he kept to himself and in the silence of his own home, the darkness was his true enemy. Constantly in a battle with his own self, sleeping was usually his way out of things. In this, he slept for hours, longer than most people. His dreams were his get away, a place where he was safe.

There were rare times when he had lucid dreams and his inner self would become apparent. Those times were nightmares to him -and that's what he passed it off as- waking violently each time. Unfortunately, now, his dreams seem to be permanent and when he becomes lucid, he can't wake up from the nightmare anymore, or pass it off as a 'bad dream'. Now, he's stuck and it's out of his hands completely.

So begins...

A groan echoed in the space around him, almost like a wake up call. Kiyu opened his eyes to darkness before him and he rolled over onto his back as he'd been laying on his stomach. What had happened? Last he remembered he had been walking down the street of Tinker Tocker surrounded by people. Though he didn't know anyone, it was nice to be with people, nice to not be alone. Then, something happened, an explosion of sorts. Everything after that was a mess in his mind and he rubbed at his forehead with the palm of his hand.

Sitting up, he hit his head against something cold and hard and he fell back wincing. Cracking his eyes opened again, it was nothing but darkness before him and he felt his breath hitching his throat. Reaching up slowly his fingers brushed across something coldcold and rough. Stone. Over him and around him was nothing but rock. How had he been buried? More importantly, was it too deep for him to get out?

Rolling over to his side, Kiyu pressed his hands upwards against the rock. If the stones caved in on him, at least he wouldn't be crushed by them entirely with how he was situated. The rock moved slightly from his pushing against it and everything shifted with it making him pause in fear of having it all collapse down on him. His heart beat furiously in his chest as he lay there, hoping that nothing happened. When no rocks showered down on him, he pushed again and the stone shifted ever so slightly before suddenly popping out of place.

Kiyu fell forward, his arms flying through the hole in an almost comical way. With the stone gone, several other pieces fell away and then in a short rumble it all collapsed around him. He covered his head, curling into a slight ball as it all showered down around him, none of it touching him miraculously, aside from a few scraps and bumps. When everything settled again, Kiyu peered out at the devestation to find that his little hole had fallen open around him. Pieces of rock lay on him, but nothing heavy enough to crush or kill him.

He stood slowly, brushing himself off from the dust. His hands beat the pants that he wore, turning them black again as they had been gray from the rock. His cloak he pulled off and shook out in the air before putting it back on. Kiyu looked around then, noting that most everything had been destroyed. He was alone too, nothing moved to tell him that there was anyone around. He turned a full circle, hoping to find someone to keep him company as he really did not like being alone.

Nothing.

No one.

Kiyu bowed his head forward, sadness creeping into his visage. Had they all been killed in the explosion? Was he the only survivor? His heart skipped a beat as he thought about the situation. Was it... his fault? Golden eyes widened in shock, his face going slack as he stood frozen to the spot. No... no it wasn't his fault. He hadn't done anything except walk down the street! Shaking his head, he did his best to push those thoughts aside. Those were dangerous thoughts to be thinking, and he was already afraid.

He began humming a tune to himself, the noise slightly calming. The song had words to it, of course, but he couldn't recall them at that moment. Only the melody of the music rang in his head. So his sweet voice carried the tune out into the opened so that his ears could drink it in and put himself in a better state of mind. His heart stopped racing and he began to feel much better. The music grew louder as he looked up and sang the notes full on rather than just humming.

One thing was for sure though, he couldn't possibly stay where he was. There was nothing left of Tinker Tocker, and he wasn't going to get anywhere there. What he needed was a place with people, or a calmer looking place. Something with trees, and green grass. Yes, that was it. A nice meadow to relax in, to take an afternoon nap in and to sing in. With his mind set, Kiyu started out in a random direction that he thought could be west, but he wasn't sure. It was through the rubble of the city, that much he could tell. It was the way that he'd been headed before the explosion anyway, so might as well stick with it.

His song carried forward, reaching out into the emptiness as he passed by the rubble. It kept him going, and kept him in a calm state of mind too. Maybe he would get lucky and meet someone on his way to a nice meadow.

Eludrest City

His song kept him company for most of his journey. The soft melody rang out in the air around him as he walked. The gentle breeze brushed the cloak that surrounded one shoulder brushed it back to reveal his well toned frame beneath. Kiyu wore no shirt, it was far too restricting in his mind. Besides, the air was always warm, he never felt cold.

As he walked, the scenery changed abruptly around him, though he didn't notice at all. He was too much into his own thoughts to think about the change. He'd left Tinker Tocker far behind, traveling quite some ways. All the while his song followed him, chasing him even. He did not sing the words, only the melody. Though the melody was sweet enough, he felt that the words to it were much darker.

When Kiyu had sense enough to look up and see where he was, he noted that he was not where he'd wanted to go. There were no fields of grasses, no flowers like he'd wanted and no tree to sit under. However, at the back of his mind there was a stronger wish to be around people instead of alone. Being completely alone was a bad thing. Even so, getting far to close to people was bad too. So he had to find a balance.

Before him was a sprawling city. If one could call it such. Rather than people around, they seemed like walking sticks of paper. Most were merely black in color, holding no faces, no details. Some were detailed, but roughly so. Kiyu, though, felt a little better now that he was no longer alone. Though they weren't really people, they felt better than having nothing at all.

He wouldn't have to worry about getting close to these people for he figured they didn't talk much. Nor would he be without company, for he figured they were just enough to enjoy. Kiyu left all thoughts of finding a solitary field behind him as he walked into the city. The colors around him were of darker hues, gold and orange to be exact. Some browns and greens here and there. The houses were carved out of the earth, popping out of the hillsides.

Up ahead was what seemed to be the main portion of the city, carved streets into the dirt with houses and shops sprouting up from the earth. Many of the structures, however, were not whole anymore. There was quite a bit of rubble laying around, but it didn't seem to bother the inhabitants. Kiyu made his way through the wandering sticks of people.

He wasn't really sure where he wanted to go, but checking out this new city was on the forefront of his mind. Every sight was greedily accepted as he turned one way and then another, his eyes shifting all over to view it all. He'd certainly wandered into a pretty place, at least he thought it was pretty. As he twirled around and around to gain as much a view as possible, he bumped into one of the people that ambled about.

Turning, Kiyu looked directly at the being, an apology on the tip of his tongue. However, his eyes settled on partially detailed stick walker and his heart clenched tightly. The breath in his lungs left him entirely and he found it difficult to pull air back in. Before him was a figure that resembled himself, except a bit younger than he was. To add to it, there was a darker light in the others eyes that terrified Kiyu.

Something writhed inside the paper thin being as it stared at him, unmoving. It was like looking into a mirror, except what you saw reflected back was something harbored deeper inside, a darkness one never wished to have awaken. Kiyu backpedaled then, stumbled backwards away from the thing as it turned away from him. The paper walker disregarded him completely, continuing on it's way through the destroyed city.

Kiyu's stumbling resulted in his falling to the ground where he stayed in the midst of all the ambling people. It was quiet there, except for the rustling of the paper stick beings that moved about slowly. What was once beautiful to Kiyu turned to something rather horrifying. He wasn't sure he really wanted to be there, especially after meeting his mirror image, albeit it was much younger than he was right then.

Slowly he got to his feet and turned away. Starting back down the path he'd climbed up, he had every intention of leaving. Once again the solitary fields, grasses and flowers, a singular tree to sit under, was beginning to sound appealing. His lips parted and his voice hummed ever so softly, wavering a bit from his nervous fear. Lost in his music, he worked his way through the throng of silent paper beings, his voice the only sound around.

Eludrest City

He was trying to get out of the strange city. Having seen his other half, it had unnerved him completely. What was worse was the look of evil intent in the being's eyes. Kiyu felt his heart race, a strange feeling at the back of his mind pressing forward. He fought to keep it down. The feeling was a strange one and it was scary as well. A kind of darkness that he didn't want to let invade his mind and body.

Kiyu moved swiftly, coming down a set of old stair in the short hill that went passed several broken down stone homes. The 'people' there seemed to turn their cold eyes upon him, causing him to fear even more and move faster. Always at the back of his neck, the feeling that someone was staring holes through his skin was present. He could almost feel his mirror image following him, if that were even possible. Kiyu continued to tell himself that it wasn't possible and that these people didn't mind his presence at all.

As he came down from the steps and the street leveled off he began to recognize where he'd come in at. The open courtyard was familiar with the fallen stones, the fountain at its center and the lack of the paper-like people. He felt a sigh of relief fill his chest as he slowed his advance. With his heart settling down, and his thoughts coming into a point of rest from their haywire earlier, he didn't notice the two sitting at the fountain.

Even so, he was a ways away from them, still on the edges of the main part of the city that was nothing but rubble. A sudden chill ran through his spine and he turned to look behind him. Golden eyes widening, he took a step backwards as he turned to face them. So, the people had followed him and they looked... upset. He wasn't sure really. Even so, they came at him with every intent to attack and Kiyu swiped his hand out in front of him, a shout of fear escaping him.

As his hand swiped out, a rush of black crystallized spikes erupted between him and those that wished him harm. He pulled away from them slowly, the crystal wall wasn't nearly high enough to keep them away for long and it wasn't all that thick either. He'd done it in a hurry with little to no thought at all. Kiyu's heart raced in his chest as he backed away, watching them carefully and preparing to raise another wall if he needed to.

Zakiriya

Zakiriya edged closer to the growing tension. He'd not made it in time to save the boy, nor had he made it nearly close enough to do anything about the sudden attack of the girl in a sphere. She'd turned immediately and proceeded to... feast on the unfortunate companion. His heart twisted, wrenching as he watched her. It almost made him sick, but he kept control of his stomach.

His weapon, however, he did not put away and he kept a close eye on the man who had killed the boy in the first place. The others, though didn't seem to notice that their companion was indeed killed by something much worse. He wouldn't say anything though, they were not lucid dreamers and even if he did tell them... how were they supposed to believe him? Zakiriya swallowed dryly as he approached the group. His hand tightened around the shaft of his scythe.

"What is the meaning of this?! What have you done? You were a guest at my fire, and this is what you bring to my table? Murder and secrets? Darkness and death?"

The boy who spoke in enraged tones also materialized a weapon he too took an interesting look. Stopping just short of them all, Zakiriya shifted so that he was nearest to the boy who asked the question. The large blade of the scythe scrapped the ground as he moved ever so slightly into the better position. His gaze fell upon the woman who'd eaten their friend and he once again felt a wave of nausea ensue.

Zakiriya wouldn't say anything until the woman answered the given question. He would decide then if she was an enemy or not, even though everything about her screamed evil. He watched wearily, ready for a fight, but not really wanting one, not so early in the game...
