Weaponry: The weapon he is known to use is a cross between a Naginata and a Bisento Spear. The blade mounted atop the spear is thicker than one traditionally found on a Naginata spear, but not as thick as the blade on a Bisento spear. The blade is solidly attached to a long wooden pole that is oval to give the user a feel for which way the sharp edge of the blade is facing. (For picture, see below the character sheet.)
For close combat, he also has a short curved knife.

Magic: He posses little in the ways of magic. Although he has been known to produce a small spark with a snap of his fingers when called for.

Appearance: Hidden under a cap of dark brown wool, he has dark, rust colored hair with streaks of shimmering gold layered throughout. His eyes are jade green in color and are very observent. He keeps his face clean shaven, not wanting anyone to comment on the color of his hair. Taller than an average person, his body is in good shape and he doesn't exhaust easily. Back story: When Matrim was born out of season, the people in the small village shook their heads with sorrow thinking he would soon die. However, Matrim had very loving parents and they tended to his needs whenever he fell ill. As result, not only did Matrim survive past his first five years of life, but he also grew up to be just as strong and healthy as the other children his age. His life was full of mischief and laughter until he turned seven years of age.
At this time, his mother died while attempting to give birth to a second child born out of season. Hope, her daughter of spring, lived through the difficult childbirth. However, even with the support of the other villagers, Matrim's father could not raise two children born out of season on his own.
And so another change was brought into young Matrim's life. The three Caustium's sold their old house and moved into a larger city where Matrim's Aunt Twittern lived. She had little love for children, but gave her brother the support he needed. Because of this, Matrim grew protective of his younger sister and did much to raises her. Often, he would sit beside her bed late into the night as his parents had done for him and tend to her while she was ill.
Another change that was brought about by their move to the city, was his realization about how usual he was when comparied to the other children. Because of this, children older than him began to bully and pick fights because he with his wild head of red and gold hair he stood out as different. Despite the disadvantages he faced, Matrim learned how to defend himself and how to win fights against people twice his size. This continued, until he had made enough of a reputation for himself that he was generally left alone.
At the age of sixteen, Matrim could ignore his wandering spirit no longer. With a farewell to his father, sister and aunt, Matrim left the city and began to walk a path all his own. On occasion, he still visits his family who are doing well.

Extra: Matrim is twenty-six years old now. He has been living on his own for well over ten years doing various jobs and never staying in one spot for very long. Most commonly, he is hired by merchants as a guard for their caravans.
