Introduction
The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know them when they are gone. ~George Elliot
TO GET AN IDEA OF THE STORY:
Lander was against leaving Valhalla. He thought it was wrong, what they were doing to the people of Earth. But when he was called on to leave, he wouldn't be the one to complain to Valhalla's ruler, the High Seraph. As the space-time vessels left the dock, he saw his mother and father waving goodbye, two little specks on the edge of the wormhole.
As he turned away from the porthole at the back end of the cabin, He noticed a teenager passing an older man a note. Lander said nothing, and turned back to the porthole, watching the time-space flux go by. Slowly, the older man gazed up at him, then looked back at the note.

Jason believed anything was possible. his father had disappeared on a rainforest expedition 15 years ago, and just reappeared 3 months ago in a small fishing village in Chile, mumbling about flying. Of course Jason wouldn't know anything about the disappearances; he was only 1 year old at the time. But he believed some strange force was acting in his life.

Lander walked along the flight deck, listening to the creaks and groans of the hull. a group of other seraphs whispering to each other caught his attention. two of them were the two he saw back at the cabin. He tried to walk by, but the teenager stopped him.
"Neelas wants to talk to you. you'd do well to listen." He said under his breath.
The old Seraph stepped forward. Everyone became silent as he began to talk.
"Lately I hear you have had misgivings about this trip."
Slightly annoyed, Lander tried to push past the group.
"Lander, I have discussed with your father about your position on the Earth predicament."
"How do you know my name?" Lander asked.
"This is my proof that I know what I'm talking about."
His annoyance became disbelief as Neelas pulled out a recorder that began playing a short clip of a discussion he and his father had had just yesterday. a talk about Lander being against the trip.
"How did you-"
"I believe your father has been to Earth before, has he not?"
"Yes, but-"
"There is another way, Lander. Another way to live on the planet Earth. A way that doesn't include mutilating the mind of the host."
Lander thought for a moment. They didn't seem quite.... normal. But they looked sane enough.
"....Show me how."

Jason sat in his apartment with his mom. they were watching "Live Free or Die Hard".
"I am Lander."
At first he thought it was part of the movie. But then...
"You're Jason, right?"
He jumped. "Who said that?"
His mother looked at him funny.
"No one said anything, honey." She smiled at him. The voice laughed and said, "Oh, just the creepy voice in your mind."
"Mom, can I pause the movie for a second?"
"Of course."
He broke into a run for his room, and whispered, "Alright. so you're in my mind, right?"
"What did I just say? Of course I'm in your mind!"
"Then what am I thinking?" He formed a picture of a cow.
"Hey, I don't know the animals on this planet!" Said Lander.
"What do you want with me?" Jason tried to stay calm.
"I just need someone to help me." Lander said cheerfully.
Jason wasn't getting a good feeling about this. "How do I help you?"
"I just need to share you're body and mind for a while."
"I understand sharing my mind; you're already doing it. but my... body?
"Like this!"
He jumped from the window.
Jason screamed. Then the wings unfurled and he flew up into the sky.
"Wh-What have you done?"
"I just kept you from smashing into the pavement!"
"Right..."
They flew on into the endless skies.
TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT:
A race of humans that have evolved wings are in peril and must travel to Earth to sustain their race's existence. In order to travel, they must find a Shell, or human, and take it over. Some "Angels" feel this is morally and ethically wrong and instead of taking over Shells, they share them with the original host. these angels are considered traitors to their kind and are hunted down. Will you be a human, a rebel seraph, or a seraph hunter?

OOC Notes
Lander/Jason flew through the sky above the burning light of NYC.
It had been about two months since that day in the apartment. Jason tried not to think about it, but it was quite hard. he had left his mom in dad's hospital room, and he often regretted the terms of the escape from his old life.
"You probably shouldn't have jumped from a third story window." Sighed Lander. He wasn't really trying to insult Jason; But no matter what way he said it, the reminder hurt.
"Shut up," Retorted Jason. His patience had really been tested since Lander entered his life. For one, he couldn't hurt Lander physically OR mentally, no matter how annoyed he got. He was like a clam, that guy.
Jason was so deep in thought, He wasn't paying attention to Lander's warnings until he flew into a brick building, fell into a side alley, and went unconscious.

OOC Notes
"That wasn't subtle."
Sariel folded her Realtor magazine and tucked it into her side bag, hurrying across the street to the fallen seraph. Her heels clacked across the pavement and then went silent. Without glancing down, she knew her shoes had encountered the worst of NY grit, and that no amount of cleaning could bring them back. The sour smell of aging garbage hit her like a wall.
"Are you drunk? What gave you the idea that you could fly in a city, huh? They have cameras everywhere. Skyscrapers. Tourists. It's a no-fly zone," Sariel rattled on, infuriated at the boy's stupidity, at the street cleaners that never did alleys, at her government for rushing the evacuation to Earth, and everything that was going wrong to prevent her scouting out a secondary location for Elysia. She had no patience to deal with this. She nudged his crumpled form, rolling him a bit so his face was more in her direction and less in the asphalt's. Bending in close with her nose almost touching his, she snarled, "Wake up, fledgling."

Jason's body, with Lander's soul in control at the moment, seeing as how Jason was unconscious, decided that this wasn't a good person to be around. he kicked up into Sariel's stomach, trying to knock the wind out of her. then he did a backflip and pulled a pistol out of it's holster. He was about to shoot when he decided he'd better squeeze for info first.
"And you are?" He unflinchingly tightened his grip to get the point across that he was ready to kill.

OOC Notes
Oomph. A tender pain erupted through her stomach muscles, worsened by automatic clenching against the blow. She wasn't accustomed to pain, especially her own, but the academic portion of her brain supplied the knowledge that the ache from this assault would linger, the damage done to her vulnerable organs continuing to grieve her while internal bruises slowly formed. It was a dirty way to fight, and precisely the way an animal might strike at the stomach to bring down a bigger animal, instinctively attacking to bring about the most damage. She bit her tongue and glared at the trash strewn alley. Exactly like an animal. Playing dead and then attacking.
Bitingly polite, she straightened, suppressing a wince at the fresh burst of pain, "Oh good, you're awake." She crossed her arms, her bag bumping against her hip. If he continued, she wasn't going to let him use the fresh injury against her.
Her eyes followed the short barrel up his arms and to his face. Sariel ignored his question, taking a long look at him now that he was less horizontal and considerably more alert. Young. A boy child. The shell was irrelevant. The seraph within was the only thing she had business with. He had hit a building. She'd heard of incomplete transitions, where the seraph experienced motor trouble and could not completely control the shell. But it was unlikely here. He'd been too agile when lashing out at her, the flip near impossible for a seraph without intact control.
Subtle movement. He was squeezing the trigger. "You don't hesitate to add insult to injury. Why are you pointing that at me? Turn it one-eighty and plant one between the eyes that made you kiss brick." Her pride forced her to drop the anger from her voice. She'd gone to him to help, and there was little sense in antagonizing him. But he'd killed the desire to help him, so suppressing her usual snarkiness wasn't warranted. "Or did I miss something? Perhaps this is an elaborate vengeance. Do you have cause to hate me? To wish me dead? No. You don't even know who I am." Let him sink that in. Few who threatened life were in the habit of killing strangers, and she attributed those few to humans, not civilized seraphim.
