Factions, Families, Clans, and Empires
Ria is the shortest of them all, at 5'3" with short, spiky black hair and dark blue eyes that shine red in the moonlight. She thin and lithe and can be found in anything black and ripped.
Kind of bitchy most of the time. Fun loving, cocky, the usual.
She pushed open the back door to "The Dagger" and hurried up the stairs. "For the record!" Tallon called after her. "You gave her permission!" Inu ignored her and followed the long narrow hallway to the stage door, where she heard music playing and Ria's musical voice calling out orders to the other dancers. She pulled open the door with a grunt and found herself on a platform, ten feet off the ground. The wrote iron banister spanned the platform and came to an end at either side where two "firemen" poles allowed access to the ground. From there, the stage jutted out into the seating area above which hung three cages.
"Angela Rianne Shadowa you got some 'splaning to do!" Inu barked, jumping from the platform. Ria turned and smiled.
"Morning Inu. So, how'd you like the party."
"That's what I'm here to talk to you about." Inu hissed. "My office. Now."
"Give me thirty seconds." She called, raising her shot glass. All the girls-even Maya- mirrored her and they threw back their heads and downed the whiskey. "If you're going to be down here, you're going to work. If you don't want to work you can rehearse. Either way it benefits me and the club." She said, preparing a second drink. A couple of the girls set off to do odd jobs around the club while the rest returned to the upper portion. "How are the new girls doing?" Inu asked Ria. Ria shrugged.
"We could really use you up there tonight, Kitten."
"On a Saturday night? I don't think so. My bar is going to be packed. I think you can handle it." She delivered the drink, lifting the empty glass in her free hand. "Here ya go."
She paused. Ria turned from the bar and Maya choked on her soda.
"How in the hell..."Ria mumbled, her dark eyes finding Maya's brown ones. The brown eyed girl shrugged her shoulders. Inu just chuckled and shook her head. "Ria, pour me another shot, would ya?" She asked stepping away. /
Inu leaned against the bar and downed another shot of Soco and looked to Ria, who was giving her the puppy dog look.
"Oh please. I invented that look. I'm not coming up tonight."
"You know...you suck."
Inu looked up at the ceiling. "You're killing me, Ria. You're really killing me."
"Pleeeeeaaaassseeee?!" Ria begged. Inu grabbed the smaller girl by the arm and dragged her away from the bar and toward the glass staircase. "Killjoy...."
"Immature runt." Ria stomped up the stairs and Inu shook her head.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Inu chuckled. She was aware of someone calling her name over the crowd, but she chose to ignore it. That is until she hear,
"ANGEL SAMANTHA-REI SUNICO! TURN AROUND!" Ria's voice rang clear above the noise of the music and the voices. Inu spun to find her friend pushing through the crowd in a black silk robe that came just to her knees. Inu reached out and grabbed Ria's hand, pulling her through the throng of people.
"What is it? What's wrong?" She asked, scanning Ria's face.
"Jan screwed up her ankle. We're down a girl and no one else knows your part like she did. We need you upstairs now." Inu groaned.
"Ang please." Ria pleaded.
"First of all," Inu snapped. "Don't call me that. I hate it when you call me that. Second off...look at my bar Ria. I can't just leave."
"The bar will be fine without you, your dancers however..." Inu hesitated. The bar was packed, but Maya and Rob seemed to be doing just fine on their own, and Tallon was flying by tables...but still.
"Alright fine." She removed her apron and threw it on her tray which she handed to a passing waitress. "Sorry boys, gotta cut this short." She mumbled. "I've got another club to save." She winked and dove into the crowd after Ria.
Maya stood behind the bar and shook her head. She would always give in when Ria pulled the act. When would that girl learn?
Inu was stripping herself of her tank top as she climbed the stairs, not caring about those who noticed and stared at her. She followed Ria down the hall to the main dressing room where all the dancers were getting ready.
"You girls are hopeless..." She said with a grin, grabbing a leather skirt.
Maya smiled. "I never really saw a point in worrying." She leaned against the bar. "Speaking of not being like others..." She jabbed her thumb in the direction of the staircase. "You and you're buddy are nothing alike. He seems like the...brash type where you aren't. Where'd you pick a guy like him up?"
From her point on stage, Ria had a perfect view of the backstage door. Her eye brows knitted together as she noticed a familiar blond head heading away from the door. 'What on Earth....' she thought.
Inu sat at her mirror and slid on a pair of fingerless, elbow length fishnet gloves. She leaned back in her chair, listening intently for a change in the music that cued her return.
"Maya." She said with a gentle smile.
When her song didn't cue her in, Inu stood up and stepped into the hallway. She waited, listening. Nothing. The door from the stage opened and Ria appeared down the hall.
"What the hell is going on out there."
"I cued them to skip your next dance."
"So you beg me to come up here then you have them skip my dance. What the fu--"
"You blue eyed blond admirer followed you up here." Inu just stared at Ria.
"You're joking, right?" Ria shook her head.
It was around 10:30 when Maya showed up at Inu's door. Ria glanced up from her coffee cup and Tallon lowered the paper. Inu turned in her seat and called,
"It's open!" The door opened and slammed shut and Maya walked in dressed in a pair of bootcut jeans and black t-shirt. "Well don't you look casual." Inu commented. Maya pulled up a chair and Tallon got her some coffee. "Plans today?" Inu asked, arching an eyebrow. Maya blushed and nodded her head.
"Actually yes. I have a lunch date....with Tony." Tallon turned.
"That guy from the club last night." Maya nodded her head. "Not bad. What's Seth think about this?"
"I haven't told him." Maya admitted. "And I don't plan on it either...you know how he gets."
"Are you two seriously playing Rock-Paper-Scissors?" Inu asked as she walked into the kitchen to find Maya and Ria locked in combat. Ria looked up and hissed.
"Shhhh! You'll break my concentration." Inu rolled her eyes.
"Maya, shouldn't you be getting ready for your date?" Maya looked down at herself.
"I am ready." She said. Inu's brow wrinkled.
"That's what you're wearing?"
"Yes, Inu, this is what I'm wearing out to lunch. It's LUNCH not a night on the town." Inu laughed.
"I love how she just leaves us in her apartment." Tallon muttered. The three of them looked up as someone knocked on the door. "If that's the UPS guy...I'm not answering. The last time I did....I was scarred for life."
"That's just so wrong Tallon." Ria wrinkled her nose. Shaking her head, Maya stood.
"I'll get it...pansies." She pulled open the door and smiled. "Tony, hi."
Tai stood up slowly, covering Inu with the quilt she kept draped over the back of the couch. "Sometimes you push yourself to far, love." He murmured, kissin the side of her head before walking away. He pulled the drapes closed over the windows and cleaned up his mess in the kitchen before exiting the apartment quietly. He nearly ran head first into Ria, who was coming down the hall in a long black silk robe and black nighty. She arched her eye brow in confusion, something dark flashing in her eyes as she did. Jealousy? Tai chuckled. "Good morning my lovely." He grinned, draping his arm over Ria's shoulders.
"Morning. Uh...what's going on?"
"I was just making sure she was ok. She's asleep on the couch if you want to check." Ria shook her head and shuffled through the mail she carried in her hands.
Inu sat on the bar surrounded by papers. Music played through the sound system, much quieter than the building was use to, but it was loud enough to keep her entertained. Like every afternoon the club was empty and her staff was sitting around doing nothing.
"I don't understand why you insisted on me working today..." Ria muttered. Inu looked up from her paperwork to see Ria descending the stairs.
"Because," she mumbled around the pen in her mouth. "Maya's got other things to worry about right now and I couldn't ask her to come in and Tallons got her kids at the doctors. You were the next best thing so quit whining."
Ria leaned against the bar, crossing her pale arms over the sleek wood. "What are you looking at, anyway?" She questioned.
"Bank statements." Inu said, rolling the pen from one side of her mouth to the other. "I'm trying to figure out where $25,000 went." Ria's eyes widened but Inu said nothing more. She gathered the papers up and sighed, laying across the bar. "I'm going to lose my club and then...my mind."
"Hate to brake it to ya' kitten, but you're minds already bit the dust." Inu's golden eyes found Tai's as he walked across the bar floor.
"Bite me Tai."
"When and where?"
Inu gaped. "You've got to be kidding me..." She muttered, watching Cam as he walked up the stairs. "He's the one she's waiting for?!" Ria leaned against the bar, her blue-black eyes trailing the duo as they vanished up the stairs.
"You sound a little disappointed." She said, causing Inu to blanch.
"Shut up Ria." She mumbled. She looked at the stairs again. I don't like this...
"So, I think you should take the night off." Ria said, hopping up onto the bar. Inu arched an eye brow and gave her a questioning look. "I know this guy and I think you might reall---"
"Oh hell no!" Inu barked, shaking her head. "I am not going on a blind date. The last time I went on a blind date the guy turned out to be an abusive bastard who knocked me up." Ria looked away.
"Inu..." Ria murmured. The white haired bartender just shook her head.
"Forget it, Ria." She mumbled. She turned to the the radio and turned the music up, heavy bass filled the empty bar. Tai looked between the two and pulled Inu into his arms, tucking her head under his chin. She sighed and closed her eyes, enjoying the warmth that spread through her and the comfort that followed her. Tai always had that effect on her.
