Description

Name: Dextetta the RoboDex

Image

Race/Animal type: Cat android

Gender: Female

Age: 1

Will you be a emerald Holder If so which one? (Optional) No

Side: Hero

Personality: Due to her function of gathering information on Eggman's various creations, she's required to venture out into the field to observe them in action. Since she has no combat abilities, she's always accompanied by a GUN soldier. Her interactions with these soldiers has led to the formation of a personality. Dextetta is very curious, not just about Eggman tech, but also about the world and people around her. This leads her to attempt to strike up a conversation with her escorts, as well as anyone else she may encounter during field work. Since she's a fairly fresh AI, her speech isn't quite human. She rarely, if ever, uses contractions and may still throw out the odd robotic response, such as "Understood" when given information or instructions. Another important aspect of her personality is that she doesn't like to be wrong about anything. This is because she's expected to give accurate information on Eggman tech to her GUN colleagues. If she discovers that info she has given is wrong or otherwise inaccurate, she can become a bit upset, generally hanging her head and becoming less responsive. This can last anywhere from a few minutes to several hours depending on the severity of the inaccuracy.

Ability: Dextetta can store and and recall large volumes of data and run at a moderate speed.

History: When Dr. Eggman caught the attention of GUN after shifting his attacks from smaller islands to larger, more populated regions of the world, they felt it necessary to gather as much info on his various inventions as possible. To aid them in this effort, they created a device capable of gathering and storing volumes of information on whatever contraption the obese madman decided to unleash on the populations of the world. This effort was codenamed Project RoboDex. The RoboDex began "life" as a handheld device to be carried around by GUN personnel. This form quickly proved impractical when she was nearly stolen by an E-100 unit her carrier was fighting. Fortunately for GUN, the unit was destroyed by one of their top agents, who recovered the device. At that point, it was decided to plant the device in an android body, allowing it to move about independently. Since this android form had no combat abilities, she would still require an escort when she went into the field, but at least she could run if a capture was attempted.

GUN Headquarters, outside Station Square

An android in the form of a red-furred Cat stood in front of a large screen, her tail gently swaying back and forth as she stared, unblinking, at the footage being played. The footage in question came from a surveillance camera outside a bakery in Central City and showed what appeared to be two men in robot costumes (Sol and Lune) trampling a young Fox (Laylin). The duo were moving unusually fast.

A blond, blue-eyed GUN soldier, looking to be in his mid thirties, paused the footage and spoke. "Did you notice anything unusual about those two, Dextetta?"

The android turned to face the officer and nodded. "I do not think that humans are capable of running at the speeds at which they were running." Her voice sounded fairly natural, if a bit monotone.

The officer nodded. "Command believes they may be Eggman's robots. I've been asked to join you on an observation mission. You already saw their superhuman speed, and we need to find out what other abilities they have, as well as what they might be after."

Dextetta nodded. "Understood."

"Good. There's a chopper waiting for us. Let's go," the officer said, motioning for the girl to follow him as he headed for the hangar. The android followed him as he walked out of the briefing room, waiting for him to open a door that led to a hallway. They walked down this hallway until coming to a large door with a sign above it that read "Hangar 01." The officer opened the door, revealing a large room with several parked helicopters. A slightly-overweight man looking to be in his early fifties motioned for them to board a copter with one of its doors opened. Dextetta and the officer climbed into the heli. The pilot shut the door behind them while they strapped themselves in. As soon as the passengers were strapped securely in their seats, the pilot took off, flying towards the two robots' last known whereabouts.

Central City, a few blocks away from the bakery

The helicopter stopped to hover over a dimly-lit alley. The two passengers unstrapped themselves from their seats and grabbed parachutes.

"Any guesses as to why those guys were in town, Dextetta?" asked her companion as he prepared to jump from the now open door.

"Perhaps their objective is to locate something. The young Fox may have simply been in their way. Were they instructed to attack, they would have done much more damage, not just to the boy, but to the city as well." She jumped out after her escort, deploying her parachute as she dropped.

Upon landing, Dextetta began walking down the alley, peeking into every nook and cranny for signs of the robots. Her escort followed close behind her, keeping an equally sharp eye out for the robotic duo. "You know," said the officer, attempting to engage in a little casual conversation with his companion, "those two sort of remind me of members of that one electronica band. I believe it's called Daft Punk."

"I am not familiar with this Daft Punk," the scarlet-furred android replied.

"They're pretty popular from what I understand. I'm not a big fan of electronica though. I'm more of a country person."

Dextetta blinked with a slight nod, a sign that she had absorbed the information that had just been given to her. "Understood," she stated a bit unemotionally.

The duo continued down the alley, neither one catching a glimpse of the robots. The officer sighed. "They're not here it seems. Maybe they got out of the city. We don't have any clues beyond the tape from that bakery." The frustration in the man's voice was evident. "Fast as those robots moved, they're probably out of the city by now."

"Perhaps we should ask the young fox if he knows anything," suggested Dextetta.

"Good idea, Dextetta, but where do we find the kid?" asked the impatient officer.

"Our best option is the bakery where the footage was taken," the android responded, turning around and walking back toward the main road. The officer followed her as she turned the corner and headed down the sidewalk, stopping every so often to look at the buildings. Eventually, the duo reached the their destination, where they were greeted by police. Neither one knew why the cops were there. There was a slim chance that they were called regarding a second visit by the robots, but it was more likely to be something related to the city's local criminal element. Still, Dextetta felt it would be a good idea to ask one of the cops what was happening.

The android walked up to one of the cars and gently tapped the driver's-side window, attempting to get the attention of the chubby, dark-skinned cop sitting in the driver's seat.

The cop pressed a button on the door, lowering the driver's side window so that he could speak with the girl. "Yes, ma'am?"

"Forgive me for interfering with your mission, but are you here regarding what appeared to be two men dressed as robots?"

"Naw," the cop replied, taking a drink of a soda. "There's a robber on the loose, and we believe he came in here. I never heard of no guys dressed like robots."

Dextetta nodded. "Understood. That is all I needed to know. Thank you for your cooperation, sir." She turned and walked away from the car, returning to her escort's side.

"Anything?" inquired the officer as his companion rejoined him.

Dextetta shook her head. "They are not here about the robots. Still, the Fox may be able to assist us."

The officer nodded. "Let's go inside then." He turned and headed toward the bakery door and opened it Dextetta took the opportunity to go into the bakery through the open door. Her companion waited until she was inside, the went in himself, allowing the door to close behind him. Dextetta looked around, searching for a face that matched the one getting trampled in the surveillance footage. She eventually found the Fox, who was enjoying donuts with a lilac-furred Cat (Blaze).

Central City Bakery

Just before reaching the Fox and Cat's table, Dextetta and her partner heard the gunshots being fired outside.

"Private Simms," the android asked, turning her head to face her escort.

"Yeah?" the man responded.

"Did you hear the gunshots outside?"

Simms nodded. "I don't know who DIDN'T hear that. Do you think we should check it out?"

"There is a possibility that the robots fired the shots. Even if they did not, I believe we should investigate."

The man nodded, heading back outside with Dextetta following close behind.

As soon as they got out, they saw Officer Hanson lying belly-up on the pavement with a horrified expression frozen on his face. He was surrounded by other cops, who talked among themselves regarding the claw marks in his throat.

"Think that robber did this?" asked a slender, young-looking cop with reddish-brown hair and brown eyes.

"There's no way it was a wild animal," replied a dark-skinned officer with a shaven head and a small black mustache and beard. "Those marks do look like claw marks though."

Dextetta looked closely at the claw marks, comparing them with what Eggman robot data she already had. A few matches came up. The first was Metal Sonic, but her data stated that he was in storage and inactive. Second was Mecha Sonic, but that unit was destroyed on Angel Island a few years ago. The third and final match was the Tails Doll, an experimental unit modeled after Miles "Tails" Prower. Her data revealed that this particular unit malfunctioned and escaped from Eggman's base shortly after activation. She turned her gaze away from the claw marks and toward the officers who surrounded their fallen comrade.

"Officers, I believe that the perpetrator of this attack may be the Tails Doll. According to my data, the Tails Doll is an experimental robotic replica of Miles Prower. According to Dr. Eggman's records, this unit malfunctioned and escaped shortly after activation. Its current location is officially unknown, but it is possible that it is here, given that all other units capable of inflicting this wound are either inactive or destroyed."

The auburn-haired cop raised an eyebrow at the girl. "So you think that a doll did this?"

Dextetta shook her head. "Technically, it is not a doll, but it bears a resemblance to one. It is a defective Eggman robot."

The dark-skinned cop gave the android an incredulous look. How can some Cat girl determine that a defective Eggbot slashed Officer Hanson's throat just by looking at the claw marks. "What evidence are you going on, miss? All we have is a freaked-out looking Officer Hanson with his throat slashed."

"I am the product of GUN Project RoboDex, sir. I was created to serve as a mobile database of Eggman technology. The claw marks match those of the Tails Doll's concealed attack claws."

Dextetta turned her head to face the two Hedgehogs who were addressing her. She had no idea how to answer the black one's question, but the all-too-familiar blue one's question would present less difficulty.

"There has been an attack here that appears to have been perpetrated by the Tails Doll," the android said, pointing to Officer Hanson's lifeless body. It was probably the best answer she could give. She didn't know why Sonic was in the city, or that her superiors were apparently after him. Her mission was originally to gather data on the Daft Punk Wannabe Robots, but this Tails Doll incident created a diversion. These two Hedgehogs were probably going to be another one since she couldn't help but try to answer their questions.

Meanwhile, Private Simms was on the radio with his superiors, explaining the current situation and how it was keeping them from keeping tabs on those robots. "Dextetta thinks it was the Tails Doll. This could be bigger than a couple Daft Punk wannabes who just trampled someone."

The Commander's voice came through on the other end. "Understood. If it's a rogue robot out on a killing spree, it should take priority over those mystery bots." The Commander's response was punctuated by the click that indicated a closed connection.

Simms gave a sigh of relief. He wasn't going to get stuck scrubbing toilets in the men's bathroom. While his synthetic feline partner was engaged in conversation with the two Hedgehogs, he kept an eye out for the Tails Doll. He enlisted with GUN to protect people, and protect he would. His right hand was placed firmly on his holstered military-grade pistol. He was ready to whip it out and blow the "doll's" transistors out as soon as it showed itself.

Outside Central City Bakery

The fog was thick; thick enough to affect even Dextetta's robotic eyes. The loud music, which sounded like Satan's rendition of an old pop song, caused her to become a little disoriented. She could barely hear her partner's voice through this booming noise, and she could barely make out his words. All she knew was that he was trying to ask a question.

"Private Simms, I can barely hear you. Can you repeat your question please?"

"Can I fry this freaky thing's circuits with my taser? Does it have enough power?" Simms asked, hoping he was close enough to the android that his words could pierce the disorienting mockery of music.

"Oh...The taser....Will it have enough power?" she repeated, hoping she heard at least some of the sentence.

"Yes. I need to know, Dextetta, and I need to know NOW!" Simms was getting panicked. This devilish music, this thick fog, and the screams of pain from cops all around him, were starting to get to him, and he could tell by the shakiness in his partner's voice that they were getting to her too.

Dextetta searched her database, fighting through the disruptive effects of the Tails Doll's otherworldly attack.

"Can you feel the sunshine? Does it brighten up your day?"

The song sounded like it was being played on a tape deck with a low battery, and these distorted vocals were accompanied by what sounded like the screams of tortured souls. Dextetta wouldn't let this get to her. Her partner depended on her, and she didn't want to let him down. She continued to search, hoping that one of those horrible screams was not the sound of Simms getting his throat slashed by this demented doll.

Nothing...No data. What would she tell Simms? Her best option was to tell him that she didn't know. "I am sorry, Private Simms," she replied, her voice shaky and barely audible. "I do not have data on that." This wouldn't help him. She knew it.

"I don't need to tell you you were wrong."

These words, sung by an old boy band, had been distorted to the point of being torturous, especially to an android whose sole purpose was to give information on Eggman's machines in order to help her comrades in GUN. The last thing she wanted was to be wrong.

Simms sighed. Dextetta wasn't going to be able to help him. She probably didn't know the answer to his question.

"Only one way to find out," he said to himself, turning the taser on to full power and thrusting it into the doll's side. He hoped for the best.
