Introduction

France, 1599.
He ran through the dark streets of Paris, homeward bound. He needed privacy, away from prying eyes. He ran, faster and faster, his breathing getting heavier as he went. Anticipation flooded through him. He looked ahead. He was almost there. The people around him cast him glances of resentment and confusion. He just ignored them. He was at his door. He burst into his house and shut the door.
He locked and barricaded it, doing the same to the windows. He went to his back room and lit a candle. He locked the door, found a place to sit, and sat. He pulled out an object wrapped in cloth from his tunic. He set the object down, unwrapping it. Inside was a piece of metal that emanated a powerful aura; a shard of the legendary sword Soul Edge. The man stroked the shard with greedy lust. He knew of no one else with something this valuable. And it was all his.
There was a loud crash at the front of his house. Had someone broken in? He stood up and turned to the door, just in time for someone to barge in through it. Standing there was a man in azure armor with a demonc arm, weilding a large blade with an eyeball in it's center: Soul Edge. The man's eyes grew wide and a large grin spread across his face. The sword spoke to him, evil, ominous words. The man stepped forward, reaching out for the blade, but was struck down by the man in armor.
He reached down and pried the shard of the Evil Blade from the dead man's tight grasp. The sword added the shard onto it, adding to it's destructive power. He turned to the door and left.
He now scours through the night, hungering for more power.
Searching for the evil power of Soul Edge.
You feel a presence in the air. A presence of great power.
And so it begins again.
A tale of souls and swords, eternally retold.

OOC Notes
He sat in the shrine of his mountain abode. He was meditating, channeling all of his chi through his body, trying to conentrate on restoring his body's full stamina. After a long day of training, he needed to recuperate. He reflected on his day, on all the training he had accomplished. He felt at ease, sitting there, deep in thought. The air was peaceful, still. He focued on the earth's energy flowing around him, absorbing it into his body, gathering strength from the land. He exhaled slowly.
And that's when he felt it.
A small, subtle ripple of disturbance. His eyes snapped open. He looked around him. His meditation had been interrupted by an entity of terrible energy. A great destructive power emnated through the air. But it couldn't be, he thought, No! He was sensing it: the malevolent energy that swallowed the souls of men. The same evil energy he had weilded long ago. The same energy he used to slaughter his entire clan.
Soul Edge.
He knew it's scent, and it's power. He was unable to deny it. Soul Edge had resurfaced. He stood, and began working on an intensive training regime. He had to feel his inner power. If this energy was in fact Soul Edge, he need to be prepared. He would spend the next three days training, in order to ready himself to destroy the evil blade.

Mana took a swig of wine from the jug the Emperor had given her along with a few other provisions that were to last her throughout the first week of her journey. She hiked up the treacherous mountain path and encountered a temple-like shrine which she thought to seek refuge.
As the girl progressed forward towards the shrine, ever cautious of danger, she couldn't help but feel a foreboding presence. Almost evil. She reached behind her back and gripped the hilt of her overly-large scythe; Mana then released the handle, thinking herself silly.
She paused on the stone floor, behind a severe looking man who seemed to be in deep thought. Mana raised her eyebrow and approached him silently, always keeping her eyes on the target for any signs of movement that may suggest a foe at hand.

Roshi's eyes snapped open. Someone was approaching. He sat and waited, allowing the new figure to reveal themselves. He felt the figure approach from behind him. A female, somewhere around nineteen. Roshi exhaled deeply. "Are you lost?" he asked her. He stood, still showing his back. "If you've come to rob me, I can assure you I have nothing of value. However, if you have come to rob me, you won't make it very far". He tensed his muscles. Roshi's skin was as hard as steel, able to deflect blades and pierce through armor.
He stood, facing the wall, waiting for the girl to make her move, hoping she'd make the right one.

OOC Notes
The spray of salt and water awoke Ken Arkady. He yawned and stretched as he sat up, having dozed off on the deck of the trading vessel he had bartered passage on. As he sat up and promptly nearly fell over, provoking a laugh or three from the crew. He was not one to get his sea legs fast, and would not keep them for long once he was back on land. Sea travel made him nervous, though he swam rather easily, the idea of a boat itself made him nervous. His hand wrapped around the cloth covered sheath of his katana, Split Dawn, and he sighed quietly, focusing himself and pushing the nervous thoughts down. Only another few hours and they would be in China, Shanghai to be precise. He would have to start walking then, buying what provisions he could with the money he had left. The captain had been a kind man and, once he had Ken's plight explained, promptly gave him passage in exchange for aid in running the ship rather then just a high price. Sure enough, he was called over to follow further orders, and another day of work began, even though it would be shorter since this was the last day of travel.
Several hours of hard work and they had reached the docks of Shanghai, and Ken rotated his shoulder, hearing said shoulder pop as he did. As soon as the gangplank was down, he was the first one off, watching the crowds around him as he strode down the largest street he could find. That was a lesson his father had taught him, follow the major roads to get around quickly, though smaller roads were necessary at times. He stopped at a small provisions stand, recommended to him by the trade vessel's crew, and got a map of China and surrounding nations and enough provisions to last a decent time for, while it was most of his money, a decent price. Thanking the merchant, he began walking down the road again, heading West for the European countries. He would begin his search there, both for his brother, which he had narrowed the mercenary trade name down to 'Desert Samurai' and the cursed sword. He had a feeling one would lead to the other, so West it was, it would be a long journey on foot.

OOC Notes
In the dead of night, the Parisian streets sturred with shouts of alarm. A mansion had been set ablaze, and its owner murdered. People gathered around as the fire squad worked to put out the fire. All around, people murmured questions and accusations, all coming up with their own theories to explain what had happened, exactly. While most were more or less clueless, there were those who recalled seeing a stranger earlier in the day. The stranger was from the Eastern half of Europe, and dressed in black armour. He certainly looked the villainous typed to most of the Parisian citizens, and some even mentioned him to the authorities, resulting in a Paris-wde manhunt for the Man in Black Armour.
Earlier that evening, Vasouvias Gran had cut his way past hired bodyguards and interrogated the owner of the mansion. He was convinced the mansion held a connection to Soul Edge, and was determined to get his answer no matter whom he had to kill, "S-Soul Edge?" whimpered the nobleman after revealing what he knew about the sword, "That iz a cursed blade, miseur! Ze man who dares wield it damns his soul to Hell forever!"
"Ha Ha Ha!" responded Gran in an amused laughed, "I am bound for Hell's fire," he said, raising Heaven's Scourge in a poise to attack, "therefore my soul is of no consequence..."
The French man trembled, his lips quivering, "Please, miseur! 'Av merc--UGH" he was cut off by the blade cutting his throat, dead before hitting the floor.
"Mercy?" Gran asked the corpse before purposely kocking over a candle onto a curtain to start the fire, "What folly. Mercy is for cowards who fear Death's toll."
As the building burned around him, Gran's figure walked calmly outside and out of sight, "Ha Ha Ha!" his amused laugh echoed throughout darkness of the Parisian streets. Gran was out of Paris long before the manhunt started. He had left Paris immediately after making his "inquery" and was now bound for the East. He had learned of a Temple which housed his next lead in finding Soul Edge. Gran was outside of Paris when he stopped momentarily. He looked back at Paris, still able to see smoke rising from the fire he had started.
"So long as Soul Edge eludes my grasp, none shall be spared Heaven's Scourge. I will cut down the mightiest of kings or the youngest of children to obtain my revenge! Any who would dare stand in my way shall feel my wrath..."

( Sorry for the late post )
Mana took a step forward, unaware of the potential danger; she greatly resented talking to his back and tried to get even the tiniest peek of his face. Failing greatly, the girl frowned and looked at the broken, tiled ground beside her. "No need to be so guarded, stranger. I've been traveling for quite a while and my supplies are low.. I have come here to seek refuge," Mana replied slowly, a bit irritated at his guarded pose.

Re: [OOC] Soul Calibur: Legacies
Oh, Rly?
:I I'm either just really dumb or I don't pay attention enough in social studies.
Either way, thanks for the correction and the compliment. xD

I like your character Phoenix.
But for future reference, Rome is ruled by emperors, not kings.
Lol.

Re: [OOC] Soul Calibur: Legacies
Dx Nevermind. I give up on a game character. I was gonna play XiangHua, but then I looked into her history and it was really complicated because she also appeared in other games. :P
I'll just go along with an original character. -.-

Re: [OOC] Soul Calibur: Legacies
Currently playing SC2 on Playstation ^.^
Outdated is still fun.
And yes, you can be someone from the game, but make sure you have the info on that character right.

Re: [OOC] Soul Calibur: Legacies
Cool. I'm a grave fan of Soul Calibur. I have ALL games (including Soul Blade), but not Soul Calibur.
I'll add my profile in a minute.

Re: [OOC] Soul Calibur: Legacies
Disclaimer: I have played plenty of Soul Calibur IV multiplayer at a friend's house, and I've recently been playing Soul Calibur Legends. (I'm almost halfway through it.) Suffice to say that I am not very knowlegable about this mythos. I'll try my best, though.
Re: [OOC] Soul Calibur: Legacies
Sounds interesting. I'll see if I can get a profile submitted soon.
