Description

Name
Hanan Cessair Luciano Mayer

Age
15

Gender
Male

Role
Meister

Personality
Hanan (pronounced hay-nin) is, in a word, bipolar. His first personality is used at least 90% of the time. This is the soft-spoken, introverted, paranoid Hanan. He is spooked easily, as he is deathly afraid of ghosts. Don't get him wrong, though. He's got quite an ego. That comes from his history of trying to prove himself to others. He often looks down on people, but won't say anything about it. That's him 90% of the time. The other 10% percent is special, as it is only triggered when his hat is removed. This him is angry, spiteful, and vicious. Willing to harm others to please himself. But that's only 10% of Hanan. Thank God. On a last note, he plays the violin quite excellently.

Quirks
Hanan's bipolarity, for one, sets him apart. Also, he is rather twitchy due to his belief that he's being stalked by ghosts. He likes to hide in corners or little nooks, as they make him feel safer for some odd reason. He also refuses to remove his hat under any circumstances.

Likes
  • His violin
  • His hat
  • Animals
  • Rain
  • Hiding

Dislikes
  • Ghosts
  • His height
  • Losing his hat
  • Jerks
  • His parents

History
Hanan's heritage is strange. His mother was a weapon, and his father was a weapon as well. The thing was, his father was technically 3/4 weapon, as his father was a weapon and his mother a weapon with a Meister parent. Thus, Hanan was technically supposed to be born a weapon. But apparently, he inherited the small Meister gene, turning him into a Meister instead of a weapon. Being the only Meister in the family, Hanan was unofficially disowned by his parents and four older siblings, all weapons. Therefore, he decided he had to prove to his prejudiced family that being a Meister didn't make him inferior. He received a hat one day for his ninth birthday, and wore it all the time. He felt it was the only thing he really owned in that house, and treasured it. Whenever it was removed due to teasing or whatever, he freaked out. And thus, his other 10% was created.

During his childhood, he'd often wander the huge house, sometimes ending up in places he didn't even know existed. It was here that he saw a ghost for the first time. It was dreadful. Scared him to death. He didn't dare tell anyone about it; he was hated enough already. But still, his paranoia had been triggered, altering the personality he has today.

He began playing the violin when he was twelve. It was a way to calm himself down after a run-in with that horrid ghost or a bout of teasing from his siblings, or perhaps even after his hat was removed. After a while, he grew better at it until he started playing on the streets for money. His dream was to earn enough eventually to move away from his horrible family.

A guy can dream, right?

Motivation
"My close-minded family needs to be proven to that just because I'm not a weapon doesn't mean I'm completely useless. I'll show them."

Lord Death stood in the Death Room, humming an upbeat tune as he thought to himself. It was the first day of the school year! New students, starting their journey to becoming the great heroes of the world! It made the Reaper giddy to think of all the good his school was doing. He knew that at the moment, weapons and Meister who didn't yet have partners would be milling around the courtyard, building relationships and partnerships. Ah, young heroes! They knew what they had to do. Finding a partner was like a turning point in a young weapon or meister's life. The Reaper kept humming. What an adventure they had in store for them!

~~

Ena frowned as she paced about the courtyard, dodging other students as they milled about, chatting or wandering around or whatever. She knew she should be getting around to find a weapon but... she was worried. Worried about her father and grandmother, who she'd left at home less than an hour before. She'd been there for them all summer, but now? She was worried about how they'd get along while she was at school. Of course, she always came home in the evening, but what if something happened when she wasn't there? An elderly woman and a paraplegic alone together? In a house full of potentially harmful objects? Ena stopped pacing and turned. She lifted her leg and planted a boot-clad foot on a railing and looked out over Death City. She tugged on her headband once and blinked. A smile spread across her face. Why was she so worried? That paraplegic was an ex-cop! And that old woman was a complete badass! Why was she worried? Ena laughed to herself. Today was gonna kick ass.

~~

Hanan looked up at the large, magnificent school. Death Weapon Meister Academy. The DWMA. Despite the fact that he was very excited about his new school, his face was emotionless as ever. He took a couple steps into the courtyard, almost pushed over by some students running around like wild animals. Oh dear. What fun this would be. He pulled his hat down farther on his head and straightened his golden "Meister" tag. He looked around. So many people... His eyes widened. What if the ghost had stalked him all the way to school? Shivering slightly, he yanked on the side of his hat for comfort and weaved through the crowd of students, looking for a place to hide.

~~

Little Nin sat in front of the mirror. Except, she didn't see her reflection. This was no ordinary mirror. With it, (and Maki-sama's permission, of course) she could see anywhere she wanted. Well, there was a catch. Now, she was gazing at the DWMA from a bird's eye view. Well, that was the catch of the mirror. It only saw what the bird saw. At this moment, a raven was flying around the school, feeding the view back to the mirror, back to Nin.

Everything seemed normal at the school. Nin rose from her position of kneeling on a pillow and set off, dancing about the ginormous castle, leaving flower petals behind her bare footsteps. After almost getting lost at least twice, she ended up at the door to Maki's room. It opened before her, as though welcoming her in. It was a large, dark room. It was so high, Nin couldn't see the ceiling. At the far end, in a large, ornate bed, sitting cross-legged, was the witch. As Nin made her way to Maki, the older witch spoke to her.

"So, Nin, anything of interest?"

Nin kneeled at the foot of the bed and shook her head, whipping her dark hair about. "Nope. Everything looks normal, Maki-sama."

The witch nodded. "Very well. Thank you, Nin. Now run along while I do some thinking."

As the little girl nodded and left, Maki looked up into the shadowy top of the room. She had a plan. But it wasn't yet solid...

Rory's dream had not ended when he woke that morning and dragged himself from bed. It had not ceased in time for him to brush his teeth or as he got ready for school. His dream lasted through the walk to Shibusen and through a professor handing him a Meister tag. Soon, though, it faded as the main character in the dream fell in the river which had separated her village from another one she was warring with. Rory's face twisted into a slightly saddened, displeased expression as he slipped back into reality. That had been the last in a long sequence of dreams about that girl. And it had just ended. He'd be lucid for a while, then. He'd particularly liked those dreams. He looked down through the fluff in his hoodie and smiled at his little Meister tag. He'd talk to all the weapons he possibly could and he'd definitely find his destined weapon partner today. Definitely. No questions. And he'd take such good care of them, he thought, he'd make sure they ate and slept and studied for exams and they'd be the best of friends. He was sure of it.

December was on the prowl. His Weapon tag askew, he was going for the disheveled bad boy look today, dark brown hair pulled back in a sloppy ponytail, he had his always present smirk on his face, his cocky smile which people just tended to love. He noticed a tall boy wearing a hat and grinned, then slouched over, the epitome of nonchalance and mildly dangerous pride. He stopped in front of Hanan.
"Hey. I see you're a Meister. I've got something you can wield all day if you want," he purred, flashing a wink at the other boy. This behavior was normal for him, and probably why he didn't have a Meister yet, but all the same. Flirting made him happy. Gave him a little rush of accomplishment every time he got a reaction and a big one with every reaction he got from one of the more challenging people to seduce. He felt like Shibusen was going to be the perfect place to play with people like that, too. He was going to have a fun year.

Image

Omega sat on a bench outside of the DWMA, watching for all the Meister tags he could possibly find. He'd worn a suit. He wanted to make a good impression, after all. An almost-emotionless scowl took over his features. He straightened his tie, sharp teeth touching his bottom lip lightly. To be quite honest, this was the day his entire life was leading up to. The day he'd find a Meister. He was nervous and it was nearly showing. His dark, wavy hair, had been brushed into submission and considering how many times he'd straightened that tie, it was probably the straightest tie in the universe. He continued nervously pressing his sharp teeth to his lip, making sure not to break the skin, even if inside his emotions were raging in a crazy, confused panic of the importance of this day. He didn't know how he would survive the rest of it if he was honest with himself, with all the stress he was under.

"Hey. I see you're a Meister. I've got something you can wield all day if you want," some kid, who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, said to him and winked. Hanan barely stopped himself from jumping eight feet into the air and crying out in surprise. But his mouth did open a little. He stayed silent as his deep blue eyes raked over the other boy, analyzing him. He looked sloppy and, frankly, unappealing. No wonder no one else was talking to him. Hanan wasn't surprised the guy didn't even have a meister! Good fucking luck! He sighed inwardly. Hanan's bipolarity sometimes got the best of his thoughts. Every so often, his other 10% worked its way to his mind.

Turning his attention back to the boy, he scowled. He knew this guy's type, and he didn't like it. So, he frowned a bit deeper and pushed past the boy, one hand on his hat and the other in his pocket. He knew the best thing to do was ignore him. At least, he thought so. Something like that. At least the boy's obnoxiousness had pushed back the paranoia for the most part. Even so, Hanan was starting to question how this day would turn out for him.

~~

Ena pushed away from the ornate railing and turned to start pacing some more. She kept her eyes on the sky. She noticed a bird circling the school, like it was some kind of dead, decaying anima-

Slam! Her face hit the ground, hard. She scrambled to her feet and looked down. She'd tripped over someone. What the hell? She rubbed her cheek which was promptly turning a painful red. "Son of a bitch..." she murmured as she looked closer at the person she tripped over. It was a girl, with brown hair that covered one of her eyes. She had a long scarf and some kind of bat plushie thing. Ena curiously stepped closer to the girl and sat down by where her head lay.

"Uh... Why you're laying on the ground?"

~~

Death turned around and saw Grimm. "Ah, Alabastor! Late as ever I see. You're lucky I'm in a good mood today!" he greeted the professor with mock irritation. "Today is a very big day indeed! Can you feel it, Grimm? We've got us a very special bunch here today. Full of diversity! It's amazing, really. It's going to be a very very VERY big year, professor," the Reaper laughed. "You of all people should be excited. After all, this lively bunch will be in your class."

Ena took the girl's arm and yanked her up off the ground. She was an odd one, Ena thought. Cool eyes, though. She smiled lightly as the girl introduced herself. "Double-bladed scythe? Kick ass. My dad has a weapon friend from Reno who's kind of like that, except he's wicked scary lookin'. I don't wanna go into detail, but yeah... Anyways," she said, sticking out a gloved hand for a shake. "Nice ta meet yeh, Amanda. Name's Ena Levine. Yeah, I'm a meister. First in my family. At least, as far as I know. My parents were cops. We're from Vegas. How bout you?"

~~

Hanan turned his head just in time to see a rather petite little kid hollering at some guy. Apparently, the small kid was a guy. Not that Hanan had any trouble noticing. He had a perceptive outlook on people. It was just his thing. So, the boy ran off, sobbing, and just happened to go in Hanan's general direction. Might as well start making friends now. Perfect opportunity, I'll say. As the boy was about to run by him, he gently took hold of his shoulder.

"Hey, hey," he said to the boy, taking his hand off the boy's shoulder and placing it in his own hat. "Calm down. Jerks exist." He shrugged here. "What're you gonna do? But there's no need for for all the drama. I mean, I'm not one for theatrics, and I don't wanna sound like I'm judging you or anything, cause I'm not, but-" Oh sweet Death, he was rambling. He tugged his hat, trying not to appear too awkward. Hanan shrugged again. "Eh, forget what I said. I'm socially awkward. Anyways," he stuck out his hand for a shake. "I'm Hanan Mayer, the socially awkward meister. And you?"

~~

The Reaper remained silent for a few moments, then heaved a sigh. "Well, I'm not going to lie, Alabastor. You got me there. Actually, what's bothering me might not be anything at all, you see. It's the witches. We haven't seen any activity from them in months. I'm starting to get a little paranoid, to be honest. I keep wondering if they could be planning something... Oh well. Thanks for hearing me out, Grimm. I just wanted it off my chest, is all. But I'm sure it's nothing."

Lau was still silently sobbing to himself as he was almost practically molested by those stupid meister guys. He kept yelling in his thought until he was stopped by a hand on his shoulder. When he stopped his sobbing, he got a better look at the guy. The guy was taller than him, but most people were. The thing that was interesting to him was the hat and the other's way of talking. He listened to Hanan speak, actually feeling a bit better. Glad to know some of these jerks are not molesters. He giggled a little when Hanan called himself socially awkward. He blushed faintly and shook his hand too. "I'm Lau Liu, the crossdressing weapon. Nice to meet you Hanan."

After that being said, he retreated his hand and looked away a bit, brushing some of his hair behind his ear.

[its all good, Prin. like I said in the rules, dialogue posts can be short]

Ena watched the lad go with a smile on her face. She turned to Amanda. "Nice guy, right?" Then, she thought about what Dante had said about finding a partner. Duh. Ena sighed. Might as well throw it out there. Besides, I'd she was rejected, well, there were always others... right?

So, she put her hands on her hips and smiled lazily at Amanda. "You know what? We're both pretty crazy. Wanna be my weapon, Amanda?"

~~

Hanan smiled down at the smaller boy. He hadn't flipped out like he'd been half expecting him to. He actually seemed pretty comfortable. Well, compared to a few moments ago. Hanan took that as a good sign. He had to admit, Lau was friendlier (if you could say that) than most people he'd met. Including, of course, his family. And he'd only known him for all of thirty seconds. Damn, Hanny.

"Lau? That's a nice name." He kept a hand on his hat as a small, warm breeze blew. "No really, I like it." Hanan, you are the most awkward piece of shit ever to exist. Say something cool, dammit!

"Uh... So Lau, I see you're a weapon. Mind if I ask what kind?"

Lau giggled again, smiling truly for a second. He liked the awkward boy more and more, he was actually quite nice compared to most people the crossdressing boy encountered. "Thanks...No one has really commented on my name before,"he said with a faint blush. And it was true. People usually comment on his, well, body than his name like what's under the dress or stuff like that. It annoyed him beyond angry, but taking his pride he would usually send said person to the hospital. That was one thing he was known for.

"Uh... So Lau, I see you're a weapon. Mind if I ask what kind?" Lau blinked before smirking slightly, coming off more as a cute smile than a sexy smirk. He held out his hand in a obliviously suggestive way, as if say hold my hand. "Would you like to try and find out?" He knows that might of came out the wrong way, but he really didn't mean to. Hurrying up and grabbing Hanan's hand, he quickly transformed into his weapon. The small hand that was in Hanan's turned into a small, but very long silver chain that piled at the floor and carried on into Hanan's other hand, which held a fairly large sickle. From the shine of the sun, it hit the sickle and you could see Lau's reflection. "Like what you see?" That also sounded very wrong, but he just blushed it off, waiting for the meister's reaction.

Ena nodded at Gunner and Omega after Amamda introduced herself. She stuck her gloved hands into her pockets and grinned some more, tilting her head forward slightly as she spoke. "Ena Levine. Pleasure ta meet yeh, Gunner an' Omega." She paused to tighten her headband. "Clay pigeons, huh? Damn yew seem excited." That grin of hers remained. "I'd be happy to chuck some around. Work out my arm."

~~

Hanan blinked his deep blue eyes at the weapon he then held. He'd seen this type of weapon before. It was Japanese. Ku... Kusarigama. Yeah. That was it. Hanan smiled softly as he saw Lau's reflection in the charming metal of the sickle. "Like what you see?" Hanan's smile widened a fraction as he detected the boy's slight blush. "Yeah. I do. A lot," he replied, trying to sound as least suggestive as possible. He twirled the chain around with his right hand, getting a feel for it. "This is really cool, Lau. I've never met a weapon like you before. All my familt's swords and stuff. You're different. I like it." He tried not to end too awkwardly.

Lau sort of blushed a bit more at Hanan's comment, knowing he wasn't trying to sound suggestive at all. He bit his lip, hoping his reflection wasn't seen. "Yeah, my chain can grow in length, so that's a plus." He smiled slightly, but like before, it was gone. He nodded as he listened to the meister. Not wanting to turn back yet because Hanan looked so happy holding a weapon that wasn't a sword. He smiled again, but it was held there. "If you want...um...,"he blushed once again, but darker than before. "C-can you be my...m-meister?" He looked away and finally hiding his reflection, feeling embarrassed.

Hanan blinked a few times as Lau hid his reflection and asked him the question. The question. Well, not the question question. But a pretty damn big question. The all-important irrevocable question that affected two lives. Hanan was pretty sure that he was overthinking it. So, to ease tension, he smiled softly at the turned away image of the smaller boy with a small laugh of contentedness. “That’d be great, Lau. Sweet, actually. I’d love to be your meister. You’re a pretty cool kid.” He smiled some more, awaiting Lau’s reaction. Hanan sort of spaced out, as he was prone to doing, and tugged on his hat once more. As he was half in his own world, he wondered what it would to be like to weild such a weapon in every battle to come. He wondered how exciting it would be. Of course, battles themselves were supposed to be exhiliarating within themselves. His shiver was almost visible. Excitement helped take his mind off of… the ghost. Eugh.

"That'd be great, Lau. Sweet, actually. I'd love to be your meister. You're a pretty cool kid."

Lau felt his face heat up a bit. No one has ever complimented him that much before. The pretty cool comment was something he never thought of himself, thinking he was more feminine and stubborn than cool. He smiled as he transformed back into his body, being in weapon form with Hanan holding him was a little embarrassing to him. Though, as he transformed back, he was in his now meister's arms. It was warm, but of course Lau's face turned red as he hurried out of the arms, holding his arms as he tried to composed himself. Afterwards he stood up straight and smiled at Hanan. "Awesome." His smiled stayed this time as he held onto his meister's arm and giggled softly. "Now I have a meister." He smiled some more until he looked up at Hanan, feeling something was wrong when he shivered. "Is everything okay, master?" He tilted his head for the emphasis, making him seem a bit cute. In his mind, he was all over the place. He was angry for acting this way, but was relaxed with the other. Just something about Hanan, made him feel...safe. And Lau never feels safe.

Hanan smiled slightly and softened his grip as his new weapon transformed back into his human form. It was a tad awkward when he ended up acutally holding Lau, but his partner quickly stepped away from his grip. ”Awesome. Now I have a meister,” he said as he held onto Hanan’s arm, giggling softly and Hanan felt himself go involuntarily pink as he smiled back. Despite his outwardly happy appearance, the meister was still on edge. In so large a place, fillied to the brim with the living, what were the odds that there were no… undead entities lurking about? "Is everything okay, master?" He blinked a couple times, as if waking from a trance. “What? Oh... no. Nothing.” He smiled at Lau. “And just ‘Hanan’ will be fine. Or, if you want, Hanny.” He shrugged and put his hands in his pockets. He hadn’t really thought of Hanny before, but it sounded pretty nice.
