Introduction

In the year 2456, the technology of the world is at it's prime. Life couldn't be easier. In surgery, doctors are trained to work with a machine that does the surgery for them, erasing human error. There is no need for real actors anymore, because any movie created with graphics is just as real and even more fantastic than a human movie. Cars, trains, buses, planes, and any other vehicle are driven by machines, erasing the danger of travel. All that's left for humans is to work, which is very easy given the technology operated world, and enjoy life. They don't even have to worry about their health, because humans now sleep in a tube-like bed that fixes the body while they are sleeping, getting rid of excess body fat, erasing blemishes, toning muscles, repairing damages, etc. Even incurable diseases such as STDs and cancer have all been cured. All that is left for the human race is to look forward to new forms of entertainment. Because of this obsession with new entertainment, when the new virtual reality, Nemar, came out, tickets for the first play were extremely hard to get. In fact, there were only 20 virtual reality centers allowed to open Nemar on the opening day, and only 10 people could enter each facility. In total, that meant only 200 people int he world could play Nemar the day it opened. Why the screaming popularity? It wasn't that Nemar was a virtual reality game that made it so important. Virtual reality systems had been available in the home for cheap for over 300 years. No. Nemar was something special but, strangely, no one knew exactly why. The details of the game were kept absolutely top secret.

On the opening day, people were celebrating with gusto. Crowds gathered outside the designated virtual reality centers in hopes of grabbing any last minute openings or just to watch the large screens outside to see what was going on in the game. A special tv program was even opened up, so people could watch the happenings in the first game on their own home television. The owners of the 200 spots all went to their places at 11:00 am in order to create their custom-made characters before the game began. At exactly noon of the opening day, the 200 people were thrown into the world of Nemar. However, the moment the 200 players were put into the game, a tragedy happened, a glitch. Something jumped into the system and trapped the 200 people in the game. Unlike a typical game with a limited amount of lives, Nemar had an unlimited amount of lives. However, each time a player lost a life, they would lose everything and have to begin again. Unfortunately, the players trapped in the game face a dangerous situation. They must finish the game, and soon, because if they lose their lives 3 times in this short-circuited game, the glitch in the system will destroy their subconscious, and the player in question will become brain dead.

When the announcement is made to the players of the game, the entire world is watching and learns of the tragedy as well. The players must defeat the game to escape, and now, all the world stares riveted at the tv screens to see if the players can win and save themselves.

(The roleplay will begin as the announcement is being made. You are limited to 3 characters in this game, but only one of them can be a player. The other 2 can only be NPCs of the game. This will be explained later. Also, I, myself, will have an extra character that will be called Nemar. The posts from this character will be in bold and all caps. When this character makes a post, it's an announcement from the creators of Nemar to the players of the game...and, I suppose, the world audience.)

Details of Nemar:

Nemar is a world subdivided into three continents, as well as three races. The first 200 players of Nemar create characters based on their characters heritage. Each country is distinct in their features and abilities. They are as follows:

Unda:
Unda is more like a large mass of islands. The largest island is the land that is connected to Terra and moves right into the rolling mountains. Unda is made up of cities above and below the water. The population of Undans is mostly underwater, though, because that is where it is safer, easier, and more profitable to live. Safer because it is easier to defend their country underwater, where no other creatures can attack them. Easier because there are more resources underneath the water than above on the collection on islands. More profitable because as far as trading with other countries goes, the resources the other countries need the most are the resources they cannot reach, the ones in the sea. As far as geography goes, there is only a single city on the main island, Rinage. It is a port city and is the avenue of business between Unda and the other countries. It is a city of trade and bustling business, but few Undans actually live their. Instead, most live in the largest city in all of Unda, which is out in the sea just beyond reach of the residents of the Rinage. The capitol is called Seliar. Other than those two cities, the rest of Unda is a sprinkle of cities on land and in the sea. Undan is ruled by a king and queen who live in Seliar.
Undans are aquatic and land creatures, meaning their organs and body structure allow them to live fore long periods of time above and below the surface of the water. It is very difficult to fight Undans for that reason. They can escape into water and can attack you on land. They are the only creatures in all of Nemar that can breathe underwater. However, there is a plant that grows beneath the sea, so deep into the water that only the Undans can access it. If harvested and fed to a non-Undan, it can temporarily give another the ability breathe underwater, but the plant is scarce and rarely given. As far as appearances go, Undans look like humans with a few distinct differences. They have blue-tinted skin similar to a dolphin's in that it becomes slick in the water, but when an Undan lives above water, their skin becomes like a human's, soft and dry. Their eyes range from blue to green and sometimes silver, if they have royal blood. Their hair is left to grow out long, and it is generally coarse and thick. It can be curly or straight, but their hair is almost always black. They dress in bikini-like-wraps that are easy to swim and walk in. They can also communicate with sea creatures. They don't speak to them, but they come to an understanding by sending emotional signals to them. They also have webbed hands and feet.

Terra:
Terra is a mountainous land that is very hard to travel through unless accompanied by a Terran. There are, of course, paths outside and inside the mountains, but the paths outside are for non-Terrans alone. Terrans are the miners of Nemar, and their business is in precious gems and ores. They are also considerably skilled blacksmiths. Terra's cities are all found deep within the mountains. (When you are trying to imagine it, I think think the thing that comes closest as far as structure is the dwarves mines in Lord of the Rings). Terra is ruled by a council of the eldest Terrans. The largest mountain in Terra, Sumuh, is where the reside and conduct business.
Terrans are large creatures, probable 8 feet on average and very muscular. Their eyes are small and sensitive to light but very sharp. Their sharp eyesight can have them actually see through rock to where they need to mine. Their skin is very hard, almost like the rock they mine, and the way to tell the difference between male and female by sight is skin color. Women are light-colored rock, and men are dark-colored rock. They dress in layers and layers of clothing that can be removed or added, depending on the temperature of the mine. Their feet, however, are tough enough to not need shoes. Their eyes are brown or black, and their hair is generally cropped short and reddish in color. That goes for both sexes. They are formidable for their strength.

Caelum:
Caelum is a floating mass of land high above Terra and Unda. There are break-offs, smaller pieces of land floating along beside them, but those are for farming alone. Caelians live on the main mass of the island. Caelum is an agricultural country. Their land, high above, is rich with magically endless nutrients. They can grow and grow forever without running out. Caelum can only be reached if a Cealian transports a non-Caelian there. Obviously, Caelum's business comes from their agriculture. Caelum is very low in population, only about a few hundred, so it is a complete Republic. Everyone votes, and everyone has a say. They have meetings every once and a while to keep everything in order.
Caelians are angel-like creatures. They are tall, though not as tall as Terrans. On average, they are about 6 foot. They all have golden hair and golden eyes, and they all have an affinity with nature. That is why their plants grow so well. Each Caelian has a set of angel wings that can spread out to wingspans of 12 feet or be tightly pulled flat against their backs. All of their wings have different colored feather though, and the closer they are to gold, the better. Caelians are very snobbish by nature and consider themselves the best.

The Game:

The point of the game is war. The Caelians have had enough of living with existences so beneath them and have decided to try and enslave the Terrans and the Undans. Naturally, they fight back, but the war is disrupting the balance Nemar had always operated on, and the world is slowly becoming chaos. The 200 players win by reaching 10,000 points. Nemar is meant to be an endless game, but for now, 10,000 points is enough to escape the glitch. Points are earned by completing missions that prevent war and promote peace, so the balance of Nemar can be restored. If a player dies, they lose all their points, and if they die 3 times, they die completely. If you a roleplay a character that dies completely, you are more than welcome to create a new one. We have 200 positions available for players after all, and an infinite amount of positions open for NPCs. Every once and a while, the character Nemar will announce where all the characters stand points-wise.

NPCs:
Because of the glitch, some of the stronger NPCs have gained their own self-conscious, instead of being computer programmed. There NPCs can help or hinder the players, but they do not have the overall goal of being freed. If a NPC is killed, it is reset, meaning that it starts wherever it started before without any memory of what happened in it's past 'life'. The reset does not, however, erase the self-awareness brought by the glitch.

Regina glanced into the sky as the message played. She narrowed her eyes in confusion. Glitch? Stuck? Just when she'd been getting in character too. She frowned, glancing back at her tutor. She'd been in fencing lessons on land, and it was obvious that her tutor, just a figment of the game, had not heard the message. what should she do? How was she supposed to get 10,000 points that quickly. She'd been planning on playing the game with leisure. Now that urgency had been forced into her lap, she wasn't sure how to go about finishing. As she mused over what to do, a maid approached and curtsied.

"The King has asked to see you, miss," she said softly, obviously a shy one. Regina nodded her understanding, put her things away and walked to the ocean, diving in without hesitation. Her clothes and hair billowed around her, but she ignored in and kept swimming. It wasn't too long before she reached Seliar and then the palace. She knew where her father would be, his study, probably swimming about impatiently until she arrived. She wondered what he wanted.

Archos swam nervously about, wanting Regina to arrive faster. He had heard the announcement and knew he would need to help her, though she would expect that he hadn't heard. Actually, he had felt the glitch before they had announced it. It was what had made him realize that he needed to protect Regina and help her along on her quest. Even if it was fake, Regina was his daughter, and he couldn't allow her to come to harm. A page announced his daughter's arrival, and Regina came swimming in, looking as ethereal as ever with her billowing clothes and hair trailing behind her. She swam right up to him and gave him a kiss.

"What's wrong, daddy?" she said, pulling at his heartstrings.

"Regina," he announced, "You need to go on a diplomatic mission."

Andelin blinked for a moment as he paused in thought. A glitch? But these games were supposed to be tested so this type of thing wouldn't happen! He grimaced in pain as he felt a shield drive itself into his face. He groaned and fell to the ground.

"You need to pay attention, little brother," his brother, Ermeus teased him with a grin, offering him his hand. Andelin nodded, taking his brother's hand as his character's memories flashed through his mind. Ermeus had always been there for him, even after their mother died. His discipline was atrocious and he told bad jokes, but Andelin loved him. His brother continued, "Father, I mean, Captain Elian wants to see you for some reason. You better go."

Andelin nodded at him and spoke, "Just don't get attacked by a bunch of Terrans while I'm gone."

"Oh, I can take them on! They wouldn't be so tough up here above their lands," he told him cheerfully.

As Andelin ran for the guardhouse, two thoughts were going through his mind. One, that he could die, and two, he better see his father quickly if he didn't want to be yelled at.

Atri looked around her, frowning deeply as she took in the scenery around her. Her father sat in a chair opposite her, reading some sort of book that she wasn't interested in, while she had absolutely nothing to do. Wasn't a parent supposed to entertain their daughter on days like these, when something this serious happened? Weren't they supposed to tell them things that would calm her down?

"Father," Atri said impatiently, tapping her foot on the ground. When he didn't look up, she said again, "Father!" Her voice was a little more harsh now as she looked down at him from where she stood.

"Yes, Atri?" he asked without looking up.

"Father, did you hear that message?" she demanded, her voice turning to anger due to her impatience and fear at what she had just heard. "There's a glitch - a glitch! How can there be a glitch?!"

"Well, I don't know," her father answered, his tone the complete opposite of hers. He didn't seem to care at all! "Maybe the people who created this place didn't anticipate something like this."

"Well that's obvious!" Atri snapped at him as she first looked around, and then paced in a circle, her long white dress trailing behind her. "Don't you think that's obvious? Otherwise this wouldn't have happened!" She turned on her father now, angrily striding toward him once again, and as she stood before him she tore the object out of his hands and held it in front of his face. "Why don't you just get up and do something?! Insteady, you're just sitting here, reading this ridiculous book!" Now, with that last final comment, she tossed the book into the fire and watched it burn.

Regina was taken aback. She had distinctly heard her father say diplomatic mission, but that didn't make any sense. Caelum was at war with all of Neram, and the Terrans and Undans had never really had a need to contact each other for anything other than trade. Terrans and Undans could hide from the Caelians' declaration of war, so they also really didn't need to form an alliance against Caelum, so any diplomatic mission didn't make any sense.

"What do you mean, Father?" she asked in confusion. She knew he would understand her question, so she just stood and waited for his answer. At least, she thought to herself, if she did go out, she would have more of a chance to earn points.

Archos watched his daughter as she obediently waited for his explanation. This player, his Regina, whoever this person could be, knew him very well. He smiled to himself as he saw the thoughts going through her head. Obviously, he knew her well too. His daughter...his daughter in danger of death. Archos' smile froze and disappeared. He needed to protect her.

"It's a strange sort of diplomatic mission," he explained, glancing towards the door. That blasted medicine man should be here by now. "One of our citizens, the famous medicine man Curos Atus, has found another special plant in our oceans. Rather, he's known it for a while, but he just recently found out what it could do. I think it could help us a lot. Now, if he could just get here, I could explain all of it to you." Archos glanced angrily at the door again. They couldn't waste any time."

Curos swam with all his might. He'd been perfecting the potion the king wanted all night and had lost track of time. Now, he knew he was late and worried he had angered the King. When he arrived at the palace, Curos barely took time to catch his breath before rushing into the King's room. The King, obviously a bit angry, gave Curos a cursory nod of greeting, causing Curos to cringe inwardly. That's when he noticed the other person in the room. As the princess turned to see who had entered, Curos stopped in his tracks. He'd seen Regina for the first time when he was young. He'd been collecting plants when he heard her laughter and looked up just in time to see her swim by. At that time, just like now, his breath caught at the sight of her ethereal beauty.

Catching himself, Curos quickly bowed to the King and Princess to recover before showing them his face. When he stood straight again, the King was looking at him with a strange, amused face. The King must have seen, but it didn't look like the Princess had, so Curos sighed in relief. It was okay if the King knew. It wasn't a secret, but Curos would have been embarrassed if the Princess had figured out his secret crush.

When Archos saw the medicine man, no, boy's, flustered behavior, he was taken aback. He hadn't known that Curos had even really seen Regina, let alone loved her, but it was wonderful news. If the medicine man truly loved his daughter, he would do all he could to help protect her, which was good. Archos couldn't leave his kingdom to accompany his daughter in her dangerous quest, but now, he wouldn't have to worry as much.

"All right," he began happily, his mood improved, "Now that you both are here, I will explain the mission. Regina, Curos came to me about a week ago with a potion made from a plant he had found. The properties were unlike anything he'd seen, and after experimenting a bit, he found that, if made into a potion, the plant could change the appearance of the drinker." Archos' eyes sparkled as he paused, allowing the information to sink in. "I have heard a rumor that not all Caelians are in favor of the war. You, Regina, and you, Curos, will go to Caelum under the guise of a Caelian caused by the potion and find a way to stop this war using those Caelians as support. Do you understand?"

Andelin raised an eyebrow as he entered the guardhouse. Sure enough, there was his father, Captain Aurelius, yelling at a few poor recruits. It seemed that one or more of them fell asleep on duty. Andelin felt a twinge of sympathy for them. There was nothing his father hated more than soldier under his command neglecting his duty.

Eventually, they were dismissed and it was just Andelin and his father. He stood at attention and waited for him to start. Captain Aurelius Elian was a hard man with a weather-beaten face and a scar sliding diagonally across his left cheek. He was a hard man to please, but he did have a softer side which he revealed only when one of his sons did something that made him proud of and to his wife, when she was alive.

At last, the elder Caelian spoke, "War preparations are under way. It seems that our People has made up their mind. For good or bad, we must do our duty."

Andelin grimaced. He only nodded and murmured, "Mother wouldn't have approved."

Aurelis frowned at his son, "Majority rules, soldier. A Caelum soldier always does his duty. Your shift is over. Dismissed."

Andelin nodded, leaving his father's prescence with a salute. There had to be something he could do, whatever it was.

Regina glanced around the workshop with a small frown on her face. When her father had given her the orders to go to the surface, she had known better than to object, so she had kept her disagreements to herself. At first, she had been heavily against it, but she'd been thinking about it since they left. If she went, she would have many chances to earn points and win the game. While she liked her persona in Nemar, she would prefer not to become brain dead. Now, as she sat in Curos' workshop, she was completely okay with the mission, though she still couldn't understand why her father, the king, would send his only heir and daughter behind enemy lines.

"So how does this work exactly?" she asked, dragging her fingers across a counter top. After she sent another cursory glance about the room, she turned around and faced Curos with attentive eyes.

Curos fidgeted nervously as Regina walked through his workshop. Little things he wouldn't have bothered about before caught his attention, like scraps of bandages laying out or his messy array of herbs and medicines. The land was good for leaving things about, but it always made things messy. He was hastily trying to clean up behind her when she turned around. He quickly hid the bandages he'd grabbed and smiled hesitantly at Regina.

"Um..." he began unintelligibly before he led her to a newly packed pot of herbs, "This...is what I've named Dissimulo, meaning 'disguised'. I've been studying its properties for years and accidentally came across its special ability. After I experimented, I realized that if you added DNA to the herb, the consumer will take on the properties of the DNA they consumed. This pot here has already been mixed with Caelian DNA I...collected. It should last us about half a year. You only need about a pinch a day. If we run out before we are done, we can always come back and make more." Curos felt relaxed now. Dealing with his work always calmed him. "If we take some now and fly, we should be there by morning. We don't even need to carry anything. Your Father the King arranged it with a spy in Caelum to have everything prepared for us there. You and I will pose as brother and sister there. Any questions?"

Regina tried not to look awestruck as she glanced around. She had heard of the wonders of the floating country but had erased her curiosity when the Caelians had declared war. The thought of them disrupting the delicate balance of peace the three countries had always kept sparked a hard ball of anger in her gut, but the anger couldn't prevent her from being amazed when she was right in the middle of it. Many Caelians walked on the ground, but it seemed like most took advantage of their wings and flew to where they were going. Due to the overnight flight, she could probably fly comfortably with them now, but she didn't really want to. She and Curos had been flying for so long, she just needed her feet to be on the ground for a while, so when they arrived at the crack of dawn, swallowed down another dose, just in case, and changed into Caelian clothes, she had escaped from Curos to explore on her own. She had nothing against the medicine man, but she could almost guarantee that he wouldn't be much help outside of his potions and herbs.

Naturally, since her mission had all to do with the war, Regina smiled to herself when she saw a group of soldiers and began to follow them. At first, she felt conspicuous and wanted to hide as she followed, but she had to remind herself that she looked like one of them. Actually, according to the woman they stayed with, Caelian DNA was very flattering on her, and she now looked like an extremely beautiful Caelian, one of the best. This news had upset her at first, making her believe that she would stand out, but as she thought about it, extreme beauty would remove suspicion from her and allow her to get into more places by seduction. Abandoning her thoughts, Regina turned to concentrating on the soldiers. They had been walking for a while, so she was about to give up on them, when they entered a building. Hanging back and looking it over, the building was obviously a guardhouse.

Okay. So she knew where a guardhouse was now. Wonderful. What exactly was she going to do with that knowledge? She couldn't just go in and begin fighting. She would be badly outnumbered, and her position would be given away before she could even accomplish anything. Regina frowned a little bit, thinking over what she could do in such a situation.

Andelin frowned a bit as he exited the guardhouse. He wish he could have a shift where he didn't have to hear about people talk about the war. The others even seemed excited. Did they expect the Terrans and the Undans to lay down and let them kill them?

He raised and eyebrow when he noticed a woman standing nearby. She was beautiful, even by Caelian standards. He gave her a slight bow, "Anything I can help you with, Ms..."

Regina almost jumped when the man spoke to her. She hadn't seen him standing there at first. Now that he had her attention, she quickly glanced him over. He was strong, probably a soldier, but if he was, he had a position of at least a slight authority, judging from the way he held himself. If he didn't have a position of authority, then either he was of noble blood or he was pretty confident in his ability.

"Re-" she began absentmindedly before catching herself, "Reina, Reina Dissimulo." She smiled politely, satisfied with the name. It was close enough to her own that she would remember, and how could she forget the herb that brought her here in the first place? It almost seemed like a joke, the fact that her identity would be so close to obvious. "And no. I'm new to this area and was just having a look around, but thank you for your consideration, Mr...?"

"I am Lieutenant Andelin Elian, at your service," he told the girl with a bow and smile. He shrugged a little, "But just call me Andelin. I just got off duty."

He raised an eyebrow at Reina and looked thoughtful, "So you're new here? Are you from one of the farms or the another part of the main isle?"

"One of the farms," Reina answered quickly and naturally. She knew hesitation would look suspicious. "My parents recently died, and though we knew how to handle the farm on our own, the whole place was full of too many memories. My brother and I decided to sell the land and move here instead of staying." Reina allowed sadness to enter her voice and expression before hiding it again with a bright smile. "So forgive me for wandering around like a lost little bird. I'm afraid it will take a while before I can find my way around such a huge place."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that," Andelin told her, giving her a sympathetic look. He knew what it was like to lose a parent, "I believe it's my duty to escort you. I know this place like the back of my own hand. I can lead you to the merchant districts or to one of the Temples. You will not be wanting in purchases. The merchants are very well-stocked. The temples are beautiful, but the debate halls are filled with talk of the war, I'm afraid."

"Thank you," Regina said with a sweet smile. Then, she hesitated, wondering if she should take the opportunity. He had brought up the war on his own, so she wouldn't look suspicious speaking of it. With determination, Regina put on the most innocent face she could. "...I don't want to offend a soldier of our country, but I am a bit curious. I've heard only a little of this war from the farm, and I wanted to know why...why are we going to war with the Terrans and the Undans? All of us have always gotten along so well. I don't understand."

Andelin paused for a moment. He had never run into anyone that questioned the war before, at least, not on their own. He frowned.

"We have, perhaps, the greatest civilization in the world. That's the problem," he told her thoughtfully, "Some people got the idea that we are better than the Undans and the Terrans, that, the world would be so much better if we ordered everything about to our liking and that it would bring a new golden age to the world. Of course, it's stupid and will cause suffering for us and the other races."

He shrugged a little, "But that kind of thinking is overlooked in favor for the type of talk that appeals to your vanity. Personally, I don't see the point in conquering underwater cities and cities inside mountains. No one wants to live there."

Regina held back a smile. No one wants to live there, indeed. He could only say that, because he'd never been there. Still, he seemed to be against the war. What luck that she ran into what she was looking for so soon. If she played this wisely, she could stop this war before any lives from any of the countries were sacrificed.

"I agree that this war is the result of vanity," Reina said quietly, trying to maintain some meekness, "But I also believe it will come to naught. We are attacking places we, ourselves cannot reach. I am certain that Undans will not give us the plant that will grant us the ability to breath underwater. On the other hand, it would be foolishness to delve into the darkness of the Terran kingdom and fight them there. How exactly do we plan on winning this war?" Reina focused her clear blue eyes on Andelin's face. Depending on his response, she may end up just leaving him now. She had no time to waste on a weak heart if she wanted to end this quickly. She would not allow the lives of her people to suffer.

"Oh, we will find a way because of the 'innate greatness' of our people or some other nonsense that the warmongerers have been spewing," Andelin quipped, smiling a little. It was nice to find someone that agreed with him for a change, particularly a pretty young woman.

"Still, there is always a way. The warriors will probably find it soon. The trouble is, we may lose everything that makes us great to get it," he admitted thoughtfully, "And then, there will be an endless war and in a hundred years, everyone will forget who started it."

Regina nodded in agreement to his statement, absentmindedly listening now. He obviously against the war. Her father had told her to find people like him, but now that she had, what exactly was she supposed to do. She couldn't incite them to rebellion. That would just end in bloodshed. No. She needed a plan to change the minds of influential people in Caelum, so their power could aid her in stopping the war. Regina eyed Andelin, considering.

"Are there many who believe like we do, Andelin?" she asked innocently, "I would think that more people would disagree with the war, especially if they know Terrans and Undans personally through business."

"Well, there are farmers and traders that deal with the Terrans and Undans for undersea plants and finished good from the Terrans' underground cities. Then there are cartographers that map out the world outside our realm, but not all of them are against the war," Andelin told her thoughtfully. He raised an eyebrow, "Why, are you trying to get people together to oppose the war. I grant you that if enough people speak out against it, it could slow things down or stop it entirely, but there is talk about labeling such people as traitors. That idea hasn't gained much ground, but if enough people feel alienated, the opposition's arguments might be dismissed."

He laughed and shook his head, "My father would be throwing a fit if he heard me saying these things. He's the follow-orders-no-matter-what sort of person, which is strange, considering that my mother was a philosopher. Very spiritual and peaceful."

Regina caught herself just before she responded. She was about to retort that her father was a straight-laced sort of man too, but she just eyed him with pity instead. Ugh! She needed to be more careful if she was going to keep up her role as a Caelian. Shaking her head, Regina turned her thoughts back to the task at hand.

"I'm not too worried about being labeled anything," she commented with a smile, "I'd prefer to save lives. Image is fleeting anyway." She paused. "So yes. I'd like to find these people."

Curos hurried through the street, trying to look inconspicuous, but panic was making him stick out like a sore thumb. Princess Regina had just disappeared. He should have anticipated her escaping, but he had already been nervous about the danger they were in, so he hadn't thought the princess would put herself in more danger. After tearing through the streets a bit, Curos finally got the idea to actually use his wings and was up in the air in an instant. After circling around for a bit, he finally spotted Regina's now-blonde self standing with a Caelian man. With no thought of caution, Curos dove in, neatly landing by Regina's side.

"Where have you been?" he asked darkly, not bothering to address the man beside her.

Regina smiled to hide her annoyance. Still, she was a bit taken aback at his forwardness. He had more of a backbone than she expected. All the same, she gave him a warning glare before turning back to Andelin.

"This is my brother, Ross," she said, "Ross, this is Andelin."

"Same here," Andelin told her with a laugh and a shrug, "I'm just saying that it's going to be a little difficult, but if you're willing to go against the crowd, I'll get you to meet some of the opposition. I like you already."

He grinned at her before giving her a wink, but raised an eyebrow at Curos as he appeared and nodded at him. He held out his hand, "It's good to meet you. Your sister is a breath of fresh air here on the main island."

Curos watched Andelin, as Regina had called him, with a wary eye. At first, he thought maybe he shouldn't appear so suspicious of him, but Curos decided that it fit the role of an older brother to not entirely trust a strange male with his little sister, and he hadn't missed Andelin's wink at Regina. He would have to be careful with this one.

"It's good to meet you too," he replied with measured politeness, "And thank you. I hope she hasn't caused you too much trouble yet." Curos shot a glare in Regina's direction, to warn her that she was in trouble. The King had put her in his care, and he couldn't fulfill his duty if she was running around and driving him insane. How was he supposed to protect a princess that didn't allow him near her.

Regina blushed at Andelin's wink, not really understanding why it embarrassed her, but she forgot about it when Curos began talking. He was angry, she saw, and she would have to endure a scolding later. Regina sighed and rolled her eyes.

"I'm a grown woman, Ross. You don't have to speak like he was babysitting me," she intercepted, "Andelin kindly offered to show me the area. It'll be nice to know my way around."

"Not at all. Like I said, she's a breath of fresh air," Andelin told Curos with a shrug as he withdrew his hand. He understood the guy's caution. After all, he was practically eying up his sister, but he couldn't really help it. She seemed to have a different kind of beauty than most girls he met. That and she agreed with his opinion about the war. That was always a plus. He grinned at her, happy that he managed to cause her to blush.

"And it would be nice to hang out with you two. I don't have anything better to do. Like I've said, my shift is over for today," he told her. He smiled apologetically at Curos. He knew older brothers hated it when a strange male took an interest in their young sisters.

"See," Regina whispered to Curos with venom. They came here for a specific purpose, and she'd just started heading in the right direction when he already got in the way. Still, she couldn't hold it against him. His life had only been about herbs, and he probably hadn't ever been in situations like this one. Regina took a deep breath and relaxed, flashing a smile at Andelin. Still, she kept her eyes lowered. She didn't know why she was embarrassed by his attentions, but she needed to keep her strange feelings at bay. She had other things to worry about right now.

"Thank you, Andelin," she smiled. When she felt in control again, she met his eyes in order to prove her sincerity. "Your help is greatly appreciated."

Curos watched Regina with shock. For some reason, he'd just gotten the feeling that they'd been behaving very sibling-like, and that caused him to feel dismay. He'd been in love with Regina since they were young, but he would lose all his chances if he allowed their pretend sibling relationship to grow. He would have to fix that when they were alone again. For now, he faced Andelin. The man seemed considerate, but his interest in Regina left Curos feeling resentful.

"Lead the way," Curos urged in a light, polite tone. No sense in letting Andelin know just how much he disliked the man already. Besides, he knew his judgement was biased, and he couldn't allow himself to ruin their mission due to bias.

Re: [OOC] Stuck in Unreality

I'll think about it. After all, there is a war going on. There will at least be battles and such

Re: [OOC] Stuck in Unreality

Hm...is there going to be an event of some kind that will bring together some of the players and some of the CPUs?

Re: [OOC] Stuck in Unreality

They replace already existing people, but they can be thrown in as well. I tried to explain, but I don't think I did a very good job. Nemar is a new, original type of game. The gameplay is very real, and you get lost in it. In fact, it wouldn't be strange if some players forgot they were players sometimes.

Re: [OOC] Stuck in Unreality

I see people making players with a back-story -- are the players then replacing already existing people, or are they (like in most games) thrown into the fray without any contacts/relations?

Re: [OOC] Stuck in Unreality

To Sevis: I have a general idea, but I don't want to have a plot planned out, because I want to allow you guys to shape it. Thanks for the tip, I will change it right away. Also, pics are not required.

To ohsnapitsyourface: It's random, because everybody is in different parts of Nemar, so they can't really interact until they meet in a certain place. It starts whenever. I'm still fine tuning, so I'm going to finish first before I start posting, but you guys go ahead.

To almostinsane: They know they are players, but at the same time, the game is really realistic, so they can get caught caught up in being their character too. Also, when they are in the game, they don't consciously think about the life outside the game except for knowing they have to win, because their real lives really have no importance in what they are doing.

To all: Feel free to make some self-aware NPCs, because the more you have them in their, the better the plot will end up being.

Re: [OOC] Stuck in Unreality

I'm just wondering about something. Do the players know they're players when playing the game or do they believe they are their character?

Re: [OOC] Stuck in Unreality

Will there be a general order that we have to post in? Or will it just be random?

I was also wondering, when do you think this will possibly start?

Re: [OOC] Stuck in Unreality

This certainly looks interesting. Around how long would you like most posts to be, and do you already have thoughts about where this'll go, or will it be made up as things go along?

Also, I think you mean NPC, not CPU.

EDIT: Oh, and are character pictures required?
