The sufficiently advanced alien race calling themselves “The Guardians of Fame”, the self-appointed recorders of prominent figures throughout the histories of all civilizations in the galaxy, have cast their eye upon the planet earth. Moved by their nostalgia for famous figures of the past, and their obsession with fame in the present, the Guardians decided to scatter numerous “Fame Tokens”, pieces of sufficiently advanced technology that allow the bearer to channel the spirit of a famous person from the past and gain special superhuman powers based on that person’s life, talents, or achievements. They did this in the hopes that this would inspire humanity to achieve even greater heights of fame, whether by doing good or evil.
The plot of this RP will start out with you having had a couple months to adjust to your new abilities. It’s up to you to decide if they decided to become a superhero, a criminal, something else altogether, or just kept it for use in their private life. Regardless of what they chose, eventually the long arm of the plot will be coming to tap them on the shoulder.
All of your characters have been contacted by one of the Guardians (who took a suitably impressive holographic form custom-made for every person), who explained to them who the Guardians were, about the Fame Tokens, and that other alien entities exist that could threaten earth in the future.

Fill out the following skeleton for your character:
Codename: (if you have a secret identity)
Appearance: (original and transformed states)
(also, make sure to include how they feel about their current situation of getting powers)
Equipment: (list any relevant gadgets or weapons here, as well as their super-powers)
History: (just give a brief paragraph (unless you want to do more) about you character’s backstory before they obtained their Fame Token).
Channeled Spirit: This can be basically any famous figure. It can be a pop-culture icon like a singer or actor, a prominent politician, author, artist, or businessman. It can also be someone from history. I’d like to get a good mix of modern and historical figures from all ages and regions, and of all types of occupations.
Powers: The abilities can be anything you can think of, with the only restriction being they must relate to the person you channel in some way (though the ways you could relate them to are many, have fun getting creative with it). For instance, you could channel Tite Kubo, and your power could be a Bleach-style zanpakuto. Or you could channel Mohammed Ali and be a superstrong brick. You could even channel Michael Jackson and be a dancing zombie. Anything. I’m looking more for creativity than balance, here. Especially since isn’t the most serious RP, having over-the-top abilities is kind of going to be par for the course. I’ll let you know if what you choose will be a problem or doesn’t fit. Having appropriate weaknesses would help as well.
Remember, you need your Fame Token to transform, so don’t lose it. Also, any Sentai that gets too tired or injured (i.e. to the point of sleep or unconsciousness) will revert to their normal state, though this reversion also has the benefit of healing them to some degree of any serious injuries they took while transformed (but won’t leave them completely unscathed).
Fame Tokens bond with the first person that touches with them, and won’t work for anyone else afterwards.
Fame Tokens are palm-sized plates with a star-shape on them, though they differ in overall color and design, unique to each individual. They are activated by holding them out and speaking a unique catchphrase, at which time the user transforms in appearance to be halfway between their appearance and that of the person they are channeling.

This setting takes place roughly a century from the current time period. There’s a certain cyberpunkish aesthetic to it, with skyscrapers and other large structures everywhere, however, a lot of things are still similar to today, so you can assume the countries are the same and such. The two major political developments are that in many of the big-city areas creativity and freedom of expression have been repressed, and media is heavily controlled; conversely, in other areas, there have been many attempts around the world by “revivalists” wanting to restore the world to the aesthetic qualities of a past era, such as feudal Japan, but retaining modern conveniences like medicine. This interest in the past is what prompted the Guardians of Fame to power-up the human race.
The technology is highly advanced, but really high-end things like faster-than-light travel and the like are still inaccessible to normal human technology (though outsider races have access to them), but other than the really big stuff, anything is allowed.
Keep in mind that part of your transformation can include weapons or other pieces of equipment as befits your character, which, being made of sufficiently advanced alien technology can do things regular human technology cannot.
Right now, contact with “outsiders” is still new. The Celebrity Sentai have been contacted by the Guardians as to the nature of their new powers, and know other alien races are out there. For now, their primary concern is using their new abilities for whatever they choose, whether fighting crime, or for personal gain.
