When Lucifer returns to the Earth in the year 2020, he finds it impossible to trust his demons to help take down Heaven. So he sets off with the four Horsemen of Apocalypse to recruit the fallen angels who just want him back in his cage.

10,989 readers have visited Switch Board since GoldeN2202 created it.

Introduction

In the year 2020, the four horsemen of the apocalypse tried to resurrect Lucifer. They succeeded due to the noble nature of Angels. In turn, many angels fell.
Now, Lucifer walks the Earth – free from Hell and it’s bounds – with his horsemen; Death, War, Famine and Conquest. Even though Demons walk the Earth with them, Lucifer can’t really bring himself to rely on the deceptive creatures in order to defeat Heaven; after all, they were created to be liars.
Due to this dilemma, he’s over joyed to hear just how many angels fell because of his arrival. So, he sets off after them. After all, he can’t expect the angels to be on his side- so why not bring in the fallen ones who are just like him?
Meanwhile, the fallen angels seek many things of their own- to return to heaven, to get revenge, to help as many as they can. But, they seem to understand the one primary mission; put Luci back into his cage.

Mini hissed, and Hailey could hear her teeth smashing together from the other side of the field. “What is her deal?” she muttered to herself, before growling and raising her own sword, firmly in her right hand. Mini charged, predictably, accepting the invitation by summoning a rather pathetic sword. The two blades clash, and Mini’s sword shatters on impact. So, does a bone in Hailey’s right arm. When Mini attacked again, this time with another sword, Hailey felt her nerves snap. Her arm went limp almost immediately but she skilfully disguised it as a dodge.

As soon as she could, Hailey moved over to her partner’s counterpart, her own moving back to her father. “Something is very wrong.” She explained to him when he looked at her questioningly. “My bones are shattering,” she began, and he looked back at the enemies. “My blood is tainted badly, I’ve got severe ghost pain and because of this I have lost the ability to use my right arm within the span of one sword block.” She clarified. Instantly, he looked back at her, shocked more than concerned.

I'm starting to really hate this guy. Seriously, dude, get your shit together.

His shock instantly turned into cockiness, a smirk plastered onto his face as a sign. "You forget you're talking to a seraph. Fallen, yes, but still a seraph of Purification." Serae looked down at the girl. The fallen bent down on one knee and touched the Earth, a small dash of white Germanic magic flowed through it. With his analysis, Serae looked up to Hailey as he stood. "Sleep for now. " He said calmly, brushing on her neck with a heavy sleeping spell, one which gave the afflicted whatever dream they wished and an hour of true sleep. He caught the body and laid it on the ground, a protection circle forming at the flick of his fingers.

Serae looked up, his green eyes dark. "You know you won't survive fight with me out here, so scurry of, before I cause some damage to that pretty face." He threatened, picking up Hailey's body after he had disbanded his legions.

Hailey, who went from one battlefield to another, knew almost instantly what magic spell had been cast. "Damn him!" she yelled to the sky, before sighing in defeat and dropping her shoulders. She looked at her surroundings, noting as something unfamiliar, yet scratching in the back of her mind to remind her that she did actually recognise it from somewhere. She was smaller, and she could see in the reflection of a puddle on the ground that she was not a day over 10. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, falling to her shoulder blades. Her eyes were a light blue though, and her skin shone brightly, showing off a tan that seemed to only just becoming independent from her parents. No more canines, either. She was literally, herself when she was 900 years (angel years) old, or 10 in human years.

Unusually, the only piece of clothing she seemed to be wearing besides her underwear was a pure white dress, falling to her knees. Not even shoes. "Damn," she muttered. Only after wasting so much time looking at herself, she figured out exactly where she was. Hell. Literally. The red dirt and rocks dug into her feet even though she was standing still, and for lack of better understanding, the sky was pitch black, like a cave where you couldn't see the roof. The heat wasn't very noticeable, however, a simple 18'C at best. Only then did it make sense exactly where she was.

"Oh shit." she scrambled across the rocks, kicking into a mad sprint. Lava seemed to burst from pores in the ground behind her, causing her to jump out of the way several times. It was never good to stay standing still in Hell.

Holding her body, Serae glanced at the demons behind him and growled. And yet, he soon found himself walking away to one of his servants, "Deliver her to the kid safely. It seems they won't leave." Passing her over, Serae quickly shifted his stance as a blade came for him.

"Oh Mini, you may have taken my grace, but remember, I'm still much more powerful than you." He said, twisting his blades which had become the size of his forearm roughly. He danced with his blades easily and swiftly, dodging the her blade. Kicking his leg up, Serae dislodged the blade from her hands and fell back into a hand stand. The fallen looked up, his green eyes blazing back into an azure blue for a split second. His wings assisted him, propping him upright.

Within that second, a new blade plummeted into his top right wing, cutting across. He hissed and forced it out with his hand, forcing Mini back. The grey wing was completely ripped through, no longer moving.

Serae collapsed, his feathers falling out, a repeat of how his last wing had died off. The bones shuffled turning into dust quickly. The aged taint on his chest thumped, spreading wider, now seen from beyond his tattoos.

Hailey was starting to get really dizzy. So dizzy in fact, that she fell over into the rocks from lack of concentration. Instead of moving to get up, she stayed there, regaining her breath and reigning in her thoughts. She felt a light on her head, a holy light, but didn’t move to look up. Her vision got worse on the ground, and eventually, she felt too tired to stay awake. She knew what that meant. This dream was meant to be happy, but there is no happiness left it seems. She stopped fighting it.

Back into action, then.

Spinning out of whoever’s arms she was in, her eyes snapped open. The first thing that happened was all her bones popped simultaneously. Ow. Next, she saw Serae a few feet away, collapsed. Wing broken. Alright, here we go. The purple returned to her face, although much lighter. Instead of instantly, she moved faster. It paid off. She kicked off the ground and appeared behind Serae, her hand on his Wing Root, telling it to Heal, before moving in front of him to block any attack.

Resurrection was painful. After waking up she had been bedridden for half a year, knowing each of her bones were being rearranged one by one. Her veins and nerves were pulled as far as they could go, before being let go and snapped back to the size of a child. Her brother, Iniel, had also gone through resurrection, if not in the same situation. After waking up, he instantly fought back, and this didn’t help him any. Moving his arms while his nerves stretched snapped them, and while fighting with fragile bones had broken them to dust. He had to be put down, like a dog, because it was too much pain for him to bare. She saw the same thing in the new player.

Miniel knew enough to recognise something was wrong. Wrong. This new player in town who was seemingly unstoppable yet weak at the same time. Spyrth was oddly protective, as well. The girl seemed to be standing against the pain much better, and it was intriguing. Her mind worked instantly, as if on instinct, and it was burning familiar to her old life. That was the surprise she got when she saw the girl’s face blocking a Gastoshi attack with her arm. Her own eyes bore back into her, red and swirling. Purple was dying off her face, and she was snarling. Sharp inhumane canines she lost in the later stages of Reincarnation. Hailey.

Serae looked up, his wings dropping into dust not long after Hailey had told it to heal. He had managed stand, blood trailing down his back. "Hailey, get back. Now." He growled quietly, his green eyes sharp as a viper. "ᛞᛠᚦ ᛒᛖ ᛏᛟ ᚦᛖ ᛚᚨᚾᛞ᛬ " He growled once again, switching his languages. He was no longer the french angel clearly.

With eyes sharp, Serae understood her identity had been uncovered. "Accorde-nous de pouvoir laisser ce royaume et à étaient le coeur réside." He whispered to himself before grabbing Hailey's arm, using a transportation spell in French. The world flashed white then black then to just outside Serea's apartment building. "You shouldn't have awoken." He growled, looking down at Hailey.

~

At that moment, Spyrth collapsed, the taint on his chest spreading to his left cheek, up his neck like a shadowed scar.

She growled back, glaring up at him before ripping her arm away. "Don't touch me, unless I say so," she growled, and her eyes flashed a deep red. Before she could continue, however, she felt a large rip in her chest. Nausea hit instantly, but instead of collapsing, her eyes moved to the apartment building. No...

"Spyrth!" she shouted, kicking off the ground running. She went up the stairs 3 at a time, heading to the 3rd floor as fast as she could. She didn't even wait to see if the door was unlocked, before spinning the doorknob and all but bashing the door open. She got there just in time to see Spyrth lose his footing and collapse from where he was leaning against the table. Hailey moved instantly, catching him before he could fall. Even so, they slid to the floor. She spotted the mark growing on his cheek and growled instantly.

"We're becoming like you," she realised as Serae came barging into the room. "The universe doesn't want us here but it can't send us back so it's changing us to be like you!" She gripped her friend tightly. Protectively. "No!! That means if we stay-" she cut herself off, cuddling her best friend closer to her chest.

If we stay, Spyrth will fall.

Looking at Hailey, Serae growled. "The universe needs a starting point. Lay him on the floor carefully, that taint must have been there previously, and angels are tainted by coming in contact with the fallen and other angels. " He hesitated, and then hissed, "You're hurting him the closer you are. "

Glancing towards the Kid, Serae nodded. "However, that taint will carve into his chest and either kill him by taking his wings and heart or it will force him to fall by stealing his grace. He needs to be blessed, and by someone who isn't of any form an angel, human or a fallen." Yet again, he hesitated, "Only a true demon can stop this. A demon who has been in contact with him a lot and Spyrth shares memories with, from before he became Seraphiel."

With that, Serae left to a room which he hadn't been in for a long time, the doorway was an entrance way to the library of the Druids, the place of all knowledge.

~

Spyrth hissed, his eyes squeezed shut in pain. He was flaming hot with a sudden fever, sweat beading off of him. He squirmed, blood beginning to pool under his unopened skin, a chamber of his heart cutting itself open. The taint thinned slowly, seeping into his skin, edging like a scar. Soon, blood began to fall out as the taint cut into him. Towels were laid out to stop blood getting to the ground, but much could be done.

His throat was parched and tears falling from his burning eyes. A chill like ice ran up his spine, attacking the nerves.

Hailey watched Serae go. She stayed quiet, moving toward the door and out of the way. Once getting herself comfortable, leaned against the wall, she closed her eyes. Time to figure out what went wrong.

“Hailey!” her eyes snapped open, and she was in a different place. An old place. The atmosphere around her swirled briefly. Hailey saw herself standing off to the side with Lucifer first, before seeing what she was after a fair distance away. She focused on Spyrth, fighting an army of at least 20 fallen angels by himself. He lost his sword, and a sharp blade struck his right shoulder. He seemed to realise as soon as Hailey that the fight wasn’t a win. He turned, abandoning the fight and saw past Hailey, to where her memory counterpart was fighting.

“Hailey!” he called again, and she moved faster toward him. He called for her again, this time getting tackled by fallen who ripped at his chest, neck and arms. He tried desperately to hide his wings. Before she got there, he went still and the angels abandoned him. She collapsed beside him, examining him quickly. His clothes repaired themselves, hiding the taint on his chest so well he probably wouldn’t even know it was there.

Hailey opened her eyes, seeing her best friend on the floor before moving out of the room to analyse herself. Don’t feel.

Books were everywhere, so was white blood. The last time he had gone into the library was when he was so close to death. At that time, he was an idiot and relied on the first demon he could remember. The original problem was that he knew nothing of his past, and what he did know, came from his so-called-sister and his previous incarnation, and the book. The book always switched places when it was needed. Magic in the air clogged any sort of tracking.

Just by looking around, Serae just knew that any sort of proper salvation was gone, the book wasn't there. If he had passage to hell once more, maybe then he could find a way, but that option left a long time ago. He was just about to leave as he glanced at a stone door, he wasn't going to do that to someone else.

He left the room and shut the door loudly, "It ain't there." He sighed.

Jonas looked up from his place on the floor were he was tending to Spyrth- who was unconscious due to blood loss. "Why don't you ask Aim?" He asked innocently, immediately understanding the situation. "That bastard will only fuck everything up, again." Serae hissed, dark green eyes threatening the youth. "Where's Hailey?" He asked, looking around, Jonas only pointed as he tried to mend the wound on Spyrth's chest.

Hailey twirled a dagger through her fingers.

White light. Black. Purple. Orange. A shout from nearby. Angels singing. Heat. The temperature skyrockets. Then plummets. No, back a bit. Heat. Vibrations through the ground. No- wait, words? Oh…

Her eyes snapped open as Serae walked into the room, and tucked her dagger back into her side pocket. “How can I help you this fine evening?” she asked sarcastically.

"The only way to cure Spyrth, isn't there. He will die, unless..." He stopped, not wanting to mention that demon.

Sighing, he leaned on the pastel wall. "You're in charge, as technically you're his guardian. What do you want to do about it?" He asked, taking a cigarette out of his pockets, lighting it with a click of his fingers.

Hailey looked up. "Not sure. You didn't get this wound, I'm assuming?" he nodded, and she turned to analyse the ground as she recollected her thoughts. "Well, I dug through my head quickly and found it isn't a taint. So no demons needed." He made a noise familiar of surprise, and she looked up to examine him. She wasn't impressed. "You may not like it, but I know your head. Besides the emotions part, your brain still works the same way," she explained. "Thus I know you're going to go to that stupid demon that almost killed you once, and all but beg for help."

She shrugged, changing back to what she was previously talking about. "Anyway. It wasn't a taint. Or, well, not the sort of taint you're thinking. It's an angel taint. And whether it was a fallen or not, it was the exact same. Meaning it will spread to his brain before recognising his angel DNA and backing off. All you have to concentrate on is keeping the wound from killing him. He's as weak as a human right now."

She turned away from the floor, toward him. "I can't do that right now. I'm pretty bashed myself." She leaned away from the wall. "But I just reincarnated so-" she rounded off the sentence, letting him figure it out for himself.

Serae sighed before nodding. The hallway window was open and so Serae went to- jumping out of it. He disappeared from sight.

~

Spyrth woke quickly after and limped to where Hailey was. "Hailey?" He questioned weakly looking over at her as he leaned on the wall. Black veins crawled up from his heart and ended oddly upon his face and neck. He was shirtless with bloody bandages covering the entirety of his upper chest. His arms were covered in faded scars and his stomach was soaked in bruises. Smiling softly, Spyrth walked closer to Hailey.

Hailey turned away from the window and frowned when she noticed Spyrth standing at the door, holding his side like it pained him. She bit back a sigh and pushed her legs toward him. As she got closer, his soft smile grew larger, and she could see him examining her. For injuries, perhaps. “Hey,” she greeted roughly. He moved forward again, but he stumbled, and her arms shot out to steady him. “You should be lying down,” she said sternly. He snorted and leaned in, giving a hug that was clearly more for him than her. She blinked and sighed, before returning it briefly. “Come on,” she said into his ear. “You took a nasty hit. You’re weaker than a human, right now.” She said amusedly. He snorted again, but pulled away and gave her a nod, before returning to Jonas in the other room.

Hailey, now alone, let her head droop. To be honest, she wasn’t much of a guardian. She probably couldn’t protect herself against a low-level demon right now. Feeling bile rise in her throat, she moved through the hallway to the secluded bathroom and locked herself in, before emptying her stomach into the closest thing around, luckily the toilet. She let out wet coughs and hissed in pain through her teeth as her chest burned. She squeezed her eyes shut while she pushed herself up, hoping for no more of her lunch to leave her system, and moved to the sink and mirror. Her eyes widened dramatically, upon seeing her face. Her black eye had healed but was still lightly purple. However, that wasn’t what she was concerned about. Her hair. A single thick strand that ran down her whole back was a shimmery white. Her eyes flashed red but fizzled to a creamy white before fading back to black.

No.

She lowered her head to the sink, struggling to keep tears in her eyes. Even though she was alone, she felt the need to cry a thing impossible for her to do. “Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry,” she chanted quietly to herself, keeping her head on the rim of the basin.

When Spyrth went back to Jonas, he was immediately introduced with a worried look. "Spyrth, your neck..." Jonas said softly, looking up from his spot on the bronze couch. "My neck?" He asked placing a hand on the rim of his neck. Just above the collar bone was a sudden black sludge which dripped down from a cut in his neck (right in front of his trachea). Pulling his hand away, Spyrth almost choked at what he saw. One of the first signs of a Seraph becoming fallen -or worse, a demon- was the lungs being covered in a thick tar-like substance. Looking down with a guilty expression, Spyrth held his neck to avoid bleeding out.

Light streamed out of the two large clear windows which covered two of the walls. Although, as Spyrth walked up to one, they became mirrored allowing him to see the damage. Completely around his neck in many directions had slit open. "Jonas, I think I need -" He cut himself off as he passed out at the sight.

~

Dodge, hit, slice.

Thousands of the undead surrounded Serae as he cut them down one by one, little effort put into killing them. "Come on Serae, I thought you were a demon, or did you finally get that out of your system just like that little curse. " A demon with two snakes coming from his tail bone just like a tail split into two. "Aim, I will kill you if you don't stop going on about," The ex-angel growled. His anger issues began to show as his long blade shrank and became blunter, allowing him to bash in skulls.

A ringing noise came in his ear, Morse code only he could hear. "Aim, sorry for your entertainment to finish so soon, but I'm needed." He said as he made a sweeping motion with his hand. Everyone of the undead died and turned to ash.

The toilet flushed, the sink turned on and off, and the door unlocked.

Hailey emerged from the bathroom 5 minutes after entering, looking refreshed and different. Her hair was tied back in a perfect messy bun, with a white strip of hair standing out from the black. Some of her clothing had been removed as well. She was missing all her shirts and jackets, sporting only a firm bra and a simple white singlet. Her pants were the same as before though, heavily layered with several belts and pockets for weaponry, and her large combat boots remained on.

Her skin was coated with scars that looked too old to be a recent fight. A large cut, however, that resembled an explosion stuck out from her shirt and crawled up her neck. It looked recent, and was obviously still in the process of healing. She wasn’t holding a limp any further either, although her singlet had a deep red spot over her ribs that suggested a very serious wound.

Alright, that should hold me for a few hours.

Taking a deep breath, Hailey moved toward the lounge room.

Rolling over on the couch in pain, Spyrth grasped his neck unconsciously. Bandaging covered the entirety of his neck as black sludge dripped down making the once white bandaging turn a misty grey. He had passed out.

His dreams were plagued with visions of war and disaster.

~

Sheathing his blade, Serae let a small rare smile as he left the plagued area. Black blood splattered his clothing. His eyes only became clear to see once he walked from the area, his eyes changing from an eternally changing form to his normal green eyes.

Whistling, Serae walked forward to a clear platform. Shifting his gaze, he muttered something and disappeared. Reappearing just round the corner from is home, he knew he had might as well walk out of boredom.

Hailey, upon entering the lounge room, came across the sight of Spyrth collapsed on the floor, Jonas off to the side having what looks to be a panic attack. "What's going on?" she asked as she jogged over, kneeling beside her downed friend. Jonas (from this point on dubbed Mediele) examined her in shock, but she growled and he jumped.

"Uh- he, uh, passed out. He's getting, um, Serae's memories- I, I believe." he stuttered, finally getting back his sense of calm. Hailey looked down and sighed. "Damn it." she muttered, before placing her hand over his temples. Her eyes flashed red, before they changed to a pure white. As she dove into his head, she managed to darken his dreams to the point where he could barely see them.

After finishing the spell, she ripped her hands away and pain split her head in two. She moved to back away, collapsing over her own feet and falling to the ground. Jonas- Mediele- moved to her instantly. "He should be fine." she grit her teeth and pushed herself up, the pain from before decreasing to a minor buzz. "I couldn't erase his memories, but I could dampen them. He- ah," she grabbed her side before standing up fully, and leaning against the wall. "Won't remember them when he wakes up."

Spyrth felt like he was on fire. The dreams were excruciating to watch. And even though they had been dampened, what he heard was amplified. Those screams could drive a man to insanity. It hurt so much still. He didn't think anything could make it worse, until the sound of approaching footsteps sounded softly. His eyes snapped open as he tried to move, he was in that much pain he felt that he would die. Seræ had opened the door by now and was looking sharply at the three before him. "What happened here?" He asked with no care.

"Go screw yourself, angel boy." Hailey bit back, pushing herself off the wall with a small grunt of pain. She found she had no such luck, as everyone besides the downed angel seemed to notice. "What?" she snapped.

"You alright?" Serae asked, noticing her bloody shirt.
"Fine." she replied, pushing herself toward her friend. "Just a little-" she was cut off when Serae stepped between her, and Mediele moved behind her. She blinked, and in an instant, Serae pushed his hands to her head.
"Hey-!" She started but was cut off.

Images flung through her head, before settling on her memories of the fight.

"Miniel, enough of these games!" "I will fight you!" "You can't be faring well, will that nasty wound on your chest. Please, Mini, stop!" "I won't let you harm Spyrth!" "Miniel, I grow tired of this!" "This will not end until you surrender." "This is serious, Miniel, stop this petty grudge!" "I'll just keep dying until I win!" "In another time, we could have been a family." "I never want to be stuck at your side, you controlling parasite!"

Different parts of her memories played for her, and she knew quickly that Serae was seeing them as well. One memory seemed to catch his attention, and he grabbed at it.

"What are you doing?" "I'm making a painting!" "Yeah, I see that. But why?" "I don't know, this apartment looks ugly and boring." "Hey, this is a nice place!" "Maybe for you, but if I'm living here this needs to change." "Control freak." "Haha."

"Get out of my head!" she slurred.

"Don't touch me." "Aw come one babe lets have a little fun." He grabbed her arm. She spun, gripping his hand tightly and ripping it from her person. His eyes widened, and he pulled away. She frowned, letting him go and turning around, but stopped. Her eyes, glowing a horrible red, reflecting back at her in the glass of the store. They faded back to black, and she rose her hands to her mouth, suppressing a sob.

"Stop it!" she ripped him from her head, pushing him away physically and collapsing to her knees. Mediele stabbed her side with a knife. "What the hell!?" she growled.

"I won't let you hurt him anymore!"
"Hurt... him?" she turned from Mediele to Serae, who had tripped over Spyrth. "I hurt him? Me?" she looked down at her ground.
Serae and Mini sent glares to each other over the field.
She choked on the idea and held her hand to her mouth. She forced her eyes closed, took a deep breath, and looked up with a hard glare in her eye. She pushed Mediele away from her and ripped the knife out of her leg. It healed instantly. She went for Spyrth, and pulled him up into her arms. He wasn't outwardly bruised, but he was choking on air. "Damn you," she muttered under her breath, settling on her butt with him on her shoulder. "You'll get through this, just don't give in, yeah?"

Spyrth cuddled into you, gasping and choking. He was struggling, no, he was dying. Tears brimmed his eyes. In random moments, he tensed and twitched. Sweat beaded from his forehead, he shivered as if he had a fever. Blood gurgled up his throat, yet he wasn't able to spit it out, it laid in his mouth and only built up. With a small whimper, Spyrth whispered, "It hurts... It hurts... I can't breath..." He couldn't speak any louder with blood dripping out of his mouth.

Serae glared slightly before pushing Jonas away slightly by the shoulder, "Let's go, he won't survive long enough in that form." He muttered, closing his dark eyes.

GoldeN2202!!!! Can you add heaven and hell as locations? It would be a little helpful! (: If you do or don't, it probably doesn't matter by now...
