Name: Cole Borander, Knight of the Broken Blade
Age: 22
Race: Human
Appearance: Cole stands at 6' with broad shoulders and a upright, proud gait. His blonde hair is cut short and loose over green eyes. His nose is aquiline over a clean shaven face with a strong, prominent jaw.
He wears the blue cloak of his Order (The Order of Knights) over dull steel plate armor and the white tabard of the Araithe City Watch, marking him as a commoner raised to knighthood with no sigil of his own.
Personality: Well spoken, though his words lack the flowery prose of the nobility, and straight forward in his manner. Sir Borander has a commanding presence that lends him authority when shouting orders or dealing with the people of Araithe. His green eyes hold no warmth, making his smile seem awkward on his face when it appears.
Abilities: Cole is on his way to becoming a master swordsman, he is already one of the best blades in Araithe. He began his training under Dagovere Baewhite, a knight who many considered to be Gerard DeβCurtio's equal with a blade. After Sir Baewhite's death Cole has sparred and trained with visiting master swordsmen from all three continents.
In the past year since his rise to knighthood, Cole has become a burgeoning leader of men. As befitting his station he has been tutored in tactics and strategy by some of the greatest generals Mere has to offer.
Cole has exceptionally good short hand, and is well read in the great philosophers. His investigative abilities, learned from his time in the watch, are sharp.
Equipment/Weapons: A great sword with a jagged tip from where it has been broken, dull plate armor, and a tempered dagger. Cole can treat his blade like an abnormally wide bastard sword. This means that he can use a shield with it, if necessary, but it is easier with both hands.
History: Cole was born the son of a scribe. His father, Franc, wrote missives and warrants for the City Watch. From an early age Cole was taught to read and write. His father would often get work from lords to make copies of particular books. Franc was always sure to make an extra copy for his son to read.
Scribes do not earn much of a living, and Cole's family lived in the poorer sections of town. He witnessed first hand who suffers from war and why order and law is important. When he turned thirteen he took a job as a runner for the City Watch and started training to become a Watchman.
When he was sixteen, and the war first reached Araithe, Cole was drafted into the Emperor's Army. He was placed under the command of Sir Dagovere Baewhite, who took a liking to the boy and made him his squire. The next few years of war and intense training changed him from a boy to man. Cole is most famous for the Battle of Goldstone Tower where Sir Baewhite fell under a score of enemy soldiers. Cole raised his mentor's broken blade against a Slayer and defeated the traitor.
Now he is no longer an official member of the Watch. With no war, and no noble title, Cole finds himself following senior knights into battle against bandits and outlaws. He is in the capital now as a protector for the nobility during the execution of the traitor Frost.
