Powers
Raven has a wide range of various powers and abilities which appear to be rooted in the magical, mystical and supernatural. Though not required, Raven often speaks the phrase "Azarath Metrion Zinthos" to focus her abilities.
Telekinesis: Raven demonstrates this power and ability most often, levitating boxes, buses, and other inanimate objects into the battle, all full enshrouded in her dark, magical mystical energy. She has, on several occasions, demonstrated that she can use her telekinesis on human beings.
Magic: Raven demonstrates on several occasions her natural power and ability to use magic most notably in the episode "Spellbound" from the high-level wizard Malcihor. As such she is capable of casting spells and incantations of numerous levels, cast curses and use a wide variety of incredibly strong and powerful magical artifacts. She also has several shelves full of various spell books in the room.
Levitation: Apparently, Raven cannot fly as opposed to Starfire. Instead, she uses her telekinesis to simply lift and hover her body so that she may float off the ground.
Intangibility: Raven has shown many times her power and ability to teleport herself and others over short or long distances. Using her dark powers and abilities, she melts into walls and floors, sometimes in the shape of a giant black raven.
Teleportation: She can teleport herself and others over short or long distances, but it seems to take a lot out of her. She almost always teleports in the form of a giant black raven.
Precognition: Raven seems to be able to detect some vivid visions of the future. In the episode "Titan Rising" Raven is shown having a brief vision after Terra runs by her. This is the only time this power and ability is shown,[1] but the vision comes true.
Time Manipulation: Under extreme stress, Raven could temporarily stop time for a while and has the incredible power and ability to reach into the time stream. She "revives" Robin and Slade, who is chasing her, magically revives himself. She later returns time to its correct path.[2]
Soul-Self: Raven uses a soul-self-like power and ability to defeat Slade, who was working for Trigon at the time.
Healing: Raven has the amazing power and ability to heal minor wounds, not only healing others[3] but herself as well.[4]
Sensing: This may or may not be considered a power or ability, but Raven has the power and ability to "sense things" like where people are, what they are doing at the time, and things like that.
Abilities
•Multilingualism: Raven is fluent in several languages including English, German, Latin, Romanian, Ancient Sumerian, and Sanskrit. [5]
•Occultism: Raven is well-versed in the occult and is familiar with the magical and mystical rites from both her home dimension Azarath as well as Earth.
Strength level
Raven has the strength of a woman her age who who engages in moderate regular exercise.
Personality: Rae is cold, quiet, emotionless, studious and sarcastic. She can always come up with a witty remark for anything anyone says, it could almost be considered a talent. generally she stays calm, even in desperate situations. She is, however, also very emotionally-restrained, almost appearing secretive and distant. The reason for her emotional restraint is due to the adverse effects her emotions have on her powers. If her emotions become out of control, her powers can become erratic and spontaneous, becoming active without her will. She takes a wile to open up to people but when she does, she is loyal for life.
History/Background: Before joining the Titans, Raven was born the daughter of the inter-dimensional demonic lord Trigon and the human Arella in the realm of Azarath. During most of her life there she had been raised by monks and was taught how to use her powers and abilities and control her emotions, but at some unknown point in her life it was revealed to her that she would be used as a key element in her father's eventual take over of the universe, after this revelation she fled Azarath and went to Earth hoping to escape her fate. She soon arrived in a large city in California known as Jump City, but at the time of her arrival the city and the world was in a state of turmoil and has been ever since.
Family(Father, Mother
interdimensional demon Trigon-Father
Arella-Mother)
Other Information:
Weaknesses:
Because of her demonic upbringing, Raven has severe emotional issues verging on multiple personality disorder. Though she usually maintains a subdued demeanor, her full range of emotions have been personified within the environment of her soul-self. Each aspect was represented as wearing a different colored robe: green (brave), gray (timid), pink (happy), red (rage), orange (rude), yellow (intelligent), purple (friendly), brown (sad), and white which represents having full control over (or suppression of) all emotions.
Spells, Incantations, and Artifacts
* Azarath Metrion Zinthos (Main spell and mantra commonly utilized by Raven to help focus, control and enhance her tremendous yet dangerous mystical powers, usually followed by projection of visible dark energy and any of a vast number of feats; if Raven is prevented from uttering this spell, at times she apparently is unable to activate her powers; also used by Raven and others in meditation)
* Necronom Hezberek Mortix! A form of wild, uncontrollable but incredibly powerful dark magic
* Hezberek Et Morine...Gost Wenthen Verbis Nex...Ind Obrium, Bis Pendrule...Paran Sic Cortis Rex! An extremely potent spell Raven uses to revoke the binding enchantment
* Aldruon, Enlenthranel, Vosolen Lirus-nor! A curse used to entrap someone into a enchanted book by projecting a stream of white energy that overpowers said person and locks his entire being, body and soul, into the book,
* Azarath Metrion Zinthos...Carazon Rakashas Enderez...Vaserix Endrien Azararth...Azarath, AZARATH! (An incantation utilized by Raven while sitting in a circle of magical sand from two flasks in her possession and a ring of lit candles around the circle, with bluish-white light pouring from the ring of sand and forming into a cylindrical barrier that reaches all the way to the ceiling of Raven's room, opening a swirling vortex-portal, which will bring Raven into a dimensional tunnel leading directly to Azarath, with this tunnel still susceptible to Trigon's attacks, though a magical seal will bar out all threats; Raven claimed even Trigon could not prevent her from "leaving", at least thus)
* Ciro...Enyawd...Vasarix...Zinthos...Metrion...Azarath!
* Azarath Metrion Zinthos...Kalazon Racashos Endarath...Vasirix Zendrien Azarath...Azarath! (A spell used by Raven in the Teen Titans Go! #44 issue, spoken while opening a mystic door in her bedroom in Titans Tower, leads at first into a white void, then into the dimension Azarath exists within)
Items and ArtifactsEdit
* Raven's mirror
* Book of Azar (an ancient book from Azarath having some connection to the peaceful monk Azar, which came into Raven's possession and was carelessly used by Larry to fly around the living room of Titans Tower, to Raven's displeasure and her angry claims it was not a "toy")
Dovahkiin turned to Trisha and gave her a confident smile.
"Aye and when we do I would have you regail me with the tales of your victories this day."
He said proudly before taking off into the sky after Raven. The son of Thor had been in many battles and even a few here in Midgard but for the first time he felt as though he was really going to be making a difference. The leader of the remaining heroes of Earth had asked him to assist Raven and he would see to that. It was his mission as given to him by Robin and he would not fail. Dovahkiin's body began to tingle with anticipation as he anxiously awaited the fight ahead.
"I pray this will be a battle worthy of song. What say you Raven? Do you see fortune in the fight to come?"
Dovahkiin couldn't help but allow a deep chuckle to roll from his throat at her response. Raven was most certainly not one to be easily flustered. He could tell that the moment they met. Yet when he she spoke to him Dovahkiin could see the hesitation, the apprehension. Perhaps it was him. The way they all spoke and dealt with things was so different than everything he knew. Perhaps it was merely that she was struggling to put things into terms she felt he would better understand. Or perhaps it was something more. Dovahkiin did not have the time to say anything further before they arrived to a chaotic scene. There were several armed gun men causing more than enough mayhem but there were two that stood out. A man and a woman. The man was massive. Standing easily eight or nine feet tall and thick with muscle. His body had a bluish tint to and icy vapors were rising off his body. The woman had another power all together.
"This mortal is a shadow of the evils of Jotunheim... I shall deal with him."
Dovahkiin said to raven as he eyed the man from the sky. While the air became alive with the impending fight an unseen presence observed the entire scene begin to unfold, all the while a low guttural clicking noise emanating from its throat.
Dovahkiin fell to the ground and managed to roll out of the way just in time as a tanker truck came crashing down on the man that held him in thrall only moments before. The half elder God rubbed his sore ribs and took in several well warranted breathes as he watched the truck hit him again and again. Surely that would be the end of the mortal but miraculously as Raven neared he threw the truck at her, crushing her into a nearby building. Dovahkiin saw in horror as she collapsed to the ground after the blow. The son of Wonder Woman snarled and charged, his body alive with white hot lighting. Dovahkiin's speed picked up and he was barely visible as the wind around him howled with rage and lended their strength to push him faster. When the son of Thor struck it was with the might and fury of the Gods. Iceberg and Dovahkiin went crashing into the building beside him. It was a savage cacophonouny of brutal close quarters punches and grappling. Bursts of lightning constantly exploding from the fight unseen by those around them as the pair fought in the building that was quickly crumbling under their battle. The structure bowed and began to topple just as Iceberg was sent flying out of the building, coming to a stop after he slammed into the street causing the ground to tear to pieces under the weight and impact of the big man. Iceberg slowly got to his unsteady feet. His mouth was bleeding and he had a massive gash on his forehead along with several other nasty gashes over his body. His eyes glaring at the falling building to see if his adversary would exit it. Dovahkiin granted the man his wish and strode out. His head held high as the building toppled behind him. Sporting a few new cuts of his own but significantly less than Iceberg.
"You should make your peace with whatever Gods you pray to mortal for you will meet them this day... This is not a fight you can win alone."
Dovahkiin said darkly as he stopped and stared at the big man.
"Who said he was alone hot stuff? Give us a kiss!"
An unnamed woman shouted as she leapt on Dovahkiin's back and planted a kiss on his neck. Dovahkiin screamed in pain and fell to his knees as redish light began emanating from the half elder God and began flowing into the woman. She paused to laugh maniacally as she caressed his jaw with her hand. The woman had long ebony colored hair. Her eyes were a swirling mixture of deep crimson red and night sky blue. Her attire was alluring, seductive and deadly all at the same time like she was some sort of dark temptress. Iceberg chuckled as his compatriot looked back down at Dovakiin.
"He's gotta be giving ya a hell of a power boost Siphon. He's strong as shit."
She cooed and nodded.
"I've never had anything like it...Oh he IS tasty...."
The woman's power seemed to draw away Dovahkiin's very essence. This soul rending seemed to tear at his very being and drained him then all the sudden he felt the power drain vanish granting the son of Thor the sweet embrace of freedom from the restraints of the power vacuum. Like a breath of fresh air to a drowning man Dovahkiin relished in the freedom from Siphon's power.
"Dovahkiin, are you alright?"
Spoke a voice that sounded like the enchanting sorceress he knew as Raven yet there was another voice beneath it, echoing it. Dovahkiin looked up to find Raven's back to him as she stood protectively between him and the unmoving body of Siphon. Dovahkiin gritted his teeth but got to his feet with a groan as Iceberg ran over to Siphon. Dovahkiin stepped up to Raven and reached out his hand but her power that was radiating off her seemed to warn him to not approach. The foreboding energy surrounding her sent a chill up the big man's spine yet he pressed on. He would not shy away from her. Dovahkiin feared for her. Feared she may be struggling with her vast power. He stepped forward and put his hand on her shoulder.
"She is dead then...her fight is over... Raven?...."
Dovahkiin's voice was heavy with concern as he waited for a response. For some sign of understanding from the woman.
"She's dead.... she's dead... babe?... Babe answer me.... babe?!"
Iceberg said almost manically as he held Siphon's lifeless body. The big man turned and his icy stare turned colder still. His gaze fixed on Raven.
"You bitch... You killed her... YOU KILLED HER!!!!"
He roared as he got up and charged at her. Massive ice spikes forming over his hands as he barreled for the sorceress with murderous intent. The son of Thor rocketed at Iceberg to protect Raven. His fists extended in front of him as he flew at the big man. Iceberg was like a mad bull now, blindly charging ahead, he barely seemed to notice Dovahkiin coming for him at all. Dovahkiin landed a massive blow to the man's jaw taking him clean off his feet and sending him flying through the building across from him. Dovahkiin followed, ready to end this fight. He met Iceberg and the two exchanged a quick salvo of blows, neither giving an inch until Iceberg landed a shot to Dovahkiin's gut causing the half elder God to back pedal in pain. Iceberg pressed his advantage but to no avail. Dovahkiin had recovered quickly and as Iceberg came down in hopes to skewer him with an ice spike Dovahkiin reached up and grabbed hold of his forearm before coating his fist in lighting and sending three savage blows into the man's face all the while holding firm so he wouldn't go anywhere. After the third blow Dovahkiin let loose his hold and sent a kick to the big man's chest, sending him flying back into a parked truck. Iceberg groaned in pain and rubbed the bruised and bloody remains of his face.
"Ya think I'm gunna let you stop me blondie?... Nah see, I'm gunna kill you... then I'm gunna tear that little purple slut to ribbons. Ya hear me?!"
Dovahkiin's fists clenched as he glared at Iceberg yet when he spoke his voice was as calm as steady water.
"Nay mortal.... I have no plans to die today nor will any harm befall Raven. Ragnarok will befall us all before the son of Thor allows that to happen."
With the last words the air around Dovahkiin sprang to life and lighting began to arc off his body as it began generating massive amounts of it. Every piece of metal around him began catching sparks from the raw power. Iceberg looked around in concern but his anger at the loss of Siphon gave him the false bravery to rise to his feet and charge Dovahkiin again. In an instant Dovahkiin roared and a massive lightning bolt shot from his hands and burned clean through Icebergs chest. The man was dead before he hit the ground in one massive heap. Dovahkiin took a breath, savoring the battle lust before turning to look at Raven who was still down the street.
Dovahkiin made his way down the street towards Raven. The sorceress was on her knees, her entire body shaking with raw emotion. Dovahkiin knew not what the cause of this was nor how to help her but his heart felt for her none the less. He knelt in front of her yet she would not look up. Her just staring at the cold concrete beneath her.
"Raven?...Raven?..."
Dovahkiin spoke softly his words, warm yet the worry was blatant. There was no response from the sorceress, no sign that she even recognized his presence. The son of Thor knew battle, knew violence and war yet this was something he knew little of. He reached out his hand and ever so gently touched the bottom of her chin tenderly lifting her head up just enough for her to make eye contact with him.
"Raven... It is all right now... Everything is going to be alright."
The entire tender moment was being carefully observed and monitored. The connection between the Son of Wonder Woman and Raven was carefully noted and cataloged by the shadowy figure lurking in distance.
Dovahkiin's eye brow arched as he stared at the woman. She appeared to be resolved. No different than how she should normally be yet he knew she was hiding something. Suppressing something. Dovahkiin was not aware that she had never taken a life. He wondered if any of the other Titan's had ever killed. Dovahkiin was a warrior, raised for battle. Death was a part of war. There was no way around that. It was a neccesary outcome of many conflicts yet the first life you take can shudder a man's soul and cause them to doubt their steel. Dovahkiin mad a mental note to speak with her later in hopes his experience with the burden that death brought on a warrior may be of some comfort to her. Dovahkiin nodded in agreement after Raven told him that they needed to help the others.
"Aye, there is still battle afoot and our allies may need our aid. Lead the way Raven, I shall follow."
The lighting caught Shyft right in the back causing the man to shout in pain and surprise as he was sent flying into a nearby car. Dovahkiin landed beside Dawnsong, chest puffed out boldly as he stared in the direction of where Shyft. Raven and Dovahkiin had only just arrived to find Dawnsong near unto death and Robin locked in a mortal battle with Red X. The son of Thor knelt beside the Son of Apollo and helped him to his feet.
"There, on your feet. I trust those... scratches haven't made you useless hmm?"
He asked with a warm smirk making light of Dawnsongs numerous injuries as only old warriors do. While Red X barely seemed to notice the new arrivals Shyft pulled himself out of the wreckage to glare at Dovahkiin.
"You're going to have to wait your turn big man. Jr there and I have unfinished business. Once he's staring at his own guts I'll get to you."
He said as got to his feet. Dovahkiin's eyebrow arched at the man's boldness. Despite the powers he'd been witnessing in the mortals of Midgard he was still shocked at the boldness and blatant disrespect shown to the Gods that walked among them.
"Nay mortal. I have no plans to die today nor will I allow an ally to fall. Yield now."
Shyft just chuckled.
"That's not going to happen."
As if on cue bullets began raining on the trio. Dovahkiin snarled in frustration at the cowardice of this Shyft refusing to fight him fairly. The bullets impacted and crumpled into Dovahkiin's flesh doing little more than causing brief instances of pain. The rounds did not pierce the skin yet the pain and bruises that would result from them began to harbor a distaste for the mortal weapons technology in the son of Thor.
In a red and yellow blur that appeared out of the shadows Robin had taken down the bulk of Shyft's men that had been firing at the heroes. With the distraction neutralized for the most part Raven, Dovahkiin and Dawnsong could focus on Shyft who was, at the moment, hurtling towards the trio. His body had stretched outward as if he was some massive serpent intent on constricting the heroes and ending the fight in one move. Unfortunately for Shyft he had little hope of defeating all three heroes at once. Dovahkiin extended both his hands and lighting arced from his fingertips in a continuous flow of white hot current that connected with Shyft and stopped him dead in his tracks. Shyft screamed in pain as the electricity coiled and arced around his body, unable to move as Dovahkiin's power held him in thrall and leaving him vulnerable to the attacks of the half Asgardian's allies.
Dawnsong
Dawnsong gratefully accepted Dovahkiin's help and regained his feet. The Thunderer had come out of nowhere, accompanied by the dark sorceress, and had probably saved Dawnsong's life by hurling Shyft away. Dawnsong's back was still throbbing with pain and blood was seeping from his wounds, but he didn't want to show his weakness in front of these two mighty warriors.
"It'll take more than a few scratches to finish me," he said to Dovahkiin, managing a weak smile. He didn't stay smiling for long, though. More bullets began raining down on them, but Raven deflected them with a shield of shadows before going after Shyft. Robin appeared out of nowhere and incapacitated most of the gunmen before disappearing again.
Shyft charged Raven, Dovahkiin and Dawnsong, expanding his body into a huge coiled shape in order to entrap them, but Dohavkiin swiftly stopped him with a barrage of thunderbolts, making him scream as he was rooted in place.
Now's my chance, thought Dawnsong. Thrusting his hands before him, he gathered all the energy he could muster. Golden fire exploded from his outstretched hands and arced towards Shyft, slamming into him, wrapping around him, wreathing him in a column of brilliant flames that rose high into the sky. Shyft's voice took on an even more agonising tone. The combination of lightning and flame was too much for his body. His skin blackened, burned and peeled away. His blood and bodily fluids boiled to a mist as his flesh was scorched to cinders. In a few moments there was nothing left of him but a lump of charred, misshapen flesh hissing on the street.
Breathing heavily, Dawnsong lowered his hands, his eyes glued to the remains of Shyft, his anger subsiding. The sight of the dead man sickened him. He had never willingly killed before.
I did that, he thought, his face darkening with emotion.
Red X
Slowly, he regained consciousness, his surroundings swimming back into focus. His body was still paralysed and wracked with pain, but it would wear off eventually.
Someone was standing close to him. Someone wearing a very familiar red, green and yellow uniform.
Shit, thought Red X. He saved me. And now I'm in his power.
"Answers?" Red X wheezed. Normally his mind would be racing, looking for an escape route, but his brain felt sluggish and stupid from the poison. "You can ask me all the questions you want. Doesn't mean I'll have the answers you're looking for, though."
