Introduction
Welcome, potential member of the Armageddon Clan! I hail from the Land of Dreams, better known as the Dreamscape.
You have entered this realm in your sleep. Here, you may encounter many other characters, from other places or times, even. Each is also asleep. You are not going to encounter these people in reality, but you will be able to interact with them here in this... dreamscape.
Out of Character:
This roleplaying group is dedicated to well-developed characters and interesting plotlines. I intend to fully utilize the capabilities of this new roleplaying format. This might even extend to setting a time for us all to get together and hold an IC chat here. Just so everyone knows, I'm in the Central Time Zone.
Together, we'll throw our character groups into lots of different scenarios or 'dreams'. Since it is a dreamland, the genre could be anything. We could even make some twists and say that the characters are animals for one roleplay, or vampires. Since they can be from any time you want (past, present, future, even fiction) this could cause interesting conflict.
Characters' relations to each other will be the same throughout the roleplay. Though at first they will all be strangers, any friendships that they build will be true throughout all dreams.
Application and Rules:
You need no invitation to join this group; simply submit as detailed of a character as you possibly can. However, there is a prerequisite: your character must pass the Mary Sue Litmus Test with below a score of 25. Please post this score in your character's bio after the history. I will also take the test. If I get a score fairly close to yours, then you'll be accepted. If not, I'll point out signs of a Mary-Sue that I'm missing.
Rules:
1 Keep up with the rules of the site.
2 Check back here frequently and don't leave us hanging.
3 Literacy, please. Posts of at least 150 words and preferably more. Use good spelling and grammar.
4 Original characters only. You may only have one. For now, at least.
5 Be creative. This is set in a flippin' dreamland, for God's sake. This is like the only roleplay where it's actually perfectly acceptable to make up random crap.
6 Take on a challenge. This isn't an actual rule, though. The point of this roleplay is to put you, a writer, in situations that challenge you. You might want to take on a different role than you are used to.
The Setup:
In case you're confused by this format, that's fine. I understand. Basically, you can post either IC or OOC under the tabs "Activity" or "Posting" at this URL. When you do so, make sure to adjust the dropbox 'Where?' appropriately. If you put it as "Reality", that means that you are OOC. Similarly, any subforums under "Dreamscape" are for IC only.
So that the two columns aren't completely muddled, you can also look under the tab "Places". There, you can see the listing of all the places currently available to post. If you click them, you can see all the posts that are at that location. But for now, only post under "Reality", since we haven't started any IC threads yet.
Current Situation:
Introduce yourself in the first roleplay. You are in a completely barren desert, with nothing as far as the eye can see. Except for several figures on the horizon... Now open for posting!

I'll be accepting an unlimited amount of roleplayers, provided that you can (a) create a good character, as stated in the Introduction, and (b) keep up or (c) let me know that you're not coming back so I can help you create a post about your "death". So, right now (Feb. 9, 2010, 7:51PM) we have three members. That's great. But there are definitely more people out there, so if you know of anyone literate enough to post here on a regular basis, send them an invite!
Back to my two fellow members: I have a rough idea for the first roleplay. It would be set in a barren desert (you can create stuff there, so it won't be barren for long) and our three characters could meet there in a dream. If more rp'ers come along, then we'll assimilate them into whatever roleplay that we're doing at the time. Sound good? (Post to Reality so I know that you're with me and know how to post... O_o)
OOC Notes
I don´t know if I´m having the wrong idea but It is a barren that expands and goes changing as dreams keep coming? Or is a barren that asimilates the dreams placing... lets say "the worlds" in it? Either way I like the idea of something hollow changing to be a full existence.
OOC Notes
As for this individual roleplay, see above. It would only be for a long enough time to get used to both each other and our characters. After that we'll probably start with a 'real' roleplay. So the barren desert idea would only be an introductory sort of thing, kind of like the tavern scene that always seems to take place at the beginning of a lot of fantasy roleplays.
(On a completely separate note, this whole roleplay group makes me laugh just a bit... it's a group of fantasy characters (one of which was created by a fictional author) meeting inside a fake dream world, a dream world is a figment of one's imagination anyway, taking place on a roleplay site. And they'll be undertaking all sorts of even more twisted scenarios. XD)

In her mind, Daena d'Ardeneta asked, Where am I? She could tell that she was dreaming, but the young mercenary from France had never seen such a place. So why was she here?
She snorted, a cloud of dust rising from her nostrils. She lifted her face from the barren earth, taking the time to brush the dirt from the side of her face and her curly brown hair. Looking down at her body, she noticed that she was still wearing the dirty tunic that she had slipped on before going to sleep. Back in Paris. Although this clearly was not Paris.
The only sound, the eerie whistling of the wind over sandy dunes, suddenly was drowned out by a booming voice in her head. It was neither male nor female, young nor old, good nor evil. It spoke and yet did not speak these words: WELCOME TO THE DREAMSCAPE... survive at your own risk.
Daena could care less that she was in a 'dreamscape'. Whatever that was. But the words 'survive at your own risk'... that sounded ominous. Like a challenge. Or a threat. And she didn't like either of the two, especially considering that the only possession she had here was a loose tunic that was just as likely to encumber her movements as it was to serve as a cover for her otherwise exposed body.
But just as she wished that she had a weapon, there was a strange slurping noise. As if the sand was swallowing something. Instead, it spit something up. First a handle, then the blade... Daena's eyes grew wide with awe and fear. It was her dagger!
Picking it - and herself - up from the ground, Daena began walking. It was not random motion, but she did intend to reach the top of the nearest sand dune. Without shoes, the desert floor was soft and malleable; her feet sank into its depths slightly and she had to struggle in her efforts to move about. Finally, though, she reached her goal. Staring into the distance, she suddenly ducked to the ground once more - there was someone else out there!

"Bloody hell!" complained the voice of a young girl as she awoke in the sand. Coughing, more of reflex than having actual sand in her mouth, Dispater rose slowly to her feet, brushing sand off her already dirty clothing. She felt lucky, having fallen asleep in her full attire the day before. Looking around, she couldn't help but to wonder slightly if she was still sleeping, or awake.
"Where.." she began, but was interrupted by a booming voice, declaring her current predicament. Putting her hands to her sides, the bad-tempered demon narrowed her eyes and twirled around for a source of sound.
"I'm in a what? I'm in where? Survive at what?" the girl brushed short, brown hair out of her eyes with a swift hand-movement.
"Get out here where I can see you, damned coward!" she growled at nothingness. Checking her pockets, she deducted a lack of weapons, and wondered for a moment if she had any when she went to sleep. The answer came when a slurping sound beside her revealed a sword lying on the ground beside her. Raising her eyebrow, she picked it up and tried it. It was the same one that was currently lying beside her bed back in London.
A slight movement in the distance had her preparing herself for battle as she walked slightly forth.
"Who's there?" she shouted.

Shizuru raised from the floor while combing her hair taking the earth out of it, but stopped while hearing a voice giving a strange message, she didn´t like the survive part, and what about the dream part? Shizuru move her head to side to side quickly, were was her spear... and her things?
Deciding to have a better look of the place Shizuru started to walk looking for a higher place to look, it was hard and the sand kept getting in her sandals, Shizuru sighed while walking she was trying to get directions from the place, but it was empty wherever she looked it was only sand, after a moment Shizuru noticed a strange beam of light coming from her left side, curious about what was making it she decided to walk in that direction, she breath relieved while she kept getting closer,it was her spear sticking in the sand with the edge pointing to the sky, that was making the light.
Shizuru didn´t took her spear after she reached it, she looked to the ground and didn´t move for a long while just staring at the ground and nodded after finding what she was looking for: her spear´s shadow, it took her another moments to realize where was the east and where was the west, Shizuru took her spear and started to walk to the east, it was hard walking in the sand and keeping the balance while grabbing her spear with one hand.
After a while Shizuru heard noises and a menacing voice, she reacted quickly making the characteristic sound of wind being cutted while swinging her spear and taking a defense stance kneeling on one leg, remembering the survive part she was getting ready for anything or anyone.

"I'm unarmed," she shouted, "mind telling me what's going on?"

He hit the sand. As he got to his feet, he looked at where he had come from. There was no trace of a plane anywhere in the cloudless sky. There was no trace of anything, not even the sun. It seemed to be eternal twilight, stuck forever between light and dark. A blank canvas dipped in grey paint, and never used since.
As he tried to gain a sense of his surroundings, he stumbled and fell. He had landed feet first, from a height of-how long had he been falling? He had no memory of jumping out of a plane. There wasn't a parachute on him. He might have fallen out of a hole in the sky, for all he knew. And he had wondered why his feet hurt.
The thought then occured to him: I could die here. It was not a fearful thought, nor an excited thought. It was simply a thought, like his brain was a computer and it had been typed out. All his thoughts seemed like that to him now. Readying for the war to come. He didn't know why he was fighting. He had never found any reason why he should, or shouldn't. It was his life, that was all. That was all his life was. His life.
He thought he had heard something on the way down. It might have been a hallucination. He had been getting a lot of those lately. He couldn't remember the words, though. He could only remember one word: Dreamscape. It might have been a joke, played by the radio operators. If so, it wasn't very funny, though he hardly knew what funny was. He hadn't had much of it. And he didn't get funny, either. The other soldiers obviously thought it funny to call him Master Chief, though he wasn't a Marine. He saw no humour in calling someone a soldier from a whole different branch of the armed forces.
He turned his situation around in his head. If this was a Dreamscape, then he was in a dream. That did not exactly comfort him. Emotion was not a facet of himself he entered very often, or indeed at all. He had almost forgotten emotion, and he tried to hang onto those last few memories of anger, happiness, sadness, and envy, even. Try as he might, though, they were slipping away. And try as he might, he couldn't stop them. Comfort wasn't exactly an emotion, but it was subjective. Julian had all but lost any opinion on anything. He did not know if his barracks were comfortable. He did not know, because that was an opinion. Julian had long since learnt that opinion was for the leadership, not for normal grunts. He stuck to the objective. Things that would always be the same, no matter what. Opinions could change, but true, definite facts could not. Belief was not something that his role demanded of him. All he had to do was execute orders, orders based on other peoples' opinions, and not his.
Julian was suddenly awakened from his reverie by a beeping sound. A flashing diamond in his HUD indicated a moving form in the distance, which seemed to be human, and female. The diamond flashed grey: it could not be told whether the female was hostile. Even so, Julian started walking. Whoever she was, she might know something that could help him understand what exactly was happening.

"Uhm," she said, trying to feign the typical, uncertain, teenager. "Where am I, exactly?"

Daena had only just heard the final comment. She spun around, a glare like lightning in her eyes, and the dagger, which was only about as long as the mercenary's forearm, was held aloft. "Who are you? And why are you here? Keep away from me!" she demanded, noticing the lumpy sword that was hidden inside that ridiculous coat that the girl was wearing.
Just as she spoke those words and thought about how she could escape, the sand nearby made a squelching noise. Something else was coming out of the ground, but it definitely wasn't a person. Daena whirled into this as well, trying to avoid taking her attention off of either the girl or the strange noise.
After a minute or so, the sand had spat out an entire horse. The painted stallion pranced about, scuffing clouds of the dust by its feet. She had never seen it before in her life. "Amazing... that's what I thought about... and it happened!" she murmured, fascinated. Still with her dagger pointed at Dispater, she thought, I wish that the horse would die. And in an instant, the sand below its feet turned to quicksand, sucking it into the depths.
Unabashed, she turned back to Dispater, triumphantly. "What now?" she said, quickly thinking, I'm invincible. No one can kill me with their thoughts. She hoped that this would hold true if she thought about it.
OOC Notes
"Woah, I'm not hurting you, why would I?" Dispater commented, but the sentence disappeared in as a horse emerged from the ground.
Dispater was slightly preoccupied with pointing at the place where the horse had been devoured by the ground, her eyebrow raised.
"Now, I haven't entered this plane of existence before, but I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen," she said, more to herself than the other one. She looked at Daena, setting back into her slightly amused expression.
"If you're working for Conlon, tell him he's not paying me nearly enough for this," she said, turning around to look for the source of that damned sound she kept hearing, but nothing was there. It was then it hit her, what Daena just said.
"Hang on a mo', did you just think that horse into existence?" always the slow-poke, Dispater looked at the other one in surprise.
OOC Notes
He approached them with curiosity, and an inexplicable nervousness. How did people from the past behave? He didn't even know how people from the present behaved, outside of the military complex. But why was he nervous? If they attacked him, he could easily gun them down, or stab them, or almost anything else. If he wanted to, he could shove sand down their throats. So why was he nervous?
The girl in the hoodie and jeans looked at him, and he knew why.
OOC Notes
From her she were she could see two girls, one pointing to other with what Shizuru thought was a little sword. What was happening? Was the girl involved in the survive thing from earlier? Shizuru grabbed her spear with strength maybe she could help the girl and leave that strange place at the same time, she was about to stood up when she noticed one person more, of the 3 that person was the one wearing the strangest clothes she had ever see, specially in the head what was that? If it was a helmet how could he breath... or see?
Shizuru sighed and stood up, even if they were dangerous it could be a chance that they know where they were, she started to walk down the sand dune pointing her spear to the ground showing she meant no harm to them, she stopped when she was close enough to hear them, for some reason the tree of them felt dangerous to her.
OOC Notes
"Okay," she said, taking a moment to breathe, wondering what to say. "Does anyone know what's going on here?" she decided.
It was hard to analyse the situation, seeing as the demon usually didn't give herself the time to do so. In most cases, it was pretty clear; these were the people to kill, and those were the people paying her to kill them. She couldn't think of any magicians she might have pissed of recently, but she did know that if her old master felt bored; this was probably how he'd get back at her. Looking at the other ones, she noted that they looked as confused by this situation as she did. Perhaps he wanted to get back at them as well, or just felt like including them for his own pleasure.
OOC Notes
"Yes I just thought that horse into existence." She tried to snap the words in a rough tone, but for some reason they turned to excitement in her mouth. "And out of existence as as well. Apparently we can do that here."
Something clicked in her mind, although she felt as though she had known such a fact for the longest time. "None of us are from the same times, are we?" The girl with the dark hair had strange but oddly familiar attire, but the other one had futuristic-looking clothes; the man had on a costume which Daena had never imagined could exist. But nothing made sense in this place.
(Sorry, not the longest post in existence. But I was (a) bumping the thread and (b) trying to move this along so we can get to more interesting situations.)
OOC Notes
"Yeah, I can see what you mean," she answered, look especially at the astronaut. "It doesn't seem like anyone of us are from the correct period of time. Though I'll admit that where we're from doesn't bother me half as much where we are. I can't remember a dimension like it!" she swung a hand in frustration, kicking the sand. Looking towards the distance, she decided enough was enough.
"Well, you guys have fun in the sand, I'm gonna find what else is around here," she said, starting to walk in a random direction.
((same excuse as Music for the short post))
OOC Notes
Shizuru looked around when she heard the others girls talking about time periods and dimensions again she leaned her head to a side not understanding what they were talking about. Where they talking about countries? After a moment of doubt Shizuru saw how one of the girls was starting to leave in her own making her doubt if it was better to stay there or follow her example after a moment Shizuru decided to just look to the horizon as if she was expecting to see something there.
