Introduction
… Until one day, Soar suddenly went crashing into the sea below it. Many of the Wise died in this catastrophe. War broke out. Chaos ensued. What exactly happened?
History
The Wise were a reclusive race, which preferred to stay in their floating castle, Soar. The only times they came down was for communication with the ‘lesser races’ of Gaix, whom they ruled. Although the races were sometimes indignant that a race they had little to no knowledge about was actually ruling them, on account of the fact that their rule had always brought peace, they never questioned them any further.
The Wise were humanoid creatures, which, in appearance, look exactly like humans. However, it is said that they are extremely intelligent, and possess powerful magical abilities that far surpasses any race on Earth. There are rumors that the Wise themselves up to the castle, Soar-, usually personally invites those who possess strong enough magic though these were never quite confirmed.
During the crash of Soar, there was supposed to be a meeting convened in the capital of the humans to have the leaders of the Elves and the Vampires to make peace. The crash supposedly pushed the Wise close to extinction, and with them gone, the Elves and Vampires started on a war that was to be called the ‘7 Day War’. It lasted a week, and ended in a stalemate.
However, this was only the beginning. The Vampires, they themselves left unchecked, began to call in more allies to their aid. Amongst the first were the Humans, then the Dwarves. They then embarked on a campaign against the Elves, citing their arrogance as the reason for the war. The Elves, against a coalition of three different races, lost the war.
But that wasn’t enough to bring Gaix to peace. The Vampires were now keen to be the new rulers of the world after the Wise. The coalition broke up, and now, the Vampires were up against the other races.
Vampires
No, they don’t fear the light. They are physically stronger and faster than humans, but are completely void of magic. Unlike humans, they are not able to utilize magic spells to aid them in battle, nor are they able to touch magically enchanted items as the touch of magic hurts them severely.
They have blood, and losing too much blood will kill them. They can suck blood, either by the traditional method of biting the neck, or for stronger ones, ‘drawing’ the blood out from a living organism. However, the living being must be in close proximity, and this requires the vampire to be so entirely focused on the job that it might as well suck blood the traditional way.
When they die, they turn into ashes, and a wind will stir, to blow the ashes into the air. (It happens for any Vampire.)
Legends
The rule of the Wise is not without legends or amazing anecdotes to back them. There is a reason why the races were so subservient to this enigmatic race that they rarely encounter.
- Meteora
According to Human records, there was a Warlord named Tharnoth, who wanted to unify the world under his rule. His first major obstacle was of course, the Wise. He started by gathering the support of all his fellow people in his city of Aera. Thereafter, he launched attacks on neighboring cities of other races. Caught by surprise, the cities of the other races collapsed easily enough, but certainly, the Wise would not do anything about this.
They tried the diplomacy route, sending a messenger via the humans. Tharnoth did not intend to rule as a figurehead under the Wise. He had the messenger slain and continued on his furious campaigning, gathering more people to his cause. Some of the races’ cities surrendered just to ensure their survivability and fought alongside him.
However, he became such a threat that all the races put aside their historical animosities to fight him. Of course, as charismatic as he can be, there was only so much he could do. Tharnoth lost battles after battle. Seeing his initially substantial army reduced to such a petty amount, he surrendered, promising that he will now rule peacefully until his death in Aera. He also offered to demilitarize the city and have other races place peacekeeping forces in Aera. Also, Tharnoth promised that annual tributes will be offered to all races.
Seeing such wonderful conditions, the races accepted this surrender. There were some races that wanted to thoroughly eliminate them, like the Humans- not under Tharnoth- for instance. However, the other races brushed them aside.
Tharnoth returns to his city with his men, defeated, but glad to be alive. Unfortunately, as they finally got into the city, a Meteor came crashing down on the city, thoroughly destroying it. There were no survivors, and through the Humans, the Wise proclaimed that if in the future, anyone were to dare challenge the peace of the world, they would suffer the same fate as Tharnoth.
- The Forty-Six-Year War
This was a war between the coalition of Elves, Dwarves, Angels and Faeries against another coalition of Vampires, Undeads and Minotaurs.
There was a war of conflicting moral values. During the time before the start of the war, there was supposedly a spike in the cases of brutal murders committed by Vampires as well as Minotaurs. According to the claim of the ‘Good Coalition’, which is the coalition of Elves, Dwarves, Angels and Faeries, all these were to help bolster the armies of the Undead to overthrow the other races.
The Vampires, Undeads and Minotaurs, of course, refute this accusation, blaming the murders on the whims of certain of their people who had went berserk. The war broke out on the eve of a fine morning, on the Lunar Plains. This historic battle marked the start of the war, which lasted sixty years.
At the height of the war, some thirty-nine years after the start, a bloody battle happened yet again on the Lunar Plains. In this battle, the forces of both coalitions met on the plains, and fought a fierce battle. The battle was bloody, and witnesses have said that the plains were thoroughly stained red and littered with bodies after the battle was concluded with the hasty retreat of the several races.
After that, was a period calm that lasted for 7 years, as both coalitions struggled to recover their manpower. Throughout all this time, the Wise had been trying very hard to use diplomacy to bring peace to both sides. However, they could not be consoled with just words. The war continued.
Having regained most of their forces after a rest period of 7 years, the coalitions decided to meet each other on the Eastern Plains to end the war once and for all. The day of reckoning arrived soon enough.
According to anecdotes, the day was dark and stormy. It seemed almost like it was about to rain, but the forces were there nonetheless.
Their flags were hung up on poles proudly as the armies came into position and arranged themselves. Before the war drums started sounding, a bolt of lightning struck the plains between the two armies, stunning them. A humanoid figure materialized exactly where the bolt struck. Looking around him, he addressed in a loud voice that seemed like thunder itself.
The races had no doubt this man was one of the Wise. “Hear, ye races. The Wise will not tolerate such catastrophe. We may have kept silent during the Bloodbaths at Lunar Plains, but that is the only exception. Be warned.”
Those were the exact words of the man. As soon as he said that, he vanished into thin air. There was a period of confusion amongst the ranks as they began wondering amongst themselves if obedience would be their best choice of action. However, the leaders decided that they would go ahead anyway. Only the Minotaurs opted to retreat.
It was a wise move. As they retreated, the other races charged at each other. As soon as they did that, the dark clouds in the sky suddenly swirled about, revealing the stars and interplanetary objects above. Lightning cackled, and came down on some unlucky soldiers. The force of these lightning was such that the ground shook where it struck.
The races quickly saw that escape was their next best course of action. They hurriedly retreated, the lightning inflicting more casualties on them as they ran. Thus ended the Forty-Six-Year War. A Peace Treaty written by the Wise was given to the various races. Compelled by this incident, the races found themselves compelled to obey the Wise. They signed on the treaty, and heralded in a period of peace.

Re: [OOC] The Castle In The Sky
However, in the case of a Vampire mating with a Human, the outcome would be a half-Vampire, in cruder language in the role-play, a 'Vaman'. All half-breeds are scorned and looked down upon. A Half-Vampire have the strength and agility of a Vampire, albeit weaker, and are able to use the most basic spells of any element, especially the Dark elements.
I'd appreciate more details in the back story though, especially which side she's on. That, and it'll be good to help spread more word of this role-play out. Can't wait to start :P
Re: [OOC] The Castle In The Sky
Class: Warrior
Age: 374
Race: Vampire
Appearance:
Adeliere has long brown hair that she keeps up out of her face. She stands at 5'6".Personality: She very strong-will but reserved. She knows when it is the correct time for being bubbly and when to be serious.
Abilities: She can work wonders with a sword.
Back Story: Adeliere is a very strong-willed person. She got that from her father. Her mother died after giving birth to her. Her father taught her everything she knows now. How to fight and how to act like a lady. Her father recently passed away and she's determined to bring honor to their names.
[Is the backstory okay? Can Vampires give birth? Can they mate with humans? Are they eternal? I'll add more to the back story once I know the answers.]
