Introduction

You shouldn't be here. That is all you know.
Apart from this constantly present fact, you can't be sure of anything else.

You woke in a grey room on a bed without a mattress or a cushion. Just cold steel, more like a table than a bed, to chill your naked body like the rest of the metal room. There was only a door and a screen embedded in the wall, a black screen, with nothing to distract you except for a red light only a few inches above the door.
You soon discovered that there was no way to open your only exit, or open your memories. Your mind was blank, yet as you experienced each sensation they returned. First came the cold, and the fear of being alone. You weren't sure which made you shiver the most, but as you thought, you revealed to yourself a concept you had come to know over the years as language. You spoke fluently, and could recall an entire arsenal of words to fire sentences with. You recognised your surroundings and what you saw as what they were, and that was when the black screen caught your attention.

Lethos. It was the only word in his mind that could not be strung together with a meaning. He probably would not have thought of such vocabulary if he hadn't seen the word flashing in blue against a dark screen. He could read, it seemed. He could also make out that what was before him was some form of computer, except there was no mouse or keyboard to speak of. Nothing to interact with.
The young male leaned closer, shivering, and hoping that whatever had caused the name to appear would also cause clothes to form part of his new reality.
Clothes. He remembered that he was embarrassed about not wearing them, even if there was nobody else to see him.
This triggered a second, random thought. There were others. Other humans. That was what he was, and what was missing, along with many other things.
“Is anybody there?” he called out hopefully. Calling and hope were, despite seeming somewhat similar, in a sense of the word, were infinitely new. So was the desire to have someone answer, to make him feel as if he was not alone in the strange experience. Unfortunately, no audible response was destined to return. It would have destroyed the fragile hopes clinging on to the curiosity that he felt at that moment if it hadn't been for the screen's change.
'Welcome' was the only new word visible. It now read 'Lethos. Welcome.' Which was not much help, but assured him that somebody was near enough to spy on him.
Spy? He had woken up in a strange room only minutes ago without clothes and was being spied on? What kind of sick game had he involved himself in? There had been no such definition before, but memories came to mind. Not actual memories, but the concept itself. He had none. None to help him remember how he ended up in such an event, or serve him as a guide to escaping from rooms with doors that could not be opened.
Then the words, those figures that had assured him that another presence with their as invisible company, vanished. It was a moment of worry, but these words that had mercilessly decided to fade into the darkness behind them were rapidly replaced.
'Do not worry. You are safe.'
Safe. How he wished he was. No matter what a certain monitor told him, he was not convinced. Only the next sentence to appear altered his monotonous thoughts of fear.
'You, now named Lethos, have been chosen. Please make your way into the next room in a calm manner.'
Lethos was a name, it seemed. His. And he, Lethos, he been chosen for a certain something that no guesses could be made about without moving calmly into the next room.
His thought process was confirmed by the red light above the door becoming green. Next to occur was the opening on the door, which appeared to be more of a plank as it slid silently into the wall, revealing an extremely large circular room.
It was empty, apart from what in a far away universe could be described as a table. It was an inverted cone of sorts, balancing on its point in the centre of the large circle that was the famously known next room. There was not much else to draw the attention. Only many other doors, just as grey and knob lacking as the one that had just opened before Lethos. Fifty was the first guess of what would have been many more if Lethos had not been distracted by the cone of the same colour as everything. Deep down, Lethos knew that he would have done a much better job if he had been the one to paint the place, despite having no available memories to show him if he was even able to paint.
The distraction came in the form of a thin layer of blue light rising to little more than an inch, covering the surface of the cone's top in its entirety. What then left this eerie light like a small object ascending silently from a still lake could only be described as a hologram. It was similar to the screen from the previous room, only paper thin, and apparently immaterial.
It depicted a perfect circle, divided horizontally by a thin line, separating two colours; blue and red. Both very dark shades.
'Please choose a colour' spoke the monitor. Lethos was, understandably, shocked. No speakers could be seen, and the voice sounded completely robotic. Perhaps it was not another human watching him, but a machine. An intelligent machine, that had buried the memories Lethos knew had once been.
'Please choose a colour. Blue, or red' it repeated. Clarifying, as if Lethos had no idea what a colour was.
“Blue,” Lethos announced with a quiver in his tone. The hologram seemed to accept this, recognising Lethos' response by sinking once again into its source of light. Lethos stood quietly before the light emanating cone, arms covering the organs he would rather not be seen by either man or machine. He would have spent the next moments searching for some sort of exit if the same monotonous voice had not kicked into action once again.
'Lethos. You have been chosen from the random population to participate in an E-Tech project. You have chosen Blue. This means that you will now fight on Team Blue against Team Red. Like all other participants, you have been manipulated to possess a unique ability that is currently locked. Upon leaving this room for Team Blue's base, your ability will be unlocked, and the countdown shall begin. The rules are simple. Using your ability and all resources available, Team Blue will engage Team Red until only one remains. Kills can only be made within the opponent's shaded area, after crossing the centre line. Any who kill within their own team's shaded area will be terminated by E-Tech themselves. Only those that survive the project will be released. For questions and training you will meet one of our own participants in your team's base. Is everything clear?'

Like Lethos, you underwent this experience. And like Lethos, you made your way out of this circular room through a singular, opened door into a white light. This light lead you to your base. A fortress of grey, thick rock. Empty, in the middle of a grey wasteland filled with the ruins of vehicles and past wars. Until others arrive, Lethos is locked in, alone and fearful, anxious, for when the doors open and the battle begins, he will kill or be killed.

# The Blue Base, 2010-07-29 15:32:09, as written by Cataclysm
And so, Lethos left Spawn.

Blinding white light gushed forth from what had been a dull, grey door, engulfing Lethos completely. For that brief moment he saw nothing, and only when reality returned could he take in his new surroundings.

There was an interrupted silence at first, then broken by sounds in the distance that could be described as bones being snapped rapidly. These noises were muffled by thick stone walls, the only opening in their surface being a set of grand, rusted, metal doors that were flung open immediately.

It seemed he was in a medieval throne room of sorts. His clue? Behind him was a throne, dirty, a victim of time like everything else in that more or less empty space. Apart from the once impressive seat of power there was nothing else except for a number of rock pillars... and a large screen behind it. There was no time to investigate. As soon as the doors swung apart the unidentifiable sounds became clear. Gunfire, mixed in with shouts. He wasn't completely alone, the fact made evident by two male figures who ran into the room, armed with handguns, wearing the same camouflage Lethos was... that was strange.

Only moments ago, in that circular room, he had been naked. Now, he found himself armed, bearing upon him black and grey clothing covering a bullet-proof vest. Such an unpredictable place he had found himself in.

"Only one of you?" one of the approaching males asked, seemingly annoyed. He was large, well built, with a shaved head. His tone expressed well his frustration. "Damn it. We need new recruits. And look at this one... scrawny as hell." As he spoke the floor rumbled slightly. Something could be heard collapsing in the distance. Some sort of structure.

"It doesn't matter Tank," the other said softly. His voice, unlike his companion's, was almost hypnotic. "He may be useful," he turned to Lethos with an inviting smile. "Tell me, boy. What can you do?"

Do? Lethos couldn't remember any of his past, let alone what he was capable of doing.

"I, er... er..."

Great choice of words.

Tank shook his head and turned to leave. The shouts were drawing closer, as were the sounds of weapons. Even before Lethos could continue his magnificent speech another figure passed by the doors, clutching a shoulder injury, stopping to enter the throne room. Blood was seeping through the gaps between fingers, and her face was evidence enough of her pain.

"Tank, Dyne. Team Red has breached the walls. They're too many. Some of them are inside the fortress. What do we-" She was cut off before she could finish. Bullets riddled her already weakened state, knocking her to the ground mercilessly.

"They're this deep already?" Tank shouted after biting his bottom lip. He raised his weapon and took aim at the open doors. "Dyne, make sure he doesn't enter. I'll keep him distracted. Newby, do whatever you can. We'll take you to see Guardian later."

He issued orders harshly, with a certain inspiring tone that Lethos had not perceived previously. He felt motivated, but had no idea how he was supposed to act. His lack of movement was further fueled by the appearance of... something in the hall on the other side of the large doors, like a puddle, or a shadow, or some sort of strange fusion between the two. The something glided across the wall, and the one named Dyne approached. Like Lethos he carried a single handgun, and before Lethos could inquire as to the goings on the other was firing rather accurately at the evading shadow. The form drew closer, bullets driving into it and passing straight through as if it didn't exist at all, cracking the stone, slabbed ground. It seemed to stop on the floor inches from Dyne, the gun wielder still firing, and from the liquid, black surface a human arm emerged. The fingers wrapped tightly around Dyne's leg, only to release moments later due to the bullet traversing the wrist. It retreated back into the puddle immediately and withdrew from Dyne to a position on the wall.

“We have to lure it out,” Dyne announced. Tank nodded and ran at the wall whilst Dyne held back with his weapon raised. Lethos did the same and waited to see what other actions he could copy.

Tank collided with the wall, and upon contact it gave way, breaking into large pieces of stone. With no solid surface to run against, the alien puddle morphed and appeared to take human form before descending from it's spot to the ground. The it was a woman, dressed in the same clothing as everyone but with a patch of red that identified her as the so called Team Red. That much Lethos could understand easily.

She fell, and as her feet touched the floor she began to sink into yet another liquid form, but was first struck by another bullet. Blood spurted from the wound and the injured woman fell back with a thud, up to her waist in shadow, but pulled herself in completely before Dyne could fire again or Tank could recover from his careless charge.

“Come on, Newby,” Tank shouted as her emerged from thrown up dust and rubble. He instantly headed for the shadow that, no sooner had the woman entered, was escaping alone the ground. “There are more of them outside.”

The pair left the abandoned throne room in a rush, leaving Lethos alone. Nervous, he looked over his shoulder for any sign of other 'newbys' that might be sharing his fear of this new place. With a gulp he attempted to take in what he had just seen and followed the leaders.

For minutes the trio weaved through what seemed to be an entire medieval castle, and as they emerged into the courtyard, Lethos saw exactly what this new world held in wait for him; two teams fighting. Red and Blue, each with their own, unique 'abilities' it seemed. There were more or less ten of his own and an equal number of red's that could be identified then and, in shock, Lethos retreated from the action to watch from afar. He was confused... afraid... and was hoping for someone to show up that could help him, even if only a little.

# The Project, 2010-07-29 21:51:49, as written by Lightningflash
Psyche crept through the chilly stone halls of the blue base. He hated going in there; the echos created by the long passageways tended to throw off his hearing. Concentrating his mind, the teen performed a psychic sweep of the surrounding area. A rough image of the hallway formed in Psyche's mind, which he then analyzed. The narrow hall stretched as far as he could 'see', with a few doors placed along it at regular intervals. There didn't seem to be any immdeately threats.

Psyche froze in place as a spectacular image filled his head, pushing all other thoughts out of his mind. He was flying through a long tunnel of golden light. As he reached the end, he saw himself, standing where he was currently standing. The door behind him flung open, a blue team member lunging towards him-

The teenager snapped back to reality, leaping forewards as the aforementioned door burst ajar. He jumped back up to a standing position, whipping out his gun. "How did you possibly know?" the foe cried in confusion. "You're blind, for cryin' out loud!"

Psyche tapped the side of his forehead, smirking smugly. "Psychic. I know everything you do; every thought, every memory." The other man seemed disturbed by this, but recovered quickly.

"Well, kid," he said, smilng evilly, "were you expecting this?" He stomped his foot on the ground, causing small tremors to wrack the hallway. A large stone pillar shot upfrom the floor, trapping Psyche's hands within it. The man pointed his handgun at Psyche in a 'prepare to die' sort of way.

"Yes, I expected it," Psyche replied, sighing, "but I did not expect you to do it so soon. Lucky for me, I can do this." Once again focusing his mind, the stone shackles imprisoning his wrists shattered as if they were glass. Turning to his adversary, he lifted the man up, bouncing him off the walls and ceiling like a kitten with a ball of yarn. When he stopped, the poor guy was bruised, bloody, and clearly dead. "There's my kill for the day," he said, picking the man's pockets for ammunition and weapons.

After shoving the corpse in the closet from whence he came. Whistling softly, Psyche strolled down the corridor, until he came to some large double doors. Pushing them open, he came out into the courtyard, where the major battles were taking place. Adjusting the cloth over his eyes, Psyche sent out a message to his squadron leader. "New entry point, sector seven," he projected.

"Good job, kid," his ally thought back. "Thanks."

After sending a 'you're welcome', Psyche did a scan of the immedeate area. He sensed masses of people locked in deadly combat, as well as an outsider. He was, as far as Psyche could tell, a blue, as well as a n00b. The experienced psychic could have easily taken the boy out, but he wasn't that kind of person. Thinking back to his days as a rookie, Psyche felt a pang of sympathy for the enemy operative.

"Hey, kid," he thought out to the person. "You new to this hellhole?"

((I hope it's OK that Psyche talked to the enemy(Lethos). I thought it would make for an interesting conversation.))

"Hey, kid," he thought out to the person. "You new to this hellhole?"

Lethos suddenly sprung around, searching for whoever had just spoken. To be completely honest he wasn't sure exactly if anyone had actually physically opened their mouths, but there was no mistaking the fact that he had just heard a voice. Well, everything in this place was new, and this was just one more surprise added onto the rest.

“Yes,” Lethos admitted quietly, almost speaking to himself as he gazed around the courtyard in an attempt to single out the second member in their conversation. Everyone was occupied in combat, and that meant that whoever was spending their time with him was nearby and either expertly hidden or well disguised. At least one thing was certain. He was speaking with an ally. In such a place no enemy would show this sort of empathy. But, it did make Lethos think. If an ally could sneak up on him that easily than an enemy could quite possibly do the same. Nervously, Lethos retreated a little further from the battlefield and crouched behind one of the courtyard's pillars to stay out of sight. “I'm new. I need help,” he continued. His fingers were wrapped tightly around his handgun, ready to fire at any given moment. That having been said, he wasn't sure who to shoot at. Engaged in battle around him he noticed that allies and enemies alike were passing as he remained unnoticed. Perhaps that was the 'ability' Tank and Dyne claimed that he possessed. Maybe he wasn't in as much danger as he thought.
“I'm going in,” he said out loud to his mysterious contact and stood up. Just then a Team Red member ran past and his gaze fell upon Lethos. The newby froze, but breathed a sigh of relief as bullets rained down up that certain Team Red member, forcing him to forget Lethos. That confirmed that stealth was not his power, he had been openly looked at and probably would have met his end of it hadn't been for his allies.
“Come on newby, get in here,” shouted Tank from a distance. “How will you find out what you can do if you don't get involved?”
Lethos shrugged in response, realizing that the brute was correct. Breathing in deeply and beginning to concentrate on what he was to do, her carefully left his hiding pot and raised his weapon, only to feel the sudden penetrating pain of a bullet in the leg. Pathetically he crumbled to the ground and cried out for whoever had been watching over him previously as he observed Tank almost mindlessly continuing his spree of killing.

"Damn," Psyche muttered as he sensed a bullet go into the kid's leg. Painful memories flashed through his mind as he remembered his first day.

Psyche was running; he didn't know from who, or from what, but he was running nonetheless. He barely had time to learn about his power before the Blue team attacked. Omega, the kind woman who had helped him, was shot, and her dying word was "Run." And run he did. The teen wound through the long, narrow halls of the rusted ship that served as the Red base. Red lights flashed and sirens sounded, alerting all of the team members to the attack.

Suddenly, he hit a wall, or what he thought was a wall. Looking up, Psyche noticed a tall, muscular Blue team soldier. The burly man had an evil grin on his face, and was obviously enjoying the situation. Fire erupted from the foe's hands, rushing towards Psyche. Then, blackness.

"I think he's awake," a voice called out. Psyche still couldn't see anything, which confused him greatly.

"Where am I?" he called out weakly. "And why are the lights out?" Nervous muttering erupted all around the teen, confusing him even more. "What?" he cried. "What's wrong?"

"The lights are on," the voice said again. "You're in the infirmary, and... you're blind."

Psyche shook the thoughts from his head. He didn't care what his commander would do to him, but he couldn't let another suffer that kind of pain. The young man formed a psychic barrier around himself, and started to walk. To most of the onlookers, it was a sight to behold. One lone child was walking through a spray of bullets, completely unharmed. The small projectiles hit his barrier, then ricocheted off in another direction. Same went for people, and anything else. With each and every blow, Psyche felt himself weakening, but finally made it to the other boy.

"Bet you weren't expecting me, huh?" he said while rolling the teen onto his back. "Hold still, I can help." Concentrating his powers, he slowly removed the bullet from the entry wound. He dropped the small pellet of lead to the ground. "I can heal the wound if you want, but it'll hurt. A lot."

((Sorry, guys, I haven't been on much or checking RPs. I'm a bit late. Incoming N00B!))

Behind the metal walls, waking up. She could not recall ever being so confused. In fact, couldn't recall anything. Inside herself, she was empty. A tin figurine. As she looked around, her eyes wide as she passed through a door, and into some kind of room. Laying a hand on the door, she could feel it vibrating. Bijora stumbled as it swung open, and she tripped into the floor.

"Ah!" she cried, as a gun skittered across the ground. She looked around to the sight of combat, bullets whirring through the air. Before she knew it, she was on her feet, the gun clutched in her hand and her knuckles beginning to split from the tightness of her grip. The door behind her swung closed, the lock mechanism already clamped tight. A lump formed in her throat as a clash of different feelings warred inside her. Some were savage, fierce, determined. She began to shake, her knees weak, when a specifically strong wave of someone else's bloodlust took over. Her arm moved, her finger perched on the triggernof the gun as her eyes found her target; a man, his arms covered in ice, around his chest, on the bulletproof vest, a red line. Before she knew what she was doing, Bijora pulled the trigger, and a bullet passed through the air and lodged itself in the person's hip. Bijora looked up, horrified as the man stumbled and fell.

She clenched her fists. The gun still in her hand. She was confused, she had no past that she knew of, and she knew that ultimately, she would probably die.

"I hate this place already."

((Sorry this is so short... I have no idea what to do at the moment, my creativity is not at it's best today... T_T))

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

I've finally started, so you can all post away now. Sorry about the intro post being so short, by the way. I couldn't get my USB back so I had to write it up quickly.

All Team Blue members need to start in the Blue Base defending, but they can either by experienced members who know what their doing or n00bs like Lethos. Team Red members who have already entered The Project need to be on the attack, and those just entering now will appear to find their base empty with only the Guardian for company. I'll post as The Guardian for now.

Enjoy, all.

I am pretty ashamed to say that I forgot about this. I have the intro post ready, but forgot to post it. As soon as I have my USB back from a friend it will be posted, probably tomorrow.

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

I thought we were able to start already.... T_T

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Any idea when this is starting?

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

OK, never mind then. thanks!

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Guardian is a person who basically acts as a mentor for new recruits during their beginning. Guardian cannot kill or be killed, making the job very boring. If you want to start out as Guardian, you can, but if you also want to actually take part in the action then we would have to discuss a reason to have you stripped of your purpose over PM.

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Is the guardian a player in the Evolution Event, or a person who works for it? It it's a player, then:

Hey 123rave123, unless you want your character to be guardian, I can make mine be it. It doesn't really matter to me, you decide.

If not, then nm.

Also, if the guardians are players, do they have to kill someone every 24 hrs too? Even though they aren't allowed to be killed?

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Well, that depends on the players. If you all want to eliminate the other team, then eventually, that will be what happens. However, if someone wants to try and find a way out of The Project, then that is also a possibility.

Of course, simply fighting one another is the easier option, though between each other we would have to discuss which team will be victorious. Anyone who wants to do something different will have to make a little effort. I don't want anybody destroying evey NPC member of the opposite team just to infiltrate their base and discuss the current conditions.

Basically, this will all depend on character actions. Some clues as to why your are in The Project and it's purpose will appear if certain choices are made, and if it is decided that the characters will react to these clues, then more will be revealed.

Before I forget the to say these, these are the rules of The Project.
- Kills must be made. At least one every twenty-four hours. Anyone who fails to comply will be terminated.
- There will be fourteen combat hours and twelve rest hours every day. Anyone who kills during rest hours will be terminated. During combat hours one may rest at their own risk.
- Those who attempt to enter Spawn will be terminated.
- Guardian is a member who will help new members adapt to The Project. One Guardian per team. Any violent action made against one's own Guardian or the enemy team's Guardian will be punished with termination.

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Is this RP going to be one battle, since one team is always obliterated? Or will our chars find a way out of it?

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Okay. Sorry for having you switching backwards and forwards, but we can begin now.

Red Team: Syxel and Psyche
Blue Team: Lethos and Bijora

There will be other NPCs on the teams that any player can control. If anybody is introduced that is important I will say so, so feel free to do whatever you want with whatever character you invent for the Rp.

I will start either this afternoon or tomorrow. A rule will have to be changed, though. According to what I have written you can only kill in the shaded area of the other team. That means that if a Blue invades the Red Area to hunt, the Red Team members can't kill the Blues. I'll make a change to that soon.

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Looks like Lightningflash submitted a character for the red team.

I can switch back (and if you except his character) then we'll have 2v2 and even the genders will even out. (not that it matters... but yeah...)

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Nah, the whole gender thing doesn't matter at all.

I sent a PM to rolesheep, and there hasn't been a reply, and on his/her profile it says that the last visit is last month. I think, then, it will just be me versus the other team.

So, sorry for this, I was wondering if someone could change back to the blue team, and I'll make another character for the red team. That way it will be 2 Vs 2.

As soon as that's done we can start.

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Oh really? I don't think I got it... or opened it... Ha ha I'm not that organized. XD

I'll edit my character and switch to the red team! That means the two girls are the red team and two boys are the blue team... unless you'd rather have one of each gender on each team? It's not a huge deal, really, unless you want it to be a certain "way". S'okay.

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Sorry for not replying people. I sent a PM out to everyone involved, but when some weren't answered I was beginning to think this had been abandoned by the players. It would be nice to have an equal number of players on each team. As soon as that is sorted, we will begin, and I promise the updates won't take as long as they are now.

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

I'm willing to type first if no one else will. I really can't wait for this to begin, sorry! ^^"

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Hey, when are we going to start posting? If you want, I can switch teams to even it out and make it easier to post.

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

I extremely appreciate it! Alright well I defiantly am going to submit a character, sorry it might take me a while to perfect it. I can write long posts, just take me longer that a few minutes like some people. Can't wait to get this started its going to be kinda amazing! XD Let me know! Maybe we can figure out teams and stuff before we start posting? Like everybody can post their teams on here before hand or something.... wow my mind is racing! *is on a captain crunch sugar high* XD Sorry ignore me I am just extremely EXTREMELY HYPER

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Sorry it has taken me so long to answer. We will get started soon and I will PM everyone, if the interest is still there.

Yes, you can play a girl.
Your character has a new name, but no new history. Everyone is aware that they once had a past, but cannot recall any details.
Everyone is just as intelligent as they were before beginning the roleplay. (Unless an ability upgrades this). Nobody is even sure how they wound up in such a place, but everytime a character sees something their memories return, reminding them of it's details, description, etc.
When the game begins, you will know that you are engaged in some sort of battle, but not how or why. The only thing anyone knows is that they must fight to escape.

I am not too keen on one liners, but I undertand that during converations it can be difficult to to write a wall of text to ask somebody's name.

Sorry again for taking so long.

Re: [OOC] The Evolution Event

Hey, I would like to join this RP but I have a few questions before I do.
If you don't mind explaining the character thing again. Can we be girls?
I am going to restate what I read to make sure I am correct.
Identity is unknown, we have a new name and a new history that was created by a higher power in which we have no idea who they are.
Though we do have some sort of smartness, we have no idea what anything is or how to use it.
We are in a battle of some sort, though we do not understand why we are fighting.
Also, is there a post requirement? Due to the fact single line posters have no idea what they are doing sometimes XD

Alright thanks!
