Introduction
Despite the technological revolutions of the past century, and the constant war efforts, Earth is falling.
Genetic enhancements have allowed us to scale heights that many would have thought impossible. Through bioengineering physical aspects could be catalogued and sold. Disease became a myth.
The human race discovered the capability to replicate their legends. Elemental manipulation became a possibility, as did the ability to shape one's surroundings. It was never the same, but such wonders even came to be known as magic.
The powers and feats read about in comics and stories became a reality. Boundaries were unheard of. Control, at first, was a problem, but was soon converted into an easily leashed factor by the companies offering such luxuries.
All it took was a wish, and a wallet with enough inside to cover the costs.
At more or less the same time, Earth discovered other lifeforms in the universe. Some were simple, others primitive and violent, but none as advanced as the human race. They were all colonized, or exterminated if the need arose. Life for the inhabitants of the expanding planet's influence was good. The privileged of distant planets immigrated to the best of Earth's cities and eventually, the planet that once belonged to the constantly developing humans became a mesh of thousands of cultures. The new races arriving each day, leaving their conquered planets, were staggering, and it seemed that Earth had reached a point from which it could prosper no more.
That wasn't only what it seemed. It was.
Scouts from the centre of Earth's growing empire encountered an alien planet unlike those they had found before. The population was similar to those that had expanded from the empire's capital. This newly encountered planet that Earth had found by chance was inhabited by humans. Humans that had taken a different path. They were the humans of Omega, called so, for it was the last planet Earth would encounter.
The Omegans had chosen a spiritual path. Instead of Earth's technology, and the desire to break through any limits placed before them, they had focused on their own spirituality. They chose an entity known as God. A being that those of Earth were unable to comprehend.
Whatever this God was, it gave the Omegans the power to repel the Earthians. At first they were peaceful, but when Earth attempted to integrate them into the empire, they refused. Everything seemed political until Earth tried to impose their culture of advancement upon them.
Despite what many say, however, it was never Earth to begin with.
One of the main suppliers and investigators of Earth's technology and evolution, E-Tech, made use of their financial success to lunge out at Omega with the current technology and untested prototypes. Their motives were not made public, but it was enough for Omega to retaliate.
Their first assault was devastating for the nearer planets colonized by Earth.
Their elite, known now as Angels, descended upon Earth's forces stationed short distances away, and annihilated them. It was their first warning.
Earth, however, was greedy. They wanted whatever technology created the Angels for themselves, and invaded. How silly they were.
The Angels, discovered to be enhanced humans, gifted with the ability to leave their mortal cocoons in the name of God, defended their home with a fury and wrath that the humans and their allies were shaken to the bone by.
Earth, during their assault, gathered genetic data from the Angels, and focused their resources on forging their own. The result was a lesser imitation that the Omegans named Demons. It was the final straw. The Demons were an insult to God, and for the good of all had to be destroyed and wiped from the surface of existence.
The battles that took place were brutal, and a number of planets were forgotten and left to their fate during the following war. The Omegans sent their Angels, their most powerful, to face the technology and evolution of Earth. Small, the size of a human, but more powerful that a dozen battleships, the Angels drove the Earthians back to their home. Countless races fell as the Angels left every planet in their way deserted. All those that could possibly house Demons were extinguished, and those that didn't met a similar fate.
During these last moments, Earth is falling. One hope remains however. A spy, now a hero, infiltrated Omega's society of remaining unchanged Omegans and discovered God. As divine and as perfect as the Omegans claimed it was, God could still be defeated. It was the source of Omega's power. Only a direct assault formed by a select group could reach God and destroy it quickly and efficiently enough to save Earth.
These individuals were chosen, not according to military ranks or social position, but according to the desperation that Earth found itself in. These individuals, volunteers, those that now stand with the weight of the world on their shoulders, must use every ability that Earth had given them. With all resources having been focused on the near lost war, these individuals cannot be enhanced any more than their normal lives has allowed them to be. Earth is trusting these individuals, unable to provide any aid except for the transportation that will lead them to glory, or most probably, their own deaths.
This transportation left a hangar on Earth and rocketed to the sky, fading amongst the stars. With only one week remaining until the Angel's arrival and descent upon Earth, the ship was equipped with the best of the remaining technology not sent into the war to make sure it would reach Omega in a matter of three days... minimum.
This was foreseen, however. One Angel, dreaming of Earth's mission, acted as a messenger and warned Omega. Already convinced of their victory, Omega wished to test their latest project. Technology stolen from Earth and fused with the divinity received from God. These new Angels were sent to intercept the Earth recruits in an Omegan transportation ship.
The two met, and the battle between the ships was short. The newly developed Angels, much weaker than their predecessors, no stronger than an enhanced human, were unable to defeat the Earth ship, but were able to stop it, at the cost of their own survival.
The two beaten ships descended rapidly towards the surface of a forgotten, undeveloped planet. The shields were enough to allow some of those within the ships to persevere and live on, but now stuck on an unknown planet, together with the enemy, neither were sure of how long that life would go on for.
The first to emerge from the Earth ship was a young man named Lethos, nervous and ready to jump at the first sound made. He and his comrades had fallen into the middle of what appeared to be a forest dampened by rain. Nearby lay the Omegan ship in smouldering ruins, like his own, and before it he saw the figure of a newly created Angel, no different than a human.
In this Roleplay you can either be from Earth or an Angel. If you are from Omega you will look just like a human, but will have the innate ability of flight, despite not possessing wings.
You may also choose to be a demon, which implies that you have the ability of flight, just like a new Omegan. Demons, however, do posses wings and are similar in appearance to twisted angels.
If you choose to come from Earth, you may pertain to any race you wish, real or invented.
What the setting allows is for your characters to be as you wish. Swords and sorcery has its place here, just as guns and genetics do. Divine gifts are also an option, even if you are from Earth.
Reasons will be elaborated on throughout the story.
Those from Earth speak English as their basic, common language. However, due to the sheer amount of races available, any extra language, real or invented is acceptable. Omegans are capable of understanding any language, yet also have their own exclusive language that those who do not pertain to the race are unable to articulate or comprehend.
A decent balance between Omegans and Earthians would be nice.
Nothing god-like.
