OOC Notes
The leaf suddenly turns to ashes from a flame starting at my fingertips.
I must admit. It is nice to have a fire here in the rain though
...Rain...
It still echoes in my mind. The day I found my parents ashes in our home. From then on I was no longer known as Takashi, but just Rain, like the tears that fell from my face for the seven days I mourned the loss of it all, my family, my happiness, my world...
I look into the fire, the wood crackles under the flames. The heat is getting low due to the rain. I hold my hands out and raise the fire back up again.
The night calls to me, and so does sleep. I lean my head against the tree that I'm sitting under and sleep until I hear the passing of a merchant cart the next morning. I rise and make a path towards the road. I think to myself,
That cart was either coming from or going to another town. Whichever way I decide, will determine what happens to me this day. Well if I follow him I know there will be food and supplies wherever he stops.
I turn to my right and walk down the road, thinking about my past and how I feared the terrible being I had become. Whatever this was, no one could had ever prepared me for the unholy powers I wielded. I clinch the hilt of my blade tightly as I walk, giving no concern to the sunrise over fields and a shanty little town. People here seemed to have a simple life, and simple minds. I stood at the gate of the town. The merchant cart had stopped, so I prepared the walk to find food. I has been a while since my flask had been refilled anyway.
OOC Notes
Another day masquerading as a normal person in a curropt world, easier said than done in a time like this.
As i walked down the rivers edge i waved my hand at the water, as i did the waves in the water began to form and make patterns matching the movements of my hand. After a while i moved my hand back to my side as a village was now in sight. I crept my way through the treeline scanning the village, i felt skeptical about entering this place but the smell of fresh bread and meat filled the air. I moved out of the treeline and through the gates, i followed the smell towards the Inn.
OOC Notes
Mmm, sweet bread, like the monks used to let me have every once in a while and on special occasions growing up.
"Yea yea yea, what do ya want?"
"I would like two pieces of sweet bread please."
"That'll be six copper pieces."
I laid the money on the cart as he handed two pieces to me. He was so concerned with other customers, he didn't even look at me as I grabbed the pieces and took a bite from one.
Just as I remember them.
I look along the street and notice an inn.
Finally, a place to refill my flask with a bit of Baijiu.
Moving into the inn's doors, I open them softly and quietly. Turn my head to glare under my straw hat enough to see the bar and walk over. The barkeep was a young lady who had been working there since the night before it appeared.
"What'll ya have brotha?"
"Baijiu... please..."
I lay ten copper pieces on the bar and look down as to not draw any attention to my face or my presence in the bar. I would be leaving this town soon. Where to? I did not know. For how long? I could not tell. But I was after something I knew nothing about. I had a draw upon me as if fate herself were guiding, demanding, or commanding that I follow her will. This I obliged because the ignorance to destiny before, had led me to where I was now.
OOC Notes
Sweet bread, its been too long since i've tasted real food.
I checked my satchel searching for any coins but with avail, i turned away from the cart and into the Inn and to the bar. The barmaid turned to me and spoke.
"What can i get ya?"
"Just water please."
She grabbed a small cup and filled it with water placing it on the bar infront of me.
"Thank you."
I took the cup and moved to a small table on my own, I sat with the cup in my hand swirling the water around thinking.
I need some coins if i am to eat, maybe there are some bountys out i wonder.
I took a sip from my cup and contiued to think of ways to obtain come coins. With not trade skills to speak of and my 'unique' ability being feared all i really had was combat abilitys. I continued to drink from my cup and scan the Inn, not looking for trouble but keeping my wits about me. Everyone looked like the usual kind you would find in a place like this, except one a monk looking person standing at the bar. Last time i checked monks are not the kind of people that drink Baijiu, suspicious....
OOC Notes
"Just water please." I heard him ask.
Who just drinks water at a bar, I thought. But I quickly shrugged it away. By the time I had received my flask I was full from the bread.
I must have bitten off more than I could chew today. Maybe the smell tricked me into thinking I was hungrier than I actually was.
I turned around and saw the only table that had an empty seat and sat opposite another man who seemed to be trying to stay out of the way.
That's my type.
I sat, pulled out the other piece of sweet bread with the intent to eat, but I wasn't sure of my capacity yet.
"I hope you don't mind if I sit here with you; I really don't like to drink alone, but who does? Care for a piece of bread? It's really good."
I was just attempting to make small talk since I really had nothing else to do with the time that I was preparing to get just a little buzz in front of the total stranger.
OOC Notes
"I dont see why not, i could use some company as it is."
He seems friendly enough but somthing about him still seemed strange, not hostile but like he was out of place here. Much like myself i suppose.
"Thank you, nice to see some people are still capable of showing generosity at a time like this."
I placed my cup down and lent forward and tore a small slice of bread before sitting back and enjoying some decent food. As i swallowed the last bite i looked up at the monk.
"So, whats your name? At first glance i would have taken you for a traditional monk, but given your choice in drink i would have to guess otherwise."
OOC Notes
"...your cheapest drink please?"
The bartender handed me the drink of what smelt like rat and asked for 2 coins, I handed the, over and walked to a empty table. In front of me were two men talking with one offering bread. Leaning over I tapped him on the shoulder.
"...Sir...I don't mean to intrude but...may I?" I hinted toward the bread even though I had bought some food. That wouldn't last long and I was running out of money.
OOC Notes
"...My name is Rain, but no I am not a monk. I was, in a sense, raised by them so the clothes I have on is from the monastery. There's not much else to the story."
That, at least, was what my story had been for the past few years. Besides, these were just folks that I probably wouldn't see again anyway. There were not that many people who looked as out of the bunch as us and I could feel the eyes of some of the locals upon us now. Not seeing them might be sooner than I thought. I sit up in my chair to pick up my katana from my side and set it on my lap.
"...and the Baijiu... it's just a little bit of hair of the dog, you know? What about you? Neither of you strike me as one of the townsfolk here."
I let my voice drop lower at the end of the statement as I could tell that there was some tense attention being drawn our way. Whether it was hostile or not I could not tell, but I would be prepared. I caught glimpse of an open window just in case I needed to make a break for it.
OOC Notes
"I suppose im more of a taveller, wandering about untill i find my path. Not much more than that really."
As the townsfolk grew more suspicious i tightened my grip and kept it hidden under my coat. I moved my chair round the table to make room for the other stranger joining us, being that he was the only person here not staring at us i dident mind. I turned to the other man and spoke.
"So, whats your story?"
OOC Notes
"ITS HIM!" on of the crowd shouted looking towards me "HE KILLED MY FAMILY"
"We should go now. My story is a little more interesting than i may have hinted at." I spoke as i stood quickly and darted for an open window. "It wasnt my i killed them. IT WASNT MY FAULT!" i screamed at the mob chased me.
OOC Notes
I think we should move. It looks as though its about to get messy here
I jumped from my seat almost at the same time as the man. The crowd rushed towards us and I held weapon with the sheathe still on. I held it at my side and turned towards the window behind the man. I darted between tables and chairs, rattling glasses and plates. The men still yelling behind us.
...ITS HIM... HE KILLED MY FAMILY...
I remember screaming those same words to myself years ago. I was just a boy, but I could still see it. The ashes, the look on their faces. The sounds and smells of what I was, what I am. Then, it was happening, my breathing became more full, my vision began to tint red, and my body began to feel warm again.
This happens every time I think of...
I sprinted for the window, ready to jump through. I lift my legs from over the chair and take one step. That sounded like the loudest stomp I had ever heard. Enough to wake the rest of this now chaotic town. The next step I took launched me forward with what seemed to be more of a grip on the floor. With all my might I pursue the man that had darted before me. I don't remember much of if, when, or how I made it in front of the the other guy. I can only recall the yells, jumping through the window and landing in a small creek just on the other side. The temperature from the water was enough to cool anyone off, which I was glad to feel on my body.
OOC Notes
Typical i suppose, still this could prove to be entertaining.
After a few mintues of running we were deep in the woods, i shouted to the others.
"I THINK WE LOST THEM!"
I came to a slow hault and lent forward resting my hands on my knees trying to catch my breath.
OOC Notes
Oh sh*t...
I get up, almost tripping over myself, and quickly head towards the forest.
What did I just see? There was no way that happened. It was like he just picked up the whole creek and through it at them.
I ran until I heard a distant voice
I THINK WE LOST THEM!
I took a few more steps before I decided to slow down and turn. I was much deeper in the forest than I thought I was and had to make my way way back, at least to say thank you for getting those guys off of our trail while we made a break for it. After a few minutes of walking, I wasn't out of breath and I walked up to the familiar faces from before.
"O.K. so I'll say it. What the hell was that?"
OOC Notes
As i finally approached the others i sat down. "I couldn't stop myself, i needed the money but i didn't want to hurt them. I didn't have control of what i was doing." i heard more footsteps in the distance, The pounding growing louder and louder as if more people were joining. "I was scared. So i killed them. First it started with small stones then became walls of stone and earth. It encased them.I don't know what was happening." I was slowly becoming more distraught. "IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR IT!" I cryed as i screamed. "I'm sorry i should have never got you into this? I heard what you did with the stream. You have this curse aswell?" I looked at them both.
Looking toward the man with the sword i recalled his name "Rain and...." i turned to the other man "My name is Shibuya."
OOC Notes
"My name is Tbore, and i suppose you could call that my curse. Althoe i have never been able to do somthing like that, normally im confined to smaller feats."
I took off my coat and placed it on a rock beside me then sat and lent back on it.
"However i wouldent so much call is a curse, not as of late anyway. Why should somthing unique about one person be branded a curse? Why not call it a gift? or a blessing? Nothing is a curse or evil unless you make it so, yet somthing good or great is known from its start. I dont know when this started or who was the first, but for it to be 'evil' someone had to come first and make it so."
My glance moved to Rain.
"Since you havent made any threats towards us or ran away id have to say this isent your first contact with people like us, am i right?"
OOC Notes
I started as I picked up a leaf,
"...I have never found anyone that could bend water the way that you do, or move the earth in the way you're describing, but I have found that I can do this..."
The leaf went up into flames. I was never really able to control the burns, just start them and let the fire do the rest itself. I was unsure of how their reaction would be.
"This has been a curse to me. Because of it, my entire family is dead and I have no one in the world to turn to that has not shut me out. The world is cold and lonely so the Gods, I feared, chose to let this demon possess me. I see now that there are others which means this is not a demon but some sort of strange ability. Let's try to figure this thing out, but first, we need to let each other know our stories. Our REAL stories."
OOC Notes
"Earth...."
I pointed at Shibuya while still moving.
"Fire..."
My finger moved to Rain.
"Water."
I continued thinking to myself.
This cant be just coincidence.
I stopped pacing and turned to face them both.
"Gentlemen i have never been one that belived in fate, not having full control of my life and actions is not a concept i find appealing. However, destiny on the other hand is somthing that i might be prepared to belive in, given the right reason too. Three strangers meeting and running together all of which happen to be in possesion of somthing most would call evil or demonic. Coincidence? Not a story i would buy, even if it is the truth. Thoe in my mind there is somthing conciderably more disturbing than what people would find if they found out about us."
I crouched down balacing on my toes.
"That would be the absence of Air. Even the most undertrained monkeys know of the four elements yet i count only three here, and if it is destiny that we were to meet then what for? And where is our forth 'brother' of manipulation?"
I rocked back and sat back in my previous position against the rock.
"Then again maybe i am just reading too much into things. Wouldent be the first time my mouth has gotten me into trouble."
I closed my eyes and allowed my mind to wander.
The again maybe not....
OOC Notes
The old brown cape was over the person's head and all that could be seen was the dirty shoes, shirt and pant with holes and tears in it. "...Ouch..." The person pull the cape off from over their head to reveal the face of a girl. She look up at everyone and grin as she rub her rump. "Heh. Sorry. Um...I wasn't stealing or anything." She put her hands up, palms facing out and she stood up but then three coin bags fell down from her pocket. The coin bags belonged to the three guys standing before her. "Oh um...I-I found that somewhere else." she lied then she took a few steps back, grinned and took off running. "See ya!"
OOC Notes
Well that pretty much settles it, none of this is just coincidence.
I was still stunned by everything that the next thing i actually notice is the person running off, I slowly turned to the others.
"Call me crazy but i think we should probly get after her."
I quickly whipped my weapon back into its place on my hip and sprinted off after her.
OOC Notes
"Tbore...she floated...you said we were missing an element and i think we just found them." it made me smile at how she managed to survive a fall like that and also how i didnt hear her. "Amazing..." I said out loud
OOC Notes
What are we supposed to be doing here and why would fate have brought the four of us together?
OOC Notes
OOC Notes
We have to stop her now!
As we came to a river i stopped and shot my arms up into the air, as i did the water infront of the women lifted out of the river bed. It was like a wall of water reaching to the top of the trees but only for a moment before the strain came apon me and i dropped to a knee breathing deeply. As my arms dropped the water came shooting back into the river bed, I placed a hand on my chest and tryed to slow my breathing.
I hope that was enough to stop her.
OOC Notes
Maybe she'll try to cross it, so I'd better try and cut her off.
I finally made it through the woods, when I reached a cliff. I figured I had run too far, but I could still hear the foot steps in the distance. I follow the river up. As I ran I noticed the water became shallow in the riverbed. I didn't think much of it at the time.
Must be the dry season.
Later, the river was more aggravated and deeper, but as my eyes followed forward I could see a bump then rise in the water beyond the banks. Then, the girl burst forth from the woods. I saw the wall rise up in front of her. I leaped for her and tackled her to the ground.
"Stop squirming..." I told her, "...we're not police, and we're not going to hurt you." I looked up at my new found band of friends, "I don't think we are, right?"
OOC Notes
Upon hearing that, I struggled even more. "No! D-Don't hurt me!" I look at the young guy on this knees, obviously tired. "N-No, please don't hurt me! I beg of you!"I don't think we are, right?

Re: [OOC] The First Benders
for fire, the lightning bending;
earth, the metal bending;
water, the blood bending;
and air, was a little tricky but I vote for whatever the airbender chooses that makes sense
remember these people have no idea what their powers are, all they know is that they are the only ones in the world that have them

Re: [OOC] The First Benders
Ive submitted two characters, sorry about the awfulness of the first i made him ages ago and havnt had the chance to really think about him. I forgot to add that I would make Shibuya an earthbender.
[OOC] The First Benders
I need a
- airbender
- waterbender
- earthbender
- and a evil female avatar??? (not priority at the moment)
these characters are the first of their kind which means that they don't have any experience in their powers and are discovering them and developing them together as the story progresses
