Introduction

As an aspiring fighter, you arrive in Glimmer City, hoping to join the tournaments and fighting that goes on almost all year in the most prestigious arena around, the Glimmerdome. Once you arrive in Glimmer City, amidst all the buzzing about of everyday life, you can see the center-most piece, the Dome itself, as well as posters hanging from the sides of it denoting various fighters.

To your left, the Glimmer City Mall, where one could buy lots of things from high-class stores. To the right, one of the more popular restaurants, the Glowing Jewel, a placed where one can enjoy five-star dining. Elsewhere around the city, plenty of other entertainments were around.

Where to start...perhaps signing up or watching some of fights that make this place so popular would be a good place to start, therefore you approach the dome itself. Inside the establishment once you enter, you see the rankings board, in all of it's electronic glory (words surrounded with a pair of Brackets are not able to be seen IC).

You note all of the empty spaces on the rankings, and then look around this place, the lobby was a fancy area. To the left was a door with a guard, mirroring what was on the right. Either way probably lead to the sign-ups...well, what now? The city could be explored...or perhaps you could sign-up? Maybe watching a fight before doing anything too hastily would be a good idea...those doors in the middle seem to lead to the arena itself...

How Battles Work: BBClock's Turned Based Combat System
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Character Stats
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All Characters will have an "HP" (Hit Points), "SP" (Special Points), "ATT" (Attack), and "DEF" (Defense) score.

"HP" determines how much damage your Character can take before falling. Your Character may not have more than 30 HP (at most)!

"ATT" determines how much damage your Character's basic attacks do. Your Character may not have an ATT score higher than 10 (at most)!

"DEF" determines how much less damage your Character takes from most attacks that don't pierce Defense. Your Character may not have a DEF score higher than 10 (at most)!

"SP" is used to perform special moves that may have seperate "ATT" values. Your Character may not have more than 20 SP (at most)!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Item Usage
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All Characters may carry up to 5 Items for use in battle. These can be almost anything from a Rock that is thrown at opponents up to the most precious necklace that does "WhoKnowsWhat?". All Items are Single-Use only! Once it's used, you must get another one if you want to use another one.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle, Order, and Turns
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All Characters have One Action Per Turn. An Action is using an Attack, using an Item, or using a Tactic. If there are multiple members on a Team, each member of the Team has One Action of their choice.

At the start of the match, the Challenger(s) get(s) to make the first move. No exceptions. Once he/she/they take(s) his/her/their turn(s), the one(s) being Challenged take(s) his/her/their turn(s), then the cycle continues from there.

All Characters forfeit/lose the current fight they are in if: They Run Away, fight in a manner the Crowd or the Fight Supervisors deem unfair, or run out of HP.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tactics
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All Characters have access to "Tactics". The Tactics everyone has access to are as follows:

Appeal allows your Character to sacrifice their Action to try and gain favor with the crowd through a taunt, a rally, or something else. This is vital in matches that end in ties (as the crowd decides who wins in those).

Charge allows your Character to sacrifice their Action (and 1 SP) in exchange for boosting your ATT value by 2 until your next Attempted Attack. While your Character can Charge unlimited times, your Character's ATT will not go beyond 10.

Defend allows your Character to sacrifice their Action (and 1 SP) in exchange for boosting their DEF value by 2 for the remainder of the current turn. The DEF value will not go beyond 10.

Run Away does what it's name says; allows your Character to flee the current battle, forfeiting the match. By forfeiting the match, your Character automatically loses and does not gain a rank (if challenging) or falls back a rank (if challenged).

Swap Order is a special Tactic only available to Teams of Characters. This allows the Team of Characters to switch the order in which they take their Actions (i.e. A normally Attacks first while B Attacks second; upon using this, B Attacks first while A Attacks second). This has benefits and drawbacks, think wisely!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About Rankings
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All Characters will start in the Bronze League or lower unless otherwise noted. You must work your way up to the Championship. You gain a rank by beating the opponent ranked above you. You lose a rank by losing to the opponent ranked below you.

All Characters may occasionally be asked by the Fight Supervisor (Me) to fulfill certain conditions during the fight. These conditions are:

Appeal at least once to the crowd!
Appeal at least three times to the crowd!
Don't attack for the first three turns...
Don't use Special Moves (ones that require SP)...
Don't use items...
Finish the fight before taking 20 HP in damage!
Finish the fight in 5 turns or less!
Take damage at least (1-5) times!
Use at least one Special Move (one that requires SP)!

There are also specific Team Conditions that can be issued for Characters on Teams. They are as follows:

Don't EVER let the Lead Character attack (the Leader of the Team is not allowed to Attack)!
Don't EVER let Allied Characters attack (only the Leader of the Team is allowed to Attack)!
Don't EVER use the Swap Order Tactic!

Fulfilling these Conditions is crucial to gaining ranks (and winning a match if it's a tie and the victor is determined by the crowd). Try your best to do them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other Rules
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone Inactive for too long a time that fails to notify the me of their extended absence beforehand will be ranked down, or even disqualified. You have been warned. We don't need you to bring down the Roleplay for everyone else because you don't show up for a week.

Two Paragraphs Minimum is mandatory, alongside Proper Grammar, Correct Spelling, and Correct Use of Punctuation. All Battles will be Turn-Based. No Speed.

Despite the Loose Limits on the Stats, please be respectful and try to balance your characters as best you can. It makes it more fun for everyone when fights are fair. Same goes for Godmodding, try and avoid it. Romance is allowed, but not really encouraged, and if it's done, nothing beyond PG.

Having a knowledge of the Paper Mario Games will help greatly here, but do not fear if you do not know a whole lot about them, I can answer any questions about it needed.

Above all else, have fun!

# The Glimmerdome, 2010-07-06 04:58:03, as written by True Grave
The large grey bus labeled "Glimmer City Corrections Transport" pulled up just outside the entrance to the Glimmerdome, a major attraction for both tourist and would-be warrior alike. The dome was like the Coliseum of Ancient Rome, providing entertainment for the masses...at a price. Fighters could make themselves the toast of the town by becoming Champion of the dome, and that was to be the fate of twenty-six-year-old Aaron Mulvaney, if Warden Kastav had his way about it. The Glimmer City maximum security prison was hemorraghing money, and the city was dragging its heels on doing anything about it. So Kastav had come up with a plan to put one of his most dangerous inmates into the bracket, and the owners of the Glimmerdome would pay him 2% of the total winnings, in exchange. As Mulvaney increased in rank, that percentage would increase, and, of course, all of Aaron's winnings would be turned over to him; it was a win-win situation for the Warden.

Aaron Mulvaney sighed as the prison bus came to a stop. He was sitting on his bed, which was more comfortable than his prison bunk, but just barely. The Warden had installed all of his toiletries and everything to give him a decent standard of living, and to ensure that he had no reason to leave the bus other than to fight. While he was now reduced to nothing more than the Warden's fight dog, Aaron was more content than he had been back at good ol' Glimmer Prison. At least here, he was not fighting off hairy rapists day and night. Within a few minutes, his door was opened and two prison guards came in.

Aaron stood up and allowed them to pat him down, a fruitless task, considering that he had not been provided anything that could even remotely be used as a weapon. After the protocol-only pat down, shackles were placed on his wrists and ankles, and he was escorted off the bus. Aaron looked around and breathed in the air of the city. This would be a small touch of freedom, if nothing else. Within moments, Warden Kastav appeared and sneered at him. The four then entered the Glimmerdome, a tastefully decorated house of pain.

Warden Kastav opened the door to the arena and proceeded to the front desk. Seeing that the secretary was quite lovely, Kastav, a man who was balding and had a stomach like a sucked-in bowling ball, attempted to be suave.
"Hey, there, toots. I've brought you your latest combatant."
Aaron snickered, earning him a sharp glare from Kastav, before he returned a smile to the secretary, displaying teeth that were yellow and jammed together like corn kernels.

The secretary was talking with the little Pink Bob-omb Buddy that stood in the Main Lobby to answer questions. Therefore, the secretary was right there and able to be conversed with, which she was. Beau T. (her last name being far too long and difficult to pronounce) seemed unfazed by the man's attempts at wooing her, instead looking to the prisoner. "So that Prisoner there must be the one in the deal you worked out with the Supervisor, yes? He was mentioning something about that Prison going under...seems like it's under poor management with all the loans the city has given it. Not that it matters to us...more fighters are always welcome...follow me please." she stated rather firmly, holding her clipboard and fixing her glasses as she turned to walk to the door on the right, the Security Guard moving out of the way...

The Bob-omb Buddy was rather intimidated by these two new people that were potential combatants, but she knew they were going to leave for a bit so the Prisoner could sign up. She'd sigh in relief as soon as that was done. She was delighted to converse with a Buzzy Beetle that came, whom also wanted to sign-up it seemed. So she chatted with him for a bit before sending him off after the secretary and the Prison/Warden Duo.

When his flirting was not returned, Warden Kastav did not seem particularly bothered by it. He was used to rejection, but it never got him down. Following Beau T, he and Aaron moved over to the door. It was a dark oak door, with a gold plate on it that said 'Fight Supervisor's Office'. There was an intercom to the right of it, and Kastav pressed a button and leaned down so that he could be heard.
"Mr. Supervisor, I have brought you prisoner #672354920, as was agreed upon."

The secretary lead the group through the door, and to the oak door that was always locked. The intercom buzzed to life as the secretary said something, then stood aside.

When the warden spoke into it, a voice echoed from the other side...

"What's that, now? Oh, the prisoner. So here's the deal. Listen carefully...

You will get all the earnings that your little fella here earns as per the contract. Both of us reserve the right to terminate it at anytime with minimal notification. Now, I assume he knows how to fight, yes? We don't need him to be thrashed apart like several of the new ones do. Good...

He'll need a stage name, choose one or I'll just give him a default. People need to know who he is when he does hit it big time..."

The secretary fixed her glasses. "You heard him. Take it all in. I shall add one thing he didn't, however, in that, what the Supervisor says, goes. When he asks your little Prisoner here to do something, he shall do it. You're reliable for him in the end. We'll take care of him, but he's still your responsibility as per contract."

She was dead serious in her tone.

Warden Kastav nodded as the Supervisor laid out the fine details. When he asked if Aaron could fight, Kastav looked at him, then pressed the button.
"He can definitely fight. This guy put over fifty inmates in the infirmary in his first two years alone. In total, he's taken apart three-fourths of the entire inmate population. The other one-fourth won't mess with him."

Aaron allowed himself a small smile. At least he was getting recognition as more than just a lowly prisoner. The Supervisor asked for Aaron to provide a stage name, and Kastav looked at him and pressed the intercom button. Aaron looked directly at the box.
"Call me The Prison Warrior," he said, loud enough to be heard over the intercom.
Kastav took his finger off of the button.

Beau T then began to say that what the Supervisor said went. Aaron shook his head as the staff called him 'the little prisoner'. Yes, he was a prisoner, but that did not mean he wanted to be reminded of it. Aaron was also not little, having built up enough muscle and height to make him much bigger than they seemed to be acknowledging. He looked right into the eyes of Beau T.
"Stop referring to me as 'the little prisoner'."

Aaron cleared his throat.
"My name is Aaron Mulvaney, got it?"
His eyes blazed with anger.
"You can call me either Aaron or The Prison Warrior, but stop treating me like I'm less than human. I'm going to be keeping your business going, so show me some damn respect!"
Kastav decided that he had heard enough and rapped him in the head with his fist.

Aaron stopped talking, but his eyes never dimmed in their ferocity.
"That's enough, prisoner," the Warden said while rubbing his hand, "by virtue of being here, you are less than human. You're my pet dog and don't you forget it."
Kastav then turned his eyes to Beau T.
"Fine, just make sure that I'm paid my share. Now can you please show us what we have to do to get a match going?"

This secretary has heard it all before, and was not amused when Aaron tried to be a threat as well. She merely slid her glasses up her nose a bit as she awaited the Supervisor's orders. "Look here, if you do get the spot when you sign up, you'll be Bronze League material. If you want respect, work your way up."

The Supervisor himself had something to say. "Alright. You have been entered, and I have a complete log of you. Also, as for the feisty one there, our business is always going...you are not going to carry it any further unless you do very well. Even if you weren't here, we'd still be going...

As for you, Warden, the Secretary will show you where the locker room is as well as explain the few basics you need to know."

The Secretary fixed her glasses and looked at her clipboard. "Alright, follow me." she requested as she turned and started walking down the hallway to the Bronze League Locker Room. The guard in front of this one stood aside as she opened the door to allow the other two in.

Back by the Supervisor's office, a Buzzy Beetle was busy signing up as well, although his process went quicker it seemed. He was then directed to follow the Secretary and the other men, which he did...

Aaron continued to glare daggers at the secretary, not caring what "League" he would be in. He figured that he would work his way up quickly. He had faced down the toughest and most sadistic people that Glimmer City had to offer and come out on top every time. How bad could the combatants be?
When the Supervisor said something, Aaron turned to the door.
"Fuck you," he said coldly.

The Warden nodded when he was addressed and followed Beau T to the Bronze League locker room. Aaron was pushed in and the three men stood there. The Prison Warrior couldn't care less what she had to say. Warden Kastav, on the other hand, wanted to gather as much information as he could.

The Secretary pushed her glasses up once again. It was a recurring thing it seemed. "Listen carefully, I'll say this once.

You're starting in the Bronze League, of course, as you've just now started your career. If you don't like this somewhat dingy room, I suggest you work your way up through the ranks."
she stated before walking over to a small intercom on the wall.

"When you're ready to fight, just press the button here to contact the Supervisor. The Supervisor will then decide who you'll match up against. You will have little to no say in this. Why not try it once? Walk up to the intercom and press the button. Then, as soon as the Supervisor answers, ask to "Reserve a Match".

She waited patiently for them to do as such.

The Supervisor answered.

"So, you must be looking for a fight, eh? Well, let's see now. You'll next be facing off against the Gritty Goombas in a fight for the right to be in the Silver League.

Now listen here son, I'm going to want you to rally the crowd some. See, the crowd loves it when their favorite fighter appeals to them. Appeal at least once to the crowd. Now get in there and fight."

Beau T stepped in here with more information.

"The supervisor told you what you needed to do in the match. I'd suggest doing it, it'll make it easier in the long run. All you need to do now is wait for security to come and get you. They will then escort you to the ring. Also, try not to get destroyed out there, okay?"

She then shoved her glasses up a bit more before exiting the room. All Aaron had to do was wait for security...

Re: [OOC] The Glimmerdome

OK, thanks. I'm sure that I'll beat them all, sooner or later. I have another question, though. What made you want to mix Paper Mario with Gladiator?

Re: [OOC] The Glimmerdome

Yes. The Number in Parenthesis is the amount of Hit Points in damage their attack does. It is based off of the ATT stat in most cases (barring some special moves that may differ). This is why some fighters obtain and keep their ranks, simply because they are very tough to fight. They are all beatable however, difficult, but beatable.

Re: [OOC] The Glimmerdome

Here is my first question. When I read the character profiles of Shimmerstrike and The Incredible Ulk, it showed a name of their special attack, and a number next to it. Example: Lullaby (20). Does the number in parenthesis mean how much damage it does to the hit points of an opponent?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Remember, questions and OOC chatter here. Questions may also be sent to me via Private Message. This Roleplay is a neverending one. You can stay in for as long as you want, and you may leave (after notifying me) at anytime you want.
