[i'm not sure how to start. . . .]

Lori Ember walked around the woods in district 3. she had her bow and arrow strapped to her back and her dagger in her pocket. She listened to her surroundings. listening for a catch. Most girls weren't allowed to hunt but as Lori had shown great potential as a Hunter she had been trained. She had training in fighting as well, as all of the first 3 districts had. mainly because for the last 50 years, except for one year, the winners had come from these districts.

Sabella was playing with her puppy. She didn't hunt. The thought of killing somthing made her sick to her stomach. She hugged her dog. She looked just about as inoccent as the pup. She was in district 4.

She raised her bow to her head and shot a stag. "Well... My family eats well tonight."

Sabella looked up when her dog barked.

Roy walked about the area scouting for the other competitors in this twisted event. He gripped onto the flap of his shoulder bag ready to grab some thing to either defend him self or to create a attack. Roy thought the whole thing was horrible but he got dragged into it. Slipping into the shadows of a building of district 5.

"Kill me now." she said to herself. She was weak and harmless. Her killing anything? Probably not happening.

A horn sounded, sending chills down Lori's spine. "Oh no." that horn, going off in all districts, meant that it was time for the Picking to start. The Picking was when the tributes for the annual bloodbath a.k.a. The Hunger Games, were chosen. Half of her wanted to stay hidden in the woods but she had to make sure that one of her little siblings didnt get chosen. She ran, faster than most boys, towards the town square in district 3, the horn buzzing through her ears.

Sabella hated it, but she went. She jogged towards the sound. There was no way she was going to be picked. She could kill, but she really really did't want to. It was sick and twisted for them to do this.

Th voice of the capitol announcers assigned for each district all said the same things. "Welcome to the 108th annual Hunger Games! Now we shall pick the boys and girls from this district to travel, first to the interview center, and then to the arena!" They sounded like all of this was exciting and a good thing. What was so good about more than 100 people dying, due to the cruelty of the Capitol? And for what? Their entertainment?!

Sabella growled. "Why would they do somthing like this? somthing this sick and twisted. For once in her life she wanted to srangle someone.

taku walks up to hear the tv on, he walks down staires to hear the hunger games are starting
he looks to his mom and asks "when is it" in a depressed tone

"First from district one is..." the first announcer said. "From district two..." the second said. "For District three, Anisha Holt, Crissy Ember..." "nooo!!!!" Lori yelled. what were the chances, her 7 year old little sister whom had only one ticket, when she had 12 , out of more than a hunded would get chosen. "please, she's only 7 years old!" Her mother pleaded. Lori thought. She knew what she had to do. "I volunteer to be a tribute!" The sounds of the gasps escaping each person's mouth were almost glass-shattering. "What? A volunteer?" the announcer said. No one ever volunteered. Now everyone in each district would possibly see her crying, as each part of this horrid event was shot on camera, with each district forced to watch it. No. She couldn't let people see her cry. "Yes. I volunteer to be a tribute in the place of my sister." "Your name my dear?" "Lori Ember." the words escaped her mouth before she could stop them.

"Well come on up Lori! District Three, you should be proud of this young lady!" The announcer cheered. She was a perky woman, draped in so much pink that made lori want to puke. She slowly made her way to the stage. She looked at her friends who were doing the district-wide signal for a 'goodbye' or a 'it was nice knowing ya.' Everyone in the town square was. yeah, real confidence booster. She thought. She fought back her tears and stood on stage. "Welcome to the Hunger Games Lori." Lori knew that if she caused a scene she would be punished. Possibly killed before she even got to the Arena. So she stood there, looking down at the ground, using every bit of will power to fight back her tears.

"From district four is Sabella Ambrose..." "From District five is Roy Khitan..." Each of the announcers, as if joyous that people would be forced to kill each other, announced more names. "From district nine is Kumiko Shadow..." "from district thirteen is Taku Kurosama..."

As lori walked down the steps. Her sister grabbed her hand and pleaded with her childlike voice. "Are you gonna try? Are you goona win?" "I dont know crissy." "Please try." Without thinking she dropped to her knees and hugged her sister, never wanting to let go." "I'll try to win. I promise." She whispered. She didn't care if people saw her hugging her sister. Her mother hugged them. "Be brave Lori." "I will mom."

Roy's eyes widened as he heard his voice called from the announcer. "Grrr bastards, oh well I'll see how long I can keep alive."
He left the shadows of the building and scouted around. Roy walked to the stage unimpressed with the whole thing. He glanced at the other chosen people for this twisted game, interested that one actually took place for another one. "Nice to see a change in things. Try too last as long as you can." Roy spoke out too Lori.

[uuuh. the districts are apart. Like towns or something.]

Sabella's jaw dropped. "W-what?! There must be a mistake." her eyes were wide.

as he hears the annoucements he lays down on his roof and looks at the sky he thinks to himself "somehow i knew this would happen"

Tears formed in Sabella's eyes. 'No! this can't be happening. Not to me!!!"

wakes up "man im hungry" as he walks out side he gets swarmed by reporters from the capitol asking him about him being chosen for the games "i have no comment" he says casualy as he walks along

Roy stuck to the shadows to avoid the crowds of people that wanted to talk to him about being on the hunger game. He didnt see the point of people talking to the contestants. Especially when it didnt matter untill the game was over.

Sabella pushed by the peaple who wanted to talk to her. She wondered off, unawake she was heading towards district 5.
