The Land of Nod

The Land of Nod

0 INK

Whisked away from reality as they know it, and waking up in an alien world created by an unknown being, people find themselves appearing as they dream themselves to be, or believe themselves to be.

3,521 readers have visited The Land of Nod since MartinVole created it.

Introduction

You awake into a strange world, remembering nothing of how you got here. The world before you is a twisted landscape, resembling some a surreal painting where it is partially familiar, but mostly unfamiliar. The colors are wrong in places, or at least wrong by your mind. Structures can be seen, scattered intact or ruined, and floating aloft on disconnected land masses that defy gravity. Amidst this all, a great white tree sits alone, reaching high into the heavens with its leaves of gold, its roots visible going down deep into the lower layers of the world, each layer darker than the last.

You think this is a dream, but if it were a dream would you be having a headache, or feeling nausea? You check yourself to find yourself different from what you were before. You are changed, into something you have dreamed yourself as being and it feels so... real. It is real. It becomes clear that this is a world of dreams made tangible, where thought and sentiments become reality, like some kind of twisted wonderland. But is it yours, or is it somebody... or something... else's? Are there others here and will they be real? Will you be able to return to the world you left behind, will you want to? These questions demanded answers.

Welcome to the Land of Nod, the world of the greatest dreams... and cruelest nightmares.

Toggle Rules

The rules are fairly straight forward, no controlling of the characters of others unless collaborating, no godmodding with vastly overpowered characters (even though this world allows a lot of flexibility) and play nice with others.

You do not have to be human, or confined to the humanoid frame. Part of this being a dream world is that a lot actually flies here and time is irrelevant. It all kind of balances out.

Character sheet does not have to be overly detailed, but must hit on key elements.

Also, BE ACTIVE, I stess this heavily. At the very least be active enough to keep a flow rolling steady every few days a week. I understand some things tend to get in the way, but I want to keep this as lively as possible for everyone involved and to keep it interesting and keep the plot rolling.

Aloft a large strip of land floats above the deeper unknown levels of Nod, defiant to all forms of gravity and physics. The land mass is green, lush, with a waterfall flowing down from high into the sky, out of crack in a blue moon. The stream runs down from a series of mountains, leveling across the land, through stony tunnels, gathering into a small lake, then off the edge into the abyss. Strange ruins and half-built structures are littered about the sides of the river, among the center is a a massive clock tower in the middle of a small lake, mostly submerged and leaning yet still ticking quickly, and backwards at that. The clock face is pitch black, lacking numbers yet has two glowing yellow hands.

The clock hits 12, both hands lining up perfectly and freezing in place with a loud snap. The whole tower begins to shake, the lake rippling in small waves and then a light cuts through the center of the face, in the shape of a door. Suddenly it pops open and light shoots forth, a platform springs out, like cuckoo, but instead of the cuckoo bird, a tall figure, around seven feet, stands on the edge, holding an odd girl in its arms.

The figure in question, a long thin male from what can be assumed, dressed in a black suit, white undershirt and a red tie, wearing white like a butler. Folded red and black wings runs down his back. The long lanky arms,in fact, are red, ending in yellow clawed hands, and his face, a long black beak, birdlike with large unblinking yellow eyes that are green nearing the center. A crest of white feathers runs down the back of his head like hair. A bizarre creature to behold. The girl in his arms, however, appears human, pale pinkish skin, dressed in an odd hoodie that obscures half her face with three yellow eyes decorating it, the sleeves much too long. Aside from the hoodie she wears no shoes or socks, and what is visible of her hair is two long strips of hair down the sides of her face against her cheeks.

"Time t' rise Nuelle, ya lazy ditz," the birdlike man squawks, in contrast to his appearance sounding rather crass. He shakes the girl then drops her into the grass with a soft thud then kicks water into her face causing her to stir and snap to, sitting up and facing the strange creature. "No time t' sleep, no time t' lounge about, get up, get up, get up!"

"Wha-, who are y-ou," Nuelle asks in near incoherence, unable to form even a complete sentence just wobbles in a daze.

"Wh-wh-what!? Ya crack yer head, girl!? Surely you know me," the bird responds in a huff, a tone of indignation permeating his words. He puffs out his chest, closes his eyes and raises his head looking as dignified as he can. "I am Abdown, th' lord of time, th' partitioner of space, and on top of it all... ruggedly handsome." On his last statement he pulls forth a mirror and grooms his crest. He then notices Nuelle had nodded off during his spiel, causing him to to kick water in her face again snapping her awake again snapping to her feet, soaking wet, a bit lock kneed, and wobbily. "I said, rise and n' shine, Nuelle!"

"S-sorry," she apologizes softly, shaking her sleeves and wringing out her clothes as best she can. "Where am I?"

"Why the Fields of Overlake, girl," he responds narrowing his right eye, straightening his tie.

"Why... am I?"

"Why are ya what? Silly questions, girl, so many silly questions, questions, questions, questions!"

"I just..."

"Enough of this, ya go greet the guests and get the party started, it is a big day, big, big, big, day! Must prepare, yes must prepare f'sure," he squawks, before the clock shakes once more, snapping back in a rush with the door slamming shut with a resounding bang, disappearing once more within the abyss of the clock face. Then suddenly, silence, aside from the clicks of the clock as it begins to turn once more.

Nuelle stands there, her mouth agape and her arms hanging limp. All she had learned from this whole fiasco was her name, a place, and that bird men are very loud and rude. Another thing she has learned, is that she is quite so very... utterly alone now. She slumps to her knees and stares at the clock then down into the water at her reflection.

"Nuelle," she says softly, in an effort to confirm her own existence in some way.

Player One start.

Everything was dark. Rick couldn't see a thing. Just as he was starting to wonder what was going on he could see a small point of light directly ahead of him. In an instant the light expanded, filling his entire view with a bright flash of light. Soon his eyes adjusted and what he saw was a sight to behold.

Above him was a ceiling of dirt, covered in verdant grass and lush trees with a long flowing river nearby. Hanging from the ceiling was a strange stone structure, foreign in culture and old to the point of looking quite archaic. It was in complete shambles, a ruin of it's former self. Similar sights could be seen down all the way along the riverside. When he looked down the sight was as harrowing as it was vast. A moonlit night sky was wide open below him, vast like an infinite abyss chock full of twinkling stars and a strange blue moon that poured water upwards onto the land above.

This was all quite strange for him. He had a number of questions already. Who would build stuff on the bottom
of whatever this is? Why does water fall upwards? Why does my head feel stuffy?

He looked to his leg and saw that he was caught on the branch of a tree. He was hanging upside-down.
Well that clears up a few things.

Perhaps foolishly he reached for his foot to try and untangle himself from the tree limb he was stuck upon. With some struggle he managed to work his leg around a bit before a loud snap resounded. The branches which were holding him up broke.

He cried out in surprise and panic the moment he started his rapid descent. "Oof!" He hit another branch, crashing through it with his fall unimpeded. This happened a couple more times before he slammed into the earthy roots at the base of the tree itself. Surprisingly the fall didn't hurt at all. He was quite dizzy from the tumbling but otherwise he felt fine. Confused as he was Rick tried to stand up but wound up careening to the side, the dizziness making it hard for him to even steady himself. Bracing himself against the trunk of the tree he waited until he gathered his bearings once more.

"Just... Where am I anyway?" He spoke out loud, a question aimed largely at himself. Once the world was no longer spinning he started looking around, his curiosity brewing the more he saw. This place was like nothing he'd ever seen, well, maybe nothing outside of a video game. It all looked so real, so much more than he knew. Without any real warning he found himself standing next to some form of ancient ruins in the middle of an enchanted forest of some kind.

"This is so..." He started, the full effect of his current predicament dawning on him. "Cool!" He exclaimed, his voice loudly echoing through the oddly quiet lands. This was exactly the kind of thing he'd been looking for, the sort of thing that fantasy stories begin with. He didn't care how he got there or why. Perhaps it was all a dream of his. Whatever it was he was going to enjoy it to his fullest.

He wanted to explore every inch of this place. So much to see, so much time to do so many things. He had to start somewhere so for lack of anything resembling a direction he started with the place in front of him. It was a strange place, broken down and worn out yet there were no signs of debris next to it. The stones it was built of were cut in an antiquated fashion. The structure was cracked and vines ran all across it. It had a real air of mystery to it. It made him wonder just what had happened to it and what it even was before now.

Stepping inside he could see what looked like old tables with chairs set by them, all overtaken by nature. It was like this place was some sort of restaurant or something of the sort. Looking up he could see a hole leading to the second floor. Very little of the second floor remained and there was no signs of where the roof should be, just the rather alien night sky looming above with it's unusually nearby moon. Determined to see what was above he attempted to jump up and grab the lip of the hole. Much to his surprise instead of simply grabbing onto the edge he jumped clear through the hole and continued going. He nearly jumped clear over what remained of the wall, running into the side of it.

Not expecting this he tumbled back on his fall. As he landed he stumbled backwards and accidentally fell back through the hole he had just jumped through. He felt hit whole body stop hard and there was a loud thud. Though it felt uncomfortable to stop so suddenly he didn't feel any pain from it. As he was looking up however he did see a blocky green number rising from over his head. -10 HP.

Looking over to where the number rose from he could see two bars directly over his head. A green bar and a slightly shorter orange bar, both bordered with silver containers. The green bar was down by a tenth. He reached up to try and touch them but saw that he couldn't. Like an optical illusion he found that they were always out of reach, seemingly there but actually not. More and more this reality started feeling truly surreal.

Standing back up he brushed himself off. "Maybe I play too many video games?...
Nah. I definitely play waaay too many video games." Perhaps it was strange for him to be talking to himself like he was. As strange as things were already it wasn't all too bizarre. After all, who was going to tell him otherwise?

With a gentle hop he leapt up to the second floor. He found that his jumping power was easily magnitudes greater than it used to be. Before he could barely jump a fence. Now he figured he could probably jump up onto the roof of his house or at least close to it. With another short hop he stood upon the edge of the wall, looking over the stretch of the river from a better vantage point. Holding onto a piece of the corner that was high enough to reach he kept steady as he searched the land with his eyes. He was looking for something, anything of note really. Movement, noteworthy structures, anything that would warrant investigation was on his list.

With his long coat flowing in the breeze he felt cooler than he ever had before. For him it was like this moment was cut out of the pages of a manga or something. "Up here I really do feel like this world's my oyster."

"Time to find me some pearls."

It was dark, and his head was swimming. Almost like the confusion one experiences after abruptly being roused from sleep, but he still felt tired, Was he still dreaming? The scent of flowers hung in the air, sitting in his nostrils, and the wind seemed to pick up speed hitting Collin in the face with a small gust. It seemed the very land was begging for the boy to get up, it didn't take him long to comply as he slowly and groggily opened up his eyes.

Collin blinked away the sleepiness fogging up his mind as he took in his surroundings. He found himself breathless as he found himself in a large clearing surrounded by trees, and filled with flowers of all sorts of different colors, and sizes. It was beautiful, but he must have been dreaming, he had too. There was nothing quite like this anywhere in the bleak grey city he's called home for the last few years. He shook his head, trying to dispel the ache deep in the back of his head. If this was a dream than why in the world did it feel so real?

Looking around some more he found a small pond, he ran to it, stumbling as he moved. Something wasn't right, he could feel it as he hobbled toward the liquid salvation, but could not quiet know what. His head was still so foggy, and he found it hard to think clearly. When he finally reached the water, he drank deeply, and dunked his head into the blue hoping to clear his mind. When he emerged Collin found himself staring wide eyed at his reflection. It looked like him but something was off, it was his ears. They looked strange, almost like a horse's. He stood up in fright, and finally he saw. His lower body was gone. Well not gone but replaced perhaps by that of a horse's with a brilliant grey, and black coat.

Collin let out a frightened scream, as he looked over himself. "What the hell is going on? I woke up in some strange place, I'm some kind of centaur thing, and I'm completely naked! No shirt or anything? I must be dreaming. This has to be a dream! But if this is a dream than why does it feel so real?" This didn't make any sense. Waking up in such a strange place, as some kind of centaur? It was ridiculous but he found himself feeling scared and nervous at the unknown of all this. He had to get out of here. Looking around he saw what looked like some kind of exit or cave, covered by a mass of vines and trees, they were large and and thick looking but it was better than just standing here doing nothing.

He was about to walk over to the mass of vines before finally realizing how odd this body felt. There was a large weight to him like he never felt before, and the existence of two extra legs made him feel off, and unbalanced. He looked towards his destination an uncertain expression scrawled across his face. "Come on Collin. You've been riding horses your entire life! This can't be that different can it?"

He started to move carefully, one hoof at a time, trying to get a feel for his strange body. At first it started out shaky and uncoordinated, with him almost falling on his face one time, and actually falling over another. Though once he righted himself, and tried just a few more times, he seemed to at least be able to move well enough with out tripping over himself. Once he was sure he could move without too much trouble he started moving at a gallop towards the vines.

Once he made his way there before even touching any of the vines or rocks blocking his path, he spotted a bow, and a quiver full of arrows peacefully resting upon the rock formation. It looked useful enough, and stuck in such an odd place it was better than nothing. The now centaur like creature rested no time in picking them up and slinging them over his shoulders.

With that out of the way he attempted to find a way past the vines to no avail. He stomped a hoof down in frustration and turned his back on the vines trying to figure out what to do next. To his surprise once he turned around, he found the vines calmly positioning himself, allowing Collin access.

He found himself in a cave that seemed to stretch out for miles. With a sigh he mad his way through. Fortunately the cave formation was wide and spacious so he didn't feel too terrified as he galloped through the cave. Upon his exit he found himself out by some kind of river. He looked around and yet couldn't find a soul. This wasn't good, being alone here. He needed to find someone even if that meant having to talk to a bunch of strangers. And who knows what kind of people he'd end up finding here. Even so he called out somewhat awkwardly in his surrounding area."Um hello? Is anyone out there? I"m kinda lost here! Any help would be really appreciated!"

At first everything was silent, the darkness of Lyn's closed eyelids blocked any trace of light from waking her from her slumber. That was until a gust of wind slowly stirred her from her slumber before something landed on her face. Her eyes slowly opened and it took a moment to comprehend what she was seeing due to the bright light blinding her eyes.

What greeted her at first was a sea of green leaves covering fluttering about from the wind. As she rubbed her eyes, Lyn picked up the thing that landed her face and noticed it was a leaf, but there was something odd about it. The leaf felt like she was holding a piece of gummy candy, it was until she took a bit from it when she realized that the leaf was indeed candy and that the "leafs" on the trees were actually candy made to look like a leaf.

This was of course strange, when did she end up in this strange place? And why did she end up in this place? These questions entered her mind and at first Lyn tried her best to remember the events that led up to this point but nothing came up almost as if she forgot the last day of her life. She sighed before leaping off the ground and landing perfectly on her feet before looking at herself. She was wearing a large black coat, white undershirt and blue shorts. She also noticed that she had golden bracers on her arms. She felt like she had seen this familiar picture before but right now she was more focused on finding out what was going on.

After examining herself, Lyn looked at her surroundings. The trees that she had seen before were actually attached to a floating piece of land above the piece of land she was standing on. In the distance she noticed many more floating "islands" with many different paths leading each on of them, and each of them seemed to be spiraling as it went on. Of course the nearest path looked like it was miles away so instead of making her way to a path which she could not possibly walk on she decided to investigate the area around her to see what else was here, and who else was here.

Stretching her arms, legs and doing a few quick push-ups and sit-ups to warm up her muscles, Lyn began to examine her bracers one last time while thinking to herself. "I...remember these things! They are supposed to keep my powers in check! If that's true then that means I must be dreaming. But...why would I dream about a place as strange as this?" She exclaimed before going into thought once again before shrugging and deciding to jog around the "island" while calling out to whoever could hear her, if there was anyone to hear her in the first place. "Yo! If anyone can hear me, say something!" She began to call out, unsure if there was another living person in this strange world.

The land she explored did not get any more normal, bushes were made of clay, Lego bricks, or just plain old grass. The trees were made of plastic, candy, or wood. And the more she wandered around the more this place made sense to her. Hopefully someone came along and answered some of her question, but this was just like a dream and she would wake up soon...right?

He could hear a peculiar beeping noise, it sounded faint and almost lazy in its distance before it faded out altogether. Only to be replaced by that odd jolting feeling one can feel just as they have gotten comfortable and are just a few breaths away from slumber, and yet somehow the body feels like it is falling and suddenly has to kick itself into awareness once more. Usually this is responded by a sigh of annoyance before trying to get back into a sweet soft before the sheets go cold.

In Armans case however, things weren't as simple. Or as comfortable.

That strange jolt kicked him into awareness and his eyes snapped open. There were a few things that didn't add up right here. First of all instead of being surrounded by darkness, as one would expect when being jolted awake, the sky was a monochromatic light show, deep purples danced slowly with bright yellows whilst strikes of red intertwined with lines of sea blue. It was certainly an unusual sight, the impressive collection of multicoloured light aside, the fact that his ceiling had also decided to vanish only made his bewilderment grow. The second major bizarreity was that he also not awoken in his bed as one would also expect. Instead he lay perfectly horizontally, over what looked like a potentially bottomless drop, with only his heels touching firm ground. Part of him wanted to be afraid, but then again, if he had remained levitating there for this long what was there to be scared of?

At least he had been levitating there, until he began to think on the whole hanging over a vast ledge issue. At which point he could feel the distinct feeling of inertia working its wiles on him as suddenly, and no doubt rather comically, his body began to rise. It was as though he was a vampire in a 1950s horror flick, that always made him laugh seeing the monster go from laying down to standing up, somehow with his feel being equipped by hydrolic presses. Now he was the one doing it himself he could barely stop himself giggling at just how silly it must look. When his body had righted itself he let out a cheerful "Ding!" As though he had just ridden an elevator upwards.

He took a tentative step forwards, and was happily pleased to discover that the ground wasn't about to wrench itself out from under him, he took some more. And a few more after that for good measure. Even though he knew he should probably watch where he was walking, he found he couldn't help watch the maddening display of light above him, besides. For some unknown reason the rock beneath him was totally flat, featureless and a dull unimpressive block of white. It felt to him that the sky above had stolen all the colour from the ground and was now waving it about as if to show off. Arman felt it was rather rude that the sky would try doing that, as far as he was concerned there was nothing wrong with the ground, a few of his close friends spent a lot of time with the ground. He himself had pretty good relations with the ground, he'd always had a good relation with the ground. In fact the way the sky was carrying on he might just try to build a wall to show it a lesson.

Arman almost had to slap himself there, political jokes weren't really funny when you don't appear to be in a place where politics are necessarily a part of the way things go around here, especially if the sky can steal colour. Hopefully it wouldn't get any ideas about him. He picked up the pace none the less, better safe than sorry.

After a few minutes walking he came across something that seemed entirely out of place on the flat, white ground. Right in front of him the ground rather sharply fell inwards, in fact it was like that for quite a distance. It looked like the giant hole in the ground formed a perfect bowl, and strangely enough it was entirely black. It was very outlandish to see this huge black bowl just sitting around with no sign of what even caused it. He looked about to see if there was any sign of anything else nearby.

Instead as he turned around he saw what little tiny stones floating around in mid air, some of them were even connected to each other.
"Well that's unusual... Unusualer?" What even was unusual any more? But as he moved to try to get a better look at these tiny stones two things happened. First of all he saw that they were carved into the image of a bunch of little floating islands. The second, he was made aware of a most unusual rumbling going on with the ground beneath him, that only seemed to grow louder. Taking a look down he couldn't help but noticed the giant black bowl both shrinking and getting closer to him. Though he wanted to run away his feet no longer seemed to touch the ground. Things continued to escalate as the floating islands next to his head began to grow bigger or more likely he began to shrink. And then he began to fall.

It wasn't a particularly eventful drop, just one containing a lot of confused screaming as he plummeted earthward, the giant white surface growing increasingly small in the distance as the sky began to return to normality. He couldn't help but notice that the once vast surface he had been standing on now revealed that it was no more than a common dice. Before he could really take the time to appreciate this finding, he found the ground was approaching rather quickly. And in fact he found out the hard way, by smacking straight into it.

Oddly though instead of being a hard thwack and then nothing, the ground folded inwards around him, slowing him down. And then rather rudely it bounced him back upwards like a springboard, only with yet more confused shouting. This process repeated itself until he had finally come to a stop, leaving him to wonder just what on earth was going on around here.

Until he was hit on the head by a small, falling dice.

Stian was, as usual, asleep in class. Book propped up in front of him, arms on the desk as though he was writing, perfect position to fool the teacher. He had even picked out a seat near the radiator for extra comfort.

Yet, he found that it was really goddamn cold. He still wasn't bothered to open his eyes though -- after all, what was the point? He was so close to sleep! That is, until he felt a sharp tapping at his face. Assuming that class was over, Stian murmured "Yah... Be there in a minute...Mhmm.". But the tapping continued. Incessant, annoying, and slightly painful tapping which eventually started to turn into jabs. "Fine! I'm up!!" He yelled out, opening his eyes and raising his head.

Then he realised that he'd been talking to a penguin this entire time. A weird multicoloured penguin. If that wasn't enough, Stian found that he most certainly wasn't in his classroom. In fact, he was on a hill made completely of ice. But before he could react, he was beginning to slide down the hill. "Wait, what?" He stated (to himself) in surprise, before screaming like a little girl and trying to climb back up, to no avail. Stian landed with a thump on completely green grass.'Huh? How does that work... The hill is totally ice, but this entire field is all flowery and warm?!' He thought, in utter confusion. It was safe to say he had no idea what was going on.

The darned penguin waddled down with no trouble whatsoever, giving Stian this look that made him feel humiliated that a rainbow penguin had outmatched him. He was still confused as to why nothing made any sense before he realised -- 'Aaaaah, this must be a dream!'. He decided he'd probably started dreaming in class. 'Jesus, how long have I been asleep for to start dreaming? I'm so doomed when I wake up... Might as well take advantage of this while I can!'

Once he'd gotten his bearings, Stian noticed the back of his phone had fallen off -- probably on the way down from the hill.'Well, if this is a dream, I can just magic fix-it, right?'. He waited for it to fix itself, and when that didn't happen, Stian tried waving his hand around a bit or something...'Apparently not then. Fine, I'll just use my screwdr -- Oh, hey, it worked!' A screwdriver had appeared in his hand, even before he'd reached for his toolkit. He tried making the screwdriver float and fix the phone, which it did.'Sweet!' Thought Stian. It seemed like he didn't have total control here, surprisingly. How annoying. If it's a lucid dream, then aren't you supposed to be able to do whatever you want?

Stian followed the penguin around for a while, wondering if it would help him.
It did not.

In fact, all it did was waddle back to it's penguin colony or whatever.'So mean...' Thought Stian, walking aimlessly towards the horizon."Shouldn't something appear and tell me I'm the chosen one or something? This is the most boring dream ever!!" He shouted aloud. And just as he said this, he found his body fading away, turning into a weird white mist. First his arms and legs, then his torso, and finally his neck and head. Suddenly, Stian realized that he could not control this form at all. He tried to move, but did not, yet when he stayed still this cloud began zooming ahead. Eventually he ended up in some cavern, wherein he transformed unexpectedly back, landing roughly on the cold cave floor."Ouchies... Where is this, even?" He mumbled to himself, looking around. Seeing nobody, Stian got up and began to walk. It was completely dark."Huh... Looks like I'll be walking for a while, eh."

Zahara Rhea

Image

Zahara woke with a ringing in her ears, like church-bells, or an old fashioned phone...or maybe some other annoying item...like an alarm-clock? Had she fallen asleep? Again? She hadn't thought she was that tired from the double shift she had pulled but she must have zonked out after getting home....home...how had she gotten home? She didn't recall the long cold walk she usually had to take..speaking of cold. Why was it so cold?

Zahara peeked her eyes open slowly with a yawn...and was shocked to find she was definitely not in her apartment in New York.

"Where in high hell am I?" Zahara said as she sat up quickly and surveyed the surroundings. This was an unusual place. She hesitated as she got to her feet and brushed herself off. She appeared to be in a beautiful field of multi colored flowers. Deep hues of reds and blues swayed gently around her. Light displays that rivaled that of aurora borealis, highs of green and blue that took her breath away. She felt the sudden need to reach out to the sky. She wanted to touch it...take it with her, become a part of it... Suddenly she heard singing, like a sirens song. A sound so melodic and beautiful it almost broke her heart. Something was very wrong here. This place seemed so familiar, yet she had never been here before. It was so different from her mundane life full of work, sleep, and repeat. She felt at peace...and yet... She knew she could not very well stay here. Purples and oranges caught her eyes as she spun around uncertain of how she had gotten...well wherever the hell here was.

"Impossible?....'Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.'" She murmured to herself, quoting her favorite book 'Alice in Wonderland' as she brushed her hands along the tops of the flowers.

Zahara turned suddenly as she heard a sound of utter terror, and noted a man falling from the sky....but then he was flying up again.

"What...?" She whispered as she took off at a steady pace towards the ...the only work she could think of was....bouncing?....man. Maybe he would know what was gong on in this peculiar world.

"Hello?" She called as she approached him unsure of how a stranger would react to her.

Nuelle sluggishly raised herself back to her feet and gave one final look at the sunken tower. There were questions she wanted yo ask the strange bird man, but it wasn't looking like he was up for much talk at the moment. What was this party all about, and what guests? For all she could tell, she and the bird were the only people around, if he could be considered a person. Oh, but that is rather racist isn't it? What is racist, anyways?

As she fumbles with her thoughts she finds herself wandering along the riverside, head cast down watching her feet and feeling the grass pressed under them. She finds it peculiar that she has no form of footwear, not that she ever remembers wearing any. In fact, it did not seem she was at all properly attired for a party. She turns and looks back, in hopes to ask if Abdown had clothes to spare, but found the lake was now miles away.

"Oh," she mutters, somewhat astonished. She had sworn she only took a few steps, but perhaps she zoned out in her thoughts. It was a bit disconcerting that she had lost track of time. To anyone watching, she had in fact teleported forwards a few times along her stroll. Casting her face back down, she turns back to continue her stroll but freezes in place upon hearing a voice cry out. It was that of Collin, not too far from where she stood. What she saw, however, was the ground, and the first thing to come upon her path on the ground was a rather long bright blue snake with green eyes and feathery scales upon its back and at the tip of its tail. Fearlessly she kneels down and pokes its back to get its attention. It turns to her and rises up in response.

"You are lost, but here you are found," she says in a matter-of-fact tone to the serpent. It simply cocks its head in confusion then slithers off into the river without even a sign of gratitude. She scratches her head. If the snake wasn't the one who called for help, then who did? She slowly lifts her head to see four hooves, those attached to four legs, then a horse's body, and then... then a human torso?

"Ah, I'm so sorry I-" she exclaims all of a sudden, flailing her arms causing her sleeves to flop about. In her panic she loses her balance and falls upon her rear end. "I didn't see you."

"Yo! If anyone can hear me, say something!"

He could hear in the distance, a faint voice carried on the wind. Strange He thought. I would of expected the locals to not sound quite so... Urban.

"Eh, whatever." He dismissed the oddity. Wasn't all that important anyways. What was important was that he seek out this voice before he loses track. He was curious as to who might be around in such a sparsely populated area.
"Hey! I'll be right on over, just keep talkin'!" He bellowed from the top of the ruin his answer to the feminine voice's request. From his perch his voice carried well, echoing over the forest canopy.

He started considering his possible paths. He could just jump down and try walking in the direction he heard the voice coming from but that would be rather boring. He was in a new world with the ability to jump beyond human ability. Just walking everywhere seemed rather plain compared to the scenic route of jumping from platform to platform. Looking ahead he scouted his landing and jumped.

It was no harder than jumping normally. Despite the wind rushing past him as he quickly ascended and descended his hat never seemed to fall off. He noticed slight dips in the orange bar every time he jumped. The bar seemed to be correlated to the effort he put into each jump, hence why it hovered a bit around the middle as he started to work up a bit of a sweat from all the jumping he was doing.

Platform to platform, old ruin to half built structure he bounded merrily, only stopping on occasion to catch a short breath and let his stamina bar recharge. Eventually he had to go between the trees, leaping from branch to branch. After a short while the person who the voice belonged to came into view.

From up on a branch he saw a tan woman with white hair wearing rather scant clothes and two big yellow bracers.
This must be the person who was yelling He reasoned. Leaning on the side of the tree, way up as he was standing on a branch, he looked down and waved to her. "Howdy!" He greeted her with a big warm smile on his strange pale face.
"Hope you aren't feeling too cold out here, eheheheh.." He remarked, a partial jab at her choice of wardrobe followed by some creepy chuckling.

His laughter was less a product of mirth and more of a punctuation meant to denote the statement's playful nature. In truth the laughter wasn't intended to sound quite so stilted. It sounded more natural in his head when he was coming up with the line. Despite the outward smile he was beating himself up on the inside over the fact he used that line even though he knew it was likely not to come across as natural sounding.

As he walked down the river sill calling for help, hoping somebody, anybody would hear him he began to lose hope. What if there was no one else here? What if he was alone, and never finds a way back home? What if he was stuck like this, in this strange body forever? These were not good thoughts. But regardless he had to keep moving, standing here doing nothing was not going to solve anything.

He stopped for a moment, his new tail swished back and forth in the silence. He sighed in silence. It didn't seem like there was anyone here, and it seemed like he had walked quiet a distance, though oddly enough the boy was not physically exhausted. this di dnot surprise Collin much, a horse had far more stamina than a man after all. No it was the seeming pointlessness of what he was doing that was starting to get on his nerves. This whole ordeal was beginning to grate on the boy, and he suddenly wished that whatever force had whisked him away here and twisted his body into what it was now had the decency to leave him a pack of smokes or a nice cool beverage to take the edge off. No instead all he received was a bow and arrow.

Just as he was trying to think of a new course of action he noticed a what looked like a girl not to far up the river. He was astonished to see another person her just as he was giving up hope and galloped towards her direction. It was only as he was heading towards her that he realized he'd soon be forced into talking to this girl. Talking, with a stranger. Not something he was good at.

When Collin had reached the girl he paused for a moment trying to think of what to say and after a few seconds opened his mouth to speak, only for the girl to end up falling onto her backside. What was he thinking running up to her like that? The girl obviosly wasn't used to seeing a centaur, then again Collin wasn't exactly used to being one. "Oh uh no don't apologize it was um my fault. I didn't mean to startle you or anything. My name's uh Collin." He looked down at himself and hunched over slightly to more comfortably reach the girls height, and offered her a hand up. "I don't normally look like this by the way. You wouldn't happen to know where I am right now would you? Do you have any idea what's going on, I'm awfully confused."

Arman rubbed his head where the small dice had fallen from the sky. He wondered at the poetic irony of both waking up hanging pretty much entirely over the edge of the little bit of plastic only for it to wind up coming straight back at him on the attack. Feeling for the throbbing point of pain he checked to make sure we wasn't bleeding. Luckily no such thing had occurred. With a groan he sat up and looked around, the ground seemed pretty normal this time around and the sky didn't look as much as if it were planning to steal something from him this time around. Still, could he really trust it when it had dropped him onto the small island chain... Or had it shrunken him down enough to fit... Or did the islands themselves grow? It was certainly a quandary.

He supposed it didn't really matter which one it was, after all no point crying over spilled milk right? Still, the bit about the ground not turning him into an Arman-pancake was rather nice. He pressed a palm against the ground and pushed, it didn't budge this time. Applying more pressure he only managed to end up digging his hand into the dirt, without it bouncing back into form. Maybe it was a one time offer from the ground to him? Or perhaps this strange place didn't really follow any strict rules and did whatever it wanted?

Well whichever case it was he wanted to have some memento of the event, perhaps he could show his brother if he was somewhere around here. And who couldn't find a use for a dice anyway? He got up onto his knees and began to crawl backwards and forwards looking for the dice wherever it was hiding. The little white thing was trying to smuggle itself underneath a small rock, where it had landed like a meteorite after rather rudely bouncing off his own head first. He digged the dice out and held it up to the light to get a better look at it. Whipping off the little bit of dirt that was still clumped to the sides, it seemed to be a totally plain and normal dice. He couldn't help but appreciate that fact about it, it almost reminded him of his own non-descriptiveness, a trait often ascribed to him which he wasn't exactly going to complain about. He found comfort in being so perfectly average that it almost made him stand out.

"Hello?" Called out a voice behind him, making him jump and spin around, still on his knees. He clutched his chest over his heart and breathed out a sigh from between tight lips when he saw the voice originated from a girl who didn't look like she was much older than himself. He took a deep breath get his air back and to try to settle his heartbeat back down to normal before pocketing the dice and getting himself back up to his feet.

"Jeez, you made me jump a little there." He called back cheerfully. "I uh... I didn't really expect anyone else to be around here. Well, I probably should have, but I did just fall out of the sky... I think... Or the ground grew big enough for me to land on it." He waved a hand as if to clear the air. "Eeeh, it was all pretty weird. Sorry I'm rambling a bit aren't I? I'm Arman, by the way, Arman Felch. What about you?" He smiled at the girl, not for a moment thinking that anything peculiar could happen any more now that he was on solid ground with another person around.

The cave was pitch black. There was absolutely no light. In fact, it was dark to the point that it reminded Stian of a black hole. He kept bumping into things as he tried to feel his way around, although eventually he got the hint and just walked in the middle where there was a clear path.

He was surprised there weren't any animals inside. 'Shouldn't there be bats or something? They live in the dark, don't they? Ugh, this place makes no sense!' He pondered, feeling annoyed at the fact that this dream world was completely nonsensical, yet also relieved that there weren't any wild animals. Especially wasps. 'Oh, there's the exit... Yay, light!' Stian finally emerged from the cave.

There, he found at a quaint little river. The water was weirdly clean, almost sparkling.'So... Is there even anything interesting here?' He thought mildly, glancing around. It was very lush and green, in stark contrast to the icy hill Stian had woken up on. Putting his hand in the water, he found that it wasn't cold. Lukewarm, in fact, and it felt kind of gross so he took his hand out. Swimming through were some kind of fish -- they looked like angler fish, but they seemed to have feathers and tiny little wings that could never be used for flying. 'Perhaps I could call them angler birds!'. Floating, or swimming, towards the lights on the anglers' antennae, were tiny acorns that may or may not have been sentient. They were all heading towards the light, so either there was some seriously messed up gravity or they were alive and moving towards it. Either way, once they got close enough, the angler birds would swallow them up. 'This place is super weird...' Thought Stian, genuinely enjoying the strange artefacts of this land.

Then he spotted two people talking a little ways over -- were they even people? He headed towards them, and as he got closer up, he realised that one of them was part horse and the other was probably human. Stian couldn't really tell, considering the hoodie that person was wearing. "Hellooooo!!" He called out, waving at them. Upon closer examination, he saw that the person in the hoodie was likely to be a girl, and seemed to not be wearing any trousers for some reason. And then the centaur boy was, well, just that. "Oh, sorry, am I interrupting? I'm Stian! Who're you?" He attempted some conversation with them, hoping they wouldn't think he was weird or something.

As Lyn was about to take a break from trying to locate another person, she heard a voice bellow in the distance. "Hey! I'll be right on over, just keep talkin'!" Once she heard the voice, she began to yell so the person could reach her. "Fantastic, there actually is someone is this bizzare candy land. Anyways if ya need me to keep talking that is not my best talent, I can just yell random words "till ya get here. Hey! What! How! When! Is! Something...! Words....!" Lyn kept on shouting anything that came to the top of her head until she spotted a man who perched himself on a branch and leaned against the tree.

Once Lyn got a good look at the person who responded to her, he looked quite strange with his messy Raven black hair and strange looking hat and coat. His eyes were also jet black along with a pale complexion, just like if he was a vampire. His most noticeable trait was however the bars floating above his head, it looked just like a character from a game. One would think that this was simply part of her dream but her mind would not be able to conjure up a person who looked like some freaky vampire who had video game style bats floating above him. It was like if the person she was looking at was another person, but if that was the case then how on earth are they sharing the same dream? Were they even on earth anymore? Her thoughts were interrupted when the man spoke.

The man waved down to her and greeted her with a howdy, along with a warm smile. He then followed it up by giving a subtle jab about her choice of clothing before giving a rather creepy chuckle. In response to the creepy chuckleinh, she just looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Well that's a way to make a nice first impression...and in case you were wondering, no. I am not cold in these clothes, in fact it's rather warm. But let's just get down to business, my name is Lyn and do you have any idea where we are? Or how we got here?" She spoke as she crossed her arms over her chest, a little irritated at the mans jab at her choice of clothing and a little creeped out after the mans chuckle. She knew her choice of clothing store was a little bit...ok it rather risquΓ© but for good reason! Shorts don't tear like pants. In any case he did not have to point it out!

She felt herself being pulled from the darkness that meant sleep between dreams. She tried to claw her way back to sleep, but it was no use. The birds were singing too loudly and the sun was too bright. There was something off about the song of the birds. The sound seemed sharper. In fact, she was positive she heard the soft sounds of a waterfall and... was that talking? Not the loud, angry sounds of home. Where am I?

She squinted at the light as she opened her eyes. She was under the canopy of a massive tree, bright blue sky peaking through the emerald green leaves. The colored were so much clearer, brighter, more beautiful than she had ever seen. She began to sit up, but found her arms to be weak, and her body aching. Her head hurt more than anything and it was making her nauseous. With a deep breath, she slowly rolled over and used the trunk of the tree to pull herself up. The bark was unnaturally soft against her hand, but cool in the shade. She rested her head against it, conserving her strength for a moment longer, before turning and leaving the tree behind.

"Where... am I?" Her eyes roamed the beautiful, but strange world around her. Wall fell down into glittering pools from a blue moon. There was a clock tower, leaning and in the middle of a lake not too far from where she stood. There were three strange shapes near the water, but what caught her attention and held it, was the massive white tree with golden leaves, reaching up into the sky. She felt herself drawn to it. It was like a dream.

She was dreaming... right? She rubbed at her forehead, hoping to rub away the ache and ran her hand through her long silver hair with a sigh. A strand came loose in her fingers and she shook it off, watching it float away in the wind.

Wait.

She reached back and gathered what was once dark blonde hair and pulled it over her shoulder. Silver. Her hair wasn't the only thing different. She was pale before, but the whiteness of her skin would put milk to shame. Her fingers were long and nimble. Her mind wandered to how well she would be able to play piano with these fingers. She shook herself once, forcing herself to focus and gazed down at herself.

She definitely didn't fall asleep in these clothes. A navy blue tunic with silver threading, black pants and boots. She circled, looking behind her. No tail. No scales or hooves. Good. A dark shape caught her eye back by the tree. It was a quiver of arrows made of a strange purple-black wood with blue fletchings and the most beautiful recurve bow she had ever seen. It was black as the night, but light as air. A quick pull told her it was of excellent make and perfect for her strength. The only thing that would make this any better was if she had wings.

She could barely contain her excitement as the voices of others carried to her--probably enchanced--ears and she turned to join them. Completely oblivious to the silvery wings beginning to unfold from her back. She wasn't even winded from running as she neared them. A grin stretched across her face.

"Hiya! Can you guys believe this place? It's better than anything I could ever dream of." She took note of the three characters in front of her. A girl in an oversized hoodie, a... centaur?, and a boy with kindness in his eyes. "I'm Liliana. But call me Lily." She probably looked like a nutcase with a bow tucked behind her, messy silver hair, and a grin that would rival the cheshire cat. At the moment, however, she couldn't care less. It was a world of her dreams and If this was, in fact, a dream she prayed to never wake up.

Nuelle took a look at Collin, particularly his hand he had offered to her. Hesitantly she reaches out and takes his hand and allows him to help her back to her feet. The fabric of her sleeve being strange, unlike cotton or silk, perhaps it is just something exotic. She takes a moment to gesture a sheepish nod in gratitude. "This... we are on the Fields of Overlake, Abdown said-" before she could continue, another had arrived on scene giving her yet another start, at least this time she had managed to stay upon her feet.

The new arrival, a younger boy, had presented himself as Stian, so many names she had come into all of a sudden, yet somehow she felt she had already known them somehow. Peculiar, that is, given she didn't know her own name until that suited cuckoo spoke it to her. "Hello," she says in greeting, wanting not to appear rude to those that had gone out of their way to greet her. It was common courtesy, she thought, though common where she did not know. "I'm-"

Yet again another had arrived on scene, a woman this time, with silvery hair and pointed ears, and apparently older than each of them. It appears the small gathering had turned into something of a small crowd. It didn't exactly frighten the girl, really, more along the lines it overwhelmed her to see so many people in a short amount of time, especially given she has no memory of people prior to begin with. Besides, what what there to fear? They all seemed quite kind.

"I can believe it... this place I mean, as I feel it beneath my feet it must be real," the drowsy girl softly answers Lily, completely oblivious to her rhetoric. "H-hello, I'm Nuelle. At least, that is what the bird man in the clock had told me." To many that would sound like she had a few screws loose upstairs, but it was the honest truth.

She had taken a moment to look over each of the people who had gathered around her, and the words Abdown spoke last flooded back into her mind. "O-oh! You... you must be some of the party guests I was told to greet," she says, before rubbing the side of her face casting a look of confusion. "Um, what form of party it is I do not know... do you?"

He just sort of laughed it off. He knew he made a bad first impression but it was far too late to change that.

"Hm? Do you mean to say that I, Supreme Maker of First Impressions, failed to make a good first impression? Impossible!" He spoke in his cheesy fake offended nobleman voice, complete with wild gesturing and primmed up posture. All the while he couldn't help but smile his friendly but all the while somewhat sinister smile. Perhaps being a pale weirdo in a dark longcoat and hat didn't help.

"I kid of course. My name's Rick, nice'ta meet'cha Lyn. I welcome you to the illustrious world of..." He turned dramatically, gesturing to the land ahead with a broad sweep of his arm. "Somewhere!" His proclamation echoed forth, carried over the canopy for some ways.

Turning around he abruptly jumped down from his perch, landing a couple arm lengths away directly in front of her. He landed with surprisingly little effort given the fact he was falling from high up on the tree. "How did we get here you ask?... Good question, I don't know." He put in a rather deadpan manner. "Truth is I just got here. You're the first person I've seen around."

"What I do know is that this place has got a lot to see, especially down along the river. It's like there was an entire city here at one point or another." He reflected on the sights, almost trailing off into thought as he could only wonder what was and why it was like this now. "If you follow the river you're bound to find some interesting things. I know there's a clock tower half submerged in a lake not far from here."

He was much too curious to let it be. Turning around he started on his way, walking back towards the riverside.
"Come along if you'd like. Not to act like I'm the expert here but at least the lake'll give you a landmark to go by if you choose your own way." He motioned to her for her to follow along while he spoke. He figured they could talk more on the way. Standing around wasn't getting him anywhere and he was eager to explore.

Lily's wings, still unnoticed by their owner, collapsed into her back as she gazed around. Everything was so beautiful! The sparkling waters, the crisp trees, even the people seemed to be beautiful though they were just people. The girl with the strange hoodie introduced herself as Nuelle. Lily smiled at her hand held out her hand in a greeting. "Very nice to meet you, Nuelle. That's a beautiful name by the way. It sounds like music to these ears." She reached up to touch them for emphasis and noticed that they were not the rounded sort of human ears. Instead they peaked into a delicate point. She nearly squealed in excitement, but she knew that would warrant strange looks from her new acquaintances and she wanted to make a good first impression.

Then she realized she had completely missed something in the girl's words. A party? "A party? In the big clock tower? I knew nothing about it! Oh, I'm so excited! A party in a world like this!" She twirled around, her silvery hair flowing behind her. Then she stopped and looked at them. "Speaking of. Where exactly are we anyway?

As the man spoke in a fake and cheesy offended nobleman's voice while gesturing wildly along with his primmed up posture, Lyn chuckled for a bit. She was a little less pissed off thanks to an actual funny joke, but the mans smile continued to creep her out. The man soon introduced himself as Rick, greeted her and after turning around dramatically introduced her to the land of somewhere.

It was clear that Rick did not know where they were at, but juding by how things were Lyn would be surprised if he did know where they were. While she was complementing things, Rick jumped down from his tree an arms length away from her and in a deadpaned manner told her that he had no idea how they got here and he himself just arrived in this land and Lyn was the first person he encountered. Rick however did know that this place has a lot to see, especially along the river since there was a clock tower half submerged in a lake not far from where they were at.

Lyn's curiosity peaked, some sort of place to investigate? Perhaps it has something that could tell them where they were at. Rick motioned for Lyn to follow and she decided to go with him, it was better than wandering alone with no clear direction. "Thanks for the information Rick, although this means that someone or something dragged us to this land...or somehow we are having the same lucid dream together. Whatever the case, nice to meet you Rick."

"Jeez, you made me jump a little there. I uh... I didn't really expect anyone else to be around here. Well, I probably should have, but I did just fall out of the sky... I think... Or the ground grew big enough for me to land on it." He waved a hand as if to clear the air. Zarhara smiled gently and listen to him intently.

So she HAD seen him fall from the sky. This was crazy, and impossible. This had to be a dream...or something like it. Maybe a hallucination? Had she taken too many sleeping pills, or maybe the chunky monkey before bed was the issue. No more chocolate before bed.

"Eeeh, it was all pretty weird. Sorry I'm rambling a bit aren't I? I'm Arman, by the way, Arman Felch. What about you?" He said as he smiled. Zahara examined the boy in front of her. This whole situation is peculiar....and his rambling was kind of funny. It made him seem more relatable she supposed.

Zahara hesitated only for a moment before she smiled brightly and responded:
"My name is Zahara Rhea, a pleasure to meet you."

"Do you know where we are? I...woke up here and for the life of me I have no clue how to get here..." She said as she looked around unsure of herself suddenly. Everything was different around here...The breeze picked up and pulled a loose strand of her hair. She brushed her hair behind her ear and shrugged. No point in panicking.

"Do you...mind if we stick together for the time being?" she asked suddenly as she examined their surroundings. Too strange to be along.

The sound of bubbles woke Maritza from her sleep. Eyes still closed she stretched and slowly came back to the position she was in before opening her eyes. She froze as she floated in her spot. W-Where am I? She thought. Looking around she saw fish swimming around her, minding their own business. It took her a few more seconds to realize where she was. Why am I under water?! Why am I not dead? How am I…breathing? She asked no one really. She swam easily around, breathing like normal, and laughed. I must be dreaming. Her hands gently glided through the water as she notice bubbles would form where her hand once was. She could stay in this water world for hours, but her curiosity got the better of her.

Her body rolled and thrusted upwards towards the surface. Maritza couldn’t get over the simplicity of swimming and breathing underwater. Whatever dream this was she never wanted to wake up. As soon as she came up from under the water her head started to ache and she felt nauseated. Quickly, she sunk back down into the water, but it didn’t help. Maybe I need to eat, she thought as she saw to land. Once out and the pain receding, she took notice she was not in the ocean, but a lake. The waters were crystal clear and you could see straight to the bottom. Her eyes drifted to the surface’s scenery and was taken aback by its own beauty.

The trees were all different colors, not like fall colors, but like those fluffy trees in The Lorax colors. The grass that surrounded her was not green, like regular grass. In fact nothing was at all the right color. She looked down at her clothes and noticed everything was dry. It hadn’t even been five minutes and it wasn’t like it was scorching hot. Either way she needed to find food to calm her stomach. Twirling around she tried to see if there was a path leading away. To no such luck. Guess I am making my own path, she muttered to herself.

Maritza walked passed the trees, running her hands along their trunks. Some were rough, but other’s was smooth. She had no idea she could dream up something like this. The farther away from the lake she got the more she could see of the weird shaped buildings. Something was glowing in the sun, passed a few of the buildings. Not thinking, Maritza kept walking, never looking down to where she was going. Before long she tripped over what looked like a sea slug, but it was much larger and kept turning different colors. She was about to scream, but notice the slug paid no mind to her. It was like she hadn’t even been there.

It is just a dream, remember. She told herself before standing up and dusting herself off. She kept going in the direction she was originally going. Maritza wanted to find out what was glowing. Food had escaped her mind and was of no bother to her at this point.

As he helped the girl up he looked her over curiously. She looked normal enough, the hoodie seemed strange as it obscured her face , and gave her an odd sort of look but otherwise she seemed human enough. Once she was back on her feet he nodded back to her almost as shyly and awkwardly as see herself was. He listened intently as she spoke, eager to sort out this whole mess, apparently they were in the Fields of Overlake.

Before she could say more they were interrupted by the appearance of another, a young boy, looking much younger than either Collin himself or the strange girl beside him. The boy introduced himself as Stian but Collin didn't say anything in reply. He was too busy in his internal struggle not to be overcome by his anxiety and be reduced to a stuttering buffoon incapable of articulating a single thought. The best option was simply not to say anything at all at this point. He looked back at the girl who was once again getting ready to speak.

Then they were yet again joined by another. This one significantly less human, the wings gave it away, and based on his own predicament he could only assume that was not how she usually woke up in the morning. Strangely enough she didn't seem to notice, or perhaps she was simply to comfortable like that to let it show. T

The girl introduced herself as Lily, meanwhile Collin was internally screaming. perhaps it was good there were so many people, he was still lost but not alone. On the other hand, he wasn't alone. Instead surrounded by strangers who he had no idea how to talk to. What if he made a fool of himself? What if he said the wrong thing, and he ended up dealing not only with this whole situation but the added scorn of these strangers as well? Even worse what if he didn't say anything? By this point he was fully aware of his silence and it did little to help the situation.

He couldn't just not say anything, they would think him rude and he didn't want to risk such a bad first impression on what could be the only people here. "It's uhm very nice to meet you both. My name's Collin." Making a point not to make eye contact with any of them he somehow managed to squeak out an introduction.

His eyes were once again on the newly identified Nuelle as she began to speak."A party? What kind of party involves stranding people in a forest and turning them into centaurs? This is ridiculous!" It didn't take long but he was no longer able to contain his nervousness and frustration at this whole affair. He silently cursed himself for acting this way, letting the fear and anxiety so clear on his face take over so soon, but the floodgates were open and he was unable to put a stop to it.

He then pointed toward the new girl Lilly in his rant. "And are you aware that you have wings, you don't seem like you know. People aren't supposed to have wings or four legs! Things aren't right here, and I don't like it. This is no time for a party!"

Are awoke. Which was a surprise considering how much she drank last night. She leaned up. She must have slept for ages. She felt well rested and had no hangover. Which again was surprising. The tattoos moved slowly across her skin with a dark blue tint. She just sat their in the tall grass taking in the world around her.

She tensed up. The tattoos stopped moving and went to a solid black. She again had to take in the world around her. This place was foreign. The grass felt all wrong. The sky was different. The smell was again all wrong. Are stood up and started to run. She had no idea where to go but had to get answers. Dogging bushes and hopping over rocks. She tripped once but caught herself. All the sleeping made her body numb. She wasn’t as agile as she normally is.

It took a bit but she could see a person just behind the bushes. Not knowing if it was a friend or foe. She went full speed. I mean whats the worse that could happen? She cleared the bushes. It was an odd group. Very odd. One was a horse person. Hoping they spoke Galgreck she asked, β€œIrigeth? Sala eth macike?”

She hoped they could understand. Her tattoos began to move again but still a solid black. Just in case all went south she would be ready for a defense. Or if need be an attack.

Another person had joined the fray! It was almost overwhelming for Stian, meeting so many strange people. He smiled at the newcomer, Lilly, and said, "Heya, Nuelle, Collin and Lily! One of my classmates is actually called Collin, you know! I've never met anyone named Nuelle though, it's a pretty strange name! Where's it from?". He would have waited for an answer, but there was mention of a party and he forgot all about his question. "Party?! That sounds great! Is it a themed party? One of those fantasy parties would suit this super well." Stian clapped his hands together in excitement, leaning forward with sparkling eyes. Then he had an idea -- "How about afterwards, we go mountain climbing! Do you see those huge mountains over that way?" He gestured wildly northward, "That would be so fun!".

He would have continued, if not for Collin having a sudden outburst of... Anger? Frustration? Something along those lines. In any case, he wasn't happy. "Uh... Are you okay? Anything else to say?" Stian asked awkwardly, surprised. "So... You're not usually a centaur? And that Lily isn't usually a... Fairy, is it? Elf? Felf? Elfairy? Whatever it's called!" He paused, thinking of what to say next, before adding "After all, this is a dream.".

Stian wondered if it was possible this wasn't a dream. That all of these strange happenings -- weather changes, rainbow penguins, turning into clouds and everything else -- weren't just a figment of his imagination. 'Well, this isn't like any of my usual dreams at all, so I guess it's possible' He thought. 'But there's no way that it's not a dream. Ugh, this is turning out very... Strange. I'd like to just wake up. Well, I'll climb that mountain and then wake up. Because it's a dream. Yeah, this is a dream!'.

And then another person showed up. This one was very strange -- tattoos all over... His? Her? Body, and an odd posture among other things. She spoke something in what seemed to be a foreign language, so Stian replied, "Um, I don't speak that language... Can you speak in English? Or Danish?".

Lily had barely registered the centaur's discomfort before he seemed to verbally explode. She could see anxiety start to shake him and she took a step back to give him space. "It's okay. Take deep breaths, alright?" she said, her hands up to show she wasn't hiding anything. Then what he said finally hit her. Her blue eyes widened in awe. "Wait. Wings?" She twisted around to look behind her and gasped. "Omigosh! I have wings!" She twirled around and around. She had never been so happy in her life. A land where dreams come true. If it was a dream she hoped to never wake up. This place was more than she had ever wished for on her birthday candles. "This is fantastic!"

She grinned at Stian. "I'm not normally a fae, no. But I'm super excited to find myself as one now. This place just continues to get better and better!"

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw something moving fast towards them. She gasped in surprise and nearly fell backwards, the weight of her wings nearly bringing her down. "Well hello to you, too." She muttered. Upon closer inspection she realized the being was covered in tattoos.. and.. did they move? She blinked. Maybe not.

It seemed to be taken forever to get out the forest. Maritza could still see the glow up ahead, but now she was hearing voices. They were distant and faint, but never the less voices. She hesitated, I wonder if they are nice people? Do they not see the shinning between the weird looking buildings? She thought. Pushing her hair behind her ears she sat against a tree trunk to rest. Maritza had no idea how long she had been walking, but it seemed like a really long time.

She went to tie her hair with her scrunchy, pulling it over her hand, when it started to glow. W-What the... now in her hand was a sword. It was almost the color of the lake, but had pigments of a darker blue. It was lite in her hand. This sword has to be as tall as me! How is it so lite?! She almost screamed at it. Standing up, while having the sword at a good distance away from herself, she measured its height against her own height. It was only a few inches taller than her. She grabbed the sword with her other hand and swung. It was clear she looked awkward doing so. Now how do I get it back to my scrunchy? She thought.

Maritza tapped her wrist with the sword and it transformed back to the scrunchy. Ha! She was glad it was a simple way. Now that she knew she had a weapon she headed toward the voices, hoping they were nice.

Re: The Land of Nod

I'm sorry to hear about that, take your time...

Re: The Land of Nod

My afore mentioned father in law passed away so please excuse my absence.

Re: The Land of Nod

Sorry again, been rough here but got a post out, albeit a bit shorter than I planned. Planning to break out the first "event" of sorts soon. Just waiting on others right now.

Re: The Land of Nod

I'm gonna try and post today but if I don't then I'll def have one up on Thursday!

edit: Managed to get a post out sorry for taking so long.

Re: The Land of Nod

Sorry for the delay, I had come down with bit of a cold that's had me knocked out and slowed for a bit. Worst of it is over now, just wish I had my sense of taste and smell back!

Re: The Land of Nod

I got a picture up for my character, just something for the sake of better illustrating his appearance.

Re: The Land of Nod

It is no problem, we are only starting... more importantly, I'm really sorry to hear this!

Re: The Land of Nod

I am so sorry about the delay. A tragedy struck my family. My father in law was in a significantly bad motorcycle accident and so I have been away from all internet connection. I will get caught up ASAP.

Re: The Land of Nod

Hey, no problem, and there's still plenty of room.

Re: The Land of Nod

Let the insanity begin!

Re: The Land of Nod

Still got room? I would like to join but i am having internet issues so i would not be able to post until next week.

Re: The Land of Nod

Alright guys I got my first post up. Collin's really confused and likely to spaz out when he realizes everyone else is pretty much normal haha. Just realized I'm like the only non human here. Looking forward to continue this though!

Re: The Land of Nod

Got my first post up. Since Rick's looking out from a tall place he's likely to spot one of you if you're moving around near the river area.

Re: The Land of Nod

Heya! I finished up Stian and gave him a bit of a polish, so I should have a post up soon! (Right after I attend to everything I've been procrastinating haha)

Re: The Land of Nod

Finished off Rick completely. I've got his powers up and everything. Naturally as he's an avid video game player he's got video game themed abilities. I should be able to get his first post up in a bit, I just need to catch up on some rest first.

Re: The Land of Nod

He sounds really interesting, I like the humor as a coping device aspect to him.

Edit: Kickoff post is up!

Re: The Land of Nod

I got my character submitted. Figured I'd put forward a Work In Progress since his abilities are going to require a bit of explaining as they're rather odd.

Re: The Land of Nod

Just finished my character. Noticed we mostly had females with a humanoid frame so I figured I'd mix it up a bit with a horsey dude.

Re: The Land of Nod

I don't mind. Whichever you want!

Re: The Land of Nod

Excellent! Want me to preemptively accept or wait until it is finished?
