Description

Full Name: Cariel Sypher
Name liked to be addressed by: Cari
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Rito

Description: Cariel is someone whose strength is hidden. Although it may not look like it, she has quite strong arms and legs, also something strange about her is that she has no beak like most Ritos. Kyte and her dad agree that it is because one of their ancestors married a human, although this is the first time they can think of when a human trait was visible.

There are a few differences. Cariel has blue eyes, not green, and she wears a blue belt and hair piece.

Personality

Cariel is someone who will trust anyone, unless given good reason not to trust them. She knows that it could be used against her, but she can't help it. When she trusts people, they seem to like her more, and she likes to be liked by others. Another fun trait she has is that she doesn't take anything to seriously, unless its a life or death situation, but besides that she will try and have fun with it. The main reason for this is because if she gets to stressed she does badly, for Cariel is really bad under stress or pressure. Cariel also loves to learn all she can, mostly about the earth and stones, but also about anything else that sounds interesting. She will also try to show great respect for those taking their time to teach her. Something that tends to bug people is that she states the obvious sometimes, although recently she has been trying to stop doing it, but it mostly just slips out.

Something else about Cariel is that she can be a bit careless at times, she will fly around with closed eyes for fun and she won't care if she hits something. She will also fly really close to the ground at high speeds so it gives her little time to react if she meets someone of the road. Not only is she careless while playing around, but also when she is battling. She never takes battles seriously and just plays around while doing them. Cariel has to little battle experience to know how dangerous it is and she goes looking for it so she can have a little fun. All the battles she has done have been games to her. Another thing about Cariel is that she doesn't see anyone above anyone else, everyone is equal in her eyes. She respects people for what they have done, not because they have a high rank, although ranks normally mean they can or have done something to help the people.

Ever since she got her wings Cariel has realized that she is scared of being alone, she feels like its hopeless and like she can't do anything. Something that makes her feel this way is when she is in the dark. Not being able to see makes her feel alone, so she always likes it when people talk to her when its dark. At night she and Kyte would stay up for hours just talking until Cariel got comfortable is the darkness. When she is flying all by herself she doesn't feel alone because she can see the whole world and knows there are people living in each city below her, as well as the earth itself just watching. Another thing that helps her cope with these fears is a stone her father gave her for her tenth birthday. It is smooth and almost perfectly round, at times it seems gold, at others it is silver, and it also will give off a faint golden glow in the dark. It also bears a strange symbol on it, but she doesn't know what it means. The light that is lets out is small but it reminds her of her father. Since she got that stone she has a tendency to pick up any odd or interesting looking rocks and stones she comes across, and then bring them home. She will always carry her favorites around with her as she travels.

Equipment

Cariel's weapon of choice is a sling, and she always has a good supply of normal stones. She enjoys shooting at all different targets, especially moving ones. When she was young, Cariel would often just throw rocks when she was bored, which happened quite often, but she was never any good at throwing and would often get into trouble for breaking things and hitting people. For her seventh birthday her brother Kyte gave her the sling, which she had seen him making, but had no idea what it was for. He taught her how to use it and then gave her little tips to make her stones hit harder or softer. Now, the sling is a useful weapon for battle. Cariel is now able to make her own slings, but decided to use the ones her brother makes her, for his first one broke after a couple of years, but he is always ready to give her a new one.

Although she has no skill with it whatsoever, Cariel also carries with her a short sword. This is a newly acquired weapon that she found on the hands of a Black Legion member. She had been flying near Skull Tower and saw a few undead soldiers, so she used her sling to knock out three of them before they found out where she was, then she easily dodged any attacks they tried to use against her and knocked the others out. It had been a small group so it was fairly easy. Cariel was pleased with herself, for when the undead woke up it would take some time to remember what they were supposed to be doing, and to her, even slowing down the legion, she felt like she was helping against the war. Before she left though she saw something shine in the sun, and when she went down to examine it she found a beautiful short sword. She has no idea if it is a good blade or not, for she has no knowledge of swords, but she likes having it with her. So far she has yet to use it, and she hasn't experimented with it because eventually she will get someone to teach her to use one properly and she doesn't want to have to get rid of any bad habits.

She also carries with her a small pouch where she keeps her special stones, and sometimes, when she feels like it, she will carry around the grappling hook that every Rito child receives before they get there wings.

History

Cariel is the second child of Jarek and Terien Sypher. Their first child was their son, Kyte, he is two years older then Cariel. Her mother, Terien, died during childbirth, and her father is one of the warriors fighting with Princess Zelda against the Black Legion, and doesn't often come home, so she was mostly raised by other people in the village. She doesn't view herself as one with out two loving parents who are always there for her, instead she just sees that she has lots of family around the city. While she is very close to many adults in the city, she has close to no friends, this is mainly because they see her as strange because she has no beak. She will mostly go off and play by herself or with Kyte. At her seventh birthday, when she received her slingshot the first thing she did was hit her brother, but he just laughed with her then showed her how to use it properly.

Before she got her wings, she had often ventured up towards the tower that Erbalu is found on, and would get to as high as she was allowed to go, and sometimes father... but she could not go to the top until the her coming of age. When the time finally did come she was extremely nervous and her father wasn't there. That had been a big fear recently and she could barely get up to the point where she had been to before. Multiple times she was about to turn back, but would think of the disappointment from both Kyte and her father. Cariel kept going, even though half the time her body moved on its own. She was three-fourths of the way up when she was about to collapse from exhaustion. The journey up the tower was not the problem, it was her dad. Thinking about Kyte had already helped her through most of the way, but she really had wanted her dad to have been there. When she looked up to keep going, she saw her dad waiting for her with open arms. All her tiredness went away and she easily finished it and got up to Erbalu and was able to get her wings. That day she found out something she had been pushing deeper and deeper, she was scared of being alone. With her brother and dad there, she has never felt that way since.

Recently Cariel has been traveling the land, especially the forests. She loves to fly low, weaving and swerving through the trees. On one of her trips across the land she ran into a small party of undead. She easily took them out, but before she left she found a short sword which she liked and decided to keep. Cariel, on her travels, will watch and study other races because they seem so interesting to her, especially Zoras. She watches them swim and has found a new technique when flying that is a mixture of both Rito's flight and Zora's swimming. This technique helps her weave through the trees swiftly.
