Background: Zoey was born and raised in Sinnoh. At 11, she set off with only her Piplup and a bag full of Poke Balls. Her father had worked in Prof.Birch's lab, and so Zoey got her Piplup. They had been together for a year when Zoey left to become a trainer. Zoey had kept her Pokemon as company and didn't begin to level up her Piplup until she left. As she travelled over Sinnoh and defeating the Gyms, Zoey discovered that she didn't want to train her Pokemon to be strong. She wanted to train them because they were really good company. So, she hopped on a boat to Kanto and never looked back. She travelled around Kanto, catching her Vulpix, Persian, and Growlithe. After she had bonded with these, she headed toward Johto. She arrived in New Bark Town and met entusiastic Prof.Elm. He asked Zoey to take part in an experiment he was conducting. She picked the Chikorita, and they went to travel Johto. Zoey came back to Kanto as Prok.Oak wanted to study her Empoleon after it had been with her for so long.
