Introduction

You awaken in a dimly lit but spacious foyer. Around you are the comatose bodies of several others, and a quick check reveals that they are not dead, but rather unconscious. Everything seems brand new, although aside from the others in foyer, the house appears to be uninhabited. Through the heavy front doors is a well-groomed lawn that looks perfectly posh, except that at the very edge of the yard, past the wrought iron fence, the world ends and the ground drops off into an endless, yawning black abyss. Yes, the foundation of the mansion seems to rest upon a chunk of land floating in an endless abyss. You survey your surroundings. There is no water, and there is limited food (only the fruits and vegetables growing in the garden) and you cannot stay here and expect to live for long. Worse still, there is a presence in the air, something dark and sinister, and it scares you. You want to escape and return to the Multiverse. What will you do?

Rules

RULES

-The abyss exists in a separate universe, plane, and dimension than the Multiverse, and you cannot use a portal to travel between them. Nice try though.
-I'm imposing a limit of 10 character, all of which require approval, so that the roleplay doesn't get too crowded. This does not include my character, which is the primary antagonist.
-This is a dangerous roleplay, and you can die. Remember this when you want to port your Multiverse character, because you may not want to potentially lose them.
-Everyone starts the game in the foyer, awakening from a deep sleep. No exceptions. If you join the roleplay late it will be assumed that you have been unconscious in the foyer the entire time.
-Read the area descriptions before you roleplay in them. They're important.
-Write in the third-person. Complete sentences people. With subjects. And by subjects I don't just mean he/she/it. You need to give some indication as to who or what you're referring to!
-NO TWILIGHT STYLE-VAMPIRES. EVER. I hate them so much. If you submit one, I will reject them and drop them into the story at some random point later on to be killed. By auto-hit. No arguments. Seriously, don't submit one.

Otherwise, the primary source of tension is clear in the first few posts, but the sense of foreboding seems to dissipate quickly over the next few posts. Obviously, this is only the beginning of a story, and so the complete picture is not yet drawn, but these are the first impressions.

A posh den full of various hunting trophies, comfortable sitting chairs, and a marble fireplace.

Grand Bathroom Thumbnail

The bathroom on the second floor of the mansion is truly a sight to behold. The floor, walls, and appliances appear to be made from solid, reinforced gold. It would be very pleasant to use, but for some reason the bathtub, sink, and toilet to not run water, but rather black inky fluid.

Mansion: Attic Thumbnail

You stand in the attic of the mansion. The wooden floorboards creak constantly and seem unstable. The room is full of cardboard boxes. There is a mannequin in the corner that appears to be coated in a black ink-like fluid.

In a dark place, full of dark things, the Shadow stirred. It knew its prey was there, and soon would awake, and then the hunting could begin. The Shadow was confident, confident they would never find it. Confident they would never escape. This was the Shadow's domain. Its element. The Shadow, creature of the Abyss, nightmare to end all nightmares. It had been dormant here for too long. It hungered. The Shadow stirred, and then was silent, and it waited eagerly for its prey to awake. It waited eagerly in dark place, full of dark things.

Oooooohhh.....His face rebounding off the carpet is not a pretty sight. He's not dead yet aaaand straight into the back of a sofa. Ow...There was just groaning as he stayed put, wondering what was going on. What was going to happen next. He should probably find another way of travelling. He seemed to be hijacked far, faaar too often. He couldn't see how...He was travelling in winds he didn't understand further than how its used. The fur on the side of his face felt like it was on fire where friction had pulled it. At least his head wasn't spinning as much. The rest of him made angry protests as he tried to get up though. A sitting position will have to do.

Pain. Why was there so much pain? Biting her lip as she forced her eyes open. Blackness. No it was dark. Why the heck was it so dark? A groan of pain sounded off some where. From her. But there was another. Someone else. Breathing heavily slowly moving herself regaining her self and movements. Not wanting to get up. So she didn't her eyes scanning the area breathing heavily still as she took it in.
Covered in darkness. But beautifully made. Where was she? Never before she had seen something like this. Swallowing for a second she croaked out, "Hello?...Hello..."

Scott heard the calls of someone - a voice he did not recognize. He went to his bed alone. Did the mob take him away to threaten his stepfather? He pushed out his arm, and felt the ground around him. Ground. Hard ground. He also felt his pistol right next to him. He wasn't taken by the mob, he wouldn't have his pistol then. This was all a bad dream, yes, that's all it was. When he would awake, he would fall back into the nightmare that he couldn't escape, yes, yes.

Scott slowly sat up, wincing. He felt soar all over, like he got run over by a bus. Where the hell was he? What happened? Scott did not go to bed like this, that's for sure. He tried to stand, but his legs wouldn't let him for now. "What's going on..." said Scott in a haze of confusion.

Voices?!
"Aaaaaahhhh...." That hurt his neck, very much. He could feel it's movement in every click. Too fast! Too fast..."Hello?" Getting up would be good. His legs weren't that badly beaten up to be honest. Lets just get up...The movement was cautionary. Slow rolling onto his feet before pushing upwards off one knee and the top edge of the sofa. His legs felt stable enough. Not particularly reassuring but he was upright, wasn't he? Steps came naturally despite a troublesome, persistent bruise on his leg. It was the window that stole him away though. She couldn't help but stare, his lightly-hampered walk towards the glass presented a massive curiosity.

A black sky. Night isn't as simple as being black often enough. The sky always has blue lurking somewhere within. A sort of dye the atmosphere carries but jet back just doesn't normally happen. It's odd to stare at something wrong.

Was sick of hearing there voices. Biting her lip hard as she got up barely standing as she looked around. Good gods. Where was she? Trying to stretch out muscles as she scanned the area. Other people where here. Did they bring her? They better not have. Or she'll...She wasn't sure what she would do. But it was something. "Is anyone awake....Um Alive? Who are you people?"
Frowning as she was a little upset that no one was responding. Are they all dead? Or did they not understand her. Maybe she had to try something else. Writing?

He spins round to face the small girl. His face, under a layer of fur, looks at her in his best, non-threatening way. The white muzzle shows a slight grin.
"Howdy!" He said, waving to her with one and but slipping the other in a jeans pocket. "I'm Tyro. Aaaand you are?" He said as twin tails waft slowly behind him.

OOC: Hey guys, just a little notice, always remember to type in the third-person. In other words, instead of he or she, type your character's name so that we know who's doing what. Seriously, I'm talking to you Tyro. And you Lightsinner. Basically just you two.

Looked over at Tyro. Blinking and not moving an inch as she slowly backed up. Oh gods or the forest. It was a Feral. Holding in a scream as she backed up from him. Slowly, slowly. Don't get him angry. "....hi."
Weak and small as she finally screamed and ran out down the hall way screaming help.

OCC: Why? We've all got one character in each post and me and Tyro share the name. And I know who's post concerns who by who made it. Second Person should not be prejudiced against.

"Uuuu-huh...." The fox said with a slow, confused nod of his head. He watched the diminutive girl rush off. Was, was she actually scared of Tyro? He'd only grinned, not smiled. He'd bore no teeth at all. He wasn't that intimidating. Tall? Yes. Able to use it to intimidate? Not so far. Surely he should have arms able to bend steel before small, green-haired girls freaked. With a sigh, Tyro takes light steps towards the hallway before crouching just before.

A scarlet shape could be seen in the corner of Rayo's eye galloping past. It stopped in front of her. The small fox with the two tails bigger than its body, bent low and yapped a little, shaking the tails back and forth vigorously. It's big, brown eyes stared straight up at her. Its mouth hung loose in exited anticipation.

The Fox wanted to play.

Scott looked at the two, confused. This all had to be some weird dream, or hallucination, or something of the like. He quietly grabbed his pistol, and put it in his pocket, trying not to attract the attention of the two people in front of him. Scott had a dream like this once, except it was more bright, and he didn't have the eerie feeling that something wasn't trying to kill them. Regardless, he rolled back on the ground and tried to go back to sleep. He normally fell asleep quickly, but this time he couldn't. It definitely wasn't the floor, he had fallen asleep on tiny rocks before. Oh well... Scott sat up, and pinched himself.

He wasn't waking up.

OOC: I didn't see that. *shrugs* My bad?

Rayo jumped and let out a yelp. Scrambling back from the fox that blocked her path. "Oh gods there are two of them!"
She looked back over at Tyro and shivered. Rayo put her back against the nearest wall and curled up into a ball. She bit her tongue hard. Tasting her blood in her mouth as she sobbed. This can't be a dream. So it must be hell. Rayo shut her eyes tight as she started to remember all of those stories her mother told her about them. "Don't eat me...Don't eat me. Please."

Is this girl a colossal coward because she can't help it or do foxes really fill her with fear? Well, he thought he was being cute. Sort of puppy-like but apparently this is all too much for the chronic fraidy-cat to bare. Two tails weren't that weird, surely!

So the fox slowly trots forwards. He slumps next to her, looking up hopefully before letting his head rest on his little black paws. He begins to whine in the most pathetic way he can.

Still had her hand covering her head as she gave a small glance at the Feral. Shivering as she heard it whine. Was it getting ready do attack? Pushing herself as hard as she could into the wall. Looking at it trough her fingers as she let out her own small whine. Rayo shook her head not moving and trying not to provoke it. "What do you want?"
Not finding anything that she could give the thing. It should have attacked her by now. But why hadn't it? It was slightly offensive to think that she didn't look that appetizing. "Can you talk?"

Rayo didn't say anything for a while. She just stared at the ....Fox? Her head tilted slightly as she stared at him...It. "Whats a plush toy?"
At this point she was more confused than scared. Finally getting a grip on what was happening. She took a slow look around her. "Where am I."

Could this be a key to unlocking the puzzle the girl was: Why was she freaked by everything? Could the fact that she's never heard of a 'plush toy' lead to the conclusion that she was never given a small teddy as a child and so had nothing to cling to in her own moments of fright?

Tyro shook his head and hoped never to have to go down that line of thought ever again...He banished it to where it had come from to make sure as Rayo got up.
"It's another name for a soft toy." He said as he stood.
"Where am I?" She asked as she took a slow sweep of the room.
"Your guess is as good as mine."

The mansion shakes with a deep groan and the sound of cracking wood can be heard in the distance. There is a crash. The lights go out. The lights come back on. Gloomy effigies of Tyro, Rayo, and Scott now dangle from the ceiling, hanging by the neck. A threat, perhaps a premonition. The nightmarish imprints dissolved into wispy smoke, gone as swiftly as they had come. The threat remained. The Shadow was done waiting. The hunt had begun.

Tyro looked up at the image of him swinging two and fro...Again...Huh. Maybe a haircut wouldn't be that much of a bad idea. He liked to be comfortable but there might not be anything wrong with a quick trim. Just to smarten him up a little bit. But was this really necessary? Woooo! I'm coming for you! Wooooo! Why not actually come and get me rather than trying to scare me out of my skin first? A lot of time saved there right?

But, the little girl will definitely freak. Her dead body is supposedly hanging from the ceiling. He was used to illusions but this bunny-rabbit of a girl is just going to freak out. If a small, deliberately (and hopefully) adorable fox makes her recoil then this will just make her run or something. Tyro's fur could be felt on her leg as he sits next to her, looking up.
"Its not real. Your fine..." He said. "You can hug me if you like..."

Scott saw himself hanging on the ceiling. This really is a funny dream, isn't it? I guess this might be a good time to stand up. thought Scott. He tried to push himself up, but he fell down again. He was still way too sore. Scott tried a second time, and he was successful. "I think we should get moving," said Scott, attempting to jump in and take a lead. There was one large door across the foyer, which he started walking to, waiting for the others to follow. They might as well explore this place, whether it was just all part of a dream. This dream didn't feel like a dream at all. It almost felt real.

Rayo stared at the things hanging from the ceiling. Not quite processing what was seen till after the images left. Seeing herself as she blinked slowly. Closing her eyes as she screamed bloody murder. Which is pretty much what she had just seen. Curling up into a small as she screamed into her legs. "OH My Gods! Good precious mother of the reeds. What the Ordin is wrong with this place!?"
Her voice echoed down the halls shivering her her fetal position. Screaming out at both of them again. "Who are you people!? I don't like this. I just want to be back home.."
Trailing off as she whimpered. Half of Rayos mind grinding gears to get herself in gear. This wasn't going to help her live if things like that kept popping up.

Rayo could feel the weight of Tyro's paws on her arm.
"Shhhhh..." He said moving a little closer to her face. "I'm Tyro and I'm here to help. As long as we're probably stuck here, I'm going to make sure your perfectly fine." Right...ummm...Oh!
"Hang on, hang on!" The pressure from the paw alleviated as he trotted away for a few seconds. Countless thuds like bean bags littering the hallway. Silence then the noise returned with a slight jingling noise. The paws could be felt on her arm again but something quite warm flopped between those paws. You could feel the glow with its orange warmth.
"Wear this. You'll feel better and it will probably keep you safer than not having it. It does get a little warm though." There was a quick lap from something a little damp but ruff...rough.
"Hello? Come on! Pretty, glowing jewellery?"

[OOC] Officially (Belatedly) Dead

It's been a long time coming, but as of this post the RP is officially dead and gone, which is depressing to me because I spent an excruciatingly long time preparing it. Sadly, it seems that I failed to motivate the players to explore, although it doesn't help that a good few of them posted in incomprehensible anti-grammar. Oh well, maybe I'll have better luck next time. OR MAYBE I'LL NEVER MAKE ANOTHER ROLEPLAY AGAIN.

Nah, I probably will. Maybe with zombies this time, although I would really like to bring the Shadow-Nightmare back.

[OOC] Ready to Begin!

I've finished creating all of the places that will be accessible from the start of the roleplay. Anyone who wishes to begin roleplaying in the forums can do so now, or you can wait for more people to join if you'd rather have everyone starting at once. Regardless, I'll be kicking it off for prospective posters with a quick, menacing introduction.
