Introduction

In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.


The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.


I am Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised underground. Having never ventured beyond my Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. My journey takes me from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where my actions will determine the fate of mankind…Will you join me?

Life in the tunnels was never easy, but it was our home. I felt no small amount of comfort seeing the same people day to day, it was my shelter and place of security. I had just turned twenty and could not have imagined what would happen the morning my father left for the nearby station of Polis...


My father left for Polis many times through out my life, leaving for days at a time, leaving me to fend for myself. This is what I was used to; this was part off the routine of my life.


As I watched the airlock close behind him I felt as if it would be the last time I would see him, this was something everyone felt when a loved one entered the tunnels…because as long as they were in a tunnel, they would never be safe. The thought was quickly dismissed by the alarm going off; it signaled an attack on the forward blockade. It was something that was so routine that I would sometimes feel strange on the days when all was silent, as it put me in an uneasy state. I picked up my Kalash, some ammo, and my gas mask before heading off to my post, what ever it was , we were going to be ready...

And i was just about to get back to sleep, well i guess not now after that alarm went off. The young teen would sighed as he rolled of his makeshift bed and slowly stood up watching all the people around him run to there posts. Guess its my time to shine and show them what i can do.

Watch me father, watch me from a better place. I will make you proud of me and our name, i promise.

There was a pause as the teen stood there watching, this was the first time he had seen one of the many blockades placed around the metro tunnels and boy was it a thing to see. At lest 10 or so men with there rifles pointed towards the enemy who are throwing themselves at our bullets. The teen grinned and stepped up next to another member of there tunnel and aimed his AK-47 the same way and waited for a target, He was ready.

(forgive my noobness. I'm new and have never played Metro 2033 >.<)

Soon the others and I were lined up, each with our weapons aimed at the large opening. I looked down at the ammo in my magazine, loaded my rifle and joined the others in the fearsome line of fire that we had made. We waited for something to appear for five minutes…ten minutes…thirty…an hour and yet there was still nothing, I was becoming tiered, furious and hoping this wasn’t just another drill. Then, as what ever it was was reading my mind, I heard the sound of something coming towards us from the darkness of the tunnels. No…more than something, we all seemed to hear a large group of beings, mutants probably, coming fast. Everyone seemed to tense up as whatever it was came closer, the man next to me even started mumbling and cursing to himself. I wondered what he was doing when the smell hit me, I looked up just in time to see the first shadow appear…

Ugh... Alex thought. Feeling lightheaded.... he mumbled to himself as the man next to him dropped, unconcious. He checked his AK once more and found he has forgoten to load the clip..... No thats not right I loaded it I remember.... Something isnt right here he thought. He loaded another clip; cocked it and looked up an inch only to realize he was spraying rounds out the barrel on full auto... Click.... Empty....

[OOC] Information on Metro

Another thing you may want to know: What might we encounter in the post apocalyptic metro system? Well here is the answer in the form of some of the enemies thus far.

Dark Ones;

Dark Ones are the next step in evolution (Homo Novus). The player rarely encounters them during the game as they are essentially the hardest enemy in the game. However, this is only due to their telepathic abilities, as the only time Artyom shoots at one (at the top of the tower, during the end of the vision), they only take 6 pistol rounds. The Dark Ones are created when Metro residents are kidnapped and taken to the Dark Ones hidden lairs. The Dark Ones seem to be able to exert some telepathic control over the other mutants. The direct appearance of a Dark One is quite strange. They have long arms and legs, all quite thin. The arms ends with rather large hands that have long fingers. The skin color, just like many other mutants are a dark, grey color.

Nosalis;

A Nosalis, nosalises in plural, is a large pig/mole-like humanoid creature that lives in the metro tunnels. Nosalises are some of the easiest and most common enemies in the RP, about three rounds from the Automatic Shotgun, or a single, well placed headshot from the revolver takes them down. Just like the Lurkers, the nosalises are fast creatures, which can outman you and surround you very quickly by jumping or climbing walls.

Lurkers;

The Lurker is assumed to be a mutated dog or rat. They are very fast and tend to jump up from holes in the ground and launch themselves at Artyom, dealing moderate damage to him. They very often show up in packs of three to five at a time. Assumed to be mutated dogs or cats, they are probably scavengers and eat dead pigs, mutants and humans. They are very agile and jump up from holes in the ground rather fast. They have almost pink skin and no bodily hair whatsoever.

Demon;

The Demon is a dragon-like mutant. It is difficult to say what the Demon derived from, as it has a third pair of appendages. But, it could be a severely mutated rat, bat or some other vermin. It’s body isn't very big but it has two huge wings, spanning a width of maybe three to four meters wide. The demon usually flies around, high up where you can't get to it, before it flies down and picks you up and usually drops you down from a height that kills you. Although it's not a very big being, it will take quite a few shots from the shotgun to kill it, and even more from a Kalash. Fighting it in an open space will most likely lead to your death.

Automatic-Shotgun;

The Automatic-Shotgun, also known as the Uboyneg, is a shotgun made after the nuclear devastation. It is a powerful weapon for close-quarter combat, and though it lacks the vicious alpha strike damage of the Double-Barreled Shotgun, it has considerably better sustainability and is infinitely more reliable when faced with enemy aggression, be it a pack of rampaging Nosalises or a single angry Nazi. It is one of the "signature" weapons of the world, featured prominently throughout the RP. It is also one of the most reliably effective guns, being effective against virtually any opponent once you're in-close; sadly, like most shotguns, it has the critical failing of an extremely sluggish reload rate.
On the plus side, the Uboyneg can hold up to six shells and, as the name suggests, needs no reload between shots. The Loading-system is based off that of a revolver, although it is not double-actioned, but Gas operated, and thus, whenever all bullets are discharged from the magazine, you need to load one shell at a time, and then load it into the chamber, before you put in other shells.

The Bastard;

The Bastard is a scratch-built submachine gun, designed and built in the Armory for the express purpose of providing automatic firepower in the absence of military-grade rifles like the Kalash AK-74 and Kalash 2012. It is the first automatic weapon most people will receive on our adventure, and is surprisingly ubiquitous and effective in spite of the gun having considerable shortcomings.
In general, the other automatic weapons in the game are more effective and useful; The VSV, Kalash AK-47, and Kalash 2012 all are more powerful per-shot and more accurate, generally making them more effective in a given situation, though the Bastard can do more damage than the VSV or Kalash with a full magazine up-close and personal (not counting use of MGBs, obviously).

Double Barreled Shotgun;

The double-barreled shotgun has two barrels with one shotgun shell in each. The advantage of this
is that you can fire both shells at the same time, dealing a great deal of damage to your enemy.

Grenade;

A grenade is a hand-thrown weapon that detonates after a few seconds. Here, they resemble "pipe bombs", which are make-shift home made explosives. Grenades are extremely useful and can kill most enemies in one blow, depending on where the grenade detonates. You can carry up to five at a time.

Kalash;

The Kalash is an automatic assault rifle. It is modelled after the AK-74M and is short for Avtomat Kalashnikova. The other type of Kalash looks like a modified, Bullpup P90 sub-machine gun and is called Kalash 2012. It is a weapon best used for human opponents, Nosalises and Lurkers, yet a shotgun is still preferable against most mutant enemies. It is seen with a woodland camouflage. It is used by many of your human opponents, most notably the Nazis, who sport the standard version.

Revolver;

The revolver is the standard side-arm that most people might uses throughout the RP.
It has six shots in the cylinder and deals high damage.

Thar;

The Thar is a pneumatic sniper rifle. It must be pumped periodically to maintain it's damage. The Thar has fifteen rounds in the magazine, and can fire quite rapidly by pressing the fire button fast. Sadly, there is a downside with this fine weapon: it loses pressure extremely fast. But, in general, the damage of the weapon when fully pumped is good. It can take down a Nosalis or a Lurker with five quick shots as long as you fire at the upper body or head.

VSV;

The VSV is a silenced sub-machine gun with 20 rounds in its magazine.
It is effective to use against human opponents and it deals moderate damage. It strongly resembles a Russian VSK-94 sniper rifle. This is inaccurate, since it fires a rifle cartridge, and also has more sniper-like characteristics. This weapon, along with all other weapons with laser aiming devices, has no hip-fire inaccuracy and will always hit where the laser is pointing. Inaccuracy is only caused by recoil.

[OOC] The Metro

Metro 2033 takes place mostly in the metro system of Moscow. At points during the this role-play, we will be forced to leave the dark metro system to occasionally scavenge for supplies and ammo above ground. The role-play provides a wide variety of enemies - including human renegades and giant mutated rat-demons to just name a few. Weapons in mainly consist of makeshift and crude weapons. Ammo is limited and difficult to come across, so players are forced to be conservative with their ammo. The game has two different types of bullets - dirty rounds, which are bullets made in the metro, and military ("pre-blast") rounds, which are the currency. Military rounds are stronger and do more damage. Ammunition is a key element, and will require the player to make smart decisions as to when, where, and how they use their ammo. Anyone who wants to join is expected to actually post, not just make a character.
