PLOT
What if there was another world, one of creatures only the greatest minds in history could have imagined? What if that world was your world, and you just couldn't see it? All around us there are creatures, demons that use glamoures, disguises, to shrowd their exsistance from our eyes. Only a chosen few, and few there are, have the sight, an ability to see these creatures and their hidings. And with these destructive beings we must have protectors, if you want to call them that. Shadowhunters; people devoted to protecting the world by killing harmful demons who have escaped from the walls of hell. Their bodies are decorated with markings from their steles, that bid them help in their battles and healing experiences. In the past, a group of these Shadowhunters formed, calling themselves The Circle, and was led by an evil Shadowhunter. They wanted to destroy all the downworlders, creatures such as vampires and werewolves, and enlight the world with the existance of this 'other world'
But it went wrong, and The Circle members were killed, or cursed, and the evil fell. But along with them fell the mortal cup. Nobody knows where it has gone, if anyone has it. And recently the leader of The Circle, a man by the name of Valentine, is said to be alive, and he is searching for the Mortal Cup, one of the three Mortal Instruments that can turn any normal person into a Shadowhunter. We must stop him, before its too late.
BASIC INFO
Shadowhunters- said above in the plot. A stele is a weapon they carry that they can use to unlock doors, set themselves invisible behind something, etc. It also serves as something they use to mark themselves, heal their wounds and aid them in battle; these marks are silver, threadlike designes usually in runes.
Downworlders- any mythical creature you can think of, really, other than mummies, as said in the books. fey, vampires, etc. they aren't exterminated as demons are, but if they cross the rules, such as kill a mundane, they will be sentanced to death.
Mundanes- normal people, those who are unaware of the other creatures and places around them.
The Institute- the Shadowhunter base in Brookland, this is where the Shadowhunters of our story stay. most of the used rooms are the library, the kitchen, the greenhouse, and the bedrooms.
The Silent brothers- Shadowhunters who have the uncanny ability to be extremely silent, even using telepathy to talk to their aquaintences. they are monotone in this sense of speaking. they are bald and scarred by their steles, which more people say they scar themselves on purpose. most Shadowhunters fear them for their appearance, and their ability to get inside your head.
CHARACTERS YOU NEED TO KNOW
Valentine- the mastermind behind The Circle. he is an ex.shadowhunter who grew up with most of the wellknown Shadowhunters of the day. he was said to be killed in a fire that destroyed his wife and relatives, though it has become clear that he is not dead.
Hodge- the instructor and head of The Institute. he also happens to be an undercover worder for Valentine, and wants the cup so he can give it to him and lift the curse that has been placed on him. because of the curse he cannot under any surcumstance leave the Institute. he is very close to the Shadowhunters, almost a father to them, and you will mostly find him in the library.
Magnus B - Possibly the most powerful warlock in Brookland, maybe the world. he doesn't exactly like shadowhunters nor the downworlders who cause him problems. it is a known fact that he isn't exactly fully straight.

EXAMPLE OF BAD POSTING:
Lyra moved across the room and sat down to listen to the conversation, all the while staring at the food on the table hungrily.
Why is this a bad post? Sure, it's long, but its only one sentence. Give me three of these and I'm happy.
EXAMPLE OF ON-THE-BORDER POSTING:
Lyra moved across the room. She sat down and stared at the food on the table. While she stared she licked her lips quietly.
Why is this on-the-border posting? Ok, three sentences, but short and not descriptive at that. This is not what I'm looking for, I know you can do better, but if you're having a day it's alright. But if all your posts are like this, go get some writing lessons or something [ah sorry for being rude >.>]
EXAMPLE OF GOOD POSTING:
Lyra moved across the room to get a better view of the group, all the while staring at the foot on the table. She licked her lips quietly, taking in the fragrance of the food instead of the conversation. Every once in a while she would zone back into what the others spoke of, but hunger at this point was her first priority.
enough said.

OOC Notes
The line at the entrance is exceptionally long, Tally thought with a groan, rubbing her temples. It was cold where she stood waiting for her turn to be inspected and admitted. As always the people were dressed up in all different sorts of fashions; emo, goth, punk, or overcolorful. Two girls infront of her had clothes that seemed to already glow despite the fact that they weren't even close to the black lights. She wanted to groan again as they chattered and laughed with obnoxiously high and squeaky voices.
One of the reasons- scratch that, the only reason she was allowed to be there was because Greg was out tonight on one of his monthly outings. She'd given up on persuading him to led her go and instead just snuck out after he left. All the while she'd been on edge, thinking he was suddenly going to jump out and scare the shit out of her. Tally took a step forward in line. Only three more people to go and she was in.
Part of her hoped someone from her school would be here. Her friend Makena from school had bailed on her at the last second, making up a lame excuse that she had to babysit, when Tally had already guessed she was going to the movies to make out with her boyfriend. She looked up as the girls before her stepped through the door and into the flashing lights. The man gave her one look and allowed her to go through.
As soon as she entered the blonde felt utterly alone. Dressed in shorts and a hoodie, she stood out from the rest of the colorful crowd. Tally ducked through the low entrance and walked along the wall, fingertips tracing along it, looking for someone who she recognized. Several of the guys were giving her glances as she stumbled by, but too preoccupied with her task, she didn't notice.
The music was outdated, of course, and still the crowd was jumping and laughing like drunk fools- they probably were. Tally found herself alone in one of the corners, looking around uncertainly. She pulled out her phone and dialed Makena's number, waited for her to pick up, but was only rewarded with the unsatisfying and obnoxious voicemail. With a sigh she took a drink of water and moved towards the crowd, hoping for something to distract herself.

“What’s your name?!” the guy yelled, over the thump of the music, “Katie!” she replied twirling around, “Adam,” he replied, she just nodded and scanned the crowd around her for the second time that night. Still no sign of who they were looking for, ‘Damn..’ she muttered. When she turned back to face Adam she saw it, lurking on the outside of the crowd of people, he appeared to be scanning the crowd, looking for a victim most likely. A smile slid across her face and she separated from Adam, he roughly grabbed her arm and pulled her back to him, “I’m not done with you yet,” he said pulling her back into the crowd. Kate quickly turned to face him, “Excuse me? I believe you are.” Gripping his hand she pulled it off her with more strength than a girl her size should have had, she took a step towards him and put a finger in his face, “Touch me again and I will make you regret it,” she smirked and left.
Walking out of the crowd she passed a chick who was not dressed for the club, who wears shorts and a sweat shirt anyway? Kate laughed, she headed toward the table where she had last seen Ethan, pulling out a chair she plopped down and smiled, “I found it, other side of the room, with neon blue hair,” she reached across the table and took his drink, not even asking she took a long sip of it. "Where is Mandy? Dancing with some guy?" she asked.
OOC Notes
Kate was off in the crowd dancing and scoping out the people in it. She had a eye for spotting demons, even with glamour. A group of girls walked past his table, giggling the whole way and throwing glances in his direction, Ethan just winked and smiled.
"I found it, other side of the room, neon blue hair" Kate sat down across from him. Ethan just nodded as she took his drink, "I was going to finish that..." he muttered. Kate didn't seem to care, she was adjusting her attire. "Where are your weapons?" he asked looked at her skirt, which showed off her long legs. Kate was pretty he'd give her that but Mandy had her beat. He looked threw the crowd for the female Shadowhunter, "Let's find her and take care of him," he said standing up.
OOC Notes
Alright, so she was a little late to join the party, but Mandy was always such as this. Being fashionably late was her extreme talent, after all. As soon as she walked into the club she put up a glamour to hide her appearance from the demon they were after. She appeared as she usually did, just without her dagger and stele noticable, and her markings invisible to any who glanced by. The club air was thick with the salty smell of sweat and she couldn't help but wrinkle her nose in disgust.
As she weaved her way through the crowd several boys, noticing her only because of her glamour and not because of the sight, attempted to stop her. Mandy pushed past them and as she did traced her fingertips across their cheeks, drawing them closer but also pushing them away lightly. Though she only walked around once she spotted the demon immediatly; the neon hair was a total give away. Now to find the others.
She found them sitting at a table, drinking beverages and talking nonchalontly. The shadowhunter sat down and snapped off her glamour so nobody but they, and the demon, could see her. "So you've notice him already? Blue hair, almost red eyes, and an exceptionally sly smirk. He might take some energy to take out..." Mandy yawned lightly before stealing one of their drinks and politely taking a sip. "Who wants him, or are we going to interogate him first?"
On the other side of the club Tally looked exceptionally bored. She tapped her toes, converse feeling odd when all others were wearing either highheels or tight boots. Carefully she made her way to leave, but as she twisted around a group of people ran straight into a boy with blue hair. He looked shocked, maybe a little taken aback, but was staring at her in an unnerving way. "I, uh, sorry, I didn't see you there," she confessed, biting her lip.
"...Your fine, don't worry about it. You, uh, leaving?" His stunned expression soon turned smooth and impassive so she couldn't exactly tell if he was interested or not. For several minutes they shared a nice chat together; oddly enough he even managed to make her laugh a little. They had only a few things in common, which was clear by their difference in attires, but their opposite levels seemed to match correctly. That was, at least, until he began pulling her towards the back of the building.
"You'll see," he replied after she continued to prod him with questions about where they were going. Tally was growing uneasy at this point, a little worried that he had just put on this nice act to take the better of her. The idea of walking into a storage closet with him wasn't welcoming either. He opened the door for her politely and waved his hand for her to enter, but she just chewed on her lip once more.
With a shake of her head she took a step back. "I'm clausterphobic," she lied; part of her knew he could see through her bluff. Tally was about to lengthen the space between them when out of the blue he grabbed her. One hand clamped tightly over her mouth, the other around her waist to latch her arms to her sides. Without much effort he dragged her into the closet and slammed the door shut.
Inside wasn't much, just some pipes and work supplies for cleanup after the drunks and potheads left the club. She struggled under his iron grip, too shocked to even comprehend trying to scream. He pushed her up to one of the walls, her back facing him and her cheek pressed to the surface. Tally bit back the tears that stung her eyes and focused on trying to break away, but the jumbled words he was talking didn't exactly help her concentrate.

Tally looked terrified, and when the door busted open she sensed more danger coming. Her amber gaze fell to the boy standing in the doorway, fear painted on her freckled face. "Help," she managed, the tears stinging at her eyes once more. The demon's grip on her mouth tightened and though the knife was at his neck, he didn't exactly look alarmed. Actually, his only reaction was a lick of his lips and a dark, almost seductive chuckle.
"Or you'll do what?" he asked. "You stab me, I kill her. Simple as that."

Tally didn't exactly notice Kate's comment, too swallowed in fear to really care about anything but getting help. Though she wasn't thinking about it at the moment, her subconscious mind was running over the question of why they had weapons. Usually people didn't just carry around some sword. The other thing her mind was trying to process was why they were all exceptionally beautiful people, all stunning compared to any other teenagers she'd ever met. She flinched at the feeling of him messing with her shorts; it only made her tear up a little more, and so far she was surprised she could actually hold the tears in for this long.
To the left of Kate, Mandy stood, hands on her hips and a frown upon her lips. Her eyes were on the demon's hand at the girl's beltloop. "Get your grubby hand away from there," she hissed. Usually it wouldn't have bothered her to see something like this, a demon trying to, so to speak, take advantage of a human girl. But for some reason, maybe the thought that this girl could see them, made her a little protective over the situation.
The demon grinned, licking his lips again as he spotted Mandy in her excelence. "So all I gotta do is get rid of the guy and I get three beauties. Wonderful."
OOC Notes
His eyes went back to the girl; she was the biggest problem, making sure she didn't get harmed, he had an idea, but he would need to girl to help and not be all stupid mundie. "I'm sure Katie and Mandy would love to spend time with you. Being like you and all... but what does scum like you want with a cute Mundie like her?" Ethan asked pulling his knife back, Kate sent him a look and he nodded. "Are you inadequate to get some of your own kind?" he asked smiling.
OOC Notes
"Oh?" the Demon answered, eyes on Ethan as he responded; he failed to catch the flash in Mandy's eyes. At Ethan's question he let out once more that deep but seductive laugh. "Maybe I knew you'd be here to fetch me and I took precautions. Or maybe I just wanted a little fun with someone who couldn't fight back. And look what I found; some little mundane who can actually see me. That makes it all the better, you know. By the way-- OW!" He was cut off as the girl in his grasp dug her teeth into his palm, putting as much force into the bite as humanly possible.
Without reluctance he pushed her away from him and towards Ethan, then took an offensive stance, ready to pounce on Kate.

Tally looked over at Ethan, not needing to be told twice. She tore into a run around the group and out of the closet. Those in the club let out shouts of anger as she burst through them without a second thought, aiming for the door. Once outside she didn't stop, instead continued to run on towards the park. Right now being home would only make her break down, so maybe being in an open area would let her gather her thoughts without her emotions messing with her head.

Mandy watched the battle with her guard up but her weapon lowered, knowing the demon was beat from the start. As he spoke she felt the hair on her arms and neck stand on end. "Valentine is dead," she replied coldly. "And forever will be. If he does come back someone can send him to hell for all I care." Though she spoke to the demon, her gaze was on the door, as if waiting for the girl to return. Curiosity was clouding her thoughts; how could a mundane see them? Unless she wasn't a mundane at all... Part of Mandy felt like the girl wasn't entirely mundie, like in her blood she was something else. But for now, they'd just have to wait.
In the park, Tally breathlessly sat on the rock of the fountain, running her fingers through her blonde hair. What had just happened? Had she almost been raped? But that wasn't the thing that took her the most energy to understand. Who were those people, and why did they save her? And more importantly, what was that thing?

Across the street in the park Tally stood. She let out a shakey breath before turning and heading home, a blank look on her face. She convinced herself she was seeing things, because ever since that boy kicked down the door odd creatures had been appearing everywhere. As she moved down the trail through the woods towards her home her fingertips lightly trailed under her hoodie to her shoulder-blade. She could feel deep scratchmarks along the bone; part of her was convinced that the sticky liquid on her tank-top was not water that had splashed from the fountain in the park.

Outside of the institude, glamour off so the mundies couldn't see her, Mandy stood, eyes scanning through the darkness for her comrads. Hodge was waiting for their arrival impatiently; he wanted to meet this girl, though at the same time was angry that she had gotten mixed up in the demon situation. The blonde rubbed her eyes, sighing, impatient as well.
