Death Says Aloha to Alohi

Main StreetSetting: Main Street

Alohi Kalua lay bedridden, a blackened arm lying over her eyes. Fifty-nine days had come and gone, but she'd found none of the compassion or healing she'd been hoping for. That old man had lied, most certainly. Even as her beauty was waning to the grasp of the curse, no more of this magic would come to her. Her control was shaky, barely worth mentioning, despite the help of her teacher. "If I could just leave this bed...If I could find someone useful, it wouldn't be too late..." she mumbled to herself in aggravation. Her life was measured in hours now. And those were fading much too quickly.
Casren Bistreo had been called here, on the doorstep of this place, by a dream one could say. Casren had a knack for smelling fresh death, and the scent was in the air tonight. Vivid imagery of freshly slaughtered bodies and mangled corpses swam in his subconscious, the means for the smirk which sat upon his lips.
Should he knock? Not even he was sure, but even so he raised a fist.
Knock-knockady-Knock-a-knock-Knock
Oh how he hoped someone would answer the door.
Alohi Kalua frowned at the sudden noise. Visitors...? She had been the only one in this small house for weeks now...Her mentor had gone off on some journey. This couldn't be another student, now, could it? "Doji isn't here!" she yelled, hoping the open window would carry her words to the front door.
Yes, there was someone alive inside. He took the liberty of snapping the knob and force-toeing the door open. He had no idea who Doji was, but he could smell his next meal.
Alohi Kalua 's frown only deepened as the door opened and she shrank into her covers, hiding the black, rotting taint that crept up her right side and over her face. "Hey! Don't just barge in! I said that Doji isn't here, so get out. You're not invited in," she stated, glancing around herself. Of course, there wasn't much in way of protection...but she could always light whoever it was on fire as a warning.
He halted on the doorstep. Not invited in. This could prove a problem.

"I come offering gifts," Casren called in to her, his voice fluid and chocolatey.
Alohi Kalua began to squirm, urging her rotting flesh to hide beneath the covers. No one could see her like this. Her beauty was almost nonexistant, her skin was charred and disgusting...No. No one would see her in this state upon her life. "Gifts? Leave them at the door, then! I'll get them later. She strained to lean over the bed to see who it was...that voice was enticing...but no luck. Still out of sight.
"I can't just," He sighed, "Leave them at the door!"
Alohi Kalua threw up her good arm in irritation. Why wouldn't he leave?! "Then come in, put them in the fridge or wherever, and go!" she cried out.
Grinning, he stepped through the door. Quick as lightning he closed it behind him, looking around for the source of the voice. Was it that blanket lump over there?

""Or Whatever,'" He said slowly, walking towards the lump, "Would be my plea-" He froze, "Can you hear me?"
Alohi Kalua frowned, pulling the cover back just enough to glare with her one good eye. "Of course, but apparently you cannot hear me. Leave your gifts and go! Don't come near me!" she called out, beginning to panic. Any closer and this person would see the death sunk into her skin.
This was getting him nowhere. There was something peculiar about his dinner, could it be that although alive she reeked of death?

"Madam, please, I mean you no harm," For curiosity had surpassed hunger.
Alohi Kalua raised her visible brow and looked him over. "You're obviously a liar, since you have no gifts. I don't really think I have much of a reason to trust you..." she mumbled angrily, sinking back into the pillow.
He could not help but smile at that and shake his head. A liar he was not. No.

"I am not a liar," And really, he wasn't. Was not! He would prove it.

"Why do you hide?"
Alohi Kalua began to give off an aura of a trapped and injured animal. Her glare intensified and she scrunched back into herself as much as possible. "That is none of your business. If I want to hide, I can...I'm cursed. I have the right to hide it," she retorted defensively.
"Cursed?" Oh really? Was she?
"I am too, although you might never realize," He said with a wink, and glanced around the room. What was that new and delicious smell? Was that fear?

"Fear me not, I come bearing gifts remember?"
Alohi Kalua lifted her chin a little higher, the black edges barely visible from behind the sheet. "Gifts that I fail to see. Who sent you here? Was it Doji?" she questioned uncertainly. His presence was a bit disarming...she was used to being in that position. She wanted to raise herself up and glare him right out the door...if only her legs still worked.
Every time she moved, death wafted through the air and up his nose. Delicious. He smiled some more, and looked her in the eye.

"Have you ever heard of vampires?"
Alohi Kalua tilted her head and scoffed. "Of course...I've heard of everything in this city...Why?" Her defensive instincts were triggering. Her eye wandered about again...maybe if she had the strength, she could wield the lamp from her position...
Why? This time he was visibly frustrated, shifting his stance and huffing. Why?! Was she serious?

"Because I am one!" He threw his arms out sideways, and slapped on a grin.
Alohi Kalua through off her cover, at the same time he yelled, yanking the lamp off the bedstand with her good arm. She pulled it back and barely supported it with the decaying arm, holding it back like a baseball bat. "Get out right now! I'm not a blood bank!"
Casren Bistreo cringed, and recoiled. Although it wouldn't hurt much, getting hit with flying lamps was not on his agenda! Peeking through his fingers which fanned to shield his head, he saw the source of the smell.
She was half dead. How peculiar and intriguing.
"You know, I could fix that," He offered, gesturing gently towards her...mangled side.
Alohi Kalua scowled, the decayed half of her face in a constant frown. "Fix? There's no fixing. I'm almost out of time anyway. Just leave me to die in peace, got it?!" she questioned, gesturing with the lamp angrily again. "You'll suck me dry...You just want me to lower my guard." Always the stubborn one...
"Please, madam, you have barely any blood to give," He suppressed a laugh.
"You say you are almost out of time? How would you like to last forever?" Casren's smile turned wicked, and his eyes flashed. From his pocket he slipped a cellphone, it had to be a Nokia from the early 2000's, and rapidly started texting.
Alohi Kalua relaxed herself slightly, almost dropping the lamp. "Forever...? Sounds too good to be true...but I don't think I want to be an invalid forever. You can fix that...?" She was letting a little bit of hope sink into her tone...To make up for that, she lifted her chin a little higher, wearing it with pride.
"Forever," he said pressing send, looking up from his phone.

"Externally, yes, you will be mended. I am unsure of what...exactly will happen but! Your skin should grow back."
Alohi Kalua scoffed, losing the strength to hold up the lamp any longer and letting it hit the bed with a soft thump. "If you're lying, I'll find some way to get back at you. Even if I'm dead..." she threatened quietly, almost subdued. This might be her last hope...
In the middle of meeting with one of Wing City's most prominent gang leaders, he had just finalized a deal on a various amount of...highly illegal arms when suddenly his phone got a text. Glancing at it, for no more than a second, he was about to dismiss it when he realized something. A servant would be helpful. And one of his own kind would be far more useful than some pathetic human. And...he was always hungry. Maybe he should take the annoyance up on his offer. After handing over the cash, he proceeded on his way, rapidly, following the directions on the phone. This might turn out to be annoying...but had the chance to be useful. He would be there soon.
"Hardly," He smiled, and looked towards the door. Any second now fellow Blood would be walking through that door.
Alohi Kalua followed the man's gaze with curiosity. What exactly was he just waiting for...? Her time was ticking away...Faster and faster.
Kaiser Zaun knocked. Of course he knocked, he was above impoliteness. Maybe this...thing he was about to turn wouldn't be, maybe they didn't deserve his gift, but he knew that they would serve him. And thats all he needed from anyone or anything. He let himself in no more than a second after knocking for the third time and suddenly...he wanted to hit Casren. "You want me to turn...that?!"
He smiled stiffly, and blinked. Did he just say that?

"Half Dead Woman, please, meet Extremely Blunt Vampire," Casren said, flicking his wrist and waving towards Kaiser.
Alohi Kalua attempted to raise the lamp again, her eyes burning with indignation. "Don't just let yourself in! I didn't ask for anyone else for this..." she practically growled. More people...seeing her in this state. Charred, destroyed. All her former beauty gone... "I don't want him here. Why did you call him?!" she yelled with waning pride. No. She wouldn't lose everything.
"Because he is going to be your Sire!" Casren's words were excited, as if he were announcing that she won a new car. Really, now!
Alohi Kalua began motioning with the lamp again, barely grasped as it was. "No. I won't be 'sired' by someone...like him," she spat. "I won't lower myself to that. He's not worthy to even think of touching me..." Another glare and angered gesture.
He frowned a little, but was not put off entirely.

"Surely you are not one to turn down such a gift on the terms of who it comes from?" He was shocked that even in her condition she wouldn't accept help from a... well, a prick.
Alohi Kalua lifted her chin and scowled like a princess eyeing a stain. "What's wrong with you? Can't you 'sire' me? Or are you some sort of sterile vampire?" she questioned rudely. Someone had been rude to her...and she fought fire with fire.
"Spunky!" He smiled on her.
"In truth I can, and if you would prefer it I will, however I think it would be a far more," He glanced back towards Kaiser, "Beneficial experience for him to pass on to you his gift. But!" He clasped his hands together.
Kaiser Zaun spat on the floor with a growl. "Don't you dare every speak down to our kind. We are superior to your weak little race in every damn way!" He smashed her lamp off the table. "I'll do it! Under the condition that she belongs to me. She'll be a member of the Blood, yes, but just like Daemala owns that bastardized children's clown, she will belong to me? Understood?" He gave Casren a glare, a hungry glare, a look that let him know he wouldn't forgive him for this. His gift was his own! How dare he!
Alohi Kalua flinched back and scrambled back. "I belong to no one!" she yelled in protest. "No one!" She snapped her fingers, igniting a small flame. Small...barely seeming to be a threat. "I knew this was a trick..."
He stood, silent for a moment. Well...

"In return for 'life' you will help him, and in return for help you will give her 'life'. I fail to see the problem."
Growled at the flame, a fire of his own coming to his frenzied eyes. "She knows magic of some kind. That is more than enough of a reason for me to sire her. Besides, my office gets boring!" He licked his lips, his fangs beginning to extend. "One way or another Casren, even if she protest, I'm going to turn her. I don't see why we have to abide by those rules, my own turning wasn't voluntary and I've loved every minute of my life since then!"
Alohi Kalua scoffed. "My life is my own...I'd rather die this way than sell myself to some...trash like him," she stated, almost a hiss. She held the flame in front of herself protectively. "No..." she muttered. "No!"
Casren placed a palm to his face. Was this really happening like this?

"Kaiser, calm yourself," He growled in return, taking a slight step towards the lady.
"Ma'am, it isn't what it seems."
Kaiser Zaun took a moment to take a calming, deep breath. "I...apologize Casren. My urge to turn her grows less and less with each word she says though. She is constantly insulting me and our kind. That doesn't make me want to turn her, it makes me want to...silence her." He felt his gloves tear through his clinched fist, tsking loudly.
Alohi Kalua shook her head and scowled, using what strength she had left in her good leg to scoot her back 'til she was against the wall. "Seems? It seems like I've been sold..." she growled, the flame slowly flickering. No... "Stay away from me, both of you." And then it was out. She didn't have any energy left...and she was still losing time. "I don't want your help anymore."
He raised a brow, surely the woman did not mean this. He took a step towards her, and kneeled.

"I promise no harm will come your way at his hand," He said, glancing towards Kaiser, "It would be against the rules, you see."
Kaiser Zaun scoffed, crossing his arms. Damn the rules, if he could find a way without making it obviously, he intended to make this hurt for her, as much as possible. He had no idea how his strand or variation of the gift would affect her however. He did know that the mortality rate of a Frenzy was...more than high.
Alohi Kalua frowned slightly...but she'd lost almost all of her ability to move. She could feel death sinking into her bones...decaying what was left of her beauty...There was a soft sigh of resignation. She had no choices left. "Fine...Do what you will..." She'd given up her pride, all she had managed to keep was gone now...She'd truly sold her soul.
"Kaiser," He addressed him as soon as she had finished speaking. It was time. He spoke to them both, now.

"The process of being turned can be simple, and nearly painless. Kaiser must drain you of most of your blood, and in turn you must drink some of his." From his pocket he pulled a small box cutter knife, and held it out to the woman. He handled it carefully, for it was sharp enough to cut even him.

"Cut him with your last breath, if you will, preferably on the wrist."
Alohi Kalua grasped the small knife weakly in her good hand. She took in the information and scowled...With this sort of process...she could easily just be left to die anyways. But maybe the effort was worth it at least. She was trying to live, instead of sitting by and wasting away. "I understand..." she mumbled quietly, lolling her head to expose the side of her neck that wasn't decaying.
Kaiser Zaun knelt across the bed. He swore if he tasted bad flesh, he was going to 'accidentally' rip her throat out. He opened his mouth wide and slowly sank his fangs into her neck, drinking deeply, all the while tilting her head back with one hand while exposing his wrist on the other, placing it against the nice as hard as he could without it knicking him. Her blood...wasn't bad.
"And please don't kill her," He said, watching tentatively.
Alohi Kalua winced at the bite, her vision beginning to fade slowly. Was this what it was like to die...? Not so bad, really. Nice and gradual, no real intense pain. It was all too fuzzy to hurt so much...As the last of her life was ebbing from her, she almost forgot her part. She pressed with what little strength she had left to cut his wrist. And now her life was in his hands...as much as she loathed that fact.
After nary a few seconds, he slowly withdrew his fangs with a sickening slick. A frenzy's fangs were actually serrated and didn't leave clean marks like other vampires. He opened her mouth very gently and let his blood dribble into her mouth, almost purring. She was going to be his, whether Casren liked it or not.
Casren Bistreo exhaled, relieved to see that Kaiser didn't kill her.
Alohi Kalua let out a small gasp with her last breath...swallowing by instinct as the blood passed into her throat. Her body began to twitch and convulse. This...this was pain. Not the dying, the living...but it was a bit too late to learn that now. The charred, damaged skin covering half her body began to shed, new skin growing almost instantaneously. She let out a small cry of pain, such a weakness she despised...She continued to shake as her body began to repair itself...her previously tantalizing beauty restored with her life. A deep breath. She'd never be the same.
Kaiser Zaun smirked widely as he saw the pain rip across her features. He got what he hoped for. With the last bit of his blood to pass through her lips, he did his best, with what little arcane knowledge he had, to infuse a charm into the sanguine liquid. Not total mind control but a sense of loyalty. He could old hope it worked, magic was not his forte'. "There. Its done. Welcome to the better side of life."
Casren Bistreo had not realized that vampyrism would be so effective, but was glad that it was. With a small nod towards Kaiser, he turned on his heel and prepared to leave.
Alohi Kalua pushed Kaiser back, wiping her mouth with the back of her arm. "Thank you, I suppose..." she mumbled quietly. But she wasn't really paying attention to them. Her arms...both a sleek tanned color, not a mark. She reached up to her hair, back to it's healthy dark waves. She was beautiful again. The envy of her island. It was a vain smile that lit her lips. "Yes, thank you..."
Kaiser Zaun tsk'd. It probably hadn't worked. He would see though, as time went on. "I think, maybe, that this was a triumph. Perhaps I could stay here for a bit. Now that she isn't charred or human, I can almost tolerate her existence." He rolled his wrist, licking the rest of his trickling blood away from his wrist. Damn that smarted.
