Description

With a dark head of wavy hair that always seems about two weeks overdue for a trim and a matching patch of scruff across his jawline, Aden strikes most as a lackadaisical man nearing the end of his youth.

On the contrary, or perhaps a closer inspection, well muscled arms and legs tell of years of physical labor and hard work. His mouth is deep set with lines of laughter, and kind blue eyes -similar to the color of the pale ocean under the bright sun- tell of a kind soul.

Personality

Despite every effort at kindness and chivalry, Aden remains solitary and soft spoken. If the situation calls for it, his voice can be found, but ordinarily he keeps to himself.

Most know him to be a diligent worker who keeps in good health. His co-workers regard him as loyal, accountable and upstanding. However, he can never much be counted on when a crowd is involved. Women often consider him flakey or uninterested due to his lack of enthusiasm or persistence, leaving him more often than not a single man.

Equipment

To keep up with his multiple employments, a knapsack of sorts is always slung over Aden's shoulder or kept near his person. It holds a fresh change of clothing, a small amount of money, and a photograph.

A cheaply bought pack of cigarettes fill his back pocket when working the docks, to help him appear as toughened by life by the other ship and dock workers than to pacify any nicotine habits of his own.

History

Aden comes from a patchwork-quilt sort of family whose stitching has fallen loose over the years. His mother and father, both originally from New York, moved to New Jersey where they raised their son, conceived from illicit activity. Without a marriage to bind him, Aden's father had left just shy of his tenth birthday never to be seen again.

While he always felt protective and responsible for his mother, her affections were always held by men with whom Aden could never compete. And so, at the age of fifteen he abandoned schooling and made his way to New York city with his friend Mick. For years they held odd jobs and apartments together, until Mick was killed in a gang related incident.

Ever since, Aden has led a life in solo. His friends are his co-workers, and only friends while on the job. He works early mornings at the docks loading and unloading vessels of their cargo, and turning an extra buck or two performing other odd jobs for captains and crew.

In the evenings several nights a week, Aden pours a mean cup of java at a mom'n'pop type coffee house called Quincey's.
