Description

A white haired and fair faced elf of dubious descent, he is quite tall and fairly fit as a wanderer of many lands. His eyes never seem to be the same color, by magic or other device, and he can be seen in a variety of clothing; most commonly however he wears old leather armor under an even older brown cloak.

Personality

A noble and kind person, who is free with what funds he has and oft to give advice when possible. Detests evil acts, but those of lesser wrongs will be let off with a warning, if they are bothered at all. Beyond that his personality is sometimes rather unpredictable, happy and jovial one moment, serious and contemplative the next.

Equipment

Bears on him many devices for day to day survival, as well as a number of flasks varying in size. He also carries a bow at all times, with one or two blades, and several knives stowed away here or there.

Al'Kaera's Story

Al'Kaera strides into the bar silently, allowing the door behind him to make only a soft click that would be drowned out by the activity in the Tavern. Instead of his usual attire, he was adorned in dark mail armor, a pike resting in a sheath on his back next to a quiver of arrows, and a bow held in the crook of his arm. A helmet sat atop his head, dark red and brown, with a wide slit allowing him to see around him, but concealing most of his features. Both bow and blade seemed to have powerful enchantments upon them, if one could tell that sort of thing.

Cold steel eyes gazed over the inhabitants of the bar, eventually settling on a likewise armed person sitting next to a coffin; a coffin which bore about it a dark aura. Cautiously, the Ranger began to make his way towards the other.

Al'Kaera eventually made his way towards the person and the source of dark energy he could feel, sifting through the crowds with a grace belying his armor. For a few brief moments he stood, studying the could-be male, before finally taking a final step to be within a logical speaking range. "Excuse me," he says in a soft, deep voice, hands resting easily at his sides.

Al'Kaera nods down to the silent person as he gets their attention, and bows his head partially. "I was wondering if I might have a word with you," he asks with a kindly tone. From somewhere else in the room he felt a brief ping of activity, but that was not his concern at the moment. The faint dark energies he was sensing immediately took priority.

Al'Kaera raises his brows at the person, rather surprised by the abruptly furious look he was receiving in response to his inquiry. "I take it I am not welcome, then?" He asks, crossing his arms over his chest. By the looks of things the person was something of an experienced fighter, if the scars were any telling point.

Al'Kaera taps the brow of his helmet, and removes his pike to rest it on the table, opposite his company, and take a seat. "Thank you," he says with a kinder gaze to the person, before clasping his hands together on the front of the table. "I wished to discuss a matter of relative importance, if you would." He gestures to the coffin tellingly.

Al'Kaera meets the gaze assuredly, waiting for a few moments. "I sense the same in you that I sense in that," he says softly, so as to limit the possibility of being overheard. "Albeit of a different strength." He moves very little in his seat as he makes his statement, blinking seldomly as he judges the person's body language and expressions.

Al'Kaera continues to wait for some sort of response, and sees that he has only succeeded in confusing the person; or at the least, they were putting on a dumb face to throw him off. "You don't talk much, do you?" He asks with a chuckle. "Perhaps you would be more comfortable if I introduced myself. I am known as Al'Kaera, Ranger and hunter," he explains, offering a hand to the person over the table.

Al'Kaera returns the firm shake with one of his own, his mail gauntleted hand clasping around that offered by the other. Taking his hand back, he leans into his chair and briefly examines other feelings he was catching from elsewhere. Again however, he did not pay it much heed, involved in his current work. Bringing a hand to his chin, he looks over the person across from him, wordlessly studying them once more.

Al'Kaera continues to look over the person, not angrily or unkind, but not particularly kind either. After a few more long minutes of study, he breaks his gaze and draws out a flask and a pair of thin wooden drinking cups. "Would you care for a drink, perhaps?" He asks, holding up the flask. "It is tea, non alcoholic, if you are interested."

Al'Kaera nods to the person, the gruff answer not very telling for gender, but showing a few other things of note. Secreting the thin cups back into their pouch, he unscrews and takes a drink from his flask without removing his helmet. A brief twinkle of his eyes shows as he seems to be in higher spirits by the drink. "Well, I got one word from you, that's a good start," he says in a kind and joking tone.

Al'Kaera continues to watch the figure before him despite his more lax attitude. "Would you happen to have an affiliation with the local guilds, if I may ask?" He inquiries, leaning forward towards the table and resting his chin on a hand as he awaits an answer.

Al'Kaera nods at this, rubbing his chin behind the helmet. "I see... I have a minor affiliation with the Hunter's Guild myself, truth be told." He may not have shown it much, but the suddenly full explanation was a bit surprising. He pauses for a few moments, allowing her a chance to speak again if she wished, or else thinking of something else.

Al'Kaera takes another quick drink from his flask before topping it and setting it back in his pouch as well. "So, what are you here for? You don't seem to be eating too terribly much; or is that my fault?" He asks, gesturing to the bread and mead she had ordered some time ago.

Al'Kaera nods again. "Ah, I see..." He rubs his chin a bit once more, then leans back again. He could certainly tell she wasn't much enjoying the conversation, or at least the direction it had taken.

Al'Kaera leans forward once more. "Well, it seems I am bothering you, my friend, so I will get to the point." He clears his throat softly, continuing in his gentle but deep tones. "You have a curious aura about you. Can you tell me why?" He tilts his head to more effectively convey his curiosity in the matter.

# Gambit's Bar, 2009-08-21 07:24:27, as written by Aderas
Al'Kaera nods a bit. "Interesting..." he says, then gestures to the coffin. "Can you tell me why that seems to have a similar feeling to it?"

# Gambit's Bar, 2009-08-21 07:29:31, as written by Aderas
Al'Kaera watches the person tense up again, then nods to himself. "Alright, too touching, I see." He smiles a bit behind his helmet. "Perhaps for another time, yes?" He stands up, stretching out a bit and grabbing his pike, still watching the person carefully.

# Gambit's Bar, 2009-08-21 07:34:01, as written by Aderas
Al'Kaera sheaths the pike into it's slot on his back, and bows his head again. "Until we meet again, nameless Darkling." With that, he turns and starts to wander through the crowds back to the door.

Al'Kaera walks his way through the ruined structure, interchangingly watching people trying to revive someone, others fighting, and a number of others around. "Hasn't changed much then," he remarks to himself.

Al'Kaera looks up at the floating man, shaking his hooded head and looking around for people ground-side. Walking deeper into the ruined ashes he keeps his bow at hand, though strafes away from the main conflict.
