Description

AL'Thok stands as a beast among men. Among his tribes he is the fiercest of berserkers, the first into battle, and many times the only to survive. The barbarian warlord stands at an impressive 6'9", and likely comes close to 300 lbs. Al'thok is different in the sense that he is extremely muscular, but not necessarily extremely tone. This is not to say that the berserker is out of shape by any means, but that he lacks the aesthetic finesse that a world-class body builder might have (but certainly not the strength one might boast). Other than his size, Al'thok boasts some other distinguishing characteristics. His long (sometimes dreadlocked) clumps of hair, which easily fall down his back in large bushels, and his massive brown beard give him no only a fierce appearance, but a wise one as well.

The barbarian has two simple tattoos on his left shoulder: a round red ring-like bullseye directly on the side of his shoulder, and slightly below it (in the area where his bicep and shoulder connect) a simple horizontal lightning bolt. Another landmark that separates him from the other barbarians is the large concrete-like braces worn about his wrists and ankles. While these braces do little to protect him (other than being capable of deflecting anything that he might brush them against), their main focus is to add more weight to each strike the barbarian throws. Connected to these braces are short broken chains (at one point, Al'Thok may have been taken prisoner by another tribe, which is a foolish endeavor).

The berserker wears nothing more than a simple loincloth, likely carved from the hide of a some sort of pack beast which is worn around his waist loosely. Al'thok also has one more defining mark upon his person--one which may not necessarily be noticed by others who are not familiar with the tribal hierarchy, but is a portent in his clan. The roman numerals for "21" (XXI) carved into his forehead. This signifies that he is the 21st son of the El'thok elder's bloodline, and thus is the marking of a prophecy.

Personality

Al'Thok is bitterly loyal to his clan, but is also known as a berserker. Berserkers many times consume a certain type of psychotrope before battle that makes them not only insane, but ruthless. Al'Thok is also very primitive, in comparison to the rest of the multiverse, he likely would not comprehend the 'pew-pew lasers' and other sort of advanced technology that they might have. When under the influence of the same psychotropic mushroom he many times consumes before battle, Al'Thok is unreasonable, and in a completely different world than our own, one might say.

While capable of primitive english speech, al'thok has learned some of the Nebuchannizzian language (which resembles farsi) and very sparse amounts of the Chang-qi language colloquially known as "zhen-zhaou" (but is closest to the common language of China). In battle, Al'thok is fierce, ruthless, and powerful. He will stop at nothing to destroy his opposition, and is the embodiment of a true berserker.

Equipment

Nebuchanizzian Spear: The spear is just about 2 meters long, with a half-foot long thin (yet strong, as was the Nebuchanizzian standard, thin to pierce through armor but strong enough to do so as well) blade. This weapon also had at the base of the blade a hook that swoops backwards, which could be used to sweep an enemy, catch something or other many practical uses. the shaft is extremely well-made, and looks as if it has the purpose of deflecting blows, as such, the spear can also be used as a bo as well as a spear.

Rock thrower: be it with a sling or what-have-you, Al'thok's primary style was to use a rock to bash the skull of his opponents in, and thus he is extremely accurate by not only throwing rocks (which rivals a world-class baseball pitchers throw) but also with a sling. Al'thok has also, on occasion, used a simple rock to engage in a melee fight with someone who was using a more proper weapon--and won.

Braces: The four braces on his arms and legs are the sources of his immense strength, he has spent years upon years wearing them, and thus he has become not only just as strong as someone that wasn't wearing them, but twice as deadly. He no longer feels much of a fallback due to the extra momentum brought forth by these large slabs attached to his appendages, instead, he has improvised and has adapted.

History

Al'thok grew up as a young hunter, competing among his guildsmen, leading a natural clan life. Things were simple, and almost very similar to the early native american life, they would hunt and then whatever they killed they would use every bit of. Eventually other clans were pushed into the Thok territory, due to the expansion of the Nebuchanizzian expansion in the west, causing inter-clan hostilities. The thok and eet clan became embroiled in a bitter tribal war, and Al'thok, the 21st became known as the warlord of the Thok clan at a young age. Al'Thok was a fiend on the battlefield, observed not only by the elders of the Eet clan, but his own as well. It was not until the Nebuchanizzian expansion had grown so out of control they began to enslave the tribes that they sought to push from their territory.

The Thok and Eet clan both migrated to the far east, but in a battle that the Nebuchanizzians interrupted Al'Thok, the only tribal survivor of the skirmish, was captured to be a slave of the God Emperor Haddad-Asseem-Abdul, titled "Rafiq of Nebuchanezzar", as Al'thok was taken he was give the concrete braces (as the Nebuchanizzians had evolved to have such technology). Al'Thok never lost his bloodlust or hope to escape, and while the Rafiq did not approve of gladatorial combat, the barbarian was released as a single driving force in any conquests the Nebuchanizzians went for. Unknown to the simple berserker, the Nebuchanizzians were embroiled in their own war, similar to the tribal microcosm he had been involved in, they were an all-consuming war with the "Arudites". Al'thok became very successful, and thus fall in favor with the Rafiq. Trusting of the primitive creature, Rafiq began to allow Al'Thok certain liberties, as was accustomed with the Nebuchanizzians lascivious lifestyle--a choice the God-emperor would soon regret. Al'thok slayed the Haddad-asseem and escaped, leaving the Nebuchanizzians in shambles, causing them to pull out of the Arudite ground, and eventually fall to Arudite invasion.

Having broken the chains that were shackling him, Al'thok sought to return to his tribe with the experience of a different style of fighting. Instead of simply using feebly constructed spears and rocks like he was accustomed to, he had a heavy but well-made Nebuchanizzian forged pike at his disposal. Once he found the Thok clan (whom were no longer embroiled in conflict with the Eet clan, but had intruded into Chang-qi territory and were currently enslaved under Mandarin-Official Qi-Zhaou Chang-Chi) he was discouraged to see what had become of them. Seeing to free his clan from the powerful Chang-Qi dynasty, he lead a bitter and bloody revolution, and using Nebuchanizzian tactics, he separated his clan into their own powerful territory of the south east.

Al'Thok Thor-rok the barbarian was something you might have expected to see in the gladiator's arenas. He was huge. Weighing at almost 300 lbs, and towering over his opposition at 6'9" the man strode in akin to that of how an ape might walk. Traversing the terrain on knuckles and feet, he cautiously scanned the setting, nebuchanizzian battle spear in hand. He almost appeared more animal than human in his mannerisms. Wearing only large concrete cuffs on his wrists and a simple loincloth draped in between his legs, he spent no time observing the setting of the arena. There was sparse cover set around, a few pillars that rose in some sort of foreign pattern, each approximately two yards from the other. From a bird's eye view the complexity of each pillars placement was like a snowflake. A savvy architect also knew the application such obstructions could serve, making an even playing field for both ranged and melee combatants.

Al'Thok Thor-rok he heard a loud noise, but Al'Thok couldn't understand Lamina. When she spoke to him it was little more than a loud noise. He stood, hunched with his spear in both hands. Taking note of the pillars about him, there was one perhaps a single stride-step away. And the child with the drawn sword had one to either side of her, as per the stylistic architecture of the "flake" that they were in.

Strangely, Al'Thok didn't actually look too threatened at the drawn sword. He squatted, farted, then grunted as he pointed the tip of the thin blade at the young girl. In his village, she was right at the age of "The First Givings" in which every maiden would offer herself up to the village chieftain or elder. This debautcherous process of deflowering is what pretty much left them with the title "neanderthals" but it was ritual. He allowed her to near him, closer and closer, but readied himself for action if she went on the offensive.

(2 yards per pillar, but the closest one to me is about 3 feet)

It is at an incline, the pointed blade is the high end which is pointed up towards your face/neck area. His left hand is his lead.

Another note is that it is functionally similar to a harpoon, while it is bladed like a spear, there is a small metal part that hooks backwards off the base of the spear head.

Nope

You are striking across at my right shoulder while standing to the right of my blade?

Al'Thok Thor-rok 's shoulder was technically open, but it was more or less a baited tactic so that she would expose the outside of her arm. Readied, he twisted his torso so that her blade pushed against the shaft of his spear. While at the same time his counter movement was the close the distance, maximizing his control. He pushed down, altering the incline, as this would force the tip of her blade angling downwards towards the ground. Negating her weapons full range of motion was imperative as it limited her window for counterattack. With a quick step and twist he would be effectively shoulder-ramming Lamina with his left into her right shoulder... and coming from a man who weighed at the borderline of 300lbs it would likely knock the smaller girl off her feet.

So you pulled blade back while I was moving to the outside of your arm then thrust it back towards his stomach?

# Master's Dojo, 2011-02-19 05:45:31, as written by Arrogance
But at that point I would be outside of your striking range.

# Master's Dojo, 2011-02-19 05:50:12, as written by Arrogance
If you waited just until the point where I twisted, which was to shoulder ram you then you're not going to have enough momentum to pierce through my stomach, because i'm not going to be at an arm's reach... i'll be within a foot.

# Master's Dojo, 2011-02-19 05:55:38, as written by Arrogance
That would mean you would be doing that all before i've even moved towards you, which is basically you ducking and thrusting before I even get a step off.

# Master's Dojo, 2011-02-19 06:00:54, as written by Arrogance
Right, but my movement was prepped for your feint attack, and so the moment you execute that attack is when my movement phase began. Then after I pivot you would have to retract your feint, alter your stance and strike.

You didn't really say what the distance was to begin with

# Master's Dojo, 2011-02-19 06:02:06, as written by Arrogance
At one point you mention drawing your sword at ten feet, but it is not clear whether you stopped at that distance or not. Then you take another couple steps forward, which would basically give me enough room to cover ground within a stride

# Master's Dojo, 2011-02-19 06:03:31, as written by Arrogance
I did move forward.
