Caluet Skitterson

Armed with a cracking post-pubescent voice and a miserably out-of-tune lyre, Caluet (or 'Loot' as he prefers to be called) is on a perilous mission for adventure, song, and sonnet.

Caluet Skitterson's Story

# Gambit's Bar, 2010-03-27 09:35:17, as written by ViceVersus
Caluet Skitterson The door was flung open, and in stepped a youth
With a shock of red hair and eyes full of truth
He had a worn lyre in his hand, a grin on his face
As he said - "Hey, let's bring a song to this place!"

No one looked up, no one seemed to care -
But the youth wasn't stopped, he continued unaware
Stomped into the bar with his spirits still high
You couldn't bring him down, no, even if you tried.

It was almost unnerving, the youth's bright cheer
He had wandered the world - lands both far and near
Bringing song and dance to the people he'd meet
In exchange for a meal, a place to rest his feet.

Caluet Skitterson The activity in this place was really quite high
Ought he to sing a song? Sure, he'd give it a try!
Loot swung around and caught side of one fellow -
Sitting by himself, with eyes most mellow.

"Well, hello there, good sir!" Loot stepped over so he
Could address this man with clarity
"Want to hear a song? I can put on a show!
I'm Caluet Skitterson, of the west, dontcha know!"

It seemed outlandish, and this was probably true -
But Loot was who he was, you couldn't argue through
That point, especially when its there in your face
Loot didn't seem to get the concept of 'personal space'.

Caluet Skitterson , too, heard the pinched wails echoing through the forest. He shouldered his lyre with a frown on his young, freckled features. What on earth was causing that racket?

"Oh, toadsfeet .. "

It was always better to hear of scenes of torture rather than actually see them. Caluet's imagination was plenty overactive enough -- give him a few shouts, give him a few cries of 'wolf!" and he could spin a tale. The young minstrel didn't like actually seeing people in danger. That was, you know. Well, to be honest, that was quite often too much.

Like this.

Caluet entered the clearing in time to see Jennifer rushing over to help the girl, the girl who had been screaming, the youth presumed. She was covered in blood and a hefty number of chains.

"What in the .. "

"Magic and glory, I was just walkin' through the .. the woods. She's puttin' up such a fuss, screamin' worse than a stuck pig what did you think any good soul would do besides come see what was up?"

Although truth be told, Caluet had been trying to go in the other direction .. it didn't help that he had been lost as a pheasant since Cairns. Though he wasn't exceptionally tan anyways, the youth was starting to pale.

"What on earth were you doing to her?"

"What good does bashin' the tree do? What .. there's gotta be a way to break the chains or somethin'! Watch out for the girl, she ain't made of metal like them chains! Hoy, easy there!"

"Magic and glory!" Caluet repeated his oath, this time a bit louder. He was but a normal youth whose only superpower was a warbly voice, and maybe arms that were too long. As dirt flew and magic soared, he did his best to scramble back out of harm's way. "What are you folks? Can't a body just walk peaceably through a forest without gettin' screamed at, then blowed up?"

"What's right? O-okay. You go right ah -- toadsfeet!"

There, again, another curse as the earth continued to shift a bit. Caluet was now holding out his lyre as though it were some great weapon, as though he intended to defend himself with the thing.

"Okay. So maybe you have a point. Whatever it was that put here there .. it sure invested in some quality chains, right? So where is it, then?"

Caluet scratched the back of his head at the strange man's question.

"Well, now see here. I ain't a clever young man .. but it 'pears to me that it don't matter who we are, or what you know of us. This is a public path on the road, as far as I'm concerned," Caluet knew this to be true, "and as such, just about anyone can pass along through. And magic and glory, did you just pull that thrice-damned blade from your stomach?"

The youth's voice shot up a few octaves, and he was definitely paling now.

"How were those elements workin' out fer ya against them chains, if you please, then?" and now the minstrel was definitely grinning.

Through the talk of rages and 'kisses' Caluet pursed his lips.

"Maybe you can ask her those questions later, then? Seeing as, you know. She's still in critical condition. Unless, of course, the whimpering and the bleeding is just an act for attention, in which case she has you made!"

I just went to another room, and opened a private channel. There's no one else I really want to talk to in the chat, anyways.
