Description
A young, 26 year old, reasonably handsome man, with strong, lean features. His eyes are a remarkable bright blue. His hair is comprised of blond locks which reach shoulder length. Also not neccesarily muscular, he is 6 foot tall, and quite thin, with notably dexterous hands. He wears rather gaudy clothing, including bright outfits, made of only the finest materials, useually covered in golden buttons and trimming. He wears fine silk gloves of a pearl white colour and buckled, pointed shoes. Perhaps hio most notable peice of clothing he wears is the crevatte he is immensly proud of, having had it made by someone Edwin claims to be "the greatest tailor in the world".
Personality
An aloof man, known for a showman-like attitude, he has undoubtable presence. Research is his life, and as a result he is very proud of his inventions and discoveries. Although he is more than happy to distance himself from people in order to retain independence he believes to be important, he can often adopt amiacable or flirtatious dispositions in order to communicate with others, whether he is curious about them, or sees them as someone who he can gain from. Often Edwin's curiousityu will cause him to cross the line, making suggestiopns that may seem dangerous or ridiculous to others. He believes science is one part genius, two parts imagination and will often read novels or poetry in order to, as he puts it, "to expand his mind". His abbsolute belief in his ideas often comes over as stubborn, but despite his unwillingness to concede, he is always keen to intergrate the plots of others into his own scheming.
Equipment
He uses a rapier with a silver blade and a golden hilt, with a floral decoration where blade meets grip. Though Edwin has pride in his weapon, he uses it as a threat more often than a weapon, as he treats more as art than an instrument of combat. A collection of potions and concoctions are always on his personage, alongside a good many scientific tools, allowing him to continue his study wherever he sees fit.
History
14th son of the well established and incredibly wealthy van Salzinger, he always showed a curiousity in the science through out his education, which was spent at only the finest establishment, much of his life has been spent in decadency. Despite his comforts, before long, Edwin became a roving researcher, aiming to perfect all uses for chemicals of any sort. His travels led him to some well worn places, such lower class abode have, as a result become a disdain for the cultured well-groomed fortunate son.
Edwin van Salzinger stepeed through the doorway into Gambit's Bar. With a sparkle in his eyes, he walked over to a windowside table, and from his coat, revealed a book. He began reading it with vigor and vim. The sun shone upon his lean frame, and Edwin looked forward to what he hoped would be a relaxing interlude in an otherwise buisness filled day.
Edwin van Salzinger entered the bar, and intrigued by the colourful characters around him, sat at a windowside table to observe, ready to intervene if anyone were to pique his curiousity. He began to take note of his surroundings.
Edwin van Salzinger stopped his inspection of the bars denizens as soon as the strange man donning a lab coat entered. Upon seeing the attire which would not seem out of place within the confines of his laborotory, the scientist indside of Edwin leapt with joy. Deciding that he would confront in the man in the hope of sharing theories, he stood up and approached the man in a rather hurried manner, however in a refined manner, as is the expectation of his family's name.
Edwin van Salzinger was pleased to here the man's amicable response to his advance. Having ddecided that this man would be happy to discuss theory with him he thrust his right arm outwards offering a gloved hand in introduction. "My name is Edwin van Salzinger, 14th son of the van Salzinger family, and head researcher and CEO of Salzinger Science".
Edwin van Salzinger let a smile reach his fine features. "Ah, the Angelus corporation. You only hear bad things about that shady conglomerate." In the time he made these statements the both of them reached the bar. "But what really piques my curiousity is that, if you founded that company then you are much, much older than you appear to be."
Edwin van Salzinger walked into the ar and took note of those who were occupying it. After doing this he headed directly for the bar and ordered a light, non-alcoholic drink. He then pulled out a gadget the size of a cellphone and began tapping away at it.
Edwin van Salzinger continued to tap away on his doohickey, completely ignoring distant tears. Why would he posisibly not care enough to reply?
Edwin van Salzinger was intrigued by the sound of metal appliances, and being the inquisitive soul that he is decided to observe paitently, catching a glance in between sips of an orange coloured liquid and typing on his gadget.
Edwin van Salzinger heard the word "junk" and turned away. Such rejected material was below a van Salzinger, after all. However he had some interested in the occupants the bar. It was of great interest of Edwin to find unique attributes in people. Deciding it was a worthqwhile cause, Edwin turned to a guy sitting near him on the bar and asked, "I am Edwin van Salzinger, 14th son of the van Salzinger family. Who are you?"
Edwin van Salzinger returned the gesture and continued his line of questioning. "Nice to meet you Tsukiko. I am looking into the affect of DNa on potential and latent ability. I was wondering if you had any outstanding qualities I may be interested in
Edwin van Salzinger sipped his own drink his mind wrought with thought. "Perhaps you are correct..." The device in the scientist's pocket beeped loudly, moving Edwin to quickly take it out and inspect its single screen with curiousity. "Ah the results are back... most of the people in this bar have anomalous cells within their bodies, material which is not on our records... how interesting. Oh and you too have some unrecognised genetics Tsukiko... mind if I take a sample?"
Edwin van Salzinger smiled cheerfully at his new subject's response, and took out a metallic needle. "I will simply inject these nanomachines into your body to collect the necessary samples. It is a relatively painless procedure... well the injection part at least. The actual nanomachines tend to be unpleasant..." Edwin trailed of at the thought of some of his earlier test subjects, and how he was often forced to move from town to town due to the completely undeserved abuse he recieved due to his 'painless' experiments. He handed Tsukiko a contract. "I nearly forgot, just sign these release papers and we can get started!" His excitement and anticipation was printed across his face.
Edwin van Salzinger read the contract aloud. "It says:If a worst-case scenario occurs (e.g. loss of life, limbs or any internal organs deemed 'necessary') then the participant agrees to not allow themselves or any one connected to the participant sue Salzinger Science, any employee of Salzinger Science and any member of the van Salzinger family." Edwin smiled at Tsukiko expectantly.
Edwin van Salzinger Edwim motioned his fellow researcher into a seat beside him while concentrating on the young man turned test subject. "Well... you would be Sample 143 and only one person died and that had something to do with a paccemaker... I think. Apart from the screaming I'm fairly sure there has only been a few worst cases... and even if they had been bad you wouldn't have been able to tell over the screaming. You'd have thought that I hadn't have given them painkillers."
Edwin van Salzinger shook his head at the thought of a neghligent experiment. "Don't be ridiculous almost everyone had painkillers. Unfortunately it appears I have misplaced them today. However, I do have a sedative that can force you into a coma for the duration of the experiment!"
Edwin van Salzinger took on a reassuring tone. "Don't be silly. I cannot simply take some blood: I must take some samples from some organs in your body, like the heart, for example. Unfortunately the nanomachines are not perfected yet, and the body tends to view them as a threat which can lead to overcompensation..." Edwin realized that wasn't helping. "Sign here, anyway!"
Edwin van Salzinger turned to his new subject of interest, with a grin stapled to his face. "I am more interested in you anyway, after all: if you told the truth to me yesterday you are the oldest men alive." He went sip from his glass, but realised it was empty. Disappointed, he passed the release form to Alek.
Edwin van Salzinger was taken aback by the senior scientist's co-operation, but soon composed himself and got excited about the challenge. "I humbly accept this task. I am the recognised world leader in genetics, and some of my subordinates have received awards for their study. However, the specifics of your... conditions makes you a personal goal. I have an aim and you may be key to it. Next time we meet I would hope that you would have such material on your person." As another drink arrived, he took a sip. Mmmm... tasty.
