History

Ink has been attending the university for two and a half years now. She is going after a degree in the fine arts which puts her on the path to graduate in one and a half years. While engrossed in her studies, she has also sought and gained employment at Taylor's Bar as one of the bus staff. It's not a glamorous job, but the bar is rather nice. When not working, she tends to be out somewhere drawing or taking pictures.

Ink has had a stalled on again/off again kind of relationship with a man named Nathan, a banisher of demons who has brought a bit more violence than love to her life. On one of their reunions, Ink was attacked by one of Nathan's enemies and suffered a broken arm. She hasn't seen Nathan since...

Her friendship with Titania, the janitor at Taylor's, has grown exponentially as she has taken Ink under her wing at work and been a supportive companion in Ink's personal life.

So begins...

Ink huffed a bit at the end of the hike between her apartment and these ruins. It was a good distance, but well worth it with the beautiful scenery all around. Ink tucks her hair behind her ears while looking around the area for a good vantage point. She wandered off to the right to get a better angle of the tall tower still standing in the middle. Chewing her lip, she pauses and tilts her head to the side, glancing up at how the sun is peaking around the side of the remains. Something about that spot clicked for her, so she looked behind her to find a rock to sit on before setting her messenger bag down and searching through it.

Ink had just gotten to her pocket that contained an exacto blade when she heard a voice that startled her. She clutched the arm of the blade before standing up and abandoning her bag on the ground. Her feet were spread apart at shoulder's width as she crouched slightly, the tenseness signalling that she was ready to bolt. "...I don't want any trouble." she said with confidence that only barely masked her fear. Her hands were already trembling a bit as she extended her index finger down the length of the blade. Her brown eyes studied Ted for a moment before she slid her foot back against the rock she had been sitting on to mark where it was so she wouldn't trip over it while fleeing.

Ink smirked a bit and responded, "Well I imagine if you were the zenith of my drawing abilities, I might go get a refund on my schooling..." Chuckling a bit, she fidgets with the blade until he speaks again. What? Was that an insult? "I am free to draw whatever I want, wherever I want...And I kindly ask that you step out of my picture." Seeming to be settled down now, she puts the knife away while reaching into a padded section of the bag for her professional digital SLR camera. She always took a quick snapshot of what she was drawing for color reference later on. She held up her camera before looking over it at Ted. "Do you mind?"

Ink made a sound to show her objection to the invasion of her bag. "Hey! C'mon, now." Snatching her bag away, she flips over the top flap before reaching to a pocket on the side. Lucky for him, she carried a pack of cigarettes around just to get homeless people to leave her alone. She drew one smoke out of the box and held it out towards him. "I'm Ink, by the way...I guess that makes you my name's sake?"

Ink takes the light out of the same pocket and tosses it to him, wondering what his reflexes are like..."Ink is what's on my birth certificate." she says with a smirk over the pun hidden there. "And my heart is in my chest," she added. "Where's yours? Slightly below your arms?" She laughs a bit before reaching to push him out of the picture, holding her camera up again. "At least the hobos walk off after I give them a smoke."

Ink rolls her eyes. "I swear. Will you -move-, please? Geez. If I was certain you're made out of paper, I'd set you on fire." Holding her camera up again, she waits for him to move before dropping the device to hang from her neck. "You're rather irritating. I didn't come out here to ponder the psyche of the hobos of Wing City nor did I come by myself to be pestered endlessly by something I drew when I was 3 years old." She was getting rather ticked now, standing there to give him one more chance to move.

Ink looked at him with a blank expression. "Maybe I shouldn't have wasted my time coming out here today." She said with a pout, stuffing her camera back into the bag. With all her items accounted for, including the lighter that she snatched back, she took the bag back onto her shoulder and turned to start walking back towards the city. "And I don't think it's strange because I've seen far stranger things since coming here. You're just the aftereffect of the heat stroke I had on the way here." Huffing, she pushes her hair back while tromping away. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have assignments to finish."

Ink sighed and smiled, satisfied to see that she was alone in The Ruins. Whatever that strange stick figure was that had ruined the ruins for her, it was now gone. She readjusted the strap of her messenger bag before setting out to find that spot she was in before. At least she hadn't started drawing earlier. That way she could come and start fresh, though the sun wouldn't be so perfectly placed this time. Sometimes she considered getting a dog that could bite whatever disturbed her and chase it away. That would have been nice. Oh well, she tried not to worry about what had happened earlier as she found her spot and sat on the same rock again. She was facing the tower that stood in the middle, a few stray, decaying structure littered around it. Expecting to find peace here, she started to take out her clipboard with some paper on it, as well as her pencil and eraser.

Ink just missed seeing a robed man step out of one of the towers, having been distracted by delving into her bag again. This time, she drew out her digital SLR and lifted it to take a shot that she could then later reference for color and lighting. It is when she takes the shot and looks at the preview on the back of the camera that she sees some figure standing there. She snapped her head up to look just as a breeze picked up and blew some dust between her and the tower. Thinking the worst, she seeks out the exacto knife in her bag...

Ink pushed the door to the club open and quietly made her entrance. She wasn't one to want to draw attention, but she probably did so this time by being under-dressed for the occasion. Wearing long blue jeans and a black blouse that was hidden under her green jacket, Ink swept her eyes around the place before setting out for a booth. Sliding her messenger bag in first, she sits on the cushion before idly digging around in the carrier to account for all her things.

Camera? Check...Pencils, eraser, papers, all there. It was good that, for a change, she hadn't lost anything despite making two long journeys out of the city that day. Seeing a sketch she started down near the ruins, she pulls that sheet out as well as her water color pencils. She already imagined that using the blending qualities of the medium would allow her to capture the dusty air surrounding the towers.

Ink felt a cold chill go down her arms as she moved the camera in her bag. In the reflection of the preview screen on the back of the digital SLR, she caught a glimpse of what her mind registered to be two red lights up in the rafters. She thought nothing of it and ordered herself a coke when someone asked. Turning back to the drawing in front of her, she unzips the pouch of colored pencils sitting there. She began bringing color to the main tower first, reproducing it in its true brown tones as a base to the dusty world surrounding it. She had the picture she had taken on her camera still, but she didn't need it just yet. In her mind's eye, she still had a strong vision of what it was like. For a point of interest, she started working blue and purple tones to the dust clouds about the bottom of the main tower in the drawing.

Ink was suddenly aware of how much of a contrast she was to the slick black limo and bodacious woman who came out of it. She was dressed in her nicest pair of blue jeans, black sneakers, and a black top. The beaded top was certainly the nicest piece of her ensemble, but even it was covered by her ratty green jacket that she decided would be discarded in back with her messenger bag.

She had to come straight from her critique today, but she wasn't about to be late on her first night. In fact, she was over an hour early. Once the swarm of paparazzi had died down a bit, she steps out into the walkway and quickly slips inside the barn/club. Once inside, she quickly moves to slip into the back where she might hide her things. Finding a cubby to tuck her bag and jacket into, she stands and brushes her fingers through her hair before pressing her lips together to refresh her lip gloss. Luckily she had some training done when she was hired. It wasn't all that complicated. Keep the tables and bar clean of dirty dishes, clean up any minor messes - yea, she could do this with one hand behind her back.

Ink surprisingly had not been startled but the sudden sound, just looking towards its origin before picking up her plastic tub and going about her work. Patrons were coming in for drinks and dancing and Ink was careful to observe who was done with their round and who planned on returning to the drink later. The night had just started and already she was having to make trips back to the dish washing station to unload the discarded food, glasses, and plates. She was happy to see the business, though, knowing that it meant she had a place here and a purpose to fulfill.

Ink was in back at the sink when shots rang out. Her eyes went wide and she instinctively ducked down although she was nowhere near the shots. Heck of a first day - but at least she wasn't in the action. In fact, while in lockdown, she couldn't even get out of the kitchen area. Now there was a cry of pain as well. Ink gritted her teeth and looked to the dishwasher whose eyes were larger than the dishes he was washing. "Is there anything we can do to help?" she asked, not liking this theater she was a captive audience member to. Hopefully there would be an intermission?

Ink went to the door that was covered in the steel. "Hey! Let us out of here!" she demanded. "C'mon! There's got to be a release or something!" The woman had no business being in the middle of a gun fight, but she still knew she could do more than just stand there...Cell phone! Ink whipped her cell phone out of her pocket and immediately dialed for an ambulance and police. The thought of it not being her place to do this never crossed her mind. "Yes. There have been gunshots and I think someone's hit. You've gotta get out here, now!" she shouted into the phone.

Ink pulled her phone away from her face and cursed. "Lost signal." Now she was really starting to get pissed. Denying that she would be of little to no help out there, she shoved her phone back in her pocket and crossed her arms. With a huff, she tossed her weight on the door behind her which jerked before sliding out of the way completely. After nearly falling backwards, Ink ducks back into the kitchen for a split second, long enough to fetch one of the knives before venturing back out into the bar. It took her a moment to piece things together, seeing a woman being loaded into a car, she assumed that was the person who had cried out earlier. She kept the knife at her side as she side stepped her way to the bar and ducked behind it. Her hands were trembling as her heart pounded away. "They get the shooter?" she asked the bartender. With an affirmative response, she relaxed a bit, laying the knife down behind the counter.

Ink jumped at another gunshot, ducking down behind the bar. "Shit. I though there was no more gunman?" she said to the barkeep. "That one's on our side...I think" the 'tender replied. Ink sighed and held a hand to her forehead before standing up and looking towards Vlad. "Mental note:..." she thought. "Don't fuck with him." Chewing her lip, she looked to the other victim there and to Taylor. "Oh shit..." Idly, she ran her finger over the back of her charmed ring. No amount of luck was going to save Andrea, she decided.

Ink had just put her phone away when she heard Titania. "Oh, hey! How are you?" Wanting to make a gesture that she was comforting, or at least attempting to, Ink reached out and touched Titania's arm. "I was just getting ready to go in for my shift...Things got pretty intense yesterday, huh? Did...Didya wanna talk about it?" She dropped her hand to cross her arms and tug her green jacket closed.
