Arcus takes the board in hand and flips through the pages with his dainty fingers. He nods once or twice, making the occasional subvocal utterance. The blue eyes scan through the document, taking note of each and every one of the design considerations.

Something stopped him, though. He paused, turned his head slightly sideways, and looked up at Vidious.

This is interesting—
he said, when almost as if on cue the doors at the back of the room opened, causing an interruption as the entering party made their way into the dinner.

We apologize for our tardiness, sir. There was a disturbance at one of our on-planet facilities. No matter, it has been resolved now. Is this the client?
rambled a thin grey-haired figure, who punctuated his sentence by adjusting his optic lenses with a bizarre mechanical replacement for an arm.

Arcus peered back over his shoulder to see who had interrupted him, and slid his chair back when he realized that his engineering team had arrived. He rose to his feet and proceeded to introduce them.

Ah, Dr. J. So glad that you could join us. This is Vidious Renati, the gentleman who I was telling you about.

He turned to face Vidious again.

This is the team of engineers who are developing the very—ah, special, yes very special indeed—the very special features of our mobile suits that you will be getting the galaxy's first taste of,
he alluded, referring to the new predictive neurobindings that enabled faster-than-thought reaction times in the new line of mobile suits. This, in combination with the new type of beam weaponry that Dr. J had discovered and the new bioferrous armor that Instructor H. had pioneered, was going to play an integral role in securing Sol Enterprises' firm grip on the weapons industry in this new market.

Doctor, have you seen the updated specs?

Arcus picked the clipboard up off the table and handed it over to the man to the right of Dr. J., who most notably had an impressively well-kept mustache adorning his face. He too flipped through the first few pages of the clipboard, and nodded before responding.

Yeessss, yes indeed. We exceed all of these specifications using the current production model by no less than 35% in the least marginal of cases. This is very agreeable, and gives us the ability to—

...add some flair to this special order, of course.
snapped Dr. J, causing Instructor H to glare begrudgingly at their research leader.

The statements hung in the room like an eerie morning mist. Arcus looked at the research group, and they stared back. There was notable tension, and a great much left to be discussed after the meeting was concluded, but Arcus needed to pay attention to the client.

So.
Arcus snapped, walking back over towards Vidious.

The only remaining details we have to cover is your delivery date and destination. Have you a place in mind?

"Forgive me, gentlemen," Vidious announced as he raised to his feet, hands gently pressing against the tablecloth, "But I fear we have already indulged in our dining, and business, leaving you sorely lacking any reason to be here other than confirmation." He offered a bow with one hand across his stomach. "My humblest apologies."

"As the for delivery date and destination ah, as soon as they can be ready and fully functioning. And there is an old airfield out of town derelict and unused. I believe its in the Boiling Plains? Even if there isn't, seems like the perfect place to test out the machines, yes? So contact me when they're ready and we will meet up out there at a specified time and date."

He dusted himself off, then gestured for the clipboard. "A number to reach me is on there. You may get my receptionist."

Norrington, however, had brought himself to the back of the room when the others entered, pressing himself practically to the wall. It wasn't an action of fear, it was an action of preparation. He knew this was a business meeting but he'd be damned if he thought it was acceptable to have five goons walk into the middle of one. He was already thinking of ditching Vidious and his Sleeveless guards. Said guards were still waiting for Vidious order to leave.

Arcus paused, ceasing all motion. He then glanced over at his scientists, staring deeply at Instructor H.

I suspect we'll be ready in one week's time. I'll reach out with information regarding the demo.
he said as he turned back towards the departing Vidious. He and splayed his fingers out on the table before leaning forward onto them and rose to his feet, causing the chair to slide backwards with a soft shuffle.

You know, there is a storm coming.
he alluded, before gesturing to the door with his right hand.

Doctor J's mechanical arm clattered as the armatures snapped shut. He uttered a subvocal hum, audible evidence of his displeasure at Arcus' betrayal. Dante turned his head to the right in response, angling it slightly away from the group and back out the window. Arcus, however, took absolutely no note of this—he instead held his posture, arm outstretched to the door.

It was Doktor S who first turned, preempting Vidious' move for the exit. Lifting his left hand over his shoulder, he gave a blasé wave to Arcus and began to walk away. The gesture was first followed by the impatient Professor G, and the rest quickly followed suit, leaving Doctor J as the remaining individual standing there, his gaze lingering upon Arcus.

Arcus turned his hand over, knuckles up, and gave a quick flick of his fingers to send the remaining scientist away.

The concussive bow-wave of gravity crashed violently into the surrounding region as the escort fleet exited warp into the designated warp-in point over Terra. The fleet held formation around the transports as the increased intensity of the solar wind buffeted their shields, making sure to provide a stiff deterrence against any would-be threat.

Initiate sensor recalibration and move to sustain orbit theta. Signal to surface upon confirmation.
commanded Stark.

Roger that. Moving to orbit theta,
replied the navigation officer as the fleet instantaneously acknowledged the flagship's relayed signals.
...and initializing continuous calibration sequence zero niner gamma. All systems reporting nominal.

The Ark-class vessels the fleet was escorting were of a special breed; not only were they the successor to the extraordinarily well-decorated Providence-class, but Sol Enterprises had taken particular care to upfit their assets with the latest technologies developed by the trans-galactic powerhouse of Research and Design. Between the incredibly talented scientists working tirelessly on pushing the boundaries of science and the military experience of its preferential compositors, the Sol empire undeniably led the charge in setting the trends of innovation. These incredibly unique vessels—the fleet aside—were no exception.

Confirm systems nominal, ensign?
inquired Stark as he rose from the captain's char. He wanted to be certain there were no mistakes made with this operation, or the blemish on his record would forever mar what would be an otherwise flawless career. The glint of light in his eye might have been a reflection of the dawn rising over Terra, or perhaps a glimpse of his aspirations, but no… no. He was not one to let his mind wander.

Aye, commander. The Oijanen, Hentogaira, and Akhrad all report systems nominal.

This was not the ensign's first foray with the commander, and his awareness of the situation was acute. The two had been on the Kreios deployment before participating in the Luminaire contingent, and he had turned down his most recent promotion simply to protect the opportunity to work under Stark's command once more. His interpretation of Stark's inquiry was an anticipatory example of this, and the hint of a smile on Stark's face confirmed his pleasure.

Awfully prescient of you to stop by, Gaius.

The comms erupted with Arcus' greeting as he appeared on-screen. The backdrop was dark, but you could just make out the outline of the Wing City skyline as the rising sun illuminated it from behind.

I couldn't wait any longer for a vacation, you know.
he chided in return, folding his hands behind his back. The smirk erupted into a smile, as it had been far too long since he'd had the pleasure of Arcus' amusing personality.

...and a good vacation it will be. Welcome back, Stark. Arcus out.
came the curt response as the transmission terminated. Not much needed to be said, everyone knew what needed to be done. The hardest part of the journey was over, and now they waited.

Stark made his way towards the massive viewport at the front of the bridge and stared outward at the dead of space. The vibrant blue orb that hung nakedly in the dark was his sole focus; a precious thing to behold, and a reminder of the delicate nature of politics. He reflected on the impact his actions would have, and the gravity of the circumstances ahead. The future of the entire region—perhaps even this galaxy itself—hung in the balance between success and failure.

Break formation. Hirodu to exit point echo delta and detachment gamma to Lagrange Luna Two. Broadcast emergency rendezvous point lambda six to the fleet, and instruct them to enter defensive pattern echo bravo. Reinforcement points for escort group Caladbolg Lagrange Sol four and five; and make sure they confirm those orders. All stations ready, we've got a rough ride ahead.

The fleet was responsive; the Hirodu aligned to a distal point and vanished, a detachment of battlecruisers and frigates broke off and began making their way towards Terra's solitary moon, and the spherical formation transitioned into one that placed the combat vessels into the lanes of travel between the massive bodies of the system.

Stark wasn't entirely certain it would play out as Arcus had planned.

Instructor H looked towards the glass dome strung high overhead, narrowly visible between the brilliant neon displays and holographic animations. The stale air was filled with the smells of street foods and ozone, the byproduct of the many oxy-bars in the area being fueled by the black-market manufacturers in the slum-like corners of the colony.

Now, where is that damned shop...
he pondered, turning his attention to the bazaar.

Instructor H left the station without stopping at the lockers, though it was well-known for him to not be carrying any weapons. He tossed Tinker a small silver coin on his way out.
